I wouldn't completely blame the intelligent people of Ekiti for dumping Fayemi. Fayemi simply failed as a Governor and more importantly, his elitism did him no good.

Perspective.......... you're entitled to it anyways......but, we lost so much credibility when we showed the world how corrupt we are. Regardless, PMB in his reaction said he will not concern himself with Cameron's statement, as he was in a private conversation, what he regards as official and the position he's is taking is the return of our assets. Cameron's "gaffe" is no gaffe, it was intended, purposeful and an opinion he holds. We can do nothing to change it currently, apology or no apology. In fact, we are better off not fighting on a terrain where we are currently disadvantaged, our repetition is "badly worsted" already and we'll be a laughing stock if we chase shadows (demanding apologies) rather than pursue vigorously a correction of our corrupt state.

Private conversation? Do you have a private conversation with paparazzi and video recording in play? What's your definition private conversation?

Let's assume for once that we are on the same page on the private conversation debate; can anyone in the UK have an alleged private conversation with his/her family members (on record/video) about joining a terrorist group and such a person would not be invited for questioning by security agencies? Would such a person not be held accountable for his/her inappropriate remarks made in the so-called private conversation?

Finally, there isn't anything as ugly in communication as conversing with a party who is obsessed with repeating the same line over and over again irrespective of what ever you have said. I have clearly stated that a PMB condemning Cameron's statement isn't the same as demanding an apology. For instance, if you slapped; telling you what you did was wrong, isn't the same as demanding an apology for the unprovoked slap. However, Keeping quiet over the slap is direct invite for another ugly slap in the very near future; especially from others who witnessed the slap incidence.

Well, I don't see any need joining issues with Cameron. PMB with that statement has made his stance and point clear and put Cameron in his place. No need to argue about the obvious we are corrupt! Information about our corrupt practices are all over the news

Who are the we? Are all Nigerians corrupt? Why tag a whole nation as corrupt? What do you know about image and brand? In the private sector, would a CEO/MD allow another CEO rubbish the totality of the brand he has been working hard to build?

If Buhari really cared about Nigerians living at home and abroad, he would not so happily welcome the 'fantastically corrupt' tag on the nation.

I did say" in addition to requesting for a refund of our stolen monies, PMB should have categorically condemn Cameron's unbridled comment. You do not because of few corrupt elements, label a whole country as corrupt. You do not because of few disillusioned Muslims blowing up innocents people, call all Muslims "fantastic terrorists".

And, if you are unable to visualize the impact of such remarks on a nation and it's citizens(home and abroad); am sorry, I can't help you. I would also try not to reply your post.

There are two clear issues here, What Cameron said is clearly different from what you expect PMB to say. I do not see any value in pursing Cameron to take back.......in fact, I am of the opinion that Cameron's statement is a clear reflection of how the world perceives us.......demand apology will simply make us look ineffectual and stu.pid.

A PMB categorically condemning Cameron's remark as inappropriate isn't same as demanding for a recant of statement. Making him accountable for his gaff would ensure that does not happen again; and not only Cameron, but also other world leaders. If this blew away very easily, then we should expect another world leader to make another condescending remark in the nearest future.

We can not continue to aggressively fight corruption on the home front, only to allow an unbridled comment from a world leader, disparage our image. It's counter productive.

Living in denial...... the statement in bold is not relevant for our current situation. It seems you guys don't understand the abyss we've sunk into corruption-wise. How do you want the world to respect a state governor that stole the state blind, took the loot to UK, was placed under house arrest, escaped disguised as a woman.........and we gave him state pardon? How do you want a country to rationalise almost half of our foreign reserves stolen by few individuals or how monies meant for pension, procurement for military weapons in the midst of war against BH was shared amongst individuals?

Saying corruption is a global issue is a lame excuse to me. It's the same position GEJ took when Boko Haram were taking territories and bombing most places in the North, with the lame excuse "Terrorism is a global issue....."

If you do not see anything wrong in what Cameron said, then you have self-esteem issue. Even right thinking Britons called it a diplomatic gaff. It would have been lot reasonable if Cameron had quoted a source e.g, according to so so and so report, these two countries have a high corruption index.

If Nigerians have shown 1% of the anger they showed to cameron to our greedy politicians, we would be on par with the UK interms of development. Alameysia, Abacha and lots of greedy thieves were given state burials, nobody showed anger towards that decision but we are angry with UK Pm.
One funny fact...
The same alameysia that buhari is begging for return of our stolen wealth is the one bayelsa gave a state burial. LOL grin

1. Learn to know people before making personal remarks about them. At the very least, read their previous posts.
2. Is Buhari making some effort to address corruption? Absolutely YES, even one of the guys in the video stated that " the new president is trying to do things differently, which I believe Cameron is obviously aware of.

Think deep.

His response is a disguised slap to Cameron and UK. It's like saying " our looters and corrupt politicians wouldn't have succeeded in looting the Treasury blind if you didn't provide them the platform to keep their loots".

Apology will not undo what Cameron said because it's the truth. The thing is, no leader is expected to disparage another country especially one you claim to be partnering with on the same course.

So, PMB is 100% correct with his response.

Did you see the thunderous applause that greeted his reaction?

Watch it bro.

Applause means nothing mate, that response isn't effective. Cameron invariably called all Nigerians "fantastically corrupt". Personally, I can take any insult but be referred to as lacking integrity. That literary means you are a nonentity. Now because of this ugly incident, any westerner that bumps into Nigerians would be looking for red flags in his/her dealing with us. Warren Buffet once said, put a police officer to tail the most careful driver continuously for 2 weeks, that driver would surely get a ticket. Same with looking for red flags where there are no flags; no flag becomes red flags.

I believe PMB should have taken a more offensive approach. In addition to requesting for a refund of our stolen funds, he shouldn't have"happily" agreed that Nigeria is corrupt. His response should have been-- corruption is a global issue with corrupt elements in every nation of the world; as such, I find it inappropriate for a world leader to characterise another sovereign nation as corrupt. He should have gotten more personal by referring to the Panama paper incident as perfect example of global corruption picture (Cameron parents had an investment there).

The Panama Papers affair has widened, with a huge database of documents relating to more than 200,000 offshore accounts posted online. The Panama Papers have shown how some wealthy people use offshore firms to evade tax and avoid sanctions.
The papers belonged to Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca and were leaked by a source simply known as "John Doe". The company denies any wrongdoing.
Last week it issued a "cease and desist " order to prevent the database being made public but the organisation that has the documents, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), went ahead.

I strongly condemn any form of killing as a Christian, am disposed to the fact that anyone can become transformed. However, the root cause jungle justice lies with judiciary and the law enforcement system. A compromised justice system would embolden citizens to take law into their hands, as they no longer have faith in the system.

I have a B.Sc Industrial Chemistry ( 4.01/5), Pgd Chemical Engineering ( Distinction ).

I applied for a Canadian admission for MSc.E Chemical Engineering. Normally for your admission to be successful you need to secure a supervisor whose research interest is similar to yours. I have done that and he encouraged me to apply. I submitted my application and after going through my application with other supporting documents like letter of motivation and others, he sent me a mail this afternoon that they want to consider me PhD instead of MSc I applied for. I'm very confused right now if to accept it or not considering high standard of education abroad as I use to hear, I haven't experienced foreign education before, this is my first. Please note my ultimate goal is to obtain a PhD. Please help me push to the front thread cos I need advice from experienced Nigerians who have studied abroad. Thanks. I appreciate

Why the worry? Your prospective supervisor positively appraised your previous qualifications and skills as suitable for PHD; I believe you would do just great.

That won't fly with Canada. If your English language is flawless, you may try Australia. Australia's ACS equate some certifications as diploma which can fetch you 10 points. But you would need to ACE your ielts to stand a chance, I.e a minimum score of 8 across all modules.

I believe cutoff will reduc. If you observe, the ITA issued at the last draw was below 1000; unusual and unexpected. CIC expects to invite more people this year, and if they keep at high scores they would not meet up. I'm optimistic the cutoff will reduce. Scores as high as 450-460 is too high to go to waste.

Not entirely true, the last 2-3 draws have been 1000 number of ITAs. Specifically, all the draws after IRCC released their Plans/target for the year, has been around 1000 number ITAs. If you perused the plan critically, you would notice a significant reduction in number of Skilled (PR) visa they plan to issue this year. Apparently, the liberal government favored the family class and refugees (as their quota for the year increased)

Putting all these together, it's less likely (not impossible) that IRCC would increase the number of ITAs per draw. Because of the reduced quota and the backlog on the old paper applications, IRCC can continue to draw 1000 ITA and still meet their target for the year.

Whether the score would come down depends of the number of applicants in the pool with high score.

@irondome

This is against your analysis of 10%.

http://www.cicnews.com/2016/04/express-entry-exclusive-increasing-number-candidates-canada-selected-immigration-047801.html
I just thought to share with you.

If only you would stop quoting the article out of context my friend? The opening paragraph clearly stated that " Based on all reports provided thus far, we can confirm that the number of candidates in the pool residing outside Canada who received Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence in the latter half of 2015 increased significantly"

If you had meticulously followed ALL the draws made by IRCC last year, you would know that IRCC made several 450 draws
in the last 4 months (September of 2015), which never happened in the first 7 months. So, as the draw point dipped, more outlanders who couldn't muster point above 450+ region got drawn. Likewise, for as long as the draw points stayed high in the first 7 months, the Inlanders were favored as the more qualified among them got points equivalent to the Canadian degree and local work experience.

Bringing that home to the trend this year, with the points hovering around 470, Inlanders are still more favored as it's extremely difficult for outlanders to hit that score. And if the PGWP guys get unrealistic and demand for special points for education because they have a Canadian Masters (which would see a fellow with PG degree from a tiny college in Canadian get higher score than degrees from world's top ranking Universities like Harvard, Cambridge, Duke, etc), the number of 470+ pointers would increase. With more Inlanders hitting 470+, outlanders would perpetually be relegated to the pool.

In summary, the EE is still currently skewed to favor the Inlanders, and any PGWP holder that has failed to realize this, is "being an ostrich". Even if IRCC gratify their unrealistic demand that allocate all PR slots to PGWP; only a fraction of them (PGWP guys) would still get the PR (as PR can't cover the number of PGWP holders). What would they do next? Call for IRCC to increase the PR quota?

Bottom line, IRCC has not promised any PGWP holder any PR. Let them make use of the available path to PR, same way the outlanders are hurtling for migration points writing tests here and there.

I'm happy you are now a resident. You will understand better. Canadian students are special because the immigration policy is favorable to them. The government acknowledges their impact in the system and also recognizes diversity and inclusion.

How many of these skilled immigrants get a proper skilled job when they arrive? Let's be factual. It takes time for most pple. Just a lucky few get settled in on time. That is where the international graduates are better off. They gain coop/internship work exp whIle studying. They understand d system better off.But the express entry system short changes them. I rest my case.

Welcome buddy.

You are trying to eat your cake and have it. You said " the dude caught in the new EE web doesn't have a skill job or has not done a skilled job over the last one year" So we can conclude that he or she is yet to integrate fully into the Canadian work culture system; as such, should NOT be valued ahead of outstanding outlanders.

You should understand that when these canadian schools are scouting for students they always tell them it leads to PR. You need to understand their plight before saying stuffs about them. How many masters holders from other countries are able to secure canadian masters admission? It's very competitive. So d colleges r always a pathway to d masters program if need be.If I may ask why didn't you stay in Australia after investing so much? It's diff strokes for diff folks. What they want to answer your question is to be recognized for studying and investing so much in the economy. Its part of the deal.Talking about ties, they just dont want pple constituting a nuisance if they r unable to adapt/integrate into the canadian system.
FYI, these same canadian immigration officers go to schools and enlighten the students on how to become citizens or get the PR status because they want them to stay back. And I just explained the plight of international students with a year PGWP to you in my previous post. Those with three years can always scale thru.
Guy, I think their demand is just and thank God for a listening government.May God bless our hustle.

1. Canadian schools do not equate IRCC; as such, IRCC is not under any compulsion to bulge. And they decided to, good on them.
2. An investment in Msc is seen as investment in education and not a route to migration by most countries.Several Students in UK, US and Australia invested so much in MSc and had to leave after their various programs. So what makes Canadian International graduate any more special.
For instance, in my own class of 15 international students in a top Uni in Australia, only 4 of us were able to stay. The others had to leave after the expiration of their temp visas because that was the deal. DIBP didn't promise PR along with student visa. Same applies to Canadian students, IRCC didn't promise anyone PR visa after studies; the deal obviously was certificate + PGWP .

For those with 1 year PGWP, if their degree was MSc, then, they should simply ACE their IELTS like every other skilled migrant had to. And if they went in for a diploma, they should simply re-enroll for further studies for more years of PGWP.

Am not hating on anyone as am already a resident, am just saying --they shouldn't push IRCC to literally convert a Skilled Migration scheme to post study migration scheme.
