Atheism depends on evidence, xtians depend on faith.A true Christian (someone who TRULY follows the teachings of Yeshua) wouldn't have run away in the first place. Yes God won't make such a person confess but his love for God would make him confess. |

cyrexx: Does Bible and Quran stop people from telling lies?Not always true for every case. Some people might lie and later feel very sorry for lying but a true adherent(fundamentalist) to any of those faiths wouldn't lie. |

ooman: you will only take an oath if you were religious. if not, you will be left with your scruple. The evidence is for/against you what stops you from any further lieslet's assume someone was accidentaly knocked down by a car, the person sustains life threatening injuries from the accident. The driver of the car speeds away from the scene but the car's number plate is captured on a phone's camera (just the car, no way to determine the driver). The authorities trace the car to the owner, arrest him and he is sued by the victim of the accident. The owner tries to explain in futility that he was not the one driving the car but his friend whom he lent, the authorities won't hear any of that since he has no proof that he lent his friend. The innocent man is pronounced guilty and is made to pay a hefty fine. The guilty one continues living his life (afterall the evidence didn't point to him). Although he commited the crime, he refused to pay the price for his crime (afterall all he lost was just a foolish friend). My question again, what exactly stops an atheist from lying? |

As to what's good and what's evil, there really aren't any clear definitions from my experience. As you rightly pointed out, what I may consider evil might be considered good by you. Sometimes, for the sake of sanity and peace, we have to compromise.But then if we continue to compromise, it'll reach a point where everything will be accepted (imagine paedophilles clamouring for rights). |

This got me thinking: A theist believes all source of morality comes from God or gods. He tries to live his life pleasing that God/gods and tries to obey his creator's commandments. For an atheist however, there is no God. How then do atheists determine what is right or wrong? I mean, a Christian for instance decides to be honest in all aspects of his life because he loves God, a Muslim decides to be generous because he wants to submit to Allah and so on and so forth but for an atheist, I can't seem to understand what exactly is their driving force. What exactly stops an atheist from cheating on his wife? From scamming his boss? From lieing to his children? From being dishonest? From being greedy/selfish? How exactly does an atheist determine what is right or wrong? .......The thread is open to all and sundry...... |

What if the whole story is just an allegory? Anyways, someone on this forum once said that God created many men apart from Adam (obadiah777)- check out his profile, i think his explanation makes sense. Lemme try to get a link to the thread where he talked on this particular issue. |

Okay, the world has finally come to an end, the tribulation period is over, Christ has ruled for a thousand years, satan is finally judged and thrown into the lake of fire along with all those who followed him. It is now time for the saints to enjoy eternity (hopefully nobody rebels this time again). So what exactly will the chosen ones be doing for all eternity? yeah sure, they never feel hungry, fall sick or die (except of course you are in Obadiah777's version of eternity where you die but you live for aeons). So what do would we be doing for all eternity? * singing and telling God how holy He is? * Celebrating the torture of lost souls in hell faya? more singing and repetitive actions!!! ^^^ What I can deduce from your post is that Jesus is the same as Yahweh and He created everything in order to learn obedience from His creation(s). Firstly, this makes no sense and secondly, it doesn't answer the questions the op raised. |

With what I've seen on this thread, I can clearly say that this country is a time bomb waiting to explode. Imagine grown up men arguing about which language is superior. See how the thread has drifted from the original topic to meaningless rants from childish adults. When will we look past our diffferences and realise that we are all humans? You are only Hausa because your parents were Hausas, you are only Igbo because your parents were Igbos, you are only yoruba because your parents were yorubas, you are only Ijaw because your parents were Ijaws (the same goes for every other tribe in Nigeria). I feel that there is still hope for this country cos I realised during the afcon tournament that Nigerians can really be united if they want to. Stop Tribalism !!! |
