naijababe:Just laugh it off. The people highlighting it on NL are not Ijaw. Looks like abother thread to get the tribal "debates" going. as usual. jason123:
LMAO
This Naijababe is hot-blooded o! |

Hey! Either the original author is smoking the good s#*t or there is something to this. As they say, there is nothing new under the sun. Anything is possible, but I never heard this before. We must look at it further: 1) We need Katsumoto, Kilode, Aigbofa and any of our Yoruba/Nigeria historians; 2) I will be talking to my Awori mom in a couple of hours; will ask her if she ever heard that the Ijaw/Ijo people settled Eko. I don't mind at all. We are all one. |
Bear, I was expressing my view on the sentence I highlighted. Really, that is what caught my eye. ![]() |
Why should the ACN field an Igbo candidate?
Because it is a national party, not a Yoruba or SW party. At the moment its core support is in the SW region, but there is nothing stopping ACN from spreading its appeal to other regions. I'm sure its leaders understand that, and will continue to work towards that goal. Personally, I'd love to see an Igbo president within the next 5 years - the sooner the better. It will unify the country, help heal old wounds and shut the door on the civil war for good. A truly unified Nigeria is better able to fulfill her role (really, her destiny) as the leader in Africa. /off my soapbox ![]() |

ifyalways:"Encouraged"? I don't believe suicide is encouraged in any society. Even in the very rare circumstances/cultures where it is acceptable, it usually has to do with "death before dishonour." For example, Yoruba kings are, in some cases, expected to choose suicide instead of exile or capture. PS: I later noticed you probably were being facetious, with respect to the OP. Never mind. |

blacksta:hahaha. I haven't been driven to the bottle yet. And you're not enough of a pest to do it either. I think you like the insults. That's why you pop in now and then to drop a one-liner and wait for someone to take the bait. Anyway, that is not my style. Stay here and wait for someone else to bother. The door is always open. I know someone that can satisfy your thirst for abuse. He'll be along in a minute. ![]() |
blacksta:What are you talking about? Beavis and Butthead were awesome. Which was the leader? hahaha. yup, I am fearless! What are you gonna do? Beat me up? What party were you talking about? You better fess up now before people get the wrong idea about you. ![]() |
that's funny because I don't consider myself to be all that secretive. although I certainly won't be posting my personal pics, date of birth and social security up and down a public forum. I think that should be common sense.
Jenifa, I was only asking because someone said in another thread that you are a teacher. Also, some issue about whether or not you were Nigerian - which I already thought you were - but that was cleared up. I mentioned VA because you had suggested it to me before. I personally value anonymity. I don't think Kilode and my asking is intended to delve deep. Enjoy the songs I posted. ![]() |

Jenifa was just kidding around, I'm sure. The girl didn't look that young. She could have been anywhere from mid-teens to 20's. I have a 28-year old cousin who looks that young. Post her picture again if you want. Maybe I forgot. So, I'm doing the D.J.'ing for the previously unannounced party. I like this song. Ignore the video; just listen (and dance). Great debut album from the Canadian vocalist, about 6-7 years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmYMkl1Grzc Tpia, I hope you're getting an idea of my musical taste. You asked me that question before. It's eclectic. |
Katsumoto:I'm biting my tongue. lol. <<Eery feeling of being watched>> Anyway, happy valentines day to you, and everyone. Just a couple more hours before the day is done. There should be a party as more people drop by. I'll get the music. ![]() |

dayokanu:So, I finally got around to watching the above. Hmmph! That is not Hip Hop. This is the real deal. Never mind the "trendy" outfits, the sucky video concept or the video vixens; just listen to the RHYMES. Over the next several days I will give you some more tutorial on the history of Rap. I just wanted to add that, I've always seen a similarity between early rap and Yoruba and other African traditional praise-singing. Others have made the connection, so you may even have the same view. For me, I just see how the early rappers stand in front of a crowd, battle with other rappers, praising themselves, boasting, all the braggadocio, the rhyming, and compare it to the Griots, or the person you hire to say your oriki - I forget what they're called in Yoruba. Music historians probably have differing view and can back up their theories intellectually. For me, it's almost primal - instinctive - when I watch them, I'm thinking: "this is (an extension of) Yoruba/African culture." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWlYf1G5Lig |
