vimi: Not true. I was once charged by some dollars by a company I never had dealings with; apparently my card details might have been compromised by a staff of another company i once had business with. I simply reported to the card service department of my Bank and followed up Got a refund within 90 days or so. |

Report it immediately to your bank, especially their card service department. With a close follow, you may get a full refund within 90 days. |

40manlappy: No, job offers and having relatives are NOT mandatory, but could help prove your tie to the province, as well as fetch you some qualifying points. Lots of people have been successful without having them (job offers and sponsors). |

kunlenchy: Get your degree and work experience assessed by ACS (Australian Computer Society). Subsequently, submit an expression of interest on skill select platform and wait for an INVITATION to lodge your visa. One thing though, your score may not hit 70 because ACS introduced a term called deeming year 2-3 years ago. ACS assesses your degree base on the number of relevant courses on your transcript. If your degree is found to be closely related to your chosen occupation and considered ICT major, you forfeit 2 years out of your work experience. If considered ICT minor, you forfeit 4-5 years. Read up on ACS assessment for migration. |

shodexy: The seemingly danger here is your study visa. FSWC is assessed against fixed criteria; and you get issued the visa once those criteria are met. On the other hand, study permit falls under temporary visa for which you must indicate your commitment to returning home after your program. Unfortunately, having an active FSWC application while applying for study visa clearly shows you do not intend to return. The silver lining here is that --having an EE profile does not translate to a formal visa application. So I think you can create your profile on EE and wait for an ITA while still pursuing a study permit. Caveat: I do NOT know if CIC scans the EE pool as a procedure before issuing any temporary visa. 1 Like |

At 34, with Masters degree, he only needs a good IELTS score (LRSW, 8.5,8.7.5,7.5) to hit a crs score of 450+, which would land him an ITA (Invitation to apply for permanent resident visa) https://www.nairaland.com/2624318/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/59 |

frank1985: It used to be 2days from the day you appear for the interview. Not sure of the process now though. The process 3 years ago, entails filling an application form online, which you are to print out. Your appointment date and time should also be imprinted on this print out. I believe you should be able to get a more detailed info, e.g documents required, fees, etc on their immigration site. |

I would suggest recreating your profile again to be double sure you didn't make any mistake. With point difference of 20-22, you may want to keep a close eye on your spousal information. |

Travel / Re: Will A Nigerian Ielts Coaching School Be Useful To Score Very High Marks? by irondome: 9:11am On Feb 05, 2016 |
mctowel01: A minimum of 8 across all band is tough and requires a bit of luck in addition to your hard work. Either of the 2 options should suffice, but if you have to use a Nigerian tutor, make sure he is/was an IELTS examiner, otherwise, focus on self practice. Few tricks Reading: learn how to scan passages quickly. For most of the passages, ensure you read the questions first, then quickly scan the passage for the answers. This way, you work lots faster. However, you must ensure you thoroughly read the last lengthy passage as using the scanning trick wouldn't help much there. Also master the TRUE or FALSE section as those questions are unusually tricky Listening: Do a lots of practice for this module and sharpen your multi-tasking skill. To do well here (>8band), you must have the uncanny ability to quickly scribble down your answers in "shorthand" while still listening to the audio. It also helps to use the few seconds provided in between sections to quickly go through the next section as this would you to anticipate the answers as the audio is being played. Golden rule for this section: if you miss a question, don't get stuck mulling over the answers, leave that question and flow with the audio, otherwise, you would miss lots more questions. Writing: Use good linking words to stress your points, e.g, furthermore, in addition. Adopt the PREP/PEP (point, reason, examples, point for reiteration) approach where necessary, with focus on relevant examples. Leave 5-10 mins towards the end to read over the 2 passages to correct some calamitous errors. Your introduction is key and arguably determines whether you would hit an 8 band or not. Speaking: read up on common topics and do a bit of practice. While articulating your points, it helps to enumerate for clarity, e.g firstly, secondly. Speak clearly and you don't have to form fake accent. PEP/PREP also helps here. Adopt a positive, friendly and confidence demeanor. You can download lots of practice questions on google or torrent sites 1 Like |

Garykasparov: I think we have got ourselves a " half full half empty" cup perspective here. An idealist applicant could wait endlessly for draw points to drop or for his/her CRS score miraculosuly jumps to the north of 450; but then, this may never happen as competition gets stiffer. On the other hand, a realist applicant with CRS score lower than 440 (who has maxed out language points and does not have his/her occupation in demand in other provinces) would see a great opportunity in the Ontario offer. On the belief that Ontario is using the scheme to pay off their debt, that's also not true for some reasons listed below 1. Ontario is a huge province with a number of better alternatives to generate revenue asides immigration. 2. $1500 is not as pricy as you think when you bear in mind that the $1050 currently being charged by CIC/IRCC is highly subsidized. Ontario immigration office has simply refused to earmark any cent towards that. 3. All applicants who paid the fee enjoy the right of having their application being processed on merit. This implies that - Ontario do not just collect your money and sit on it, but they rather proceed to process every single application against each assessment criteria (age, language, BG check, ties to province, etc). The onus lies on each applicant to ensure they submit a water-tight application. It's true that CIC do not catch late comers, on the other hand, migration rules are dynamic. Every single change has the potential of ending the migration dream, altogether. For instance, prior to express entry launch, having 67 points on the old FSWP point grid usually suffice, but not anyone. While all applicants in pool now have the 67 points, most are stuck and hopeless in the pool without a province nomination or LMIA. In summary, if you are out there with CRS greater than 400 but less than 440 (as the chances of the draw points dropping to that range is low), I would advice you give Ontario a shot; especially if your occupation is not in demand in other provinces. A lot of people usually spend lots more in Canadian masters just to get a long shot at eventual migration. 5 Likes |

Doggys: $1500 is little price to pay for a Canadian PR and not when you stand a good chance of being nominated. If your CRS score is >400 but <440, I strongly advice you give it a shot. Your wife got a good ielts score, what's her work exp and level of education like. You may consider making her the primary applicant. |

MonPro: MonPro: I just browsed through it quickly. If he indeed said, that was NOT presidential of him at all. Although you can not completely discard some of the points he made. SS region, having been the nation cash cow for decades, have NOT been treated so fairly in terms of infrastructural development and environmental safety. However, that is gradually changing as the FG continues to allocate extra funds to finance projects in that region. That being said, the oil producing states should also realise that there was a time when this economy was funded majority from cash crops from other regions. And going forward, as the WEST aggressively drive innovations on alternative energy, oil would become less and less important in the scheme of things. So, may be tomorrow, Nigeria might turn to solid minerals in some other regions (may be Middlebelt/North-central), which is currently driving economies like Australia, etc. My point exactly, there is great strength diversity only if we all learn to put aside our differences and work together to build this potentially great nation. Yesterday, it was cash crops, today oil and gas from SS, and tomorrow, it could be --superior workforce, solid minerals, etc. Whatever it is, these resources belong to us all, and we are all Nigerians. Our collective fight would be on the appropriate utilization of these resources to develop the nation as a whole, and not on ethnic supremacy while looters continue to corner these funds to their personal accounts. On a final note, I think Buhari is NOT harassing Fayemi enough. The latter has a lot of work to do in his ministry and unfortunately, he is still on honey moon. |

The sunnybobo dude started all these e-arguments when he harassed someone for refering to SS as nigerdeltans. He further complicated things by claiming Igbos are majority in a region clearly not dominated by igbos. Stuffs like these achieve nothing but to instigate other tribes against yourselves. I don't think the goat is dead, slightly burnt, but not dead. Few reasons 1. A goat burnt to death, wouldn't be standing on its 4 legs. 2. There is a safe path (not affected by the carnage) just beside the tree; I reckon the goat fled to that area to avert a total roasting. 1 Like |

UncleJJ: That is one attitude "some" Igbos still need to address. They go into a foreign land and they are happily received and welcomed to do business. The next thing, they start to disrespect and disregard local values of their host communities. Afterwards, they want to rule and dominate their amazing hosts. Then, they tell you that -- your papa land " is a nobody's land", an arrant nonsense you can pull in any Igbo land. Several years down the line, they start claiming ownership. How difficult is it to just come in, do your business peacefully and live respectfully with your host communities. 4 Likes |

Sunnybobo3: Stop being half-smart. I did mention the fact that the region is multi-ethnic. Why not list out the population demography of each state in the SS and let's know the population of Igbos per state. If you still hold majority in each of states, may be then, I would start taking you seriously. As at now, all states in that region are happy being referred to all Nigerdeltans and they should not be cowed into forsaking their own identity by the guests they had magnanimously welcomed into their individual states. 2 Likes |

NOETHNICITY: They probably thought they are dealing with a civilian president. When the military retaliate, they are quick to shout blue-murder. The shite incident was condemnable in every light, but those dudes had it coming. You don't run a government within a government. This simple logical correlation may give these people some perspectives; " if a northern president in Buhari didn't spare his fellow kinsmen involved in the shite incident (including several innocents ones), don't expect him to hold back in using every military might needed to address the insurgency in SS" unfortunately, it would be a lose-lose-lose situation. The innocent host communities would be ravaged. The militants would ultimately lose out as well, as they would eventually be maimed. And lastly, the FG, although would crush the militants, but would have also have lost lots of resources and revenues. 4 Likes |
