AlphaNumero: Took 2 months to PPR from BG in progress (probably due to quota related issue as my BG went into in progress towards the end of the year and I got my PPR first week in January) COPR took 4 weeks with VFS. I learnt most of those who use DHL get their passport back in 2 weeks (15 Calendar days) |

AlphaNumero: Just to add to what Zandora posted on pof; your current bank statement + debit card of the account, in addition to little cash would just suffice. You don't have to land with all the cash on you. I landed with $1000 because of the current dollar trouble; and I backed up with it up with my latest account statement. 1 Like 1 Share |

40manlappy: Great, Let her practice very well, especially the writing section. A 7 in writing isn't much of a big deal. A good intro to both essays, good linking words (like furthermore, additionally) to link your ideas, good use of example to drive home your point, appropriate number of words (150 & 250), should get you there. Finally, leave 5-10mins at the end of the write ups to correct some obvious errors. 7 in reading is easy, same as speaking. 3 weeks may appear as a lot of time, but not so much, let her read up on tricks and master them; and do lots of practice. It's important, she does not feel any pressure, as that would unsettle her for/during the exam. She needs to be very calm to do well. Looking forward to a good news from you soon. |

40manlappy: For IELTS Australia prefer General not Academic, however, you would still need to score 7 band in each of the modules to stand a chance of migrating. This is because your wife's occupation (Accountant and financial auditor) is highly competitive for Australia with applicants in the 65 points range stuck in the pool for several months. Bottom line, you need all the points you can get, and a 7.0 band in each module fetches you an extra 10 points, 25 for age (she is 33), 10 points for experience (8 years would have fetched her 15 points, but she has got 7 years), 15 points for degree. To shore up your point, you may also lean on state sponsorship to get additional 5 points. The 50 point I wrote about was for Canadian PR. Applicants with a minimum of 2 or more degree ECA and a CLB band of 9 in IELTS are entitle to the 50 additional points under transferable skill. Bringing this home to your spouse situation; she has got a Masters and a CLB of (10 in listening and speaking, 9 in reading, but 8 in writing). Because of her CLB of 8 in writing (IELTS of 6.5), you guys lost 50 points. If she re-attempts IELTS now and scored (L-R-W-S --8-7-7-7), your CRS would jump to 400+ and you can easily go the PNP route. Personally, I think the best option is for her to re-write the IELTS, considering her performance in the last attempt. She got pretty close. In fact, you guys should have considered re-evaluation before the expiration of the review window; apparently, it's too late. In summary, which ever option you settle for (Australia or Canada), she would have to re-sit for IELTS. Honestly, with your wife's ielts result, don't give up on Canada yet. if |

40manlappy: Try and re-evaluate (modified: you can't re-evaluate again, as the review period has elapsed ) your writing, you may just get it reviewed upward to band 7, which fetches you additional 50 CRS points. Honestly, she is almost there, in fact, I see IELTS as an easier route for her than MSc. You would also need an IELTS score of band 7 across all modules for Australian Migration program which fetches you 10 points. It would be difficult to get in without the 10 points. |

tyketurah: Your Occupation does not have to match your degree, so you get points for your highest degree which is masters. Your work experience would also count, just that you need to do more work on finding the appropriate NOC for it. If you are having trouble finding a NOC for e-money support, I suggest, you expand your role to align with the department from which you work and get your supervisor to help out with appropriate reference letter. For instance, if e-money support is under e-business support department in your bank, expand your role to align with e-business, find a NOC for e-business, and get a corresponding reference letter to back up your experience claim. |

40manlappy: What's your wife's IELTS score? She holds the key here; she is younger and she has got a masters degree. A good IELTS score would get you to 400, which I sincerely believe is the easiest route for you guys. If hiring a sound "ielts tutor" would help, don't hold back. On the other hand, have you guys considered Australia. Australia awards more points for years of foreign experience and you do not lose much point on age as you grow older. Her profession is also in demand (in SOL list) in Australia. Personally, I believe it would be easier for you guys to migrate to Australia than Canada (considering your age and years of experience). Australia has a number of positives over Canada, a much higher wage rate and great weather. 2 Likes |

link2jb: A minimum of 67 in 100 is a PREREQUISITE to qualify for FWSC, without which you would be ineligible. CRS is a ranking system that helps CIC/IRCC prioritize applicants that are able to make into the pool while FSW is an economic migration program for skilled workers. You have to score 67 in 100 to be considered skilled/qualified enough for the program. |

chebyshev: Is it possible for your uncle to wire the funds to your Dad's account, with the latter transferring it to your account. Subsequently, your pops should write you a gift deed, stating that the funds was a gift. It's more appropriate and sound more convincing if a gift deed is coming from your Dad than an uncle. However, you have no problem if your uncle can afford to leave the money in your account for 6 months. Once the money stays in your account for 6 months, you dont really have to explain the source. |

Xploits2204: Why the rather expensive student route when you qualify as a skilled migrant? You can easily migrate without Masters if you consider province sponsorship routes. Ontario would send you a letter of Interest with a CRS score above 400. Furthermore, with your professional, it's likely it may be in demand in Saskatchewan province; you may want to have a look at that province as well. With a good IELTS score(LRWS 8,7,7,7) by you and your wife, and corresponding ECAs of your degrees, I don't think polling 400 points would be that difficult. |

rflexii: Exactly, that's the rule, only buy what are very essential. Few weeks ago, I needed $4000 for a foreign trip, however, I just couldn't afford to buy at #310. I simply cut my freaking budget to $500 and bought at #300 (i bought the old dollar notes at a reduced rate). I didn't complain much because I knew traveling was a luxury. I was actually surprised and excited that the airlines still charge at $1@#200 rate. |

pendusky: When I read comment like this, I just feel we still have a long way to go as a country, especially in the aspect of basic knowledge of governance and economics. Are you aware that GEJ government had to devalue Naira from 166 to 199 when the oil price dipped from the 110-140 range to $70 per barrel? If yes, then, how do expect a GEJ who couldnt maintain naira-dollar rate at 166 with oil price at $70 to do any magic with oil price at $28-$32? Mind you, Buhari, has not even devalued at all, he has only ensured that "those who want luxury pay for their luxury". You want a foreign app, pay for it. You want a foreign education, pay for it. You want to go on vacation, pay for it. You want foreign medical check out, pay for it. On the other hand, exchange rate on critical imports remain same. On a broader perspective, this stringent austerity policy would force more and more people to patronize made in Nigeria Products, which would invariably boost local markets. 10 Likes |

joseph1832: I believe am very much pro-APC, however, I would have the say that you have got no point here. The campaign of --"Patronize Nigeria Products" should not end with Public Office holders. Everyone has a part to play if we must make things work in our beloved country; especially someone in the calibre of the "first lady". She is a role model for crying out loud; as such millions of ladies across the globe would likely emulate her by default. If she is seen spending moderately on fashion and more importantly, patronizing locally made products; other financially stable individuals would be more favorably disposed to emulate her. Finally, we should desist from playing a politics where only the politicians win; i.e, let's re-examine our party alignment and focus squarely on performance. This is when the people/mass benefit from good governance. |
