Politics / Fulani Herdsmen Raid Umogidi In Benue, Kill Policeman, 45 Others by IslamIsIdiotic: 7:09am On Apr 07, 2023
Forty-six persons were reportedly killed on Wednesday as suspected armed herders unleashed a deadly attack on the Umogidi community of Entekpa Adoka district in the Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.

The fresh attack came a day after suspected herders invaded the community and killed three persons on Tuesday.

On Monday, the Igbobi community in the neighbouring Apa Local Government Area of the state was also attacked, with three persons killed.

It was gathered that the armed herders returned to the Umogidi community on Wednesday evening, shortly after the burial of the three persons earlier killed in the Tuesday attack.

The Special Adviser to Governor Samuel Ortom on Security, Lt. Col. Paul Hemba (retd.), while speaking to journalists on the phone, described the incident as “very tragic and painful.”

He said, ‘I can confirm to you that there was an attack in Umogidi and as of this morning, the causality figure, from those who were seen physically from what I was told, was 46. But the figure may be higher because some people are still reported missing.”

Also, confirming the attack, the Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area, Bako Eje, on Thursday, said, “You know that these herders killed three people on Tuesday and they (herders) came back on Wednesday at about 4.15 pm and killed 46 people, including my own son, who was 32 years old. We just buried him and some other persons are still missing.

Among the people killed were my immediate younger sister’s husband, and her second son who was almost 38 years old.”

Narrating the attack, a resident of the community, who identified himself as Sunny, said, “We were still mourning the death of the three people killed on Tuesday by these herders when we started hearing gunshots from different angles leading to the death of several people.”

The spokesperson for the state police command, Catherine Anene, confirmed the recovery of eight corpses.

“Attack on Umogidi community is confirmed. Eight corpses have been recovered, including a police officer. More police teams have been deployed to the area to forestall further breakdown of law and order,” Anene said.

Meanwhile, no fewer than 60 people have been reportedly killed across some villages in the state in the past month.

A media platform, Christian News, claimed that the deceased victims were Christians, although, The PUNCH could not verify the claim by the news platform.

The latest attack was the killing of seven people in the Ikobi and Apa communities on Saturday, April 1.

Assailants were said to have killed a Christian in an attack on a worship meeting at night in Ikobi.

Earlier that day, several houses were said to have been razed, while more than six Christians were killed by the attackers.

"Christian villages in Apa Local Government Area are under attack. Many Christians have been displaced by armed herdsmen. These attacks have forced Christians to abandon their farms. There has been no government intervention in order to stem these attacks.”

In Benue state’s Logo County on Saturday night, Fulani herdsmen invaded a church service at about 9 p.m., killed one Christian, wounded five others and kidnapped the pastor and four other congregation members, sources said.

On March 26 in Guma Local Government Area, five persons were killed in Fulani herdsmen attacks on the predominantly Christian villages of Njee and Chongu, after Udei village was attacked on March 23, said area resident James Anyamnhu.

Five Christians were killed in these attacks. Three of the victims were Christian women, while two of them were men. The victims are farmers,”

Anyamnhu was quoted by the news platform.

Also in the Agatu and Otukpo communities, five Christians were killed in an attack on March 23 in Atakpa, Agatu, Iwili, and Otukpo communities, a council official in the Agatu Local Government Area, Joseph Ngbede, disclosed. He also added that Guma County was also attacked.

Also On March 13, more than 50 Christians were killed in the Kwande community, some of the community leaders disclosed in a statement.

"We write to report recent, sustained terror attacks on our communities over the past 10 days which have resulted in over 50 people dead, several injured, thousands displaced and loss of property and farmlands,” stated Festus Iorkyaa, Eric Tyohemba Udu and Solomon Terfa Jijah of the Turan Development Association (TUDA).

The killings and destruction of properties occur on a daily basis, they said.

“In some cases, the herdsmen have taken over the lands and settled on them,” they stated. “They come in good numbers with their cattle, destroying farm produce for their animals to graze, chase away the Christian inhabitants of such areas and pitch their tents there."

They identified some of the Christians killed as Abande Njoor, Iornum Sonter, Abraham Terna, Aker Shagba Achuna, Kendon Tyover, Ornguga Tyodoo, Ajoh Iorhemba, Orshio Msughter, Abe Nyam, Aker Ushahembas, Ayagwa Lunen, Apav Terhile, Jirbee Amaku, Aza Bem, Ahil Wende, Iormumbes Ashi Shimave, Terhemba Madom, Andyar Aemberga, Kundu Igba, Tarkper Adomko, Jirbee Amaku,Terlumun Swen, Terna Udam, Atighir Aondokula, Terfa Mbagbar, Terver Mbagbar, Terzungwe Chagh, Tyoazua Aondona, Kogh Aondowase, Akura Utoo, Iortsor Shaapera, Awuhe Terhemen, Lase Mbanengen, Kuku Terngu, Kuku Mzehemen and Hangeuir Iorwuese Kuta.

The Executive Secretary of the state Emergency and Management Agency, Dr Emmanuel Shior had on March 13 said that 5,138 people were killed by suspected herders under Governor Samuel Ortom’s administration.

The SEMA boss while addressing journalists on the humanitarian situation in the state since the assumption of office of Ortom led administration about eight years, said in all, 18 of the 23 local government areas of the state were attacked by suspected armed herders.

Shior who gave the breakdown of deaths recorded since the assumption of office of Governor Ortom in 2015 hinted that the figures were the ones recorded.

According to him, in 2015, 1,177 deaths were recorded, in 2016, 809, deaths, 2017, 43 deaths were recorded, in 2018, 440 people were recorded killed.

He further said that the state recorded 174 deaths in 2019, and 88 in 2020 while a colossal death of 2,131 deaths was recorded in 2021, 172 deaths were recorded in 2022 and from January 2023 till date, 104 deaths have been recorded.

"So, in all the total of death since 2015 till date is 5,138”, Shior said.

SEMA boss regretted that there had been renewed attacks in some local government areas of the state shortly after the presidential and national assembly elections.

Shior said, “There was more influx of herders since the presidential election because Ortom lost his senatorial election."

The SEMA boss said that the incessant attacks from the previous government informed the Ortom administration to enact the anti-open grazing law but regretted that both the Federal Government and security agencies who should have supported the state government to enforce to the law have refused to do so.

The state government also came out with livestock guards and Community Volunteers Guards to ensure the protection of lives and property, with all these measures, there is no end in sight,” he said.

While decrying the attitude of the President, Major General Muhammad Buhari (retd.), regime towards the plights of Benue people in the hands of armed herders, Shior appealed to the incoming president to work towards ending the insecurity in the state.

Properties / Re: These Houses Were Built With MUD. Why Do We Waste Money On Cement? by IslamIsIdiotic: 8:36pm On Mar 26, 2023
Actually, the use of cement in construction dates back to ancient times.

The oldest known cement building is the 12th-century underground cistern called the "Basilica Cistern" in Istanbul, Turkey. The cistern was built during the reign of Byzantine Emperor Justinian I and was used to store water for the Great Palace of Constantinople.

This structure is nearly a thousand years old and it is still in use to this day.

....

So WHY do we waste money on expensive cement?

You cannot tell me cement buildings lasts longer than mud buildings. The Kano Wall is over 1,200 years old, as is the Benin wall, and they are still standing today!

You have guys sitting in the village moaning that they can't afford to build a house, citing the high cost of cement.

Yet they are surrounded by CLAY which they can use to erect these fabulous buildings virtually for free!

What is going on with us for goodness sakes in this country?

Politics / FEC Approves N454bn For Kano-Niger Republic Railway by IslamIsIdiotic: 12:41pm On Mar 23, 2023
The Federal Executive Council, on Wednesday, approved the sum of N453.90bn for the procurement of rolling stock, operation and maintenance equipment for the Kano-Maradi standard gauge rail line currently under construction.

The amount also includes N510.93m meant for procuring four customised fire service/search and rescue vans in seaports at Port Harcourt, Lagos Port Complex, Tincan Island port and the Marina headquarters of the Nigerian Ports Authority.

The Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Sambo, disclosed this to State House correspondents after this week’s Council meeting chaired by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Kicked off in 2021, the 248km rail line will traverses Kano other cities such as Kazaure in Bauchi State, Daura and Mashi in Katsina State; Dutse in Jigawa State, the border town of Jibia, before terminating in Niger Republic’s trade and agricultural hub of Maradi.

According to a former Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, the line has 15 stations along its path with a forecasted daily traffic of 9,364 passengers and approximately 3000 metric tons of cargo.

However, the project has been fraught with resistance, especially from lawmakers.

In November 2021, The PUNCH reported that the National Assembly Joint Committee on Land and Marine Transport faulted the proposed rail project.

But speaking on Wednesday, Sambo explained, “The memorandum sought council’s consideration and approval for the award of contract for the procurement of rolling stock, operation or maintenance equipment for the Kano-Maradi standard gauge line that is currently under construction.

"The contract was awarded to MSSRs Mota-Engil Nigeria Limited, who are the contractors handling this particular project in the sum of $984,722,302.5 inclusive of seven and a half per cent VAT with a completion period of four years.”

Religion / Re: Is God Everywhere, Omnipresent? by IslamIsIdiotic: 11:15am On Mar 20, 2023
In relation to the Trinity, what does Isaiah 9:6 signify?

Unto us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Jokanem:
Is God Everywhere, Omnipresent?

God is able to see everything and to act anywhere he chooses. (Proverbs 15:3; Hebrews 4:13)

However, the Bible does not teach that God is omnipresent—that is, present everywhere, in all things. Instead, it shows that he is a person and that he resides in a dwelling place.

God’s form:

God is a spirit person. (John 4:24)
He is invisible to humans. (John 1:18)

Visions of God recorded in the Bible consistently portray him as having a distinct location.

He is never depicted as existing everywhere.—Isaiah 6:1, 2; Revelation 4:2, 3, 8.

God’s dwelling place:

God resides in the spirit realm, which is distinct from physical creation.

Within that realm, God has a “dwelling place in the heavens.” (1 Kings 8:30)

The Bible mentions an occasion when spirit creatures “entered to take their station before Jehovah,” a showing that in a sense, God resides at a specific location.—Job 1:6.

If God is not omnipresent, can he really care for me personally?

Yes. God cares deeply about individuals.

Although he lives in the spirit realm, God notices those on earth who truly want to please him, and he acts in their behalf. (1 Kings 8:39; 2 Chronicles 16:9)

Consider how Jehovah demonstrates his concern for sincere worshippers:

When you pray:

Jehovah can hear your prayer the moment you say it.—2 Chronicles 18:31.

When you are depressed:

“Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; he saves those who are crushed in spirit.”—Psalm 34:18.

When you need direction:

Jehovah “will give you insight and instruct you” by means of his Word, the Bible.—Psalm 32:8.

Misconceptions about omnipresence

1) Misconception: God is present everywhere in creation.

Fact:
God dwells neither on the earth nor elsewhere in the physical universe. (1 Kings 8:27)

It is true that the stars and other creative works “are declaring the glory of God.” (Psalm 19:1)

However, God does not inhabit his creation any more than an artist lives in his painting.

Still, a painting can tell us something about the artist who made it.

Similarly, the visible world tells us about the Creator’s “invisible qualities,” such as his power, wisdom, and love.—Romans 1:20.

2) Misconception: God must be omnipresent in order to know all things and be all-powerful.

Fact:
God’s holy spirit, or active force, is God’s power in action. Through his holy spirit, God can perceive and do anything, anywhere, at any time, without being present in person.—Psalm 139:7.

3) Misconception: Psalm 139:8 teaches that God is omnipresent by saying: “If I were to ascend to heaven, you would be there, and if I were to make my bed in the Grave, look! you would be there.”

Fact:
This scripture is not talking about God’s location. It poetically teaches that no place is too remote for God to act in our behalf.

Religion / Re: How You Can Pray And Be Heard !!! by IslamIsIdiotic: 6:57pm On Feb 26, 2023
Is it true that Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe that the Old Testament contains prophecies about Jesus?

Jokanem:
How Can You Pray and Be Heard?

Jehovah God is the “Hearer of prayer.” (Psalm 65:2) We can speak to him anywhere and at any time, aloud or silently.

Jehovah wants us to address him as “Father,” and he really is the best Father we can have. (Matthew 6:9) Lovingly, Jehovah teaches us how to pray and be heard by him.

PRAY TO JEHOVAH GOD IN THE NAME OF JESUS

“If you ask the Father for anything, he will give it to you in my name.”—John 16:23.

Jesus’ words clearly show that Jehovah wants us to pray to him, not through images, saints, angels, or departed ancestors, but in the name of Jesus Christ.

When we pray to God in Jesus’ name, we show that we recognize the vital role of Jesus. “No one comes to the Father except through me,” said Jesus.—John 14:6.

SPEAK FROM THE HEART

“Pour out your hearts before him.”—Psalm 62:8.

When we pray to Jehovah, we should speak as we would to a loving father. Instead of reading out of a book or reciting something memorized, we should speak to him respectfully and from the heart.

PRAY IN HARMONY WITH GOD’S WILL
“No matter what we ask according to his will, he hears us.”—1 John 5:14.

In the Bible, Jehovah God tells us what he will do for us and what he wants us to do for him. For our prayers to be acceptable to God, we need to pray “according to his will.” To do so, we need to study the Bible so that we can get to know him well. If we do, our prayers will be pleasing to him.

WHAT MIGHT WE PRAY FOR?

Pray for Your Needs. We can pray to God for our daily needs—food, clothing, and shelter. We might also pray for wisdom to make right decisions and for strength to endure our trials. We can pray for faith, for forgiveness, and for God’s help.—Luke 11:3, 4, 13; James 1:5, 17.

Pray for Others.

Caring parents are pleased when their children love one another. Jehovah too desires that his children on earth care about one another. It is appropriate to pray for our mate, our children, our family, and our friends. “Pray for one another,” wrote the disciple James.—James 5:16.

Express Thanks.

Of our Creator, the Bible says: “He did good, giving you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying you with food and filling your hearts with gladness.” (Acts 14:17)

When we think about all that God has done for us, we will be moved to express our thanks to him in prayer. Of course, we should also show our gratitude to God by the way we live.—Colossians 3:15.

BE PATIENT AND KEEP PRAYING

At times, we may feel disheartened because of not getting an immediate answer to our sincere prayers. Should we conclude that God is not interested in us? By no means!

The Bible records many of Jesus’ prayers. The best known is surely the one he taught his disciples. What can we learn from it?

The Lord’s Prayer—A Model for You

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus gave his disciples a model prayer, often called the Lord’s Prayer. (Matthew 6:9-13; see also Luke 11:2-4.)

Over the centuries, this prayer has become so popular that many have memorized and repeated it word for word. Was that Jesus’ intention for this prayer? It hardly seems likely because earlier in that sermon, Jesus had told his disciples to avoid repetitive prayers. (Matthew 6:7)

Rather, Jesus was teaching his followers how to pray and what to pray about. Let us see what we can learn from the model prayer.

“Our Father in the heavens”

We should address our prayers only to God himself.

“Let your name be sanctified”

God’s name, Jehovah, should be honored and viewed as sacred.

“Let your Kingdom come”

God’s Kingdom is a heavenly government with Jesus as King, and it will soon exercise its rule over the entire earth.

“Let your will take place, as in heaven, also on earth”

God’s will is for humans to live forever on earth in peace and security.

“Give us today our bread for this day”

Jehovah is the one who provides the things we need to live.

“Forgive us our debts”

We all make many mistakes and need forgiveness.

Keeping those points in mind can help you to offer meaningful personal prayers.

You can't spend the last 8 years telling us that Bubu's piss tastes like champagne, only for you to begin distancing yourself from your former praise and worship when Bubu decided to expose his stupidity for the whole world to see.

The Northern governors know that as stark illiterates, their people are gullible and easy control with misinformation, so they are still fighting for political relevance, especially because another Northerner in the form of Atiku is enjoying increasing support amongst the ordinary simple minded abokis.

The southern governors, especially the ones in the east on the other hand have adopted a siddon look attitude because truly, they know that the APC is not and can never be an Igbo party, so right now they are in political no man's land.
Meanwhile the ones in the South West are just waiting to see who will win the power tussle between Bubu and the Iragbiji bedwetter before they make their move.
