Paid for publication by Tinubu. I know very much about rating agencies. Fitch is the worst. Most companies don't use them or trust their rating. By the way, what concerns a rating agency with the politics of the so called third world? By the way, if if you need a positive rating for your company, you can buy it from the rating agencies. I can bet with my life that Tinubu campaign paid for this. There's no doubt in my mind whatsoever. Look at the argument they marshalled to back their conclusion, the same talking points that Tinubu rabble rousers raised after the polls placing Obi ahead of others came out. Meanwhile, out of the 3 main rating agencies, Fitch is the worst. You cannot see Standard and Poors doing this rubbish.

Politics / A Fake News Article About Trump Deporting Nigerians If He Were Elected POTUS. by Inoknowbook: 2:10am On Jan 23, 2016
ORIGIN:In January 2016, a fake quote started circulating online, purportedly uttered by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump about how he would deport Muslims, Mexicans, and Nigerians if he won the presidency:

American Billionaire and Republican Presidential Front-runner, Donald Trump, has shot a subtle warning to the Nigerian Community in the United States, after he said all Nigerians would be made to leave the country “when he becomes President”. He made the “threat” during a rally at Wichita, Kansas.

According to Donald Trump, Nigerians ad Mexicans have taken all the jobs meant for honest hard working Americans.

“To Make America great again, we need to get rid of the Muslims, Mexicans and the Africans, especially the Nigerians. They take all our jobs, jobs meant for honest hard working Americans, and when we don’t give them the jobs, the Muslims blow us up”, Trump said.

“We need to get the Africans out. Not the blacks, the Africans. Especially the Nigerians. They’re everywhere. I went for a rally in Alaska and met just one African in the entire state. Where was he from? Nigeria! He’s in Alaska taking our jobs. They’re in Houston taking our jobs. Why can’t they stay in their own country? Why? I’ll tell you why. Because they are corrupt."

The above-displayed quote appeared on several disreputable web sites in mid-January 2016, but it was originally published by "FNN" on the web site Payges. While Payges does not include a disclaimer labeling this article as a work of fiction, a discussion on the Nairaland Forum revealed that FNN stood for "Fake Nigeria News."

Additionally, Trump did not have a rally in Wichita, Kansas, as alleged by the above-quoted article, at any point in January 2016. The quote has also not been recorded by any major publications at any point.

In sum, this is nothing more than yet another fictional quote falsely attributed to Trump

nonsense.

if you cnt deal with our naira, then Bleep off our airspace.

can we tender Naira to buy flight ticket in Uk/USA. will it be accepted.

yet you want us to accept your own currency in our country.

you see them talking about repatriatin fund to their country.

if you must repatriate fund back to you country, them go with Naira and exchange it in your country.

Naira must be strengthened.
outright ban on dollar/pound spending be impose.

paying for jet fuel in dollars here in nigeria should not be accepted, they should exchange their dollar to naira and pay the marketers in naira, this are tinz that will help strengthen our Naira.

we have accept all their rubbish over the years, but now it time we take our stand.

African should stand tall and face the devilish white people to their face, we should stop fueling white man economy at the detriment of our own.

Just like Zimbabwe adopt the spending of Chinese YEN as a ledger tender in their country just because of $40billion debt.

So many of u here are bereft of common sense. U guys lack basic understanding of issues. Even after reading the post, u came up with this garbage above? Can u show me anywhere in the post that the airlines were advocating that flight tickets be purchased in naira? The spokesperson was just complaining about the inability of the airlines to repatriate the Naira that they have accumulated in Nigeria due to the scarcity of foreign exchange, a resultant effect of the recent cbn's forex policy. He never asked that they be allowed to sell tickets in foreign exchange, rather, he asked that cbn should make foreign exchange available to the important sectors that derive the economy. Our leaders have made the attraction of foreign investments one of their main priorities. Now, tell me the foreign investor in his/her right senses that will invest in an economy that won't allow for repatriation of funds?

Our leaders are just wrecking the economy one day at a time. From the way they're a going, it won't take long before it is totally decimated. I believe they have ulterior motives.

[quote author=searchiing4love post=41038726][b]It is now crystal clear that Linda Ikeji's source of wealth is dirty and questionable due to her weak defense on allegations levelled against her concerning the #Dasuki gate scandal. I believe her blogging business is just a smoke screen to cover up her shady deals and political romance with Abuja big wigs. No sane mind would be convinced that linda maintains that life of affluence through selling of ads and blogging. As far as I'm concerned her blog and traffic is over hyped and is no match for Nairaland in publicity and traffic. Judging by traffic, the owner of Nairaland should have bought a private jet if it was easy as Linda portrays it to be. Most people attacked Linda's accusers on ethnic and tribal sentiments forgetting that in every rumor their is an iota of truth. Linda's show off on the newly acquired property in the most expensive area of Lagos on social media is enough reasons why the authorities need to beam their search lights on her. Blogging can never buy you a house in banana island no matter how hard you try to sugar coat your earnings. Don't forget that irrespective of what she earns, she spends money too and also portrays herself as the bread winner of her family meaning more responsibilities on her income. All this responsibilities and assets on that multicolored haggard website in the name of blogging Hell no. I won't be surprised if she is finally implicated in this arms saga. I hate people like you with passion, people who don't see any good in successful people. You are a typical example of a failure that is always looking for an alibi for his/her failure. U are jealous of the fact that a young woman is very successful in what she's doing and that you are a failure in your endeavours, that is, if you have any. U couldn't not imagine it. How dare a young woman be this successful while u are a failure? The best you could do was to run her down thereby boosting ur messed up ego and giving your pathetic existence an alibi.

Never you in your wildest dream compare Linda ikeji blog with Nairaland in terms of money. LIB, is streets ahead of NL. When last did u bring your sorry self to visit her blog? Have you bothered to check the number of adverts on the blog daily? How many adverts have you seen on NL? NL would have been very successful money wise, if not for your type that messed it up. Tell me the company that will decide to come here and advertise with the kind of childish posts and comments people leave here on a daily basis. For your information, having lots of traffic to a site is one thing, being able to monetize it is a different kettle of fish entirely. It is tbe adverts that generates money not the traffic. The demographic of people, your type, obviously, that troop here every day and the exhibitions that occur here, no doubt, drives potential advertisers away.

For the avoidance of doubt, Linda makes her money in MILLIONS monthly and has been, consistently, the top most earner amongst the bloggers for years in a row. He can afford to buy any property any where in Nigeria. Better believe it.

Meanwhile, keep looking for alibi for your failure in life, while the world passes you by.

So, you know that she makes 360m per year and yet, in the same breath, u are doubting her ability to buy a N560m house. Does this not show stupidity and inability to even comprehend what you have written. A person that earns N360m a year can afford to buy a house of N1b talk less N560m. Fellow Nairalanders,

Nairaland loves Igbos and Niger Deltans very much. The thought of being separated from them for any reason is unbearable to us, so we have decided that we will reject any attempt by anyone to use Nairaland to promote the idea of removing Igbos and Niger Deltans from Nigeria.

We have updated rule 9 of Nairaland to reflect this decision. It now says:

I'd like to urge all Nairaland members to respect and obey rule 9. Mynd44 is in charge of enforcing it. If you break this rule, you'll be banned.

Thanks,

Why disrespect the dreams and aspirations of others in such manner? OPC has been advocating for Oduduwa state and you have never found it necessary to ban it's promotion on this your piece of junk, NL, talk less of listing it together with known societal vices. I take a very strong exception to your post. It was very unnecessary and childish. U better retrace your step, and don't insult a whole tribe.

As far as I'm concerned, Okonjo has no case to answer here. It's a big fat lie for Premium Times to say that under no condition could the executive spend funds that has not been appropriated by the National Assembly. Well, it may interest them to know that there are conditions that will warrant the executive to spend money that was never appropriated. Situations of utter exigencies, like when the country is fighting a war, do warrant, atimes, that monies not appropriated be spent in prosecution of such wars. The reason being that, waiting for the Congress to sit and appropriate the fund, will be inimical to the successful prosecution of the war. The country was/and is still in a war and it would have been inimical and fool hardy for Gej to have waited for the appropriation of the fund by the Congress before releasing it when Boko Haram was almost over running the north east. He had the liberty to spend the money and then seek appropriation retroactively, something Obj did many times during his regime.
Okonjo was in her legal right to release those funds at the time she did. Had she released the fund, let's say for road construction, without appropriation, then, and only then would she be answerable for that. Finally, Reporters should stick to news report instead of dabbling into the legal angles of stories they report.

Politics / Re: Why Apc’s Alhassan Was Declared Taraba Governor — Tribunal by Inoknowbook: 2:03am On Nov 08, 2015
The freaking tribunal is made up of a bunch of illiterates masquerading as lawyers. I'm ashamed on their behalf for the so called grounds for nullification. The sections of the electoral law cited as the foundation for the conclusion can only be invoked if there was a challenge to the results of the primary by a member of the PDP. It cannot be invoked by a person who has no locus whatsoever to challenge the primary. APC's candidate had no locus to challenge PDP's primary. As if she knew, she did not do anything in that regard in her petition. Her lawyers knew she had no basis to question the emergence of the governor as the candidate for PDP. The tribunal in its effrontery, raised the issue suo moto. The tribunal does not have the freedom to raise issues not raised by either of the parties. Doing so, will be fatal to the case as it will give the impression that it sided with one of the parties thereby depriving the other his/her fundamental rights to fair hearing. Citing the electoral law, at best, was an attempt to grasp at straw in attempt to arrive at a preordained result. I guess the lady was not able to prove electoral malpractice that would justify a judgement in her favor. if there were to be hope for the judiciary, the judgement will not stand the test of time in the appellate courts. Every member of that tribunal, who is a lawyer, has to be sanctioned. It's very shameful. Mind you, I'm just an obsever.

I think and I believe that there's something spiritually wrong with your fiancee. She may have "spiritual husband, " if actually there's anything like that. So, I don't understand how he got the info that people hide food under the bed. As for guys buying each other drinks for free, it still happens a lot. The story is filled with the writer's wack imaginations, but it's an interesting read. The one that beats them all was where he wrote that the two of the guys that were caught with him that were convicted and sentenced to death were already executed by the next adjourned date. No country executes as fast as that, not even Indonesia. Convicts sentenced to death are left to languish in prison for many years, while they avail themselves of their rights to appeal etc before being executed. I guess the OP was carried away and probably has never visited Malaysia. I'll advise that he does, even a modicum, some research on fictional topics he wants to write about in the future. While this story makes an interesting read, passing it off as a real life event is the height fictional madness.

For those saying that fighting corruption will now be tough with Saraki at the helm of things in the senate, nothing could be farther from the truth as that. The president, obviously, does not need the legislature to fight corruption, all the laws that he needs are already there in the book. It is just for him to enforce them. The problem with Nigeria has never been the dearth of necessary laws for the fight against corruption, rather, it has always been the lack of zeal/ desire on the part of our leadership to enforce the law. We have in this country a plethora of laws that adequately addresses corruption. So, if buhari or apc fails to fight corruption, they shouldn't hide under such lame of an excuse. We don't need new laws, we need the enforcement of the existing ones.

Hi, if they fail to pay him eventually, let him get a good lawyer and file a breach of contract suit against them. It might take some time, but he will surely get judgement. A business man must be ready to take cases like this to court, otherwise, people will make a mess of you. For the process to be quicker, ask your lawyer to bring the suit under the undefended list, as I do not see any defense the company has for not paying him. By the way, that the company failed to appear in court in the past, doesn't mean that they're above the law. If they fail to appear, go ahead and pursue the case to its logical conclusion. Your lawyer could bring an application for summary judgment in default of appearance. It is when you now go to levy execution of the judgement that you will be able to determine whether, indeed, they're above the law. For me, I'll rather my opponent do not appear in court as that will make my case easier and faster.

So, let him not lose hope. He should make use of our legal system to get justice. He might in the long run get far more than he's asking them for from the law court.

All these judges are dafts and half baked. How could u grant an other that cannot stand the test of time if scrutinized by a superior court? The judge has no business granting an order that deprives people of their fundamental right to fair hearing. It is only a half baked judge that would grant a senseless order as the one that bars any new litigant on the issue. U cannot force people to participate in a class action lawsuit. It is their prerogative to decide whether to join a class action suit or not. Whoever does not want to join has the fundamental right to bring a separate lawsuit against multichoice. That order could be easily challenged in the superior court and got dismissed. It is very apparent that the judge does not know his onions when it cones to legal jurisprudence. It's a sad tale on our judiciary.

You guys singing the praises of Akwa Ibom should take a chill pill please. Further more, never make the mistake of comparing the state with other non oil producing states. The proper comparison should be with other oil producing states. Do you know that besides the regular monthly allocation Akwa Ibom gets together with every state, it goes further to get huge sum from the 13% derivation funds solely reserved for oil producing states? And from the records, Akwa Ibom gets a larger share of the derivation fund than other oil states. Do you know that the five eastern states put together, for example, does not get half of what Akwa Ibom gets as revenue from the derivation fund? Go and check the records, it is there for every one to see.

Mind you, i'm not begrudging the state, they deserve every penny they get. My only issue is that all these praise singing and comparisons with states that depend solely on meager monthly federal allocation, should be put in proper perspective. Get to know the figure Akwa Ibom gets from the feds, compare it with what other states, especially the non oil producing states, and conclude for yourself if the exercise makes sense in the first place. I believe that the proper comparison should be done with the states that gets extra funds from the derivative fund.

For the Akwa Ibomites, you will be doing yourself and your state a big disservice, if you do not endeavor to find out if the pace of development going on now in your state is commensurate with what it gets from the fed. Your governor may be a performing governor, but is the rate of development at par with the amount he receives? Ask yourself that.

Science/Technology / United States Now The World's Largest Oil Producer. by Inoknowbook: 6:41pm On Jul 04, 2014
The U.S. will remain the world’s biggest oil producer this year after overtaking Saudi Arabia and Russia as extraction of energy from shale rock spurs the nation’s economic recovery, Bank of America Corp. said.

U.S. production of crude oil, along with liquids separated from natural gas, surpassed all other countries this year with daily output exceeding 11 million barrels in the first quarter, the bank said in a report today. The country became the world’s largest natural gas producer in 2010. The International Energy Agency said in June that the U.S. was the biggest producer of oil and natural gas liquids.

“The U.S. increase in supply is a very meaningful chunk of oil,” Francisco Blanch, the bank’s head of commodities research, said by phone from New York. “The shale boom is playing a key role in the U.S. recovery. If the U.S. didn’t have this energy supply, prices at the pump would be completely unaffordable.”

Oil extraction is soaring at shale formations in Texas and North Dakota as companies split rocks using high-pressure liquid, a process known as hydraulic fracturing, or fracking. The surge in supply combined with restrictions on exporting crude is curbing the price of West Texas Intermediate, America’s oil benchmark. The U.S., the world’s largest oil consumer, still imported an average of 7.5 million barrels a day of crude in April, according to the Department of Energy’s statistical arm.

Surpassing Saudi

U.S. oil output will surge to 13.1 million barrels a day in 2019 and plateau thereafter, according to the IEA, a Paris-based adviser to 29 nations. The country will lose its top-producer ranking at the start of the 2030s, the agency said in its World Energy Outlook in November.

“It’s very likely the U.S. stays as No. 1 producer for the rest of the year” as output is set to increase in the second half, Blanch said. Production growth outside the U.S. has been lower than the bank anticipated, keeping global oil prices high, he said.

Partly as a result of the shale boom, WTI futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange remain at a discount of about $7 a barrel to their European counterpart, the Brent contract on ICE Futures Europe’s London-based exchange. WTI was at $103.74 a barrel as of 4:13 p.m. London time.

Islamist Insurgency

“The shale production story is bigger than Iraqi production, but it hasn’t made the impact on prices you would expect,” said Blanch. “Typically such a large energy supply growth should bring prices lower, but in fact we’re not seeing that because the whole geopolitical situation outside the U.S. is dreadful.”

Territorial gains in northern Iraq by a group calling itself the Islamic State has spurred concerns that oil flows could be disrupted in the second-largest producer in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries after Saudi Arabia. Exports from Libya have been reduced by protests, while Nigeria’s production is crimped by oil theft and sabotage.

Libya will resume exports as soon as possible from two oil ports in the country’s east after taking back control from rebels who blocked crude shipments for the past year, Mohamed Elharari, spokesman for the state-run National Oil Corp., said by phone yesterday from Tripoli.

The U.S. will consolidate its position as the world’s biggest producer in the coming months if returning Libyan supply limits the need for Saudi barrels, said Julian Lee, an oil strategist who writes for Bloomberg News First Word. The observations he makes are his own.

Record Investment

“There’s a very strong linkage between oil production growth, economic growth and wage growth across a range of U.S. states,” Blanch said. Annual investment in oil and gas in the country is at a record $200 billion, reaching 20 percent of the country’s total private fixed-structure spending for the first time, he said.

A U.S. Commerce Department decision to allow the overseas shipment of processed ultra-light oil called condensate has fanned speculation the nation may ease its four-decade ban on most crude exports. Pioneer Natural Resources Co. and Enterprise Products Partners LP will be allowed to export condensate, provided it is first subject to preliminary distillation, the companies said June 25.

The decision was “a positive first step” to dispersing the build-up of crude supply in North America, Bank of America said in a report on June 27. The U.S. could potentially have daily exports of 1 million barrels of crude, including 300,000 of condensate, by the end of the year, according to a June 25 report from Citigroup Inc.

Culled from the Bloomberg.

I've tried so hard but I can't understand ur ranting. Everyone is entitled to his opinion but u can do that like a civilised person without calling names or being abusive. Ok Mikel is the best player Nigeria has ever produced. Are u happy now? If u have something to say then say it and give us reason to accept.

If u don't understand me, I'll suggest u go back to school. U guys deserve every bit of my vituperation for making a mockery of someone that put in his best for the country. Stop trying to kill another person's career. Ingrates!!

You Nigerians are bunch of ingrates! For you guys to be talking about Mikel in this manner is very unfortunate. I don't blame anybody that refuses to represent Nigeria in whatever capacity because our memory span is just too short. All of a sudden, you have forgotten mikels contributions towards our winning the last African cup of nations. I could remember that most of you were rating him high for his efforts and were commenting about him positively. Now that he had a poor showing at the world cup, you all are now condemning him. You all are nothing but ingrates. U can quote me any day, any time.

All u faceless idiots that are bent on killing someone's career, anonymously, should go and ask all the past coaches of Chelsea fc, and even murihno, why the keep using him in matches after matches despite being 'overrated'. I seriously doubt that all u faceless minions know better than these coaches.

Players are not machines that are programmed to perform flawlessly at every point in time. Machines do fail, talk less, humans. It believe it's high time you guys got off your butts and find something worthwhile to do instead of venting on Mikel for ur miserable lives. Mikel is already successful, go work for your success. Fools!

Exactly!!! This woman is just disgracing us, Ndigbo. Enough of her baggage. She should be shown the way out. This has nothing to do with tribalism and I wonder why people are generalizing. afterall, the house committee that found her guilty was chaired by another Igbo woman and one of the members of the committee that testified against her is also an Igbo. All these Igbo-defending apostles should please stay off.

We will tackle her till the end. She is a disgrace to all hardworking women in Nigeria, Africa and around the world. This time around Stella Oduah must go down. She can't continue to hold public office, her end is Kiriki....Even if this government does not ensure that, we will make sure she ends up in prison for her crimes against the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Once the APC ascends the presidency, I can assure you the likes of Stella Oduah and any corrupt person for that matter, be it APC, PDP or whatever will rot in Jail. Mark my word! A new Nigeria is on its way!

If anybody deserves to be rotting in jail, it's u, ffk. Nigeria was so unfortunate to have u foisted upon us by the edeeota at ota. You left the ministry in worst shape than you met it after pillaging and robbing it blind. Your days are numbered. If the present government continues delaying putting you where u belong, to wit, in prison, I, as a law abiding and tax paying citizen of Nigeria will apply for the ag's fiat, and prosecute u myself.
You cannot take the fact that the Augean stable you left behind is being cleansed by a woman.

Adesiji77: @OP...Thanks for sharing this. However, I suggest that you acknowledge the original writer/source so that you won't be accused of plagiarism. I am quite sure that the article had appeared earlier in one of the major dailies.

Thank you, Mr Adesiji, for being observant. While not taking away from the import of the message being passed by the post, as I was reading it, I knew it was not OP's original write up. I am very sure that some part of the post, not having to do with the hypothetical case, was plagiarized. I'm very sure that I have read something similar to the bottom half of the post somewhere else. It is high time we, as Nigerians, started acknowledging authors of articles and pieces that we lifted.

Meanwhile, the intended message is still a very valid one.

Education / One Block Portakabin Ghana Varcity To Partner With Nairaland. by Inoknowbook: 7:59pm On Dec 26, 2013
One block Portakabin Ghana University (Accra Institute of Technology) to soon partner with Nairaland in recruiting Nigerian students. I have a strong suspicion that Seun has an interest in the school. See below:

How Nigerian students are recruited

Armed with a whole array of agents in Nigeria who conduct education fairs, road shows – alongside master piece websites and a well functional social media presence, especially Facebook and Twitter - these universities get the attention of Nigerian students who are often disappointed with the country's education system.

The situation is such that institutions like Accra Institute of Technology, operating from one-block buildings, have the largest population of the official 110,000 Nigerian students studying in Ghana.

Dotting the Ghanaian landscape, these private universities compete with one another for space as well as the attention of foreign students, especially Nigerians, as they set up campuses under different names. The majority of them, irrespective of where they are situated, usually have city campuses alongside other campuses spread across the country.

Confirming the desperation of Nigerians for university education in Ghana, Registrar of AIT, Mr. Dominic Osei-Boakye, says, "When it comes to university education Nigerians are more ambitious. Surprisingly you will see a 16-year-old girl who leaves Nigeria for Ghana all by herself to school. They are highly ambitious and an average Nigerian parent has the confidence that their 16-year-old child will behave well here (in Ghana) and apply their ambition in the positive way."

Explaining how the institution recruits Nigerian students, Osei-Boakye, says he has been to Lagos, Port Harcourt and other major cities in the country with a view to enrolling them. He notes that the institution has also begun to leverage the use of social networking sites as an inexpensive way of reaching out to prospective Nigerian students.

"We go around the country and you know our website is there too. Now we are planning to do one or two things on nairaland.com (a popular online forum) while we also make use of our YouTube page and other social media," he adds.

ROSSIKE: Who cares? I mean, what exactly are we supposed to do with this information?

Dumbed down Rubbish.

I have always known you to be a pathetic a@s$0le. You won't appreciate what she's done for parents because your source of livelihood depends on robbing the commonwealth. Linda, even though a lady, is more of a man than you are. Whatever she has, was gotten out of her very honest labor. But what of you? Your wages comes from stolen commonwealth. Shame on you, Mr Rossike, shame on you. Better go and find an honest work so that you can be proud of yourself for once. And while, you are at it, try to appreciate those that are working hard for their money. It is a good virtue to imbibe.
