You only suffered in naija because you chose a life of crime, doing yahoo yahoo in cybercafes. Only lazy people will channel their energies negatively while oppertunities stare them in the face. What will you teach your children when you get old? Maybe you teach them that "crime pays".

If everybody in the diaspora came back it most probable that they will choose to resettle in Lagos, which doubt will able to cope with the volume of people

Why Lagos? I have never lived in Lagos and dont even like the hustle and bustle of that city, only go there for few days on business. There are cool cities in naija. Have you tried Calabar, Enugu, Abeokuta?

Well, I have been trying to leave nigeria since 2002, i wish I had succeded or I hadnt tried at all. i had wasted so many resources and precious time. sad

Keep trying if thats what you really want. You may try the desert route, walking from Nigeria to Europe with a backpack for company. The determined always win.

you must be in some country where blacks are treated like hell. In the US and some UK countries, pple like us have a decent job. If you are working in the groceries store with your master degree then u thef dumb than whats on your degree. At least here in the US and Maryland to be precise, the pple I know with degrees have good jobs even someone with a degree from yabatech was able to secure a good job in one of America's top companies. So, u might want to speak for yourself

There are no countries where Nigerians are not treated like lepers. Ask those in Cotonou, its not about the country where you stay, its about abandoning a fight because you think the battlefield is bloody and another battlefield will be easier. Thats the mentality I have problems with.

@kabukabu50, do you know of this quote:"If you love your life you will lose it"? But perhaps you forget or do not believe that when the flesh stops breathing life still continues. Better to do something, make a positive impact on another's life, rather than enjoy vanity and have one's name and efforts confined to the dustbin of history.

Are we not confusing worldly wisdom/sharpness with cowardice and laziness?

Sometimes I think about this, some people just think about themselves only. Some stay 19 years without seeing their mums and family, 'enjoying' the London cold instead of helping their mums who saw them through infancy and school.

@ Redman

Valid points, but full of assumptions. . . . not everyone went abroad to have big savings in their accounts. Some left because of threats to their lives, security concerns among others - only the individual concerned can decide whether he/she is fulfilled or not, based on their particular definition of fulfillment.
I think the number that left for economic reasons are overwhelmingly larger. Moreso, if you run from your house because of threats, wont you run again from outsiders when they threaten you over there.
Who born person who wey go threaten me here? Na area boys go settle im case!
Travel / Re: Do You Regret Moving Abroad? by invisible2(m): 11:29pm On Nov 12, 2010
Abroad is a huge mirage, those that made the mistake will rather pretend to their friends like a person who married the wrong person, but the truth is not far away.
The pictures with monuments they take is all they cling to.

Seriously where did some of you get these figures u throw around anytime issues like this comes up? How many Nigerians living 'outside' Nigeria do you know? Yes Somalia is 'abroad' too

Let me use my neighborhood as an example, out of a hundred abroad people, only about 4 are doing very well and 3 are fraudsters.
Travel / Re: Do You Regret Moving Abroad? by invisible2(m): 11:18pm On Nov 12, 2010
@redman44, you are right, its not just about not regretting leaving naija, how many of them come back better than they were when they left? Its not right to say you dont regret yet you come back to naija and use my car here and squat in my BQ. Some even beg for flight ticket money to go back.
Your 85% stats is wrong, more like 95% are suffering there.

I wanted to leave when I was younger like everyone else. But as I aged, abroad lost its appeal to me. Call me what u will, I'm someone who cringes anytime I see black people abroad posing unabashedly infront of a landmark or impressive display a white man built with his brains, sweat and toil. I will live in Africa and will die in Africa. Lets roll up our sleeves and do what needs to be done to propel the black race. Africa is home

I will never leave naija, unless in a coffin. The type of opportunities I jam everyday is surprising. My tap root is digging deeper into naija and making it impossible to leave. For those outside, goodluck.

But how can you speak for others? You can only speak for yourself. Everyone will have different memories of Nigeria, and home means different things to different people.

Home will always mean many things to anyone, till the truth hits them in the face and they are forced to eat their words. Then they come back and face the real 'home'
ask those ibos who ran back during sharia riots or abiola riots.

Bitter? You are wrong there. Just pointing out the truth in fake living, a butterfly mistaking itself to be a bird should be told the truth.

See the pretenders, not regretting serving oyibo after your fathers have slaved for him and they bought and enslaved your grand parents. Continue the slavery, wonder why you even bother calling home or coming back.

Igbo names and its people are in constant denial. this is another proof that you guys are not to be taken seriously. you are not constant. you are iffy. one moment here, the next moment there.
i wonder how many times OBJ would have  by now changed his name/aliases given the vilification he had suffered in the hands of Ndiigbo.
i wonder how many handles IBB will have if he were a NLer, given the abuse he had received here.
but our Ogbuefi is chickening out because he had been identified for who he truly is: one ethnocentric mofo who sees nothing good in humanity except that humanity is rooted in Biafra.
good riddance, jare, to the worst rubbish ever spewed on these hallowed pages.

You are biased, you have more hatered in you than the known tribalists. Please settle issues rather than call names.

And they go there and continue to loot, steal, hack, dupe, cheat, lie, extort, bribe and sell their bodies? No they better stay here, the ones that ran away should be caught and boxed in containers and sent to Nigeria.
