Crime / Re: Church Worker Jailed For Stealing Offering Since 2005 by isleman(m): 10:34am On Mar 01, 2012
Jemibee:

They should just free this man!! as in, i know it's BAD to steal but i just feel pity for him. He claims having worked for them since 2005 without earning a dime. Where did they think he was getting the money to feed, clothe and provide shelter for him and his family? The church authority is also to be blamed, POOR HIM!!

Do you know what it meant to be a worker in church? it is optional. nobody called, employed or forced him. He could have opted out to get a living. Besides, its not a full time work. he stayed because of the act he was committing regularly.

Imagine N45k. He pays himself well.

But the church could have just expelled him. Forgiveness is Christianity

i hope it is a joke.

if its true, then he betrayed education. You didn't go to school to do things conventionally, you must have learn to do conventional tings unconventionally at school.

he could have a stand under an umbrella or repack the bananas or just display his literacy. He is abusing his literacy this way.

Nairaland / General / Re: Lagosians Feel They Can Outsmart Everyone by isleman(m): 8:44am On Mar 01, 2012
IMO, Lagos is the heartbeat of Nigeria. whenever i want peace and some rest, i go outside Lagos. when i need to hustle and make money - na Lagos o!

Ever wonder why most musicians, actors/actresses and artistes in general live in Lagos? wonder why Timaya had to come to Lagos to brake even?

You don't have to be a crook to be smart in Lagos. its not about lying, stealing to be smart in Lagos. Lagos simply challenges you to be at your best to survive just like every other big cities.

Yes, you may not want to know anything else outside Lagos when they have little to offer but of course other place do exist and they offer something good enough for an average person. You gotta go to the big cities to get bigger.
Education / Re: Hnd Program In Nigeria Is A Scam! by isleman(m): 4:29pm On Feb 13, 2012
BSC or HND does not decide your height in life. what decides your height in life is your degree of commitment, hard work, dedication and strong desire to survive and succeed.

qualifications such as BSC, HND etc will matter to does who want remain an employee for the whole of their life and expect to get paid from what somebody or government established. if your goal is to be a job creator or entrepreneur, qualification wont matter to you. business minded people usually gun for business survival ideas and not paper qualification.

if the babe is truly his, he needn't go to that level to satisfy her. unless he has been keeping the girl through material things all the while.

girls, be watchful, weigh what a guy is giving you with what he is worth and can afford before collecting gift from him. you might just save a soul by refusing enticing gifts.

Programming / Re: Humour: Does This Realy Say's Truth Abt Programmers by isleman(m): 12:10pm On Feb 13, 2012
IMO, we have many good programmers but one thing missing in their lives is marketability; not being able to deliver their stuff to the right audience.

its one thing to be able to code, it another thing to be able to market your outputs. the successful ones are the ones that are able to sell their stuffs to the right people and they are the ones we hear of.

programmers should learn to team up with other people with other managerial skills to display and sell their stuffs.

i thought i was the only observing his reckless English. come to think of it, someone of his caliber should tune his English. he is wealthy enough to re-educate himself. we've seen illiterate fuji musicians re-educate themselves and become better speaker in public with English. ikpeba is better off and has no excuse. hos pronunciations are sooooooooooooooo bad.

he should pair up with dame Jonathan.
Education / Re: Us Firm Plans Robotics Teaching In Nigerian Schools by isleman(m): 11:52am On Feb 13, 2012
nasticy:

I think its a great idea.

I constructed and programmed a mobile robot as my final year project. I even got to teach some children from sunday school how to program the robot. The thing about robotics is its quite interdisciplinary and those who are not  passionate about it may never understand how much work it requires. Still EVERYONE likes the end result. ( I mean, who wouldnt want a robot in their house ?) Anyway, even if its for 6 weeks, think about the young minds that would literally be changed forever.

Its worth it, no matter how small. wink

its not bad idea, i have a blue print microchips which are used to control robots. i once tried to sell the ideas to schools so as to improve our so called blank intro-tech, but trust Niaja schools- since there wasn't quick money involved, the school owners discouraged it and after several struggles, i concluded that our system in not right for it. just my opinion.

sorry to say these guys but some of the problems some people are having can be dealt with, with a strong I.T department. Am surprised that in this modern age, people can chat, check facebook and browse at work.

All of these cant happen in my domain o!  someone even plays music out loud from his computer when you can implement domain policy to disable all play media and speakers. in such organizations where staff can do what they like including carry and use flash drives, they can very much copy company information home or sell to competitors.

i will like to work for a while for free in such organizations just to trim excesses of such people.

I think is high time we knew the charter and the core objectives of the IMF/World Bank wrt to Africa.

Am surprised you don't know this. IT IS THE GREATEST EVIL THAT HAS NOT BEEN UNFOLDED TO MANY PEOPLE. Just go and read about SAP(structural adjustment program) on the internet and you will know the Big sheet IBB put us into. We many never get out of it especially with wrong leadership.

Many Nigerians don't see the big picture. These bodies (IMF etc) and the evil people governing them have a greater agenda that the people they use i.e. iweala etc don't even know the plans them selves.

These IMF guys have a mega plan and they need unimaginable huge amount of money to achieve it. Some of their plans include funding alternative planet, weapons of mass destruction, space ship to other galaxies etc. all of which are big lies. read in between the lines, THEY ARE AGENTS OF DOOM, THEY PLAN TO END THIS WORLD. in their words, they want to get rid of people and leave only selcted people based on riches, intelligence etc.

please watch the movie called 2012, though just a movie, but read btw the lines. read more on new world order, Illuminati etc.

the more we can fight, the more we prevent or delay the devil from achieving his plans.

Education / Re: No Going Back On New LASU Tuition Fee – Fashola by isleman(m): 1:45pm On Nov 29, 2011
first of all, what is the cost of university education abroad. those people on NL that studies abroad should please compare to what LASU is asking, which is more expensive? people can afford to pay high cost abroad, now to pay quarter in LASU is now a crime.

Anything good comes with a price. In USA, parents save to send their children to college, its not cheap. if you go to college, you are like a king cos they know the cost. They use some of those money we foreigners take there to give their own children scholarships and rebates.

Our university here are made so cheap for everybody to afford and thereby making them substandard. No Nigerian university is ranked among the first 200 in the world. Shouldn't that give us a rethink?

basic education should be made free and compulsory. We shout graduates on the street without jobs, we never bother to ask what type of graduates? some graduates here would be beginners in some other UNIs abroad.

Study some stupid course at substandard Nigerian University and expect to get a good job. Fashola may be wrong, but something has to be done to improve standards of our schools
Culture / Re: Eyo Festival 2011. Calling All Happy Lagosians by isleman(m): 1:22pm On Nov 29, 2011
toba:

This so called eyo festival is BS of the highest order. from the early 80s to date, i have witnessed many eyo festival as a Lagosian myself and almost all havent been freed of violence and death each time the festival takes the centre stage. l returned to the country yesterday morning not knowing the BS blood sucking festival was to be held. from the ikeja airport, there was no sign of anything happening since the eyo thing was only an island thing and not extended to other local govt of Lagos. getting to the island at obalende, this touts in the name of eyo were harassing pple, stopping all commercial buses and charging money from them in the name of eyo. l almost used the car to hit one one them blocking my way. any commercial bus driver that failed to stop or give money, they used the stick to hit the side of their buses. they were forcing pple to pull of their shoes and anyone who doesnt, were hit with the stick. i left island and returned at about 7pm only to hear the expected, which is violence and death. one eyo was passing and another was also passing. one side refused to stop for the other and then it became free for all. bottles and matchetes flowed freely. more than 3 pple were killed with several others injured. its touts and area boys that mostly do this eyo thing and i stand to be corrected for more than 20 yrs of my witnessing this festival, just like the useless egungun festival, there must be violence and pple must surely loose their lives. l thought they all were to be at the TBS ystday, yet some animals were still parading the streets which eventually led to the violence. smh

You just said it all, the event is at TBS, those ones on the roadside are illegal and are miscreants. they should be arrested. if you said there was a fight at TBS and there was blood shed, i would have advised the festival banned.

Why do you think we run when we here gun shots, riots, or even ordinary fighting when we even know we are NOT the target? its because some nonentity and miscreants highjack the whole thing for their self extortion and stealing. it narrows down to better security in the country. That should never the less deny us doing what we ought to do.

there were announcement for transportation and logistics before the day for people who want to part take in the festival, perhaps coming into Lagos without prior knowledge made you run into those bulls.

apologies on behalf of the state.

One thing I've noticed about my Yoruba brothers is that they are cowards.

AWOLOWO. He was always waiting for someone to do something for him, typical of a Yoruba man. The 1966 coup was meant to swear him in as the new president. The coup failed, so he denied ever knowing of such a plot. He traded sides with Fulanis against the igbos during  the war, so that he could be installed as president after the war. Murtala's death gave him further hope of being a president, afterall, his kins man (OBASANJO) was the head of state. obasanjo did not hand over to him and that was the best chance he had at been a president before taking his life  outof frustration. ( he drank otapiapia)
Abiola.   Abioa wined and dined with the military. Obasanjo, Abacha, Babangida, Vatsa,  were all his friends. Abiola single handedly sponsored buhari and babangida's coup. Final preparations were made in his daughter's naming ceremony few weeks to the Babangida's coup. Like a typical yoruba man, he wanted things to be done for him(coward). unfortunately for him, his fulani friends betrayed him and he was  denied of his so called mandate and was locked in the prison like a common criminal. He was later poisoned by his fulani friends and nothing was done about it in the west. He died a church rat. His kinsmen collected bribes after his death from thesame fulani"friends". Do we need to talk about saro wiwa? The civil war has always been about the fulanis and their quest to rule Nigeria. You cannot take it away from them. Have you forgotten about Usman Dan Fodio? his life was all about a conquest and that"s what his generations are still doing. Nigeria to a Fulani man is a conquest.

you seem to be really hurt, what's your grieve? don't say thing you cant prove. just move on,
Politics / Re: Lower All Flag For Ojukwu And Declare A National Holiday by Musiwa by isleman(m): 12:41pm On Nov 29, 2011
I believe Ojukwu is a hero of some igbos. he stood by what he believed even though he failed, he tried. I have no offense over this. the war is over, even the state of Nigeria pardoned him after 12years in exile.

Ever since then, i dont think Ojukwu ever attempted the state of Biafra anymore. never the less, it wrong to bite the finger that is still feeding you. It will be wrong to carry a Nigerian passport, eat, breathe, live and make money in Nigeria and still ask for Biafra.

Those who strongly believe in Biafra should step up to it by totally abandoning anything associated with Nigeria and steadfast in their request for Biafra. Then, we shall know they are serious.

Otherwise thunder fire those who carry Nigerian Passport, Spend Nigeria currency and ask for Biafra and wish Nigeria evil.

when parents lose control of the family not only as a result of poor planning but also as a result of dispute, arguments, pride, guilt, blame shift, lack of foresight, lack of tolerance and share inability to shift ground for the other;

Did you say the children are on the receiving end? lets take a look. What happens to the children? poor or no education, low self esteem, hardship, Mal-nourishment, peer pressure, prostitution, robbery, slavery etc.

what about the society? such children who engage in robbery will end up robbing and killing someone else who has laid his/her own bed well and had spent all he/she had training his/her own children for greater tomorrow.

Prostitution? they end up spreading HIV/AIDS. So when parents go at logger head, we all we suffer it. There is no perfect partner or couple, we should make things work for each other once we've said "I DO" or found ourselves in the situation. Your errors has a great impact on the society and world at large.

When we see couples doing it wrong, let lend a hand if we can, otherwise, their failures our woes and that's where we lost it.

where is the ALUTA in our student unionism. In my days at school year 2000 to be precise, one of our student was killed right in from of our gate at about 9pm while entering the school by armed men on a bike.

we let Hell loose as we staged a serious protest the following day and held the entire Lagos still for more than 8 hours and it was on t.v and radio, worker couldn't go to work as we blocked Ikorodu road (both sides) with molue buses, we also blocked one end of third mainland bridge with highjacked busses and throw they keys into the lagoon and many other major roads. Other student from other schools also joined in the struggle and other people on the street who felt our pain. We made our demands straight.

we met Tinubu who was the governor then and since then, we had heavy police and military protection at our entry gates.

WHERE IS SUCH ALUTA NOW IN OUR STUDENT UNIONS? SUCH PROTEST SHOULD EMANATE FROM THE SCHOOLS!!!
