nyabingi: oga dont say what u dont know just because you have acess to a social site as this, im full blood igbo, born and raised in the north and spending adult life in the west, the igbo yoruba issue is born out if jelousy which can be corrected with politics but the north hate the igbos with passion both from religion and sicial angle!I have lived in Lagos for more than 30 years and I'll tell you that Igbo Yoruba issue cannot be corrected by mere politicts. Yorubas are scared that the Igbos will take over Lagos and wants them to leave, the Igbos work hard, make money and flaunts it without qualms and bring more kinsmen to Lagos. It is a social thing and not a political thing. I have also being to the north but not for so long. Maybe we interacted with different sets of people ![]() |

Igbos as a people are very individualistic and often have differed opinions on every issue and can never agree. So never judge all Igbos from what is seen on Nairaland.I quite agree with you on Igbos being indidualistic but I don't want to sound biased. There are very mature considerate Yorubas as well as Igbos. I don't mean all Yorubas or Igbos. |

If you have then you will know that nothing can cure the disaffection between the Igbos and Yorubas. Do you know how many people that were killed in Lagos in 1993 during the Abiola saga? If not for the Nigerian umbrella, the Yorubas would have long sent the Igbos away. The Igbos hate the Yorubas as much too. The Hausas on the other hand live in peace if not for religious fanatics that incite violence. |

What about the menace of kidnapping in the south? People are afraid to travel home for fear of being kidnapped. Where do you think the big wigs from the east especially will run to if Nigeria divides. Violence is not only in the north but also in the south. We need a strong president with a sincere heart to take the bull by the horn and tackle insecurity all over Nigeria |

Does this not tell you that the Igbos will divide themselves until every family become a country of its own With every man becoming a president. Haven't you heard that 'Igbo ama Eze'. Don't you think you are being selfish by not caring about what happens to other regions after you separate? Have you forgotten that some of your Igbo sisters live in these other tribes or regions by virtue of marriage? God in His infinite wisdom brought us all together for a purpose. Sentiments aside, I feel we all need one another. The south east need the coastal areas and other parts of Ngeria to migrate to freely and those areas need the Igbos to populate them and to breed development there. The south south have oil which have also been discovered in some other region. The oil have ravaged the SS ecology and they need to freely go anywhere developed with the funds from 'oyel' and use whatever their 'oyel' money was built with till 'thy kingdom come' without fear of harassment. The westerners need the population of Lagos because in it lies their strength. The development in Lagos will spill to other western states and therein lies the beauty. What is the essence of infrastructure if ther is nobody to use it. Ask those who built Tinapa... The northers depend on oil wells just as other parts of Nigeria depend on their agricultural produce which they need a market for. For all the minorities, your problems will not be solved because there would always be a majority. I sincerely think decentralizing the center and empowering the federating units is all we need in Nigeria now. I rest my case |
One big thing the Hausas will miss is Oil- well I mean the Northern elites. An average Northerner lives a simple life and knows little or nothing about Oyel money. The anger he feels or injustice felt is carefully taken care of in his religion so he asks no questions and is a good follower. The big problem lies in where all the cattle will graze and how all the agricultural produce will be turned to cash. Make no mistake about it but once Nigeria disintegrate, all the new regions will make Agriculture a top priority. The North has a lot of power brokers and I wonder who will step aside. The Kanuris and the Fulanis will have to slog it out. How about the many minorities? Will they stay put or simply form a small country. |
