I don't understand. I'll wait for someone else before I try again. Whaaaattt?? |
dayokanu:https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-603972.0.html |
Spoke too soon. It's getting serious. I'd like to stay out of this. But who is chasing married women, for real? Personally, I can barely handle the play-"flirting" in this thread. hahaha. Tpia is just sticking to her convictions. That's what I see. Stranger, good luck having a piece on the side. hahahaha. OAM4J:Good save. Now that that is all cleared up, "Can we all just get along." ![]() |
OAM4J:Hmm. A Pacifist. I kid I jest. Nothing wrong with that. Well, I can't say whether someone is hated. I know FStranger, the hunter/warrior/troublemaker, loves Tpia. I don't know what that tells us. But I get along with Tpia fine. We talk on here a lot and no one will ruin that! As NL is my witness! ![]() |
Not a problem. All's well that ends well. |
OAM4J:Yes, I am kinda new. Registered a year ago but didn't participate much until very recently. I understand about having minimal time to post on NL. No worries. Better to have real life activity, right? And dont mind tpia, am sure she knows me too well and am one of the few cool people that have never picked a fight with her.You don't have to pick a fight with Ms. Tpia. She'll challenge you when she wants. hahahaha. My very first thread she questioned me. I didn't understand her motivation, but we didn't fight. Another time, she challenged all of us posting on a thread, . . and so on. But, it's cool. I'm getting to know the different NL regulars/personalities. So, you're a peaceful one? I am not surprised; you were cool about that other thread (and the list). You know, it was getting tedious and repetitive and I was just having fun. Some buttheads didn't get it though. hmmph! ![]() |
Some USA non-news: Watched William Shatner on tv interviewing a guy - musician - talking about an attempted suicide at 17 because he hated school, wasn't getting along with his parents, his only friend had just left town, couldn't connect with girls and he thought he was ugly. Who was this guy? Rick effing Springfield. The musician all the girls and women have always thought was the cutest ever! What a world we live in. I didn't recognize Springfield at first. He didn't look like any picture online, and had grown a goatee of some sort, but still attractive. He talked about having a lot of sins including killing a man in Vietnam. So, it was him - Rick S. Good interview. Wow! Had only ever seen a few minutes of the show twice before - with the notorius schoolteacher who had a child with her student, and Bernie Goetz the NY subway vigilante. Had no idea Shatner had a regular show. Just never struck me as the kind of person who had any interest in other people or what they had to say. Always had a reputation for being up his own you-know-what. And the guy (Shatner)* was born in 1931. Wow. 80 yrs old. Holding up well. *edited to clarify Shatner was born in 1931. |
Katsumoto:Yay! for severe punishment for criminals. ![]() So, what did you study in school? If you're not the book-learning type, what's your hobby, other than Nigerian (civil war) history? |
the victim is still in a coma.
Yes, very bad. I'd rather hear that brother Akeem is doing well, than about that guy. Too bad he won't stand trial! Check this out - lower half of page: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-594719.128.html |
Maybe some don't mind smelling other people's gas - in a cooped up place - but I know I do. Have you ever been on a commuter train or bus, and someone does that? If it's outdoors, no worries. ![]() |
obowunmi:lol. Wow! You are reaching a lot of suppositions here. The perpetrator, hopefully if the news is true, now hideously dead perpetrator, was a career criminal. Successful career criminals know how to fake the funk - how to blend in and assume an image. How do you know he spoke ebonics and wore saggy bottom pants? Jeez Maalu! BTW, hope you find your pet monkey. |
Update: fstranger3: |
fstranger3:They better make sure it was him. That guy had an uncle in the police force. He was savvy with the intricacies of crime and hiding out.
^kai, he died by the sword eventually, just because of BMW? SMH
Too bad they didn't behead him. What a lowlife! |
what the . . . . . . i have to go through your posts now so i can know more about you. you've spiked my curiosity.
I know, right? I just recently noticed him (OAM4J) too. In the Gay Ugandan thread of all things. How much we've missed. We could have been hanging out and harassing him for months. Well, better late than never.
the Hot dudes have gone to sleep. thank goodness.
Oh, sis. They never sleep. They just lie in wait; to pounce another day. |
dayokanu:So did I. But you have a larger vocabulary, that's for sure. I shall be reading my Yoruba books pronto. Katsumoto:Brothers and sisters! I always think of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhUstwfEtns OAM4J:Good to know. So you speak fluent Yoruba, and fluent English. What other languages do you speak? "Pidgin English" and "Broken English" do not qualify. hahaha. IsaleGangan, While you were typing your response (and making your dinner) 28 new replies have been posted. |
dayokanu:Ah! Grazie. |
fstranger3:What is the "dede" doing there? Some Ife thing? Emi o de n binu? I'm not a person who is quick to anger, right? Just trying to follow. No offeinse truss me. i8millar:hahaha. You're no slouch, Naijababe. I bet you can hold your on. Don't let DK show us up here. ![]() |
dayokanu:DK, No contest. I am not taking you up on that challenge to see who is more fluent in Yoruba. What I know is to write it well. I can't even make out half the the stuff you're saying. The hard Yoruba, as opposed to the light Lagos Yoruba goes over my head. I wouldn't have done any better with that sentence than Katsumoto. What I worry about is my vocabulary. I am making sure to speak it more now, cos I hate to lose the diction of a native speaker. When we were kids, we always made fun of people who didn't pronounce their words well. It would be so not politically correct to repeat the term we used for those kinds of people. ![]() Not you, Katsumoto. I'm sure you sound great. fstranger3:She's (from her location) the ganja farmer/pot dealer/dope fiend. Same thing. Lovely! ![]() Katsumoto:Katz, I'm only me - Isale Gangan. No duplicate. |
DK, What are you and Stranger doing to Becomrich? I saw your little thread. You know his head will explode, right? hahaha |
Katsumoto:Si, Senor. Mucho gracias for the correction. Poquito espanol. Katsumoto:I'm scared for you, brother. ![]() |
He might be one of those "Black Afghanistans." Katsumoto:Did you see a thread about Wikileak's unreleased revelations about Nairaland? It was clandestinely created by an underground band of Nairaland Revolutionaries to expose the nefarious goings on behind the scene. We were all, that is, those of us who happened to log-in to NL for the blink of an eye it was allowed to exist, were treated to scandalous revelations about the powers-that-be at NL. One of those "NL Regulars" was a dangerous fellow whose ethnic identity was revealed to be "Black Afghanistan." I repeat, Oga Katsumoto, are you one of "those" people? K-A-T-S-U-M-O-T-O. Yeah, just as I suspected. Black and Afghan. I'll be doggoned! |
So, is this a people's revolution or a military takeover? I guess we'll see in the coming days. All over Africa, we've done the military thing again and again and hoped we'd left it behind and move forward. Are they regressing? All right, we can answer that later. For now, we keep rejoicing. ![]() |
Yes I need to pop some bottle for the revolution, Interesting times, i'm happy for egyptians.
Mubarak Steps Down, Ceding Power to Military CAIRO — President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt resigned his post and turned over all power to the military on Friday, ending his nearly 30 years of autocratic rule and bowing to a historic popular uprising that has transformed politics in Egypt and around the Arab world. The streets of Cairo exploded in shouts of “God is Great” moments after Mr. Mubarak’s vice president and longtime intelligence chief, Omar Suleiman, announced during evening prayers that Mr. Mubarak had passed all authority to a council of military leaders. Even before he had finished speaking, protesters began hugging and cheering, shouting “Egypt is free!” and “You’re an Egyptian, lift your head” “He’s finally off our throats,” said one protester, Muhammad Insheemy. “Soon, we will bring someone good.” The departure of the 82-year-old Mr. Mubarak, at least initially to his coastal resort home in Sharm el-Sheik, was a pivotal turn in a three-week revolt that has upended one of the Arab’s world’s most enduring dictatorships. The popular protest, peaceful and resilient despite numerous effort by Mr. Mubarak’s legendary security apparatus to suppress it, ultimately deposed an ally of the United States who has been instrumental in implementing American policy in the region for decades. His departure leaves the military in charge of this nation of 80 million, facing insistent calls for fundamental democratic change and open elections. The military, which has repeatedly promised to respond to the demands of protesters, has little recent experience in directly governing the country. It will have to defuse demonstrations and strikes that have paralyzed the economy and left many of the country’s institutions, including state news media and the security forces, in shambles. Shortly before the announcement of Mr. Mubarak’s departure, the military issued a communiqué pledging to carry out a variety of constitutional reforms in a statement remarkable for its commanding tone. The military’s statement alluded to the delegation of power to Mr. Suleiman and it suggested that the military would supervise implementation of the reforms. In Tahrir Square, the focal point of the uprising, many protesters were overcome with the emotion of achieving their unlikely but determined quest to overthrow Mr. Mubarak. More than an hour after Mr. Suleiman spoke, the din was undiminished, as the celebrants, some in tears, shouted, sang, embraced and chanted. The slogan of the revolution, “The people want to bring down the regime,” adopted from Tunisia, became, “The people, at last, have brought down the regime.” Parents were seen putting their children on the tanks to have their photos snapped with the soldiers, while the soldiers reached down to shake hands with the protesters and people chanted, “The people and the army are one hand.” In a show of solidarity in at least lower levels of the army, three Egyptian officers shed their weapons and uniforms and joined the protesters. “Now, we can breathe fresh air, we can feel our freedom,” said Dr. Gamal Heshamt, a former member of Parliament and a member of the Muslim Brotherhood. “Now we can start to build our country. After 30 years of absence from the world, Egypt is back.” Some people waved Tunisian flags, while young women danced on the hulking remains of burned-out armored personnel carriers. The Qasr al-Nil bridge, the sight of ugly fighting between the protesters and Mubarak supporters, was crammed from one end to the next with people cheering and chanting, “Egypt! Egypt! Egypt!” “The Egyptian people are heroes,” said Samia Mahmoud, 41, who said he works in the tourist industry in Sharm el-Sheik. “I’m hoping for a new Egypt.” Amr Sayed, 20, who had been in the square for the last 15 days, said simply, “The people wanted to take back their rights, and now they have.” http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/12/world/middleeast/12egypt.html?hp |
@Katsumoto I think this site has a Yoruba translator http://www.kasahorow.org/ak/ims/yoruba I've not used it. I'm not certain it will be too useful to a Yoruba speaker though.
In case you saw my post way up there, I am simply curious about anything that allows me to easily accent vowels while typing Yoruba. Before I forget, HELLO OGA KILODE! Watching MSNBC. Gotta step away. Be back later with more on La revolucion. |
Mubarak is out. Viva la Revolucion! Long live the Revolution!!! Long live the Republic!! Long live Africa!!! hahahaha Who's gonna lead the revolution in Naija now? I think our revolution involves us all returning home. I'm serious. I saw a list of the alumni of a big university in Naija and more than half, probably as much as 75%, were residing outside the country. I'm talking about doctors, scientists, every profession and field you can think of. |
fstranger3:I don't understand that at all. What dialect? I'm from Lagos, please. Softly softly Yoruba. Can you help with my question above about accenting vowels? Katsumoto: ![]() Katsumoto:? Si eres un nigeriano? P.S. You don't have to say - at least, not just yet. A little mystery never hurt anyone. |
i used to watch him? ![]() could be true sha. It'll come up later. ![]() i cant oh. He needs a very laidback kind of person or maybe a boxing champ. In fact, i dont know.Yeah. DK is much more of a handful than I ever imagined. I don't know which will make you do a violent crime and end up behind bars faster - DK or Stranger? hahaha debosky would have made somebody carry belle before she even realized he was toasting her. Classic. That has to go into NL Famous Quotes. |
Katsumoto: ![]() Speaking for myself, it is hard writing Yoruba (online) without the mechanism to accent the vowels, and even harder to read. If you're writing it, at least you know what you mean and which (unseen) tonal markings go where, but reading someone else's is challenging. Sometimes I don't even bother, especially the longer exchanges. I still haven't read all your exchanges with OAM4J. Maybe I should go back and reread the ones I missed. ![]() On a serious note, I would like suggestions on any program that I can use to do the task of accenting vowels, or do I just have to use symbols? That would take longer. I've seen a poster here that writes his yoruba with tonal markings / accented vowels. I can't remember his moniker. |
lol but he cant leave you alone sha.
You haven't been watching him as well as you used to. Nuff said. i know you're trying to send his wife after me.Well, I think you are the only one tough enough to put up with DK . I would have a nervous breakdown. I totally undestand abut the high bp now. nah, i think you misunderstood me.Debosky did no such thing. Or am I not astute enough in such matters . I think I would have noticed. hahaha. Debosky and Blacksta, don't get me started. They'll never live that down. The thread lives on and on and on. . . . ![]() |

Remember when you told me sometimes you have trouble deciphering my posts? lol Do you want to kill the thread? Anyway, I have narrowed it down, but I can't pick just yet, because we have some who have not declared. Anon 1 2 3. Okay we'll remove one anon. So, I'm thinking 4 potential "suitors." We'll sort it out shortly. Do you think I need to do this by Vakentines day? Pressure! I think you may have to take Dayokanu. He's not serious. ![]() P.S. I meant he's not serious about me. I think he's been hounding you for ages. You can also take FStranger and throw him away. He's bad news. I can't stand the sight of him anymore. I mean that. ![]() |
Katsumoto:Stranger will do what Stranger does. ![]() My parents do not discriminate. My mom cares if you have cashola (or gainfully employed). My dad cares if you have character.
