Last night, Lionel Messi scored his 500th career goal in the win against Valencia. And, he's still just 28. 435 goals for Barcelona 49 goals for Argentina 14 goals for Argentina U20, and 2 goals for Argentina U23. Guess he deserves being the world best then. http://biggerson.com/lionel-messi-scores-his-500th-career-goal/

Just as his campaign against corruption continues, President Buhari had reportedly sent a letter to the Senate asking for the amendment of two bills that will advance his fight against corruption yesterday. The bills are the Money Laundering Prevention and Prohibition Bill 2016 and the Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Bill 2016. The Money Laundering Prevention and Prohibition Bill 2016, if passed into law, as reported, would definitely, expand the scope of money laundering offenses and also provide protection for employees of various institutions as well as bodies who may discover money laundering. It also has to do with the establishment of mutual legal assistance in criminal matters. Not only that. If the bill is passed into law, it will also enhance customer due diligence, provide appropriate penalties and even expand the scope of supervisory bodies, while recognizing the role of certain self-regulatory organisations to address the challenges faced in implementation of comprehensive anti-money regime. The second bill which is the Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Bill 2016, aims at facilitating the assistance of other countries whenever a criminal offence is committed outside Nigeria. As reported, such assistance will include the provision and obtaining of evidence. The Bill will also seeks the making of arrangements for persons to give evidence or assist in criminal investigations; recovery, forfeiture or confiscation of property in respect of offences; the restraining of dealings in property or the freezing of assets that may be recovered. Also, It also seeks the forfeiting, or confiscation in respect of offences, the execution of request for search and seizure, the location and identification of witnesses and suspects, the service of documents and other matters connected with it. http://biggerson.com/buhari-presents-2-anti-corruption-bill-to-senate-for-passage/ lalasticlala |

Actually, following North Korea on Twitter is not a crime, a South Korean court ruled Thursday. Yeah, a 73-year-old South Korean man was accused of distributing pro-North Korea propaganda after he followed the country's official account on the social network. Prosecutors alleged the former journalist, that was identified only as Lee, was sympathizing with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's communist kingdom -- an illegal act under South Korean law. Actually, South Korea's controversial National Security Law criminalizes "anti-state" acts and forbids citizens from supporting the North in any context. However, because Lee didn't retweet any posts, he was found not guilty of sharing or distributing North Korean content and was acquitted, The Guardian reports. Nevertheless, even if his Twitter profile didn't land him behind bars, his personal blog did. The Korea Times reports Lee was sentenced to a year in jail anyway for praising the North on his blog years ago. Buy, Human rights groups and other critics have pointed out that these South Korean "security" measures are simply a way to censor citizens. The National Security Law had been said to "continues to be used as a tool to attempt to silence dissent, and to harass and arbitrarily prosecute individuals and civil society organizations who are peacefully exercising their rights to freedom of expression, opinion and association," argued Amnesty International in a 2012 report. And, as expected, tensions are running high again between North and South Korea. http://biggerson.com/south-korean-man-acquitted-for-following-north-korea-on-twitter/

In Nigeria today, there are many opportunities waiting to be explored. And one thing is that, anyone that take a step in utilizing one or two opportunities which we‘ve got around, will have rewards for it. However, what many of these opportunities requires is something called ‘creativity’. And one of them has something to do with events. There are many event centers that might not be having patrons as they should. Look around your surroundings, perhaps they are around you. And if they are, then you could utilize the opportunity to get yourself some money (if it’s meant for you). Here Are Tips For You: Approach them: Yes, approach them. Approach the manager, and discuss with them. Tell them that, if they can give you a discount, you will bring customers to them. Your job is to partner with them to give them more customers to their venues. Proposal: Your proposal title could be something like this: ‘Partnering To Get More Clients For You.’ Negotiating Power: You must be able to convince them to give you a big discount (so that people will prefer coming to you than they directly.) Your job is to refer people to event centers. You will use discounts to connect the person that needs the event center to the one that owns the event center- and you get paid by the event centers. Marketing: You must be willing and able to sell yourself. You are required to let people know of your service- which is through adverts and promotions. The main thing here is that, if people patronize the centers through you, they will pay less. Thus, try to always make them see reasons why they ought come through you. http://mennigeria..com.ng/2015/02/make-money-by-partnering-with-event.html

1. Nigerian men are said to treat their wives as second in command. According to someone: ‘…they expect their woman to be there for them, answer when they call and they always want to make the final decision.’ In many cases, this is true. But you can’t put all blames on Nigerian men. It is simply the way they were brought up. It is what they see in their society and environments; it is how hey were brought up. 2. A Nigerian man is expected to have leave his parent’s home at most, 30 years of age, to fend for himself, and build his own home. If he failed to do this, he is prone to be regarded as an irresponsible person, a lazy person, or even a failure. Men in Nigeria are expected to be independent at most, 30 years of age. 3. The Nigerian man is naturally a workaholic. They go out in the morning and they return back in the evening. They don’t usually get fed up with wealth acquisition. This is true to many men. In Nigeria, this is what is expected of a man. However, there are some lazy ones that will prefer relying on their parents, siblings, family, friends, or even spouse. In fact, in Nigeria, it seem these category of lazy men could do anything just to marry a rich lady. http://mennigeria..com.ng/2015/02/3-facts-believed-about-nigerian-men.html#more

So I've realized that one huge difference between the Nigerian Army and the American Army is that the later consist of people who have the love of the country, as well as the profession at heart. While the former is made up of funny people who joined, either due to lack of job in the country, or with the absurd mindset (and intention) of using the uniform as a tool of forced respect and intimidation. Mind you, do you know that the army are now collecting money from those touts at the bus stops? Seriously, something need to be done in Nigeria. |
Remember, the Master Himself (our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ) said the world will hate us because it hated Him. Let us hold still and keep fighting our good fight. Victory is Near!!!! |

Written by Sunday Moshood Dayo’s face beamed a smile as he studied himself in the huge mirror inside his room. The image in the naked mirror reflects that of a happy young man cladded in a white ironed suit; knotting a tie. Even when the tie had stayed in it place, he couldn’t help but admire the image that the mirror was showing him. So it’s true that if GOD insert joy in a person’s heart, it would definitely manifest on the person’s body. So the handsomeness of a man should actually be credited to the joy in his heart. His thoughts raved back to those tough times himself and his parents passed through, few years ago. He remembered how his father had to sell the family’s house to send him to university after losing his job; then how his mother began hawking vegetables to support him in school. He also remembered how he started doing labor jobs whenever he’s not in the lecture room; he had engaged in labor jobs to get money for handouts to avoid the wraths of his lecturers. But despites those agonies, his parents never allow their troubles to affect the faith they had in GOD. Whenever he revealed his ordeals in campus during holiday visits, they’d comfort him with counsels from the Bible. They charged him with words like: GOD have a reason for every season. They told him not to allow these tough occurrences push him away from the path of eternity. And as a good boy that was well trained in a good Christian home, he stitched his parent’s advice close to his heart. Even when his room mates began patronizing sugar mummies for huge monies, he prayed to GOD to help him not to fall into this temptation because of the monies his friends were displaying on daily basis. Whenever his room mates returned with thousands of naira after few hours with this women, an urge from a part of his mind advices him to try it- just once. But that urge never emerges again when one of the boys was used for money ritual by his sugar mummy; it never came again even after he graduated with a first class upper degree in banking and finance. GOD really blessed him after the graduation. He got a job in a bank few weeks after graduation; he was promoted that year and awarded a house in ikoyi as the most outstanding staff. When he brought his parents to the house for them to start living with him, they couldn’t do anything but go down on their knees to thank GOD. And they have been enjoying GOD ever since. The next thing he has on his agenda was: to marry a good looking woman. And the only woman who caught his attention was Miss Lara Bode-a beautiful young lady who was recently transferred from another branch in Abuja. So as he stared at himself in the mirror today, he considered himself a lucky man because he has a date with Lara that evening after work. And he thought Lara could make a good wife and……… “Son its time for morning devotion” his mother called out. Miles Away 7:15 am Thousand miles away from Lagos, a woman entered a building that resemble a shrine and sat on the little stool opposite the old herbalist that was sitting on the bare floor. She removed a photograph from her hand bag and passed it to the old herbalist. The old herbalist stared at the photograph for few seconds before putting it in front of the mirror which serves the purpose of conversing with his deities. He pulled himself up and picked a small arrow lying beside the mirror. “What is the boy’s name again?” he asked the woman. “Dayo Afolahan” the woman replied. “Are you still sure you want to do this to your only sister’s son?” the old man asked. “Yes baba, do it so both of us would be in the same level again.” She replied with a wicked grin. The old herbalist commences his job immediately; he began chanting dread incantations. When he seems to be satisfied, he rubbed the arrow with the blood of a cock he had killed earlier. But he felt something strange and odd happening which was unknown to the woman; the herbalist knew something was wrong but the woman didn’t. Anytime he tried piercing the photograph with the small arrow, it keeps bouncing back- which means the person in the photograph is still safe and sound. After demanding solutions from his deities, he faced the woman.” My daughter” he began,” we wouldn’t do this in day time; when it’s dark, tonight we re-write the rules, we would complete it” “Okay baba” she replied. LAGOS 7:00 pm Dayo pulled the car in front of Lara’s apartment; ‘Thank you; I really enjoyed my self to the fullest“ Lara told him. He replied with a smile. ‘Why not come in and check out my apartment “she pleaded, looking straight into his face. ‘Don’t go’ a voice told him from within. “Come on, she meant no harm” another encouraged him. “Please” Lara again. He glanced at his wrist watch, and then Lara’s pleading face. “Okay, that would be fine” he ignorantly agreed. In the sitting room, Lara excused herself and came out to join him few minutes later- putting on the most transparent night gown he has ever seen. She sat very close to him on the sofa; and he felt her soft spots that got him enticed. “Stand up and leave!” That first voice warned him again. “Come on, she meant no harm” the second voice told him. Then he began getting weaker and weaker; until he put his hands on her even before she reached out for them; right there on the sofa. MILES AWAY 12 AM The old herbalist tied a red clothe round his waist. “Quickly! He is not protected!” a demon exclaimed to him. Without wasting any more time, he quickly rubbed the arrow with the blood; then he hauled it at the direction of the photograph with all his strength; this time it sank deep into it. LAGOS 12:02 AM “HEeeeeehhhhh” he screamed from his sleep. Even before his parents rushed to his room, they knew something has gone wrong somewhere. http://www.splendidtalks.com/2015/12/the-benefits-of-being-watchful.html#more lalasticlala |

The incident that occurred yesterday in my class was the one worst one I’ve ever experienced in my life. I found myself in a terrible situation that was beyond my deepest imaginations. I was been called a thief. I was accused of what I knew nothing of. I was grievous and I felt devastated. The ‘woos’ and‘boos’ that were rained on me still rang a bell in my hurt memory this morning.I have tried defending myself, to convince my class teacher and other students that I was innocent. I tried proving my innocence regarding the crime box that was passed upon me. But in as much as I tried, nothing came out of my mouth, only gabbles do. I only stood motionlessly and unbalanced, sweating profusely in front of over 25 students; shriving and crying uncontrollably. “Thief, thief, thief” they hollered at me mercilessly. I was embarrassed and dripped in shame with disgrace. My everything was at stake. My class captainship, the trust and love my class teacher with the other staffs has for me, were all at stake. How the missing phone was eventually found inside my own locker still remain a mystery to me, even till now. My locker was locked securely with a padlock which was neither found broken nor tampered with. We all could havee asily said someone planted it there assuming the locker was found being tampered with, but it wasn’t. Then, how come? The padlock had only three keys that could open it. One is with my dad; the second is always with me, while the last one is kept with the class teacher, as a rule in my class. One of the rules in my class is that, every student must have one of the keys to his or her locker with the class teacher. That usually saves a student the stress of going back home when he or she has forgotten his or her key at home. It couldn’t be concluded that someone had stolen the key that was kept with the class teacher. That is because, apart from me being the class captain, and my seatmate and friend Gbenga- being the assistant class captain, no other student knows where the keys are kept in the class teacher’s office. I never misplaced my own keys. So I’ve got no clue whatsoever on how the locker was opened. As I lay on the bed this morning, my mind idly drifted back to the day I began the college. I vividly remember when I was enrolled into Maripime College, Ikorodu. It was about nineweeks ago. My father had been transferred to a newly constructed Church atIkorodu from the headquarters in Badagry as the assembly Pastor. Though I missed my former school, it wasn’t quite eminent because thisisn’t the first time he was being transferred to another geographical setting.I’m already used to being moved. On that cool Monday morning, my dad drove me to the school in his car, though it wasn’t such a long distance from our new home. After the carscreeched to a halt, we headed towards the principal’s office. After allnecessary fees were settled, I was handed to Mr. Morgan, the class teacher ofS.S.S 2 Science department. Mr. Morgan received me warmly and introduced me to the class. He showedme my seat which luckily was located in my favorite position- front. It was occupied by a student and I joined him, becoming his seat mate. As I sat down, I quietly observed my new class. The first thing I noticed is that the class room is quite spacious. The room is much wider than my former school’s. The desks here are also larger, with two separate lockers on each desk. Personally, I like schools with desks that have lockers. That is because, judging with my own little experience, I discovered that there tend tobe a much lowered rate in thefts of books, pens, and other school materials, compared to schools that uses desks without lockers. Mr. Morgan asked me tocome with a padlock the next day. I love the idea; I am a security consciousperson. Mr. Morgan happens to be the Chemistry teacher, and he begins teaching, since we are having chemistry as the first subject on Mondays. The topic was‘Atoms and Matters.’ After teaching for about forty minutes, he paused and asked the class a question. “What is an element? It was a simple question and I was expecting an answer from one of the students quickly. But to my uttermost surprise, no hand flew up in an attemptto voluntarily answer the simple question. So, I signaled to the teacher byraising my hand. He gave me the go ahead.“An element is a substance whichcannot be spits into any simpler form.” He was quite impress with my composure andasked the class to give me a gorgeous round of applause. I smiled as I retiredback to my seat; I’m actually used to such applauses. He asked some other questions which I vomitedthe answers back to him with ease. He informed me to see him in the staff roomlater, when I’m less busy. Then he took his leave. http://www.splendidtalks.com/2015/12/the-incident-that-occurred-yesterday-in.html?m=1 |

1. If I'm Buhari, I will be very careful about your advice. The reason is because, if I decide not to do it again, my ever angry opposition will use it to haunt me. 2. I agree with you that the stuff should be neglected. People at the local level are also so corrupt. For those of us who pay shop permits in Lagos (I stay in Ojo Local Government), if you pay 6000 Naira, they will record a different price. In fact, some are turning it to personal property. The money my late mum paid last year for her shop permits, till now, the receipt hasn't been made. In fact, Nigeria is just so corrupt. I just pray God will put God fearing people in leadership positions. |
