PoliticsRe: Again, House Of Reps Passes Nigerian Peace Corps Bill by integrity16(m): 5:40pm On Feb 29, 2024
AliEzeOlu:
Bad belle everywhere... Y'all will be disappointed. See this Peace Corps, it would be signed and it's Tinubu that will sign it this very year. All you bad belle, make una hug transformer.
We have got over 1300 agencies of government of which many are performing overlapping functions and some are even redundant but yet collecting allocations and fat salaries.

This is part of the reason why inflation is going north, too much naira in the hands of people without adding anything productive to the economy.

Ok let me ask you, please explain to me why we need peace corps ? What is peace corps bringing to the table that other paramilitary agencies are not already performing.

Proliferation of government agencies must stop

I read some comments above, I was so pitiful of how some of us think in variance to strategic way to development and growth of our dear nation. Even some of the unemployed are against peace corps bill.

Some few comments made by some youths and adults who are presently employed are crazy and wrong. Do we prefer politicians stealing our common wealth rather than channeling it towards our youths being employed.....instead of making them idle for years without direction. Peace corps will create employment opportunities to the idle youths....and spontaneously reduce evil vices such as olosho, hook-up and yahoo trades.

Posts like these would reduced drastically in our society:

This is how some of us did when Buhari was there, shortsightedly.
The civil service is already over bloated. We don't need peace corps. Would peace corps bring down the value of Naira?

Local government Full autonomy is the best way to go.

Let local government chairmen handle their allocation and devoid of any form of approval from the state governors.

The government had succeeded in dividing them as I expected.

This reaction was probably triggered by the decision of government to pay two months arrears of their wage award. Don't forget the civil servants belong to Trade union Congress

HealthRe: Nigerians Turn To Traditional Healers As Prices Of Drugs Go Out Of Reach by integrity16(m): 6:54am On Feb 12, 2024
nedekid:
Hmm, you may be right Africans have been brainwashed. Maybe..
But on the other hand enough awareness has not been made about certain issues concerning kidneys and liver diseases. Pray you never have cause to have renal issues, I have, and that was when I heard for the first time nephrology. The first question I was asked was if I use Agbo. According to the consultant, 90% of his cases had links to local herbs etc. Each consultation cost me 50k(dont know how much now because of inflation). I am not talking of medication ohh, just consultation. Imagine it gets to needing dialisis or transplant.
Fine western drugs are gotten from herbs. But the active ingrident is used and dozes calibrated while the impurity is discarded.
Anyway, if who chooses to use is free to.

I understand you. I think that Nigerians like to abuse anything unregulated by the government. That agbo is the cause of kidney failures is down to the fact that people abuse it's intake.

If I may ask, how were you able to survive it?

nedekid:
Agbo will end up killing more people. Just pray God gives you the capacity to afford proper medical treatment while others swallow Agbo.
I can see Africans had been brainwashed by the west to think that their local herbs which their fore fathers had benefitted from is not good for them , they even had to brand it "Alternate Medicine" when they could no longer deny it's efficacy.

The only drawback of Agbo is in it's dosage, once we get the dosages right, you don't have a problem.

PoliticsRe: Court Orders FG To Fix Price Of Goods, Petroleum Within 7 Days by integrity16(m): 3:27pm On Feb 08, 2024
Kukutenla:
PIA does not remove price controls, it only remove subsidy.
Majority of goods listed in the Act are not locally made. Check again
Have you read the PIA regulation?? I don't think so but I will lessen the burden for you.

There is a provision for cost recovery and pricing under the PIA. On market-based pricing, Section 205 of the PIA mandates that market-based principles determine the prices of petroleum products in the downstream sector.

Section 208 of the Act develops a pricing framework that will ensure reasonable returns to operators in the sector while protecting the interests of consumers.

Section 207 of the PIA provides that the pricing of petroleum products shall be cost-reflective. This means that the price of a product should reflect the cost of producing, transporting, and distributing the product.”

Section 169 of the PIA provides that the prices of petroleum products in the downstream sector align with the pricing framework. The Authority can sanction any operator contravening the pricing regulations.

From the above, you can see that pricing concerns has already been taken care of by the PIA. The Price Control Act can't hold sway in the oil industry
PoliticsRe: Court Orders FG To Fix Price Of Goods, Petroleum Within 7 Days by integrity16(m): 2:06pm On Feb 08, 2024
Kukutenla:
These are the commodities whose price are to be controlled by the price control act. Petroleum products are covered.
It was a 1978 law re-enacted in 2004
Are you aware of the newly enacted Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) that governs both the upstream midstream and downstream sectors? My point is they cannot enforce price control on petroleum products because PIA has already taken care of this.

I am not against control of prices of locally made goods, refined petroleum products are not locally made yet, maybe until dangote refinery comes on stream.

PoliticsRe: Court Orders FG To Fix Price Of Goods, Petroleum Within 7 Days by integrity16(m): 1:04pm On Feb 08, 2024
Falana is just testing the law, there is a Price Control Act in the Nigeria's constitution so there is nothing wrong in what he has done.

Some of our laws are contradictory especially when you consider fixing prices for petroleum products when we already have the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).

Our legislooters should sit up and work on these contradictory laws in our constitution instead of chasing money for constituency projects and make irrelevant laws.
