Many Christians struggle with the issue of tithing. In some churches giving is over-emphasized. At the same time, many Christians refuse to submit to the biblical exhortations about making offerings to the Lord. Tithing/giving is intended to be a joy and a blessing. Sadly, that is sometimes not the case in the church today. Tithing is an Old Testament concept. The tithewas a requirement of the Law in which the Israelites were to give 10 percent of the crops they grew and the livestock they raised to the tabernacle/temple (Leviticus 27:30; Numbers 18:26; Deuteronomy 14:24; 2 Chronicles 31:5). In fact, the Old Testament Law required multiple tithes—one for the Levites, one for the use of the temple and the feasts, and one for the poor of the land—which would have pushed the total to around 23.3 percent. Some understand the Old Testament tithe as a method of taxation to provide for the needs of the priests and Levites in the sacrificial system. The New Testament nowhere commands, or even recommends, that Christians submit to alegalistic tithe system. The New Testament nowhere designates a percentage of income a person should set aside, but only says gifts should be “in keeping with income” (1 Corinthians 16:2). Some in the Christian church have taken the 10 percent figure from the Old Testament tithe and applied it as a “recommended minimum” for Christians in their giving. The New Testament talks about the importance and benefits of giving. We are to give as we are able. Sometimes that means giving more than 10 percent; sometimes that may mean giving less. It all depends on the ability of the Christian and the needs of the church. Every Christian should diligently pray and seek God’s wisdom in the matter of participating in tithing and/or how much to give (James 1:5). Above all, all tithes and offerings should be given with pure motives and an attitude of worship to God and service to the body of Christ. “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7). cc lalasticlala, ishilove, seun , tosyne2much |

Hiploko:I can agree with me that not all the old Testament, laws was abolished by Christ, example: keeping the sabbath day holy. Tithing is still, depending on your scriptural understanding. corinthians 16:2 ''Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.'' 2 Corinthians 9:6 The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.'' There are many passages that shows that Tithing was not abolished. in fact, Jesus said that He did not come to destroy the laws. Remember, laws constitution ) can be amended and not destroy or neglected. |
Why in a horry to bury him self |
Alphaoscar:Seconded |
Meritocracy:There is no how INEC will declare his party and install his deputy. In not that the election was declared inconclusive, PDP would have been the winner as the runner up to the election, Remember that Audu has not been sworn in as governor and he was the incubent governor so PDP is at advantage as it stands right now |
That governorship seat is Never meant for him that why God Never allow him to seat there. BUT How come APC fielded a sickerto/HBP patience to contest for state exalted seat? anYWAY #RIP |
PDP Still remain the governor after all |
Hiploko:we must get it right here. in the old Testament, especially as recorded in Leviticus, any woman at is in her ''period'' will be cast out as the matter of fact, they will not associate with people for seven days but now Jesus has abolished those laws and we are free from those laws now. Read what the Bible said Romans 6v7 - But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. Galatians 5v18 -But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. |
[quote author=Gayjesus Are you say the old testament god made a mistake with the previous laws?[/quote]In fact, we have been delivered from every law of the old Testament. Read what the Bible said Romans 6v7 - But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. Galatians 5v18 -But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. |
Gayjesus:In fact, we have been delivered from every law of the old Testament. Galatians 5v18 -But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. |
Gayjesus:No not at all. You can recall that in old Testament, when any body sinned, that individual will be taken outside the gate and be stone to death but Jesus came and abolish those laws. Remember that woman that had ''issue of blood'' in the bible. Luke 8:43-48 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace. |
may God rveal Where he is |
Actually in the Old Testament, it was consisted as sin. In fact, the woman was consisted and labelled as ''unclean'' before God but the new Testament is not like that, those law has been abolished by Christ Himself |

Its not a compulsory but if you are not paying your tithe it means your are robbing God Malachi 3:8-9 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. |
