I have a feeling that this present senate (8th assembly) lead by saraki will have a torrid four years. And so much clash with everybody right from the presidency to the people governed.
Will miss the calming effects of David Mark's Leadership on the senate. he really handled their egos and manoevered/manipulated the waters well. |
Politics › The Three Tiers Of Government, Yesterday, Shared A Total Sum Of N 409.354 Billio by internetpo(op): 1:22am On Jun 25, 2015 |
They met an empty treasury yet there is money to share. The three tiers of government, yesterday, shared a total sum of N 409.354 billion for the month of May. This is made up of N324.061billion from statutory allocation, N56.04 billion from Value Added Tax, VAT, N6.330 billion as refund by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, to Federal Government, as well as the N31.240 billion exchange gain. The amount represents N30.113 billion increase from the N388.339 billion shared in the month of April A break-down of the distributions showed that the Federal Government got N151.805 billion from statutory allocation, which represents 52.68 per cent, while states and local governments received N76.998 billion and N59.362 billion respectively, representing 26.72 per cent and 20.60 per cent. On Value Added Tax, VAT, the Federal Government received N182 billion, the states and local governments got N27.274 billion and N19.092 respectively. On the other hand, the oil producing states shared N29.071 billion as the 13 per cent derivation against 23.109 billion shared in the previous month. Briefing journalists at the end of the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee, FAAC, meeting, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Anastasia Nwaobia disclosed that the gross revenue of N324.061 billion received for the month was higher than the N282.062 billion received in April by N41.999 billion, due to the improvement from the refund to Federal and the exchange gain added to the revenue. Nwaobia said Federal Government has taken steps to block all the identified leakages in the system and hoped that the source of revenue to government will continue to improve in coming months. Under the excess crude account, ECA, she explained that the reserve stood at 2.78 billion dollars as at yesterday, from which they had the refund of N6.360 billion. Commenting on the $1.18 billion dollar missing from the NNPC forensic audit report, she said the “matter is being considered and when decision is taken, information will be made public on it.” On why they could not hold FAAC meeting, last week, the permanent secretary said the meeting could not hold due to some reasons, some of which was that the minister and commissioners were no longer there and that the Accountant General of the Federation exited office on June. On the issue of Federal Government owing salaries, she dismissed the claim, saying that there was no agency nor ministry owed by Federal Government and expressed hope that states owing salaries would pay their workers accordingly after this FAAC meeting. source : http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/06/fg-others-share-n409-354bn/ |

Politics › Re: Nigerian States Owe $3.3 Bln by internetpo(m): 1:45am On Jun 24, 2015 |
Krucifax: This spells doom and disaster for Nigeria. The new President's response to sources of more funding is 1.Recovery of stolen money and 2. Withdrawal from the excess crude account.
1.Recovery of stolen money Recovering stolen money isn't an overnight process. Some of this stolen wealth in Nigeria and overseas first have to be located. Then comes the lengthy process of tribunal and court cases and counter court cases that are required to first apportion guilt to the offender and then subsequently attempt to recover said stolen money or assets wherever they are. This can take many years just for one case to be completed talk less of different cases!!
2. Withdrawal from the excess crude account. This one is an even bigger joke than the above. The excess crude account is already well depleted due to oil price collapse and subsequent withdrawals during the GEJ govt. Basically if this is attempted to address salaries the account could be empty by the end of the year.
If this is really the best the President has to offer then we are really in trouble as a nation. I do not blame GEJ or Buhari. Nigeria fell victim to a global phenomena of falling oil prices. Made worse by the fact that previous leaders failed to diversify our economy enough and left Nigeria heavily reliant on oil money. Now that money has dried up we are staring bankruptcy in the face.
I predict that unless oil prices rise to their former levels(which is highly unlikely because of Shale and entry into the market of countries like Iran),Nigeria is in for a long ride hard for years to come. Bear in mind that the oil price drop happened in less than 12months. So in less than a year Nigeria was not able to sustain itself and states can't pay salaries. Now imagine how it'll be in 2 or 3 years if oil price stay the same or drops. That'll be horror film playing out in Nigeria i tell you. we in for peppersoup this season. wonder what magic buhari will perform |

Politics › Meet Bayo Omoboriowo; President Buhari Official Photographer (picture) by internetpo(op): 11:50am On Jun 09, 2015 |
Bayo Omoboriowo is from Ekiti State He was born without silver spoon, grew up in Mushin Lagos, tasted poverty, experienced the low esteem. Poverty inflicts on its victims but never allowed his past to define him, he decided to change his story and that he has successfully been able to do looking at what he has done for himself within a space of 6 years.
He took his destiny by his hand, discovered his passion which was photography, refined and turned it to a business and income making project One thing you have to give to this young man is this, he never allowed the distraction that being a youth bring to distract him from his focus he graduated from University Of Lagos in 2009 and since then he has only been doing one thing, Photography and today, he is the official photographer of our dear President.
Bayo is one of the 20 man delegation that followed Buhari to Germany this morning, seeing his name on that list brought smile to my face, this shows how far he has gone and where God has taken him to. I could not have been prouder of my generation and the envelop we are pushing, the stories we are changing and the boundaries. we are taking in spite of the difficulties of being a Young Nigerian Bayo's life is teaching young people what is possible and doable, a man born in poverty at Mushin, Lagos 28 years ago is flying with the President all over the world today because of his passion and determination to give meaning to his life, what then is your excuse?
Life is too short to just waste on unnecessary gallivanting. Discover your passion, key into it and start now. You don’t need capital to start, you just need few people who believe in your passion and would do anything to see it come to fruition. Your network determines your net worth; those friends around you have a lot to do with your tomorrow, more than you know. Bayo's of this world are passing a compelling message to young people to leave every other thing that is distracting them and run with their dreams.
Lives and destinies are tied to that dream and that is the more reason you need to take that bold step and believe in your ability to do it Again let me emphasize, Bayo started from the bottom, he started with zero capital. He had nothing except his incredible belief in God and the dream he has and nothing more. I wish you all the best in this journey and hope to celebrate your journey tomorrow 2015 ...increase your value!

There he stands His hands, Hidden from sights That men, who stood before him Might not behold How he trembles
There he stands Awkwardly, Like a fish Out of water, Longing, not for the penetrating rays Of light, of eyes But the dark slimy abode
There he stands Hidden in plain sight Behind dark glasses, Dodging peering eyes Like a hermit crab
There he stands Looking Not at others But away from all Perhaps, that none might ask Why he gallivants While Borno burns
There he stands Among others Too engrossed to mingle With my president, Buhari, of One Chance The prominent dullard From Duara
There he stands Alone In a crowd! You no well. I like your poetic skills though. |

agabusta: Not nice at all. I noticed that line in the earlier thread "What I Went Through For Believing We Could Defeat PDP – TINUBU", and I was patiently waiting for Tanoids to jump at it. They even have the time to move the story to their propaganda website before bringing the attention of Nairaland to it again. funny robots.
Back to the story, this is not nice at all. it seems Ambode has not come to the full realization of the enormous powers that has been handed over to him. One cannot blame him totally though, he is kind of new, with time, he'll be more confident and understands protocol better. I am quite close to govt circles, and I know new entrants are usually given regular briefs on protocol before they get accustomed to behaviours and mannerisms required for their new role.
I think this is a big goof sha and his protocol officer and Chief of Staff needs to be fired for this nonsense. Why do u av to accuse we the TANoids. Its very silly of u. Anyway i forgive u sha. You made so much sense in your later paragraph. Ambo goofed but he's new. He will learn. |
