I probably shouldn't be laughing but I will anyway lol ![]() |
I am not trying to judge anybody. They may come off as supposedly elegant in appearance but when they open their mouth and talk, you will be able to see through that. Business happens to take me far and wide. And have come across different kinds of women including foreign ones. Our girls can do much better instead of laying too much emphasis on those shallow things. Nevertheless, we still have few that can stand the game .
I get what you mean. I wish I could see more women in fields that were traditionally considered male dominated. With time, you'll see more of us--trust me! lol, and I know what you mean about people looking nice on the outside then you come to find out that there's nothing but air in their heads. I've had my fair share of meeting such individuals. ![]() |
lctewand:Amazing? Nah, not really. It's nothing new to me, take a look at the romance section and you'll see what I mean ![]() 2buff:No thanks. I'd rather eat a bucket of spiders ![]() I wish I could code your mouth shut! |
2buff:Na wa o! Stop kissing me! ![]() |
Adaeze003:Well said ![]() |
2buff:Sharap! Is that your solution for every time I say something you don't like? ![]() Anyway, it's still yeye talk that's coming out your mouth ![]() |
zolzlolz:She was born in France but her parents are from one of the Portugese speaking African countries. So technically speaking, she is French by nationality. I'll check out the site you mentioned. I love models. Some of the pics you've posted, I've seen some of those girls in person. They're all GORGEOUS!! zolzlolz:OMG!!! You're my fashion sista!! Where have you been hiding this whole time?!?! ![]() I like Liya and Yasmin. They're both beautiful. Did you know that Yasmin once did a major show while she was 5 months pregnant?!?! She wasn't even showing! zolzlolz:Yes, slightly ![]() |
2buff:One is built better than the other eh? So you were built to program computers and women were bult to do what, make babies? ![]() Princek12:Excuse me? What the hell is that supposed to mean? Who said women don't fare well in computer science?
Talk about mis-placed priorities my guy. I sit in my guy's shops in Wuse market, Abuja, and observe some of this "modern day" naija babes perambulate with all the latest different brands of you what, off hand. And I wonder, that if one/fourth of that brain is at least used for something more critical, it would radiate their inner beauty more instead of all that artificial stuff they worship to appear beautiful.
Hmmm, how do you know those girls your looking at aren't smart? You're just judging them by their outer appearance ![]() Personally, I like to look nice just as much as the next person but it doesn't mean I don't have a brain. Looking at me, no one would assume that I'm really into sports and graphic design. Appearances aren't all they're cracked up to be. I know looks often times dictate our first impressions of people but don't be so quick to judge.
@Inked_Nerd You may be one in a billion. In fact I have been looking around for your type to hang out with to no avail. I am not trying to bash Naija girls. But this generation of our girls can be very shallow and superficial. I admire challenging women including overtly technical ones. There is something appealing and romantic about them in the geek sense of the word. Just that it is hard to come by. The first programmer was a woman named Ada. A very beautiful one indeed. I believe a woman can do anything.
lol, I'm not one in a million. Trust me, there are loads of us. There are lots of them at my school. Generally, I've noticed that there are more of them outside of Nigeria than in Nigeria. Here's something you might not have considered, did you ever think that a lot of the Nigerian born programmers have sought greener pastures elsewhere and that's why you may not be seeing to many of them in Nigeria? Just a thought ![]() I remember when I was younger, there was some girl my mom kept trying to force me to get to know. At the time, I was just a kid but when I got older, I later realized that the girl was a computer engineer. She [my mom] was hoping that the girls' work ethic and drive would rub off on me |
michelin89:Don't be sorry, its true! |
michelin89:For me it has nothing to do with not liking Mo' Cheddah's "light skin". Chika Emmanual is a model. She won Elite's Model Search competition last year. I personally like her look. Generally, I like models anyway ![]() |
Ace26:Yes, there are female programers. I do programming but I can't really say I'm a fan of it. It's part of my course study so I have to learn how to do it. When I have to do it for a class assignment then it bores me a bit but if its on my own time then I don't have an issue with it. My sister is pretty good on the other hand! Due to certain perceptions of Nigerian women, the number of women in this field is less than that of our male counterparts. Sadly, a lot of people don't expect Nigerian women to actually have a brain so when a woman is in a field that is traditionally male dominated, people tend to be surprised. Another thing is that as a society, I personally think women are at times discouraged from participating in certain fields. Its like when I play rugby, people who are Nigerian tend to give me the side eye when I tell them ![]() So to answer your question, 1) yes there are female programmers and 2) I live in New York and yes I do know someone who is a hacker but none who are women. 2buff:Excuse me? ![]()
Naija girls tend to shy away from technical stuff and even things that stimulate the brain; say in depth social and political discussions. What they fail to grasp is that, there is something deeply romantic and sophisticated about a geek chick or a girl that is quite informed.
C'mon, who says Nigerian girls don't like these kind of things? I like politics and social discussions! Did it ever occur to some of you guys that because some of you all tend to assume we don't like things like politics, we don't talk to you guys about it? ![]() 2buff:How do you expect women to wanna talk to you about things such as politics and science when you perpetuate stereotypes about Nigerian women? |
lol ![]() |
Scarpon:i luv her songs 2 but she is just uglyDon't forget the fact that she is wearing a weave. You know how weave dominates in Africa. You can see a woman wearing the rattiest weave in the world but because for whatever reason, we seem to cling onto notions of western beauty, they would say she looks good. I've seen women with beautiful natural/bald looks before and have overheard Nigerian men [and other Africans] saying the women don't look good because they don't have a weave on their heads ![]() |
Sleeping and eating ![]() |
ogugua88:I totally agree. I like Tiwa as well. The way she carries herself compared to those other "celebrities" is great! Another person I like, is Oluchi Onweagba. I don'ty know if she can be considered a Nigerian celebrity. I don't really see her as one, because she's a lot more internationally known than others in Nigeria. Agbani Darego is another one too! DaRapture:Don't worry, I've got enough embarrassment to go around for everyne ![]() Parisgoodman:You're very much correct in this belief. A lot of them have horrible and I mean HORRIBLE PR people and in some cases, some of them don't have any at all! They don't know how to carry themselves. They give off too much attitude, sound very full of themselves, and don't know how to be humble about themslves. I saw one interview with some Nigerian acctress over a year ago, and the way she was speaking and the hand gestures she was making just made her look like a complete fool! It was so obvious that she was trying to sound like she an American accress but the fact that she was trying so hard, the way she was speaking and moving her hands, I couldn't help but laugh at her. I didn't know if I should have felt sorry for her or sorry for us Nigerians. Pathetic! They spend so much time trying to show they world their fake lives in those those bootleg Nigerian tabloid websites and magazines, if they invested the same amount of money and time into ACTUAL acting classes and PR people, they would be looking as fooloish as they always are! |
Ugo is a lucky kid. He's gonan be tall just like his mom! He's big for a 4 year old. Congrats to her though ![]() |
I personally think Chika looks better. I've seen the girl in person at NYFW and she is so beautiful! I've never been a fan of Mo' Cheddah so I don't have much to say about her ![]() |
Fast food in Nigeria scares me just like fast food in the US. There are very few fast food places that I am willing to eat at in the US, let alone Nigeria. Anyway, I can make my own pizza while in Nigeria. I do it here in my own house when I wanna make a veggie pizza. I have a friend who's uncle, if he doesn't have food in his house and has money to buy fast food, he would rather starve than buy fast food ![]() |
Actually, it shouldn't. Nobody is forcing you to wear grey, black and white during winter. There are colorful winter apparels all over. You choose to wear the dull colors. Your "fashion swag" should know no bounds/season.
Excellent point!michelin89:There are lots of things you can do to brighten up your winter appearance. I can send you some Youtube links and blogs if you want ![]() |
zolzlolz:She has African parents o! ![]() zolzlolz:Yay!!! Iman is overated anyway ![]() There was a blog I used to frequent that had lots of Black models but for whatever reason, the blog has been shut down |
purplekayc:Was I boasting about my looks? No! I just was curious to see whatever it is that all his male friends are seeing since they're the ones who are supposedly telling him he's handsome. |
