Girl Hailed As Hero For Saving Sister's Life
A 9-year-old girl is being hailed as a hero for saving her younger sister's life.
Anaiah Rucker bore most of the brunt when a pickup truck hit the girls as they raced across a street in Madison to catch a school bus. She almost died but was released from Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite on Wednesday.
Channel 2's Tom Jones talked to Anaiah about her heroic act.
"I love her more than anything," she said, nearly in tears in her hospital room.
She was talking about her 5-year-old sister, Camry.
"I pushed my sister out of the way so she wouldn't get hit," Anaiah said.
Last month, in Madison, Ga., about an hour and a half east of Atlanta, Anaiah and her sister were walking across a street to catch the school bus.
It was raining. Anaiah had a hooded sweatshirt that may have obscured her view.
"I couldn't hardly see," Anaiah said.
She looked both ways and looked again and thought the coast was clear, she said.
Anaiah and her sister stepped into the road.
"I saw the truck and I was like, 'No,'" Andrea Taylor, the children’s mother said.
Taylor, who was standing on her porch, said what Anaiah did next probably saved her young sister's life.
"I seen my daughter kinda snatch my 5-year-old back, and if it wasn't for that, my 5-year-old would have ,  I don't think she would have made it," Taylor said.
That's because a pickup truck slammed into the girls. The truck driver wasn't charged.
Anaiah bore most of the impact since she shoved her younger sister out of the way. She suffered a broken neck, lost a kidney, has spleen damage and broke both legs.
"The left leg wasn't getting any blood flow so they had to amputate the left leg," Taylor said.
Anaiah has her good days, and then she has her bad moments where she suddenly breaks down into tears.
That's when her mother puts it all in perspective.
"It's OK," she told her. "Because your sister is alive because you saved her."
Anaiah said she did what she did for one reason.
"I thought she was too young. She's my sister. I love her."

Nice one.  My sister would have saved herself and conveniently forgot to tell mother she was at the scene when Isale became one with the road.  shocked

What the hell are you saying?

Anyway, I hate you so much right now.  You remind me of this boy in my primary school in Naija.

My first day at a new school in a new area, this demon boy accosts me on the way home, and punches me in the stomach.  When I was bent over gasping for breath, he runs off laughing.  Hmmm.  So, that's how it is around here?  angry

The next day in class, I let him think he got away with it. This is a rascallion boy, about 9 or 10 years old.  The day after that, we meet at recess.  All I know is, I beat the crap out of him.  I don't remember any punches, because kids didn't really throw punches but more gidigbo.  I had him down on the ground, sat on him, and fed him some sand.  Little evil brat!  No boy ever bothered me again in the primary school.  The legend followed me to secondary school too.

Wait for it, DK.  Every day for the thief, one day for the owner.  I'm gonna make you eat some sand.

BTW, don't reply me.  I'm serious.  But I'll be cool.  cool

the Nigerian military has about 67,000 profesional men. There is no way nigeria, or any country, could hope to compete militarily with the U.S canada, the E.U, China or russia. The military dominance of the west will continue forever.  keep in mind the u.s spent 663,255,000,000 on its military in 2009 alone.
I would support a concerted effort to grow the ranks of the Nigerian military personnel to hundreds of thousands.  In a country with the population if 150mil, it is not too ambitious or far-fetched to budget for a 200-500,000 minimum armed forces.  To be honest, I'm surprised the number is under a 100,000, if true.

1) I would support and participate in a draft.  2) Also, why not do what the Israelis do, whereby all citizens, male and female, of a certain age serve a mandatory number of years in the military.  What you want is deterrence.  Create fear in your enemies to the point they resist aggression towards you.  That is a war you've won without lifting a single weapon.

I bet you many countries would speak out against it too, once they see us trying to fulfill our destiny as the strongest country in Africa.  They're rather keep us weak, begging for their assistance whenever a puny home-made bomb goes off.  Eff that!

isale i cant tell you just how disgusted i am with this whole situation, the brazen hypocrisy, the treachery the out and out in your face evil of america and britain in this attack on libya is beyond belief -
My disgust reached its apex after Iraq/Abu Ghraib incident.  I'm all out of disgust.  Anything they do now, its just 'same ol same ol' to me.  The beginning of cynicism.

the other thing that occurred to me is this - had nigeria, gabon and south africa abstained from voting in favour of this resolution, america and britain would have been totally screwed.
It's too bad Nigeria couldn't dig in and at least refuse to vote. Despite that, I am sure a "No" vote would not have stopped this attack though. An alternate way would have been found. Some other reason would have been cooked up. Libya simply has too much oil and is too close physically to Israel and too motivational to other African "independent thinking" to not get its comeuppance.

i oppose this intervention on moral AND economic grounds, moral grounds because it is morally bankrupt to invade a sovereign nation under the guise of humanitarianism when your own troops are killing unarmed civilians in iraq, afghanistan and pakistan.  Immoral because the racist zionist govt of israel kill and maim palestinians on a daily basis and america not only arms and finances this country to the tune of $2 billion per annum but actively vetoes any attempt to stop this injustice, immoral because this same so called international community failed to intervene in rwanda in 1994 despite the fact that 1 million people were butchered at the hands of hutu militias, immoral because even in our country nigeria this same international community did  jackshit when obasanjo slaughtered innocent men women and children in odi , gbamaratu and zaki biam, immoral because nothing was said when abacha executed (extra judicially) ken saro wiwa .

economic because financially it is absolutely ludicrous to expect tax payers to foot the bill for a neo colonialist offensive when america and britain have more pressing socio economic problems to deal wiht in thier respective countries.

the ONLY beneficiaries of this debacle will be the american oil companies the arms dealers and the international financial institutions.

the african nations who voted for this are nothing but paid up rented who.res their own day of reckoning will soon come, how long before america moves south to appropriate the oil reserves in nigeria, equatorial guinea, gabon and angola ?  they deserve everything that will come there way for selling out an entire continent -  i thought they opposed AFRICOM - now AFRICOM is about to arrive on the african continent via a so called humanitarian intervention.
All good points, Cap. After watching world politics for some time, there's been a lot of unbelievable moments, but I threw up my hands when they were able to hang Sadaam after that kangaroo court proceedings in occupied territories. There's no one to stand up anymore and challenge US/UN. Mitterand is gone, and Russia/China are pursuing a new world agenda. More of this type of nonsense to come. Imagine? Bullying Victim Fights Back (Australia)

Warning: Disturbing video in article
http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/sydney-nsw/bullied-boy-at-chifley-college-dunheved-campus-suspended-after-fighting-back/story-e6freuzi-1226023526921

A Sydney schoolboy has become an internet sensation after video emerged of him body-slamming another student during a verbal and physical attack.

Striking back for bullying victims everywhere, the Year 10 boy - who pleaded with his tormenter to leave him alone - picked up his attacker and slammed him to the ground.

The teenager, said to have been bullied all his school life, was backed up against a wall, taunted and punched by a younger, smaller boy.

The victim, identified on Facebook as Casey Heynes, took a hit to the face and then more blows as the Year 7 boy goaded him to fight.

Suddenly Casey had had enough. He launched himself at his attacker, picked him up and threw him to the ground.

The younger boy staggered away, stunned and hurt.

Both students were suspended for four days after the incident on Monday.

Footage of the fight at Chifley College, Dunheved Campus at North St Marys, was posted online and drew hundreds of comments on Facebook - mostly in support of Casey.

Casey's father said his son had been the victim of bullying for several years and feared for his safety if he spoke about the fight.

"There'll be reprisals from other kids in the school and he still has to go to school somewhere," he said.

"He's not a violent kid, it's the first time he's lashed out and I don't want him to be victimised over that.

"He's always been taught never to hit. Apparently other people's parents don't teach their kids that."

Students said violence was a daily occurrence with fights often filmed and posted online.

"The fights I have seen here, it's horrible. It really makes me feel unsafe," one said. A classmate added: "People pick on him every single day, they hit him around and stuff, and he just got sick of it and let out the anger."

Online sympathisers have started a "Casey Heynes Anti Bullying Day".

A NSW Department of Education and Training spokeswoman said the school "does not tolerate any violence and deals with all cases according to its community-agreed discipline code".

"Both students in a fight at the school shown on the internet have been suspended ,  the only injury sustained was a grazed knee."
