PoliticsRe: Tinubu Calls For Sovereign National Conference by isleman(m): 3:02pm On Nov 25, 2011
ndu_chucks:
The only way I'd support a so-called national conference is if the participants in such a conference do not include a single former or current politician, including Tinubu.  They want to share the rest of the country among themselves. all of dem be onye ara.
http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/news-update/27491-tinubu-calls-for-sovereign-national-conference.html
IMO if we want a quick change in Nigeria SNC is the answer, lets trash it all out once and for all. Politicians may be corrupt but they have insight knowledge about Nigeria better than you and I. they've been there and they know the loop holes.

SNC of my type should involve all stake holders, politicians, perm secs, high kings, chiefs and emirs, labour leaders, leaders and reps from all national associations including students.

everyone of us have tasted the bitterness, we know what we want addressed.

the fundamental mistake made by Lugard and colonial maters still affects us today. In any constitution, there is a page for solemnization, that is declaring the intention of the people to come together. In Nigeria, we never declared or called ourselves to live together, we were forced together. therefore, there is no solemnization in Nigerian Constitution because we never agreed to come together.

These are the terms and conditions to be discussed at SNC and that still remain our basic problems. At the SNC, we shall be able to discuss system of government good for us, modes and method of leadership and rotation etc.

I think all antivirus do a reasonable job, you will only have calamities if you've been depending on trial versions.

ESET NOD32 is the best i've ever used.

give it a try. Its not available online, you will need to buy from their agents in Nigeria. A friend of mine is an agent, if you don't mind.
FamilyRe: by isleman(m): 10:12am On Nov 07, 2011
let me make a point clear here, women generally talk, its in their nature. Men are not gifted talkers. Women need to study the mood of their spouse and know when to chat him.

Personally, i don't like chatting in public places, especially long or loud chats. I will talk as short as possible on any conversation. I use to have that problem with my aunt as she cant just stop talking (commenting) and most of her talks are "question asking talks", invariably i will be answering questions like am being interrogated by police so am always forming asleep or reading when am with her in a public place. Imagine if she were to be my wife, we will hardly get along.

women just need to know men talk less and should know when to start a chat. men do more talks i their head.

The man who came from a trip and couldn't say hi his wife and family is just something else, perhaps he had a bad day. He shouldn't transfer his aggression to his wife (if she is his wife).

I am getting used to it. I will strongly advise she speaks her native language, she will be more respected that way.

what an irony, husband a phd (Dr.) and wife, a blunder. GEJ should tutor her himself or she should just be like Turai Yaradua and keep mute.

Little wonder why NL is full junky comments. Children of computer age!

there was no computer while i was growing up, wasn't even common while i was in Higher Institution. Scarcely would you even find a coloured T.V. The few games available were intellect games on paper like puzzles, X and O etc

computer games?? perfect explanation for Mass WAEC, NECO failure.

No offense sha o! i play soccer on PS2 now.
SportsRe: Our Managers Didn’t Understand The Rules – Yobo by isleman(m): 4:13pm On Oct 10, 2011
I put all the blame on siasia;

1. he was too harsh (over discipline)

2. Too disciplined he didnt use the best goal keeper.

3. had hamed Musa and Ike Uche and kept them on bench till second half

4. Asking the team to press for a third goal which was evident as all went on attack

5. removing joel obi for mike obi was the greatest mistake that led the second goal.

He should be fired or relegate to under 21
PoliticsRe: Between Yorubas And Ghanaians: What Is The Problem? by isleman(m): 3:29pm On Oct 10, 2011
alj_harem:
There is no problem between Ghanains and Nigeria, no to talk of yorubas

Now yorubas are called anago or nago people but it is only in Nigeria they are known as yorubas there actual Name in Africa is anago.

Yorubas have been Migrating to accra since the early 1900s and the ghanas too have been migrating to SW nigeria since the early 1900. In fact Ghanas have a high population in states like Ondo, lagos, ogun and Oyo .

Yorubas have a very high population in Ghana as well Infact the highest in Ghana after Ghanaians themselves.

This to me indicate Ghanaians have no problem with Nigerians. Although they call any Nigerian anago which to them they use it to them means Nigerians but really it means Yoruba people which shows the influence of yoruba culture in ghana

also Yorubas learnt ayamase sauce and bean/garri from ghanaians.

There is no problem useless you want to create one since you are neither yoruba or ghanian.
Point of corrections and assertion

1. Yorubas migrating from accra = correct

2. Ghanaians migrating to SW = correct

3. Yorubas called anago = very wrong

Anago is a tribe between kwara and tapa people (Niger state). If anybody refers to Yorubas as Anago, it is incorrect, perhaps you meant AWORI which are even some Lagosians and not yorubas in general. Anago is tribe which is partly yoruba and partly tapa. I have them as neigbours.

Cheers!

Sentimental - Not illegal and not breaking any labour laws
Do they have a thought of what is going to happen if they are unable to agree on terms and the contract expires? if they do, this wouldn't be happening. i agree, big businesses employ great management techniques, but where is their social responsibility to this country if they don't care about 3000 indirect workers loosing their jobs in one day.

Its better to offend 2 good persons than to offend 1 bad person. they didn't break any labour laws but broke many other things.

I cant see what Airtel has done wrong.
what AIRTEL has done wrong is ;

1. Humans are involved, they toyed with them
2. They should make their negotiations prior to expiration.
3. They disregarded all involved.
4. Nigerians are involved
5. They should be more responsible.

Banks and oil companies also outsource, but we never heard any complains because they do their things right.

PoliticsRe: FG To Monitor Phone Calls Of Nigerians by isleman(m): 10:31am On Oct 07, 2011
I really don't understand why this law didn't come 10years ago when mobile phone was introduced. those who know the way out simply played on government's intelligence.

I cant imagine propel committing crime including bombing and they converse on phone and they couldn't be caught. in the U.S there are over 400 sacred words which when mentioned over the phone the system kicks and begins to record the conversation (FBI). Such words includes "bomb", "Allah", "kill", "blast", "bury", "rob" etc (you may watch enemy of state by will smith).

I don't know why a common man is afraid of this move, there are over 30million phone lines in Nigeria and a common man's conversation is the last that could attract interest unless you mention sacred words(who is interested in the rubbish, dirty conversation).

This bill should be passed immediately, all my hands and feet are in.

(dont get me wrong. Anyone who has coded Java using NetBeans
BINGO!!! thats it. you have to code with some kind of IDE. never can develop your script from scratch to finish unlike php. with PHP you do all you coding yourself, you don't need any IDE, you can write the code on a notepad. no need to download anything to help you in coding which is characterized of java and most Microsoft programs (you are not fully independent. you depend on some sort of IDE or platform to code on)
ProgrammingRe: Java Vs PHP: Which Has The Brightest Future? by isleman(m): 10:03am On Oct 07, 2011
@poster, i think you should be comparing php with ASP, nevertheless, back to your question. IMO PHP has a brighter future for several reasons. The main reason is that it has a smooth learning curve. you can start learning php today and grab something at the end of the day unlike some Microsoft programs.

Java is good in its own way, but you know its an OOP while php is flexible. I will advise you to go for PHP. it also has very good and easily accessible inbuilt functions which you can read more about from their manuals at www.php.net

don't get confused by oppressors on the post that want to show off. just stay focused, know your goals and areas you want to improve on and get the right tools or scripting language for it.

best of luck
CareerRe: Airtel Did Not Sack Workers. Their Side Of The Story ! by isleman(m): 9:20am On Oct 07, 2011
@ Poster, you cant take sides in your own post. its obvious you have. Your explanation makes sense but nevertheless, in as much as Airtel's name is dragged to the mud, Airtel has to do something about it.

Contracts are negotiated before it expires in order to avoid these situations.

Those people either contracted or not indirectly work for Airtel or can we call them GLO staff? Airtel has to live up to their social responsibility and also save jobs not give excuses for their inabilities.

All these contracted jobs is an attempt to defraud and deny staff of their benefits. Now Airtel is claiming innocent.

haven you read some posts that upsets you not because it doesn't go with your view but because the poster sound senseless and childish? besides that, people using F-words to abuse and some even abuse before making their own comments.

Yes, anyone can be anywhere, we don't wanna know!!! that doesn't even bother me much like the rains of abuse, insults, unwise and unfriendly posts.

Your observation simply supports the view that Nairaland is a microcosm of Nigerian society and nothing more.
From the unreconstructed troll, to the ethnic jingoist, to the religious fundie, to the sycophantic political jobber, to the secessionist as well as your purveyour of crass music, NL's got them all grin
My guess is some of those you regard as kids are actually adults whose mental development has been severely impacted by Nigeria's slow (or uneven) growth. angry

I do not discount the concerns you've raised completely.
But I think the solution you want may lie in creating a new Forum, where the mods enforce a higher standard.

we didn't ask them, why tell us? who hasn't traveled before? its a major Nigeria mentality that make people do evil things to be counted (oppression).

I don't have to flaunt what i have done as i don't expect to be the only one to had done it. but when people begin to flaunt over it even when un-necessary, only those who want to oppress flaunt such.

I only ask for everybody's location be revealed which is achievable with today's technology along with their username, so that all that cheap lies can be cleared and we can move on with the thread at hand.

i'd never felt inferior over anything, no matter what.
