Those that are using Jbd bms, what is an average MOS Temperature of the bms while charging the battery and does it have a stopping point. I connected 150A Jbd bms to charge 48v 160ah lfp today. As the charging amp/watt was increasing, the bms MOS Temperature was increasing which is normal. At about 1800w going into the battery, I was seeing the MOS Temperature of about 36'C. Unlike my Jk bms that the MOS Temperature does not pass 32'C even when I pumped 2500w into the battery.
mctfopt: CATL is not superior to EVE cells, the issue is will you get the real EVE cells? Many sellers sell fake EVE cells. Better you buy an original CATL cells than a fake EVE. But if you are sure of your plug, EVE is better
I've been hearing good things about Catl and Rept cells. I've ordered them already and I want to compare the three in practical.
mctfopt: Go for #3 since all their energy storage systems use CATL LFP cells.
CATL has been in the game of LFP manufacture since 2011.
CATL has a global market share of 34.8% in the production of LFP cells in the first half of 2023. This makes CATL the world's leading producer of LFP cells.
In your opinion here, do you mean Catl is more superior than Eve? If yes, why is Eve cells more expensive than Catl cells?
TechGeek777: Thought they said lithium iron phosphate (LFP) does not catch fire nor explode?
Maybe the info wasn't properly given..... There are many factors that lead to fire incident here and it affects all the battery chemistry, not only LFP. One of the factors is in the even of short circuit within the battery cells and the spark here could lead to thermal runaway and may eventually lead to fire incident. The manner and way cheap products are being sold in Nigerian markets are quite alarming and because of high poverty rate and lack awareness, the sellers are making huge amount of money from them, not minding the danger of those fake products.
Pv Magazine report has not been verified. Analysis of the photographs from the scene shows that the battery structure is intact. Investigation is still ongoing and the authentic info on the incident as it comes out would be very helpful and that would also stop speculation and false claims.
JUO: we spoken, I hope you will recommend our battery? Good battery is not cheap
We all know that very few people will be able to afford EV grade cells. As many of us are dealing with non Ev grade cells generally known as grade B, we should try to adjust our marketing terms to reflect what we sell. I salute Amy Wan, Gloria Basen, Cassie Wang and few others for their marketing strategies but Selina Li must step up her game. Telling people like us who are very inquisitive that Eve has grade A, grade A+, grade A-, grade with letter B QR Code and grade without letter B QR Code is not a good marketing strategy.
casualobserver: I am sorry but that is BS. I am not a pro but in my quest to build a solar system I have had to watch a lot of YouTube videos, read a lot of solar forums and followed this section on Nairaland as it is clear there is a lot of cowboys, quackery, ignorance, misinformation and “anyhowness” in the Nigerian solar space, this is even before those who just want your money and will tell you anything to get it. I have been to a well known solar installer with its own OEM branded axpert products that couldn’t tell me the brand of lifepo4 cells in the lithium batteries they sell.
Cells are either Certified Automotive grade or they are rejected cells. Any rejected cell is a grade B cell. Once you are dealing with rejected cells (which could be rejected for a number of reasons) you are on your own. They may be cells good enough for home storage but not for the automotive demands or they may be outright bad cells.
1. QR code means nothing as they are faked 2. Eve started stamping their Rejected cells with “B” grade on the QR code but Chinese resellers have found a way to “remove” the “B” stamp. B does not mean a cell is bad, however the problem with B is that it can be good or it can be bad. Most A cells on the market are B cells, so they could be good or they could be bad. 3. That a cell tests ok for capacity does not mean it is a good cell. Many cells will test ok for capacity but will drop voltage under load. Just like a bad lead acid battery, it depends on the load on it. I will post a video below highlighting this. 4. Your battery is only as good as the worst cell in your pack. If there is one bad cell it will bring the whole battery down. 5. There is nothing wrong with the better “B” grade cells for ESS (which people falsely call A- or outrightly sell as “A” but you have to test them individually and match them for voltage, capacity and internal resistance. Otherwise the cells start to deviate as you charge aand discharge due to different internal resistances of the cells and before you know it the individual cell voltages go out of whack, your BMS is shutting off charging or discharging because one cell is hitting low or high cut off voltage before the others and you are not getting the available capacity you have despite having the capacity. Cells with different internal resistance will discharge at different rates to each other. So you see it is not just about putting cells together with the same capacity. We need to know what the internal resistance of the cells put together are…hence the need for matching. 6. What you need for any cell is the manufacturers test report. Do not buy a cell from anyone without a manufacturers test report. You need that to match the cells in a pack. QR code even if legit is meaningless on It’s own. what you need to assemble a battery is consistency/matching of the cells so the cells charge and discharge in unison. 7. When you see a battery with a recommended continuous charge/discharge rate of less than .5c it is a sign the battery contains poor grade cells. The popular lithium batteries beginning with “F” is an example of this. If you check the specs of reputable batteries like pylontech or BYD. You will see they are .5c continuous. There is a reason they cost more. Also a sign of poor grade cells is when a battery has its cut off voltages limited in the BMS or you are restricted to 80% capacity to keep the cells in the flat range where the voltages will not diverge due to inconsistent cells. 8. Again the overwhelming majority of these batteries are not certified grade A but some can be used so long as they are matched for capacity and internal resistance and for peace of mind you need the manufacturers test report. QR code means nothing when putting cells together. I was watching a YouTube video only yesterday of a guy in the US who actually makes and sells batteries and he says even from his reliable Chinese cell supplier, sometimes 4 out of 16 cells will be bad cells and if you are buying from these suppliers buy 20 if you need 16. Unfortunately I can’t find the video. 9. If a cell is not certified automotive grade, it is a “B” cell. If it is certified automotive grade, it will have a manufacturers test report. There are good “B” cell, many reputable battery manufacturers assemble good reliable batteries with “b” cells after carefully matching them and many resellers would the world a lot of good if they just say these are good “b” cells with the matching documentation and test reports. The minute someone is telling me a cell is “A” grade A- or whatever and has no test report, he is either ignorant or lying to me.
The picture below is an example of what the test results of a battery with matched cells should look like.
Bros, you had time for these explanations..... Just as I earlier said, I didn't want us to go deeply into the fraudulent activities of most Chinese lifepo4 battery Vendors. Our guys selling lifepo4 batteries here should be mindful of the information they drop here as most of us are well informed.
Valto: sorry for your bad experience, but wrong assumption bro. people still use brand new grade A cells to couple, i order cells from reputable Chinese suppliers (docan, shenzhen starmax, shenzhen xuba and shenzhen new deriy) most of my cells have capacity test performed on them, and they are all above capacity with very high cycles and authentic QR code. i use the best Bluetooth bms, pure copper battery terminals, thick copper 10mm, 16mm,25mm,35mm wires depending on battery capacity. Premium lithium battery packs are pricey, but better soup na money kill am! Never will u open up my pack and see low grade crap cells
Selina representing Shenzhen New Deriy does NOT sell grade A cells. If you doubt, then let her give you the manufacture test report from Eve and let's look at it and confirm. I don't know about others
mctfopt: All inverters may work with lithium, but not all inverters charging voltage profile is ok for lithium batteries.
Factory setting could be done on charging profile to make it compatible with lithium. This is possible if he wants to buy directly from the company. I did it three weeks ago.
swagifted: it was set at 25 degrees, the AC is not on inverter yet.... Am just saying the energy consumption was low enough for me to want to run it from inverter later
There are a lot of factors to considered including the ambient temperature. Return it to 16'C and give us report. Mine consume about 151 at 27'C maintaining an average coolness at night, sometimes it's lower, sometimes it's a bit higher depending on these factors.
@ Ameh99. I've gone through your previous advert and I've not found a single price tag on your products. If I may ask, what is really your reason for that? You may claim that others are not pasting price on their advertised products too but if you go through their previous advert, you will certainly see prices for some of their products.
If someone consistently refuse to make the price of his products known publicly, then there must be 'red' flag somewhere along the line.
kristien4: 300k for the 4pcs?... and are they coming it 12v? I thought lifepo4 was more expensive?
Check the previous page and you'll see 95k for 230ah (380k for 4 pcs). 160ah will be much cheaper for you with more usable ah than 230ah lead acid battery. You could buy 20a 4s Daly bms with bluethooth depending on the instantaneous amps you intend to pull out from the battery, buy breaker and tell them to couple it for you using a cheaper local wood. No need for battery voltage meter.
peterpeteru: Not at all. It just displays the code and keeps beeping continously.
Mine was displaying error code 06 on Felicity inverter and light was still entering the house. I called their repair center and I was told to send it and I was about to send it to their Abuja office before I decided to try my diy luck by opening it. I later realized one of the temperature sensor cable was bad, I change it and the error code disappeared.
peterpeteru: Hello Gurus. Kudos for your great work here.
My 3.5KVA Ipower inverter is displaying a code 6 error. I took it to Zinox office and was told to pay N85k for repairs which will take 4 weeks. This is the 2nd time of repairing it there. The first time it took them 9 months. A week after collecting it, one of the fans stopped working, but it still worked and I supported it with an external fan.
I don't even load the Inverter up to 10% since I bought it 2 years ago, yet it keeps having issues.
Please, what do you advise? Any alternative step I can take? N85k is too much for this unreliable device biko.
Your case might be different from mine. With the displayed error code, is the inverter still powering the house?
FEGEITOK: Although I said earlier: "It is a choice between chasing 10,000 clients paying 10,000.00 each on the one side OR say 10 clients paying 10,000,000.00"
It could also be 2 clients paying 50,000,000.00 or 1 client paying 100,000,000.00
Now imagine that 1 of the 2 clients paying 50,000,000.00 decides to drop you when you did nothing wrong. Say the CEO is retiring and decides that he needs to go home with your contract pay as his retirement package, so he substitutes your company with his junior brother's company.
You had no prior knowledge of this coming. What happens to your projections? What happens to everyone else who suffers from this executive action? Your staff? Your family life? Your love/romantic live? Can you handle the emotional toll that comes from things going this way?
If this happens in say September you have barely enough time to find an alternative or alternatives as mega corporate deals are rarely completed in 3 months, a 6 month to 9 month or even 12 month timeframe might be more realistic.
You know that unlike what happens on nairaland, you cannot call him out because if you do, no other person from that company will deal with you again. And if care is not taken, no other person from that industry as a whole will deal with you because you a snitch.
You also know that you cannot take it to court, because then you will put the whole world on notice that you are a fighter which might negatively affect the attraction of future business.
In addition, to the above, there is the stress of always learning, to stay ahead of the curve so you don't become a Nokia and continue to be relevant to your clients both current and future.
It could also be the other way around. You are the favored contractor getting all the juiciest of deals, and when there is a change of the guard, your patronage drops to zero in an instant. You are then relegated from most favored status to persona non grata.
jonescosmos: oops, didn't see the hair ooo. thought it was a Dryer Machine ooo.
But which kind of rhetoric question be this one na? Johnson how ca a Hair Dryer have a compressor?
Someone that wanted to install solar for her wife's hair dressing salon asked me that question. I didn't know the answer and I decided to forward it to the house. Forgive my ignorant Boss.
Even as the purchase price has changed and people are adopting new approach, some guys here still adjust their products price accordingly and paste them here for potential buyers. I really appreciate them for that.......
Immanuelar: I doubt that. But, where can one get the ACTUAL 10kwh felicity lifepo4 then?
Why are doubting? We are waiting for the results of your capacity test to clear the doubt. We have gone far in this lane and it will be very hard for people to trick us with second life lifepo4 cells.
Juror: I can vouch for the eve cells I got from Deriy, at least the qr codes confirmed them.
Could you please give us what the qr code confirmed including the capacity/purchase price? People that need real grade A cells buy direct from Eve and get manufacturer test report/test datasheet and it's very expensive. Vendors have already started to relaser, re-QRcode the Eve cells. Initially, I thought B mark is going to help... Now, we don't know the original manufacturing date anymore. Most of the vendors has grade A brand new cells for sale but few actually do automotive grade and those that do send you test report from Eve. We do not actually need automotive grade for solar storage and that's why I always go for whatever grade that the capacity test is up to what is being stated.
ojesymsym: The feedback I am getting is that our Chinese guys were firmly on ground. I hear they have started offering 15 years to 20 years battery warranty.
The capacity I hear they are offering on inverters is so far unbelievable that I cannot yet mention it until I get concrete proof.
I understand these Chinese guys are taking this space by storm o. I am not too shocked though, considering how far they have gone with electric cars.
Is the 15 to 20 years warranty on the same lifepo4 battery we've been using and with how many life cycle? I just hope they were not deceiving the masses. There are a lot of discussions on issue of Eve grade A cells in other forums that Eve does not cell grade A to those marketers (vendors) we usually buy from..... I'm hoping to know the life cycle, the unit price/capacity, the company (Eve, Reph, CATL) of this very product in questions.
