aramidebaba: Getting money back from those evil agent is very difficult . I was a victim. I paid 530k to agent that agent is also a pastor. He is a founder of a co-operative which my mum is also a member. He promised me Australia working visa. He said the Total cost is 1.2m he said 50% of the money have to pay and when I start working in Australia the remaining balance will be paying monthly after collecting my salary. I did bank transfer of 270k to him. While 260k cash was paid to him by my mum. It's a long story. After that I discovered that this is a scam. I started call him to refund my money. He gave an excuse that he has taken the agent he paid to to court. It up to a stage that he was attaching me spiritually in other not to pay the money. Till now my brother he haven't pay me the money. I don't even think of the money again. More than 3 years now. Nawa oooo |

Benzoway: A travel agent promised to get my cousin an Australian work visa for 800k. He already paid 300k before I got to know about it. Now it's clear that the whole thing is a scam and we're looking for the best way to go about this.
So far, the agent says she has already started processing some documents but she hasn't submitted anything yet. I've told her that we can forfeit 10% (30k) and have her refund the balance of 270k. Her response was that she isn't sure yet but we will talk tonight. The fair advantage we have is that she is a friend of our relative and we know her house and work place.
So guys, please what is the best way to go about getting a refund from this agent? Do we go to the police? Or do we get a lawyer?. Goto Alagbon Police station in Ikoyi... If the person hears the name first, he/She will pay by force. Come back and thank me later |

Career › Re: Should I Pursue Another Federal Job Or Leave For Canada? by Ipisi(m): 1:11am On May 23, 2020 |
TallNigerian: Hello Nairalanders,
I will be 30 years in a few months and I have never felt so much unease as I do right now. I work with one of the federal parastatals and I am currently on level 10 going to 12 next year. I have a Master degree athough it is not exactly relevant to my current job.
The problem is that my organisation uses the Ministry salary structure and my monthly net is below 80k even as a level 10 staff.
I am not married and I am academically inclined. Asides having a Master degree, I have over 8 professional certifications.
I have been trying to clinch a transfer of service to a better parastatal where the remuneration is better and where my knowledge/experiences as a science graduate will be better appreciated but it has been a bit difficult.
However, just before the COVID-19 episode in Nigeria, I got the right link for a transfer of service to a better parastatal but the process got stalled with the COVID-19 palaver.
I have 4 siblings who are Canadian citizens and they have been on my neck to migrate. I never took the calls seriously until this lockdown period. My siblings are arguing about the uncertainty of the Nigerian economy post-covid and advising me to seize this opportunity to migrate and start a new career over there?
My question therefore, "is it wise to stay back since I have gone quite far in my public service career and just wait for the opportunity to transfer my service to a better paying federal parastatal OR do I migrate to Canada and start a new career?
Your honest inputs will be highly appreciated. Thanks!
@CrazyMan @1forall Please I need your help in pushing this forward for a wider view. Thank you. Move away to Canada now |

samicine: Greetings one and all. I'll try to make my lamentation as short as possible.
My mother accused me of stealing her 2k, but I assure you, I didn't. The money got missing on Thursday night according to her and my 13 year old brother. I won't do such a thing, because the times are hard and the pandemic is fueling this hard times. I'm not lazy, I kind of work from home, I write for opera news hub and to some extent I get money from there, currently I have 19k in my account. I have no motive of taking her money, but she insists I took it, and is currently threatening to throw me out of the house.
This is not the first time such thing has happened. When I was still in secondary school, money got missing often and she'll blame me, beat me and starve me for stealing her money, but God helped me and the culprit was found, my other brother was caught, he is 18 now and doesn't stay with us anymore. He stays with my dad. She never apologized for what she did and the scars of that emotional and physical abuse still ripples across my body. But this time I'm not sure I will forgive her if the money is found. I'm planning on leaving home and starting my life somewhere, it's hard, it might just be my naivety speaking, but I need your advice.
The only skill I have is writing and web designing, which I'm almost getting good at. I just need help and guidance. I'm a 200level student and I major in psychology. I'll be 21 by November. Please teach me too, I want to be writing for opera news hub... |

Adanielo: Hi gamaliel,
You can follow me on twitter @danieladaise Ask me more questions over there, if you have more. I am a full time value investor and I have been investing for over 6 years now both foriegn and locally.
Okay let me try to answer.
No, there are no real demerits in participating in foreign investments.
Institutional investors have portfolios that are focused on foriegn investments. Institutional investors do this all the time. And now individual investors have the platform to do same easily.
After reading your question, I had to highlight somethings that should be explained further.
1. Local Investment opportunities vs International investment opportunities 2. The use of BVN in registration for a investment platform. 3. Interpreting frequent Dividends as a proof of a profitable company.
To address this please continue reading: 1. So which is better foreign or local Investment. I think it depends on your strategy and the edge you have over other investors.
You should understand that market efficiency means people are interested in evaluating the value and price of assets.
This means you won't get many investment opportunities to take advantage of.
Yes Foriegn investments are more efficient but that only means they are more regulated and they have smart people constantly evaluating assets. It's not easy to make good returns in efficient markets.
So make sure you have an edge and you have researched before investing abroad.
2. There is no way you can have an investment or financial account without providing your BVN. It is mandatory. And don't worry if you don't trust a company then don't use their service wait till they can be trusted first.
3. Please don't make the mistake of thinking that because a company pays dividend frequently, so that means you should invest in them. Companies can pay interim dividends but this is not a constant thing. Dividends are not constant. It depends on the financial bouyancy of the company for that year.
Try and get the valuation of the business and make sure the fundamentals of the company are solid enough before investing.
If somethings are not still clear here please reach out on Twitter ask me afore t question and I will. Answer.
Hope this helps... Thank you so much.... Please I have questions 1) Most foreign especially US Stocks are already expensive... So how do I buy them and also make profit from trading them since I don't have my much money to invest? 2) With those verification from CSCS, those it now mean that Chaka and Trove are certified okay by Nigerian securities for Nigerians to use their platform to trade without fear of loosing their money?? Please I need answers..... Thank you |

gamaliel9: I use Chaka...it took me two weeks...the international verification came fast....the local verification came later because it is actually Nigeria s CSCS that verifies you and gives a number for trading or investing.. So Trove will wait...you will wait...till it comes through With those verification from CSCS, those it now mean that Chaka and Trove are certified okay by Nigerian securities for Nigerians to use their platform to trade without fear of loosing their money?? Please I need answer |
