Flets:
Nigerians have started reaping the fruit of their decision. When Nigerians were being fed propaganda from the stables of APC and without supporting the then govt........ they forgot that Nigeria is a wrongly structured country.

If only Nigerians stood behind GEJ on terrorism and against these oil marketers. ... it would have been a different story today.

Unfortunately the Nigerdelta is keen on reciprocating the same unsupportive gesture to Buhari like the north did to GEJ.

Gas pipelines have been exploding in the ND and power generation has dropped from 4000+MW to 1300MW..... who suffers the scarcity?

Just for fall in crude prices, salaries cannot be paid. If the crude pipelines start exploding. .. then shall the reality hit Nigerians.

Because of the APC noise on the incoming government, oil marketers have refused import of products for fear of uncertainty by incoming govt....... who suffers the scarcity?

Investors have withdrawn their capital for fear of uncertainty in the incoming govt and driven by the APC noise post election further driving up exchange rates..... guess who suffers increase in price of goods?

Heating up the polity like APC does not help either Nigerians nor the incoming govt. The creek is warming up...... thanks to the noise from the incoming government.

As a matter of urgency, APC must stop the noise and Buhari desperately needs to stop acting like he's bringing a war to the outgoing govt.

Unfortunately the future looks bleak but Nigerians were warned anyway. Only regional system of government can save Nigeria otherwise watch Nigeria crumble before our very eyes.

just listen to yourself! who now is the the real terrorist? the people destroying pipelines because their oga didn't win election or people who voted for change legitimately through ballot?

let the worst happen, we are poised and ready for change. in fact we want to start from ground zero. please remember to tell GEJ to bomb Aso rock to before he leaves.

so you have to hold us to ransom to vote you and you call that the right thing.

you have fed yourself with internet garbage and you are far from the truth and reality of events.

when will our elites do something about this nation? the thugs and drop outs are richer than the educated and they are finding their ways to power to political god-fathers. they are rubbishing anything that is common sense. i no time, all our years of education will be a waste.

wrong doings are more celebrated now in Nigeria than good deeds. in fact, you have to be careful to say or do what is right. else, you might be attacked.

do we want stomach infrastructure too or proper infrastructure?
Politics / The Nigerian Elites Are Losing And Will Lose Totally. by isleman(m): 12:25pm On Sep 24, 2014
We all have been observing the political trend in this country and we all see what is going on. We see rallies everyday and mass of people who follow politicians around.

The elite know better. They will never be fooled and rally any politician. No! you will never see them at such rallies. They watch from T.V. read form newspapers or read from the internet.

The Elite are simply in a class of their own. They don't care about government programs and activities because they've lost hope in politicians and their parties. They are waiting to see a good candidate emerge from one party first then they can scrutinize the candidate to see if he is worth their vote.

Of course, the elite wont vote anyhow. They think it through before they vote and in many cases where they see no candidate of the choice, they don't vote. You even hear some of them quote a lengthy year since they last vote.

That is where am going. Because these elite are hardly feeling the economic hardship like the ordinary man on the street, they care less about governance and who is governing. They have turned to social commentators on the governance and elections in their own country. They have become and ordinary keyboard warrior. They fight for their rights with their keyboard. They flood the internet with their articles and anger. But will that change anything?

While the these elite sit back and watch event unfold, the average, okada rider, pepper seller, mechanic and those people they command and oppress daily are actively taking part in politics because the feel the economic hardship more. Not necessarily contesting political posts but taking an active role in who leads us all.

As they come out en mass at rallies, is the same way the come out and vote. We all see them decide in Ekiti state. They decided who leads Ekiti for the next four years.

They say they want stomach infrastructure as against social infrastructure. Is it not common sense that social infrastructure is what will make the economy better and give us all the avenue where we can all prevail and succeed in our various endeavours?

But the these elite allow them decide! while you are criticizing and scrutinizing who you cast you valuable vote for. They have collected five hundred Naira or Garri or kerosine and voted for that same man you are rejecting and that man will win and rule over all of us.

The elite need to do something. Don't be too strict with your vote. A fool's vote will count as equal as your carefully cast vote. so far the fool is 18 years of age and above. Its your vote against theirs. else they decide who rules you.

All what we studied for. The rule of law we believed in. The social equality we preached for. The enabling society we craved for would be trashed if we allow non elites to decide for us all.

Lets do something! GO OUT AND VOTE!!! if you don't see a candidate of your choice, come together and sponsor one.

Don't allow those who didn't go to school mock you and rubbish all your years of education. its their vote against yours. Go out and cast it. leave the vote you have cast for the party and candidate to defend.

YOU ARE LOSING THE BATTLE AND WILL LOSE TOTALLY.
Culture / Re: The Plight Of The Northern Child by isleman(m): 12:16pm On Sep 24, 2014
perhaps you are not aware that every state governor gets a federal allocation (money) from the federal government every month to provide all those basic things you lack?

kindly ask your current governor and his predecessors what they have done with the allocations for your state since it all started then you will appreciate governors of those cities you see on T.V for using their monies judiciously on their people and infrastructure. and then, you will know who is to blame for your problems.

you aggression towards other people apart from your tribe and your die hard believe in your manipulated islam cannot be excluded from part of your problems. you and your tribesmen had slain innocent investors out of hatred and religious intolerance. the people who would have helped build your community with investment and provide you gainful employment had all been slain cold blooded. so i guess rip what you sow. you join terrorists at your own risk

Politics / What Every Nigerian Needs To Do To Rebuild Nigeria's Name And Image by isleman(m): 9:42am On Dec 12, 2013
It is not new that the great name Nigeria is no longer respected anywhere in the world. Often times crimes are usually connected with Nigerians even when we know nothing about it. How did the disrespect started? who is responsible for it? how do we get out of the mess?

You will be surprised that the cause of the degradation of the name Nigeria is not the government alone as many of you will think. For many of us who had traveled abroad will agree with me that the country they visited is not made great by the government but by the people of the place. While i wont spare the government for not spearheading some action especially against corruption, i am sorry to tell you the problem is with we Nigerians ourselves. After all, the people in government are Nigerians and given the chance to any other Nigeria, they will probably do the same.

In the last few year, i have personally tried to gather information about the wrongs in our society and its possible cause and solution. In my course of study, i have found out a lot of problems that if i start to list them here, i will bore you as one problem leads to another. At the apex of these problems, i realized we suffer from 2 basic problems and if we can tackle these problems ourselves, Nigeria will experience a great turn around in fact before 2014.

1. LAWLESSNESS
i have come to realize that it is only in Nigeria that we make law and we hate to obey it. lets set the government aside, even within a household, parents make laws and children fail to follow and give excuses. lets take a critical look around us. In our offices, schools, churches or mosques or any gathering around us. Lets take an office for example. you are employed to work from 8am to 4pm and observe a 1hour break from 12pm to 1pm. I realize up to 70% or staff in most private and government work place hardly observe or respect this rule. staff make every attempt to cheat the company of this official hours either by arriving late and have someone sign or clock for them or leave before closing time or perhaps spend more than the normal hours during break and yet they expect to be fully paid at the end of the month. This kind of attitude is not tolerated in the western world as you will be fired in no time. But here in Nigeria, people do that and expect nothing to happen.

Another example is a case of traffic light and traffic disorderliness. The longest red light i have observed on the streets of Lagos and i assume anywhere else is 180 seconds which is 3 minutes yet motorist including private car owners find this time too long to wait. They either ignore or disobey the traffic light or try to maneuver to avoid stopping. Is 3mins to much to wait?

lets us all reflect in our daily lives and check ourselves, we will realize we have been lawless in one way or the other. Though we try to make excuses for our actions but the result is where we are today.

2 OPPRESSION
This is the biggest of all our problems. We love to oppress ourselves.
* Everybody including jobless students wants to use the latest phone, why? because they don't want to be looked down upon (oppressed).
* Every girl wants to date the richest guy around, why? so as to meet up with social standards and other girls (so as to oppress others).
* Everybody wants to work in a multinational company, why? you will be looked down on if you work elsewhere.
* Why are cleaners, mechanics, messengers, bus drivers looked down on? whereas our people spends lots of money to travel abroad to do these dirty jobs and nobody over there looks down on them.
* Why do we look down on low income earner? because we consider them illiterates? which is not always true.
* Why do we disrespect one another? so as to gain respect?
* Why must you ride a jeep or expensive cars? so that others will be respected and not called a criminal? or so that when you collide with a less expensive car, you will automatically be adjudged right? (oppression of the highest order)
* Why is inequality encouraged in our society? to oppress others of course!
* When did going abroad become a criteria to be rich or respected? its all to oppress in some cases.

I come to realize most crimes committed in Nigeria is with an intention to oppress. Why would politicians steal billions of our money if its just eat, wear and live in a house? why would someone steal money to but bullet proof BMW, or to buy latest stuff? no other reason but to oppress. In every of daily lives, we strive for no other reason than to oppress our friends, neighbors and colleagues.

if only we can follow some basic rules, Nigeria should turn around in no time

1. Queue up and wait for your turn in public places
2. Don't try to beat any system, its the back bone of lawlessness
3. Be honest to yourself, then you can be honest to others
4. Always keep calm. don't be in a hurry as it leads to aggression and leads to lawlessness in public places.
5. Obey simple laws.
6. try to correct 2 out of every 10 wrong doings you observe and do it politely if you want to make impact
7. Don't join the madness. the fact that others are doing it doesn't mean you should do it. if you cant beat them, join them or better isolate yourself.
8. Man shall not live by bread alone. You may steal to buy latest stuff. am sure next year there would be another version. Nokia 3310 was the latest sometime ago. You can never get the latest or the best in life...... all is vanity!!
9. Money can not solve your problems. this is the greatest truth of life. many people run around chasing money to solve their heavy bills and problems. but alas, only rest of mind from God can solve your problems. do things the right way and Godly way and you will realize you shouldn't be in that money demanding situation in the first place.
10. Who God has blessed, no man can curse. so, why do you steal, embezzle, defraud and cheat? ill gotten wealth comes with a curse. the more of the ill gotten wealth, the more curse you acquire. Politicians will tell you what burns them underneath.

Lets work together for change. please feel free to make your own contributions. all we need is change, but avoid derailing the topic

we all claim the standard of education is falling in Nigeria. why wont it fall? when the intelligent and the good ones with the distinctions will not teach and train younger ones and leave vacancy for quacks and those with pass or drop-outs to teach their children after paying heavy school fees from the money gotten from their dream oil firm and multinational jobs.

The op is right, that's how i climbed the ladder. a parent and friend in the school i teach discovered and admired my intelligence and took me into a multinational company he works for. i was not even interviewed, i only sent my cv and got a job offer.

Politics / Re: Ex-PHCN Worker Spends N5.5m Gratuity On Jeep by isleman(m): 12:05pm On Oct 29, 2013
i have read before but failed to agree and now agree that some people are destined to be poor and you cannot remove poverty from some people. if everybody is rich, there would be no word called 'poor'.

imagine a men spending his over 20years of sweat on material things. imagine what this man will do if he is a minister in Nigeria? Nigerians are not really poor, they only misplace their priority. i can assure he wants to oppress with that jeep or use to carry one woman he has been targeting.

am beginning to have little or no pity for poor people as i believe they often are the architect of their own poverty.

i remember during my NYSC. a man gave birth to his 42nd child and all he does for a living is sell sugarcane; and such man will complain that Nigeria is not good and government is bad. Tell me how poverty will not manifest in his family.

Like one of the rich men of this world said... 'i agree its not easy to be rich but very easy to be poor. the lazy ones chose the easy ways and they get what they deserve'.

Nairaland / General / Re: Open Letter To National Conference Committee by isleman(m): 9:29am On Oct 11, 2013
i beg to know if there are other better ways.
Nairaland / General / Open Letter To National Conference Committee by isleman(m): 1:52pm On Oct 10, 2013
Immediately the president on independence day announced readiness and interest in National Conference, it has immediately started generating heat form all corners of the federation. The most paramount question from all is 1. who is the rightful representative of the people? 2. where will the people meet? 3. how wont this great opportunity be hijacked by politicians and thereby the country goes back to square one?

Even though many has criticized the president on the timing, no one has condemned the necessity of the National Dialogue. As i quite agree with the president, i consider this an opportunity for all Nigerians to speak out. Those who exercise fear over the timing and members of the committee and representative of the people are only worrisome of the success of the event and thus that of the country. Truly the success of the National dialogue lies in the hands of the committee handling it and the presidency to implement it after the dialogue.

Firstly i want to clarify that Nigeria is mapped and recognized constitutionally politically. Either by state boundaries, LGAs, constituencies wards and if you like streets (though some of this mappings are tribal based but is not pronounced in representation at national level). One of the lack of success of Nigeria as a whole is failure to recognize Nigeria and Nigerians beyond this structure. Nigeria consists of many tribes and that is our greatest point of division but if harnessed properly is our greatest strength.

It will be unreasonable for the National Conference committee to call for representatives from this political structure to represent the people as that is what we already have in the National Assembly and yet people are not satisfied. It will be wise and very reasonable if Nigerians are also recognized along their tribes which is our strong hold and also along their profession since political decisions affect a lot of professions and occupations and since there are several professional bodies in Nigeria. Every time there is a riot or chaos some where, it usually has a tribal undertone. Every time, Northern Muslims riot against others, they don't spare even Muslims of other tribes. Even here on Nairaland, tribalism is crystal clear in every discussion. Now, rather that see it as a problem, why don't we harness it?

Professions and professional bodies cannot be exempted form problems of this country. Example is the ASUU strike, Labour strike, Aviation Industry problems (plane crashes), Doctors strike, even students unrest and many more. Therefore professional bodies should be given opportunity to participate in the National Conference as well. In Nigeria of today, almost every occupation has a union or body. Even traders, mechanics, barbers, Actors and Actresses, Musicians and all manners of business people have one common body or the other. This is a good means to reach these people who form part of Nigeria. The representation of professional bodies are usually not a problem as they have their leadership in persons of their president, secretary etc. They also usually have a national and state secretariats where they meet or can be met. therefore, they can easily communicate with their members to air their views and stands on the National Conference.

Having recognized Nigerians along their Political, Tribal and professional divides, this should be my suggested mode of operation of the national Conference;

1. Let every tribe gather where ever they wish in their region. Traditional rulers are best leader of any tribe. Let every tribe gather at the palace of their traditional ruler and discuss their National Conference there. Since the speak the same language, communication wouldn't be difficult. They may also share the same feeling and opinion about Nigeria. After the meeting, they can read a communique and points they have raised to the hearing of everybody there and perhaps hand a copy to members present and then forward a copy to the national conference committee.

2. Professional bodies should meet with their leaders at their secretariats to discuss the same matter and come out with their own communique as well. copies should be given to members and original forwarded to the National Conference Committee either by mail or by had delivery.

3. The National Conference committee should collate all submitted communique and publish them perhaps on their website so that ever group, tribe and organization that has submitted a communique can compare what they have in their hand to what the National Conference committee publishes to be sure the original copy and content was received as they discussed it and also to be able to read what other tribe, body and professions are saying.

4. The National Conference committee then collate and filter the communiques. Though there would be millions all together, but after filtering, you will realize a lot of similarities in the demand and stand point of the people and you will probably be left with just one hundred points.

With this you have saved time and money and every Nigerian will feel they've represented themselves and truly you would have gathered information across Nigeria with ease.

My submission is that what brought us together as a nation since 1914, 1960, 1966, 1999 and till date has NOT been the same. Our unity has been and is still being questioned everyday and therefore, there is need to review our course and cause of unity every time and therefore, National Conference should be made to law and should be organized every 7years or any time frame considered good to check and ratify our common interest to co-exist as a nation and ratify matters before they get out of hands. if this were the case, we wouldn't be having insurgencies, as people would wait for the next national conference to voice out and since they would be heard and their case looked into, there wouldn't be need to carry arms.

The National Assembly is just a political representation of the people. Nigeria is joined together beyond politically. As said, we are joined together also by tribe and Profession. A true National Assembly should not have two tiers of common structure and composite members but rather 3 tiers of Political, Tribal and professional (federal govt doesn't need to be responsible for the up keep of the 3 tiers as their members should cater for them and thus will be the only way they would be loyal to their people and their voice should count as part of National Assembly and Nation building). The meeting of all the 3 tiers once in 7years should be the NATIONAL CONFERENCE.

If we can get it right, we will be a role model for the world and we will be the most stable country politically as we will be constantly consulting with all the people that matters and issues will never escalate.

Our greatest strength in our Unity. United we stand, divided we fall. We will be most mocked if we go one another's way. Smaller African countries can now look us in the face in our broken state and till then shall we value out togetherness. Lets correct the wrong rather than split the house.

Long live Nigeria.

i think the govt is getting it wrong. First of all, most of the people on this list are pastors, politicians and business men who one way or the other do business with government. where do they get their monies from?

1. Pastors get their monies from church members (which includes politicians and govt officials that steal monies from govt)

2. Politicians get monies from govt

3. Business men get monies from the people and some govt approved contracts

so either way, govt will be the ones paying for those taxes indirectly. these people will only task their sources more to meet the demands. They will use govt monies to pay govt. so who be fool? govt should tackle corruption and see if some of those churches will exist anymore at all. nobody who earns his money genuinely with his sweat can make such huge donations in churches.

As a graphic designer, web designer or what ever profession you are, you will always have this kind of provocative questions from lame clients in as much as you are still operating as one man business.

To save you from these headaches, work more as a corporate entity(you don't necessarily need to have big office to be corporate). Just operate corporately. For example;

1. have a website that says all about you - direct all clients that ask too much questions about your business or want to know what you can do to your business website. this will save you a lot explanation especially to a lame clients

2. Let your website tell the price - this ensures you are just as well and you are not over charging or charging per appearance. It proves you have a fixed price. You may negotiate from there if you like

3. State out details of your work and procedure before you start the work for a client - state all you will do, and all the client needs to do before you start the work. that will prevent you from..."i said you should do this and you didn't.... why didn't you do this and that?" once every thing is cleared before you start, no argument on completion.

4. State all your agreements on paper - This is in continuation of 3 above. once you have an agreement, put them all down and both party signs to it. should the matter lead to police or court case, you have an evidence of agreement on what you agreed to do.

5. Collect part payment before you start - failure to do so means you are desperate for a job. once a clients notices that, they play you

6. do what is expected of you - Always ensure you do you part as expected and perhaps beyond expectation. It sells you

7. release soft copy if required. you may charge for it. what are you hiding? if the client demands a soft copy, release it! abi you copy and paste?

8. Issue receipts, unpaid invoices and paid invoice for evidence of business transaction. it gives clients respect for your business and they complain less (please avoid mistakes in your invoices and receipts- it tarnishes your business image big time).

9. Accept correction and criticism - the customer is always right

10. pay your taxes - its helps you get bigger jobs. (you can flaunt it) some jobs required evidence of tax clearance.

Unfortunately the north is running itself to extinction. The first point of scare was the introduction of Sharia law. Before that law, Zamfara was just like any other northern city bubbling with activities and not scarce of other ethnic group. Immediately the law was introduced and enforcement started, lots of people especially non indigenes fled due to fear of massacre.

They wanted to be Islamic and wanted an Islamic state, but they forget that Islam like every other religion its in our heart and in practice and not even all indigenes are truly Islamic themselves. Now, with the BH issue causing the northern desertification by other indegens, Zamafara is even further hit with more loss of even its own indegens.

Youth Corpers don't want to go there, no one wants to go there. Business activity is paralyzing. its becoming a desolate land. People are avoiding the place. Now, this is what extremism cause, we should learn to accommodate others and learn to leave in peace. I city that once bubbled, is now becoming a desert. How will their girls get men? when everything they built is crumbling one over the other.

Also, lets know that business goes where it is invited. if the governor builds another market and asks the traders to move there, will they move?
since there is already a market there, let it be developed to standard.

Lagos had tried to move computer village in Ikeja for ages. its been very difficult. its hard to create or move a market. something ignites a market and if those things are not there, there would be no market. TINAPA is an example. why is it functioning as expected? Nigerians should learn to embrace development.

Let me first start by telling you the bible you see is a book of account by people. some by evidence, some God spoke to them and some are eye witnesses. The bible does not contain everything you need to know, but contains all you need to know to be a christian.

When God said, let us create man in our own image. He was referring to the heavenly hierarchies. Don't forget their are 9 cadres and hierarchy in heaven in which God is at the center - According to 'Dionysius the Areopagite'. (the bible is not explicit about that but do make references at times that assumes or reflect thus. such reference includes the question you have raised.).

Secondly, Adam and Eve do have children other than Cane and Abel. They weren't too relevant and thus were not mentioned in the bible. infact, Eve was said to have several twice after Cane and Abel which Cane married from.

It is important to seek knowledge as one will be a fool arguing or fighting on hear-say. I will teach more if asked. Many pastors you see around only read the bible thus have little knowledge about God. Reading the bible is good enough to be a good christian, but if you want to know about God, you need to read more than the bible or Quoran. You need to read far and wide. There are other books besides holy books that you need to read to know about God. Some are even condemned by some religious scholars but they bear some sacred truth about a lot of truth about God and life in general.

mr_born_todo_it:
The deportation and babaoloja saga has made the igbo community believe that there is tribalism brewing in Lagos and some of our yoruba brothers and sisters on nairaland are bitter about igbos, people nursing these sick thoughts don't even think before they type.
Imagine if the deceased was your spouse?will you cry and forget it so that murderers will roam freely in lastma uniforms? If those lastma officials should go scot free then the LSG will be guilty of the aftermath .

please be objective. the story is sad on its own, dont make it worse. was the vehicle towed because it is owned by an igbo man?
