I still think North and south is good for a start. I don't really have problems with Igbos or SS, the beast in them was brought out by the northern oppressors. left alone, they are gentle people. they've been gentle since 1960.

I am from Edo state but own properties in Lagos,Abuja and Kaduna. Now tell me how such disinter=gration can make me happy? I pray and hope for speady solution to this new menace in the north.

As a business man, you should know better, business goes where it is invited. If multimillion dollars company like econet, vodafone, celtel have pack and leave Nigeria, yours shouldn't be a problem.

See from the writing on the wall and decide. Besides, secession shouldn't affect your properties.

from your posts, i suffice to say that u are not afraid of the SE/SS people, rather u are affraid of their ability to christainize the proposed 'southern Nigeria'! I guess u are a muslim and its understandable that you would not want to be in the minority. Hence, u decided to hide under the ethnic umbrella!

Am not afraid of anything or anybody and in as much as i am not against any religion, i am not a Muslim. Never had Christians want to Christianize any region or country. The strength of Christians lies in more and stronger churches.

I only believe the dispute among the south is caused by the Northern oppression and in attempt to hold on to power. If the south is left alone, we can find common grounds and besides we are not religion extremists.

If course if ant region feels inferior or unsatisfied, they may secede, as far as its peaceful.

I have spoken to many southerners and they really don not support south only secede as it would be very deadly in the south owing to what some big guns have in terms of money, ammunition, soldiers etc

are u suggesting that muslims are more than christians in the SW? if so, then u are not in touch with reality, cos christians out weigh muslims by far in the SW!

I don't have the figure, but when i take a random sample my ex-school mates and friends, i count 90% Muslims. maybe i and e a bad count but it seems there are more Muslims.

We also share some similarities with the North, heck! We even have our people in the North (ie Kwara and Kogi).

Bottomline is that there is no south and we don't have a common enemy! It is also worth noting that the north so far are only bombing themselves so why bother?

I agree with your view, but do we have to wait till they bomb other regions, it used to be Borno, now Abuja, news of similar threat in Lagos today, East etc. for how long shall we live in fear a terror.

Ever since the civil war, Igbos and Hausas had had scores to settle, other tribes amidst had been the mediator and prevention for another uproar. believe me you, that is the reason why we don't have an Igbo president - because the north believe they will take their pound of flesh back and they continuously suppress the east.

That is why i feel IMO that the fracas is between north and east mainly, others are just on queue. So separating into north and south should be fair if not wise.

How will dividing Nigeria stop the bombings if we can't stop it now?

There had been previous evidences, but resulting to bombing only shows how much north and south cant bear each other. It had never happened before at least not at this rate. Why now?

I love Nigeria, but i love peace and progress more. Bombing is the last thing i can bear, it brings unrest and retards progress.

It's not only the president, even on Nairaland here. I agree we often want to express ourselves the way we feel but only one thing prevents you from expressing yourself the way you feel without insulting which is the lack of appropriate word, English or vocab or on the contrary, it only shows our upbringing.

Please lets stop general abuses and make Nairaland a better place.

Me I no fit live with Okoro in another marriage of the South o. Make we all head to our tent o, ehen!

I believe the south still share a lot in common. Christianity joins east and west together and also with south. besides, if the south disintegrate further, it will become very weak to oppose any northern threat.

Sequel to the ongoing bombings in Nigeria which had never been in its history of existence, many had said it is politically motivated, some said its an attempt to derail and frustrate President Jonathan's Administration. Nevertheless, one thing remained constant, BOMBING.

Those who said Nigeria would disintegrate by 2015 get it very wrong and inaccurate as this might take place sooner than the said period at current spate of the bombings. How much bombing can Nigerians take?

In this spite IMO, GEJ has 4 options.

1. Just keep quiet as usual and allow the bombing to continue. When those whoever are behind get tired or run out of supply, they will probably stop (many more innocent lives would be lost).

2. React and take action - This will engage him for his whole tenure because of the likes and volume of people he might be confronting which will marvel him and at the end it all, he will be judged to have done nothing through out his tenure and endanger the chance of the South-South producing future president.

3. Resign - which i can bet my life on it that it will be over his dead body.

4. Separate Nigeria into North and South Peacefully- This is an unstoppable, looming event with clear evidences. He GEJ will be a hero if he does this peacefully. It will go down record as hardly had there been disintegration of a country without violence and blood-shed.

I have said it before and would say it again. Nigeria is an unwanted relationship that led to and unwanted marriage. I any marriage where one person is aiming the life of the other partner, the solution is called DIVORCE. this simple solution does its job without blood-shed.

Those who try to stop the disintegration cause it to happen. Make a random sampling. Many Nigerians want it but are either afraid to say it or diplomatic about it.

What is your opinion?
Politics / Re: Nigerian Sat X Satellite Pictures Are Perfect by isleman(m): 10:29am On Sep 02, 2011
Beaf:

I am shocked at this post. Why do some of you excel in putting Nigerians and blacks down?
Believe it or not, Nigerians like you and I built that satellite; because like every other race, the black man can. That fact has been proven by the crystal clear pictures the satellite has taken from outer space.

Our country is taking the right technological steps at last. The success of that satellite brings a tear to the eye and I am very proud to be a Nigerian.

@Beaf. You try o! its not easy being amongst, ? i really feel for my dear country Nigeria when i have people talk like this. If you don't know something, SIMPLY ASK, if you are not clear ask again, if you are still not clear, fold your arms and be quiet, in time the information will unravel to you or better still find out for yourself.

Even if Nigerians are not involved in the building the satellite and we paid for it and bought it, its still ours. If Saudi, Libya, Iraq, UAE had paid for such technology and are using it, people will say "these are oil nations like Nigeria, why cant Nigeria do same". We don't appreciate what we do. Many of us lack self and personal esteem.

The western world will stand by and defend whatever they do to prove it right even if very wrong. They can even go to the extent or brainwashing you to believe it's right and many of you over time will agree with them.

Beaf already mentioned some use of the satellite. Do you realize that for effective security, we need CCTV cameras all over the country, to retrieve information from these cameras, we either need a terrestrial means of transmission or satellite method. terrestrial is quite expensive due to landscape, so satellite is preferred though expensive at initial stage but cost effective on the long term.

The cameras can via internet send signals and information to the satellite which will in turn send the information to the station located anywhere. Though am not sure if this particular satellite can do this but, with time, our engineers will get it right and develop the one that can do that. It is a stepping stone the right direction. One satellite begets another.

Many of you might not know the benefit, but for those in the I.T world, its a butter they've been waiting for to put on their dry bread. i am personally trying to find out how i can subscribe to get information from this satellite so that i can quickly develop an application that can give information on Nigeria weather etc and those of you with black berry and i-phones will pay me to use it without knowing am using what you also have right and access to, to make money for myself.

please wise up, i guess many of you guys are not science/I.T oriented, thats why you feel its a waste of money.

Beaf abeg leave them. What make people rich is the amount of information at their disposal and their ability to use them right but when people refuse to see opportunity, they remain poor and earn a poor living doing regular jobs.

poverty starts with lack of vision and information. The western world are not better than you, they only see what you don't see. ever wonder why a suffering Chinese and Indian man comes to Nigeria and in a year leaves with millions of naira?

open up please.

Thank you for throwing that light jare, am supprised at the silly things some people are saying. Is it that am too old or these people are just too young to remember or know these things.

1. This law was introduce and promulgated by the Gen. Abacha regime in 1992/93 as an aftermath of the failed banks introduced by the Babanagida administration and other subsequent frauds arising then

2. Ghana-must-go as some said was a make-shift bag made for repatriating millions of Ghanaian accommodated by the Shagari regime in 1983 by the Buhari/Idiagbon regime in 1985/86.

Definitely many nairalanders a kids, no wonder they talk trash.
Family / Re: My Two Children & Their Habits: by isleman(m): 11:55am On Aug 30, 2011
I don't really think its something to be afraid of. The two of them are very sensitive and easily get hyped when doing nothing. try the following.

1. get them engaged regularly e.g watch lengthy cartoon
2. cut the girl's hair (someone rightly suggested)
3. change their environment regularly.
4. caution them

This happens to people and even dogs but the degree vary. while some can control it, some cant. The situation is that the girl gets bored easily and she unconsciously gets on her hair. The boy is hyper sensitive and restless, you need to engage him a lot and divert his energy to something positive.

try engaging the girl in a talk on something of her interest once you notice. If she responds positively, she got bored of herself probably doing nothing, if she doesn't, she is bored of her environment. Take her for a short walk.

take them both out regularly, they will see things that will catch their attention and would have less time to do those things.

its a gradual control, prevent them from getting to that state that they react.
Politics / Re: Is Gadaffi Better Than Our Past And Present Set Of Leaders? by isleman(m): 9:44am On Aug 24, 2011
@hajifaty. I think its wrong of you to condemn and insult people because they differ in your opinion. Like you rightly said, we are here to educate ourselves and also air our views and opinion. Attack like yours sometimes make me dislike Nairaland.

Yes Nigerian politicians are corrupt, is Gaddafi any better? I wouldn't compare anybody, before comparing any two factors, they must both be equal by terms and definition. Gaddafi was never in any Nigerian leader's position and in charge of Nigeria and neither did any Nigerian Leader in Gaddafi's position to rule Libyans.

I tell you that OBAMA cannot rule any country in Africa successfully. People and the governed is also a key factor when talking about leadership.

My greatest regret is the way Gaddafi is ending the whole thing and will eventually allow the western sponsored rebels win at the end of it all.

He should had quietly stepped down and hand over to someone he can control.

I grow nails on my two little fingers and that is because i spend lots of time on the computer with the nature of my job. It helps me use my little finger effectively during typing.

I could reach any key on the keyboard easily with my little finger when i have to use them and when they have long nails on them. Without long nails on the little finger, the are mostly useless for typing.

imagine when you have have reports to submit everyday and two fingers are out of the job out of 10, it reduces productivity. Especially when you have to hold down one key and press another same time. long nails help better reach at far keys. For me it helps my productivity.

When not typing, it also act like a tool to punch, scrape, pick tiny objects etc

Looking at it from the angle of trying to even sharia, it may seem reasonable but there is no point in it.

Christianity does not enforce or judge, that is government duty. Christianity simply preaches the gospel AND THAT IS ALL. Christianity is not politics, government or anything besides acknowledging GOD. whoever wants to drag anyone to court should do so in the high court to supreme court.

Please leave Christians out of this. I can settle scores without dragging my religion into it.
