Kjnwancaro:I didn't. And that's precisely why I found people I could RELY ON who did. |
This account of the events matches the above.
|
I'm not so sure about this story. http://trace2babi.net/cote-divoire-enleve-enfant-legorge-lenterre-derriere-chu-dangre.html The translation is glitchy but the story is clear.
|
sisisioge:There's never 'enough reason' to swindle people. This experience was fraud, it's that simple. It's just a matter of time before these shady practices come back to haunt them. However, if, as has been pointed out, a seller choses to decline a reasonable start and test drive request, and the buyer is uncomfortable with the arrangement, do yourself a favour and move on. There have to be TONS of places to purchase used vehicles. |
EgunMogaji:I disagree with the assertion that a product is a product. A torch would not require the level of due diligence an automobile would. But there's no battle here. Just some friendly banter. You've made your point and I've made mine. I think it's up to the readers to judge which line of thought is more rational. Oh, and I didn't ask for an apology, don't need one, and probably wouldn't even provide one if it were requested. As an afterthought. |
You may not know much about cars, but you certainly should know much about Nigeria. It's bad enough having to contend with shady sellers of Tokunbo vehicles, Nigerian used vehicles would be literally war. |
Kjnwancaro:Cement costs 1900 on average for a bag of portland in Nigeria. This vehicle cost upwards of one and a half million naira. Those two items have very different levels of due diligence involved . You don't need to know everything about everything. Simply find someone who you can rely on and who's familiar with the merchandise. |
The buyer failed to do his alarming lack of due diligence. And the sellers took advantage of a well oiled fraud machine to con their mark. I believe he's learned his lesson, and we all have confirmation about our suspicions about cars45. Ultimately this was, and is, a large scale scam. I shudder to think about the figures this system would pull in at that scale. |
EgunMogaji:I've been to a number of dealerships and used vehicle lots in my location for various reasons. Fact is, even for NEW vehicles, start-up, at the very least, is a requirement for sales. A number of them discourage test drives to keep the mileage gains to a minimum. Referring to your comment about torchlight and market, first, a torch is not a car. Thats a huge non sequitur. Vast difference there. Second, shoprite has painstakingly built a reputation for reliability and trustworthiness. So you wouldn't even need to test the merchandise. |
EgunMogaji:Yeah? Could you give a scenario where that would be the case? |
maballack:Morning Sir. You should get this seller to provide the VIN for this vehicle, then get in touch with computerglobal via 08060365068. The fees are negligible compared to the peace of mind you'd have knowing the vehicle provenance. This would be advisable before any inspection. While VIN reports may not be the ultimate, they are a useful baseline. Keep an eye out for red flags, accident reports, theft reports, flood or salvage insurance sales, etc . However nothing beats physical inspection of a vehicle by a TRAINED eye. |
If pointing out your shady practices makes me unable to afford a bicycle tire... Then I don't think I mind. As long as these people take note of your mindset, and are aware of the true situation of your merchandise, then that's just enough for me. Ill walk. |
teemoniautos:Hello This vehicle seems to have been repaired and repainted. Is this an accidented vehicle? |
https://www.nairaland.com/4364862/toks-2009-toyota-camry-sale The only difference between cars45 and sellers like the above thread, among a lot on this forum and in this section, is the scale of the fraud. |
At the very least you should have run YOUR own scans in the vehicle. The very least. What legit auto salesperson wouldn't permit a buyer to at least start and drive the vehicle? Scoff Unfortunately this experience was as a result of a rather naive buyer and a dubious, shady salesperson. The difference here would be that the buyer had the best intentions and the seller had the exact opposite. I apologise for your experience. There has to be a way to gain a greater audience for this experience. If it's happened once, then it's happened dozens of times. |
As much as i don't wish to blame the victim, I do have to say that you don't seem particularly auto savvy, to have paid that much for a Nigerian used vehicle, without due diligence. These guys played in your enthusiasm and your less than average auto knowledge. The second they said you couldn't test drive, you should have just called it quits. There were SO many red flags in this entire sordid experience. The vehicle was driving position converted? And had all these other issues? |
I'd like to say I'm surprised, but I'm simply not. I never had any faith in Cars45. Like they say, If it sounds too good to be true... Sharp practices. The Nigerian way. If this were a sane society these guys would be run out of business. |
https://www.nairaland.com/4364862/toks-2009-toyota-camry-sale You will not sell flooded vehicles without disclosing their history. That is just criminal. |
Anybody who would attempt to sell a flooded vehicle without disclosing that history is a shady and dubious individual of the worst kind. We should all visit this thread and see what this seller is really about. https://www.nairaland.com/4364862/toks-2009-toyota-camry-sale |
I noticed my earlier post exposing this vehicle was censored and deleted. I'll assume that this was a mistake by the moderators, because the alternative would be that the mod is in league with this seller attempting to pass off a flooded vehicle as ' accident-free' |

This vehicle has a flood title. I encourage any interested parties to do due diligence before spending on any vehicle with a history of flooding. |
jaywyz:But this vehicle was flooded. You didn't include that in your advert. |
![]() |
owobloww:Non accidented title? . |
Chuckle |
I see we're still on this topic. |
Tadeus:But this is a flooded vehicle. Also the mileage may have been tampered with at some point.
|
Non accidented? Is this the real mileage? |
fostermd:Of course it's possible. It's also possible that Tupac is alive and raises kangaroos in Australia. But extremely unlikely. The report in calabar you alluded to, had the victim ingesting the substance in food, over a very long period, in small quantities. We all seem to be forgetting the part that she had some applied to her vagina, apparently. The absorption from that site alone would be EXTREMELY damaging to her. And about the cream protecting her skin from absorption, really? That is so contrived. You've moved from plausible to possible. And ANYTHING exists within the realm of possibility. I suppose the skin would also protect her oral mucosa when they kissed and his saliva got mixed with hers? Or when they had intercourse and his phallus spread the poison all over her vaginal walls? |
fostermd:You seem to believe this story. While historically arsenic trioxide has been a poison of choice for 'black widows', it was almost always mixed in with food and drink, in its white powdery form. You really believe that arsenic applied to the mucosal and dermal surfaces would lead to the man's demise and not the lady's? |
