historyworld031: Yes, even a little look at his name tells everything, he is trying to conquer with lies. He is just spreading propaganda. Many yoruba have problems understanding where they came from. They don't have any knowledge of their culture or history. They steal culture wherever they find it. That is how they stole the title "Oba" from The Oba. The one and only Oba: Omo n'Oba n'Edo. Their ooni, was just an elected and powerless chief of a small state before colonisation. Then the british empowered the ooni of ife in order to use him as a british puppet. It even went as far as the ooni of ife becoming prime minister of the western region. But you see the yoruba can't look at what they were before colonisation. That is why a guy in egbaland would consider the ooni of ife his superior (evethough there is no connection whatsoever between ife and egba land). Now they are calling ijebu yoruba while the latter had a king who threatened in 1892 to whipe out the yoruba. The yoruba are a mere myth, they are a lie.
macof: Science has already confirmed an African origin for Yorubas, therefore cancelling out any Arabia connection. Yorubas have over 90% of the E-V38 DNA, more than most African ethnicities, which is an important gene maker for "Africanness"
I meant the origin of the king Oduduwa not Yoruba as a whole.
babythug: Things arent likely to change . His spitting on you shows deep animosity don't let him stab you one day in a fit of rage.
Avoid all the potential quarrel triggers this includes what others would term as normal conversations.
Pray if you're spiritual and work fervently at leaving this marriage. .God be with you.
Ditto.
OP, as someone said above, "your husband is psychotic?" Truly, he's a horrible person. Get away from him. I'm sorry you're in a new country where you don't have support, but you're actually in a good situation legally: you may be able to change your status quickly as immigration laws have criteria for abused spouses. That is what you are.
macof: It was a thing of stupidity to insult the entire yoruba nation by calling our tradition idol worship.. That is what is repulsive. If people do not step up to challenge this abusive tag, it will go on forever
And there is no knowledge passing from the person you are quoting. There is no non-indigenous african element in Yoruba, this is fact
It is not every senseless post I reply these days, I'm too busy for that
I enjoy Olu317"s posts o! The more Yoruba traditionalists the better. I have to admit, I also wonder about the Sudanese and Arabia connection to Yoruba. Maybe science can refute or confirm them in the near future.
macof: 1. Your grandmother was a Muslim was she not? Even if she were not to be... it is a Wide spread claim Any gullible person who doesn't know how to study history would think because some people say it it will be true. The Mecca claim had existed before your great grandmother was born talkless of your grandmother.
2. The claim itself turns history on it's head. You claim. Lamurudu is Nimrod. There is no evidence that Nimrod ever existed. The Hebrews and Arabs made up legends of a Nimrod from ideas they had about some cities in Mesopotamia. Nimrod was not an actual person and he certainly wasn't king of Mecca
Strange how Lamurudu is a typical Yoruba transliteration of Namrud(arabic) ... Namurudu
How this so called Yoruba ancestor has no orisha status, how this so called father of Oduduwa has no oriki
3. Oduduwa did not come from Mecca, this is known to people who actually care to learn Yoruba history.. Go to Ife... go to any ile-orisa. There is no connection between oduduwa and Mecca I am well aware of oduduwa's origin and it is not Mecca or anywhere outside yorubaland
4. I am a traditionalist and you are very stupidd to call Yoruba tradition idol worship. It is the foreign religious cancer that is eating Yorubas like you and your grandmother that prevents you lot from taking appropriate steps to learn Yoruba history
Imagine your ignorance calling Yorubas idol worshipers...
Sir Macof. One and only! Unrelenting. Unapologetically Yoruba. Mo juba o!
IamaNigerianGuy: King Sango, I watched your second video for all of 6 minutes and I call B.S. Nothing in it can pass a rational test as evidence. I dislike Obama as much as the next guy. Obama had sympathy for homosexuals and actively supported them during his tenure. He may even be gay or bisexual, but Michelle Obama is not a man. That's some cracker inspired Trump propaganda right there.
Agreed.
KingSango, I appreciate your goal and most of your viewpoints but the "homosexual/pederasty is a pandemic affecting every topic" angle will weaken your credibility. I despise homosexuality, Barack Obama (whose real father is not the unfortunate Kenyan man and whose White grandparents were CIA operatives), Oprah, CIA and American warmongering as much as the next Pan-Africanist, but Michelle is not a man. Morally corrupt and manly she may be, but she is still a biological female.
PAGAN9JA: Samuel Ajayi Crowther’s character is no different from that of boxer in George Orwell’s book titled ‘animal farm’.
Although usually seen as a hero, Ajayi Crowther was an ignorant man and white apologist that was used and dumped by the British to make headways into Yorubaland. He is no different from the mental slaves today who believe that the only foundation for good human existence in any context is that with the blue print of the west. According to Wole Soyinka, ‘There is nothing to choose ultimately between the colonial mentality of Samuel Ajayi Crowther, West Africa's first black bishop, who groveled before his white missionary superiors ... and the new black ideologues who are embarrassed" by African traditions. Both suffer from externally induced fantasies of redemptive transformation in the image of alien masters.’
In the 1800’s the British wanted to put an end to slavery, not because they had compassion towards Africans but because they wanted to migrate to Africa as imperialists. They needed to rebrand their image from slave raiders to friends in order to mingle with the people and make them comfortable with their presence in the prelude to colonialism of the continent. One of their important weapons of mental warfare is religion. Every empire building nation understood that the best way to mentally enslave a people is through a religion. This is why the Roman Catholic remained a powerful political center for unity long after the Roman Empire collapsed.
Samuel Ajayi Crowther had a unique advantage at the time, not much people had a good mastery of language and translations. He translated the Bible from English to Yoruba and through such means, he distorted many versions of Yoruba history in context. One example was the translation of esu to devil. The biblical version of devil did not exist in Yoruba culture, there was nothing to compare to the devil, so he picked a deity called Esu, god of the crossroads and translated him to be devil. Esu does not have hell, he never betrayed loyalty to Eledumare and never at any time led a rebellion of a fraction of heavenly hosts in a coup against Eledumare. This was all the imagination of an African bishop on the payroll of his masters from the west.
Ajayi Crowther as the face of their religion at the time and worked hard to convert many of his native kinsmen to the British version of Christianity. It was Ajayi Crother who pioneered the Anglican mission in Onitsha and Lokoja. As a bishop, he groomed 10 native priests to help him in his religious mission. After he had successfully built a strong Anglican base, the white priests decided they had no need of him again insisting that Ajayi Crowther and his priests were intellectually inferior and unqualified for the posts they had. The first thing they did was to take the Niger mission treasury from his control, they would eventually dismiss all the priests that worked with him to build the missions and ultimately forced him to resign out of frustration in 1890. He spent the few months after his resignation as a broken man and died of stroke shortly after (1891) in Lagos.
Thanks for the post. I recently read a very negative article about the Eleko and Lagos royals around the 1800s that heaped praises on Crowther despite the author's admitted knowledge of Crowther's repeated collusion with the English and their clandestine efforts to destroy the Lagos king in order to take over the teritory completely and continue their inroad into total control and colonisation of Nigerian and western area of Africa. The British followed the same modus operandi they had in all of Africa. We survived them and we will one day shake of their shackles of imperialism and neo-colonisation. Unfortunately, most of our people are blind, mentally.
PointB: Perhaps, they didn't want his socialist idea in the capitalist world they were building. For all you know, Socialism was just his cover. They probably got a better asset and he became dispensable.
Have you paused to wonder why Abiola who refused all manner of food and drink while incarcerated, accepted the offer of tea when presented by Susan Rice (a CIA agent). Surely, he would have believe a rescue plan was underway. Maybe he's not dead, he could be living out the rest of his life in some Witness Protection Program (with plastic surgery and new identity), while tears are shed freely for him.
Yusuf4: Some of you comment before thinking. If your Father owned an apartment people reside in, then you will know how painful tenants crook life is.
How can you build a house with millions to make money from rent and someone will be owing you 4 months salary. is it a corpers family house or an IDP camp.
Some tenants are just devil, like the above mentioned.
The man lived there for 15 years! I'm sure she wouldn't have kept renewing his lease if he was a problem.
But I understand what you're saying about devil tenants. My dad rented a beautiful brand new house to a non-Lagosian woman who tore up the whole place when she vacated 3 years later after owing rent. So wrong!
nnokwa042: u said obi of Onitsha is not a first class king in afonjas land or Igbo land,do u think somebody in aba know who is ur so called ooni of Ife? Ooni of Ife that was disgraced by Oba lagoon of Lagos?, there re more than 20000 obas in afonjas land so who first class amongst them?ooni my black ass
liberalsinnerx: Typical blacks driving Bently when your people are suffering. Black people are useless; very useless. Of all popular traditional rulers, only one does't drive a luxury...Obi of Onitsha. Ironically he is the most educated and richest of all of them.
laudate: Don't worry... they will not, even if they live in Lagos for 5 generations. There are already 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation Bini/Edo folks living in Lagos. Many of them have even intermarried with Yorubas. How many of them have come out to contest for governorship in Lagos? They respect themselves too much to do so. If they wish to contest for governorship, they will look towards Edo state. They are content with their own sphere of influence. I repeat: they are not land grabbers like the IPOB-Igbo youths.....
Well, I don't think there's anything wrong if they were to consider it. I'm sure in civics class some boy or girl with an Edo father (and Edo last name) and Yoruba mother has thought about being governor of Lagos state before. It's not like they're thinking of becoming a traditional ruler outside of their lineage. As a traditionalist, I just see civilian government differently from the monarchy.
But I'm not advocation anything drastic. If that's how the people are and they're happy and content, more power to them.
laudate: Stop this propaganda. No self-respecting Edo man will come out to contest for governorship of Lagos, no matter how much investments he has within the city. He is content with his own square metre of influence in his region, where he can call the shots with contentment. Edo men are not landgrabbers unlike you lot!
What about a generation later and the Edo man's children who were born and raised in Lagos, married a Lagosian spouse and continued to reside in Lagos with their children, showed interest in governing?
imhotep: Yorubas will have nightmares because of this thread
No reason for nightmare or headache. A mixed Yoruba-Igbo Lagosian can very well become governor of Lagos state in the next 20 years.
That will not happen until we've had an Igbo president, which I am convinced is a certainty by the year 2023!
Funny thing, I hadn't thought about Edo people clamouring for presidency though. Forget Oshiomole. He's dead in the water! That fake "comrade" is too hateful and meanspirited, and Nigerian women will not vote for him. Laudate has a better shot!
tsdarkside: Celebrating the destruction of native americans....you are not serious....
I love native Americans. This is Thanksgiving, Nigeria style. Thank Buhari for not dying in London and allowing imperialists to run roughshod over you like they did the American Indians!
Are you a Sango devotee? Or you're just running your mouth anyhow?
zombieHUNTER: I can authoritatively tell you that Igbo presidency is not the solution to igbo problems... Nigerian elites will only allow individuals from the south east who are selfish and have no genuine passion for the development of the region in aso rock... People like Umahi and okorocha comes to mind... It's on record that majority of self centered politicians today in Nigeria are from the south east... they are just there for the money while pointing accusing fingers at the center....
The east needs total overhaul of her dormant politicians
Propose your own potential candidates Throw out names of decent politicians or concerned citizens so we can learn more about them.
I conclude you don't have anything for which to give thanks? I think we should try and stay on topic. . .somewhat.
Thanks to men of the Ekiti State Anti-Grazing Marshall that arrested these herdsmen that led their cows to destroy farms in Ijero Ekiti on Thursday. Here in Ekiti, we will continue to protect our farmers. If you are interested in cattle farming, get a ranch.
