CrimeOluwaseun Adenubi Steals UK Woman's Identity To Live On Social Security (Pics) by Islie(op): 2:05pm On Aug 11, 2015
Another Nigerian woman has been caught in a web of identity fraud in UK.

A 30-year-old Nigerian woman, Oluwaseun Adenubi, has been arrested by the UK authorities after it was discovered that she stole an identity belonging to another Nigerian-British born woman so as to have her needs and those of her baby, taken care of by that country's tax payers, reports Daily Mail.

Adenubi who posed as Rita Ogunkunle, is reported to have stolen the identity to obtain free NHS medical care during the delivery of her son Moses, and got £3,500 in the process.

She is also said to be living east London suburb and is receiving £9,000 in state handouts.

It is also alleged that Adenubi used Ogunkunle's passport to obtain free medical care during the delivery of her son Moses.

She then allowed Ogunkunle, 32, and partner Michael Adebambo, 46, to register as Moses’s parents to get him free NHS care and a UK passport, a court heard.

Judge John Tanzer described the case as ‘a Nigerian plot to use the “International Health Service” and then take further advantage’.

It was discovered that Adenubi went to London when pregnant in 2014 on a family visit visa, which allowed her to stay for up to six months but after the expiration of her her visa, she stayed put and was arrested and handed an eight-month suspended prison sentence for fraud, but she still found a way to hide in the country and had her baby who is now one.

"She now lives in a two-bedroom semi-detached house – paid for by the taxpayer – in an east London suburb, receiving around £9,000 a year in state handouts," quotes the paper.

In her defense, Adenubi said she fled Nigeria because her son’s father abused her.

When Ogunkunle was arrested in August last year, she claimed Adenubi took the passport after moving into her spare room, but Adenubi denied that she ever knew Ogunkunle or her partner, saying she ‘found their papers on a park bench’.

Registering the birth of the baby and said she had been introduced to Adenubi by a friend of her mother’s and took pity on her … She told police she was angry at Adenubi using her identity and tried to beat her to it by registering the child.

‘[Adebambo] said his girlfriend asked him … to register a birth … He said he did it out of love for [her] and was very remorseful.’

A spokesman for King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospital where Adenubi was treated, said: ‘We are still working to recover monies owed in this case.’

PoliticsRibadu Later Realised Obasanjo Was Using Him –soyinka by Islie(op): 3:43am On Aug 11, 2015
Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, said that former President Goodluck Jonathan was becoming authoritarian while in office.

Soyinka also said that the pioneer Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu admitted to him in the UK that he (Ribadu) realised late that former President Olusegun Obasanjo was using him as EFCC boss.

Soyinka also said that the former President also committed what he described alarming errors of governance.

The playwright said he withdrew his support for Jonathan because he was drifting towards “fascism.”

Soyinka in an interview with the current edition of Zero Tolerance magazine, a publication of the EFCC, stated that Jonathan surrounded himself with ”unsavoury characters.”

He stated that it was important for any President or public officer to pick his advisers carefully because of the kind of characters who shielded the former President from certain happenings around hm.

Soyinka explained that he marched alongside others in order to ensure that Jonathan was sworn-in as the acting President in 2010, noting that the action was meant to protect the constitution and not about Jonathan.

He said, “We marched in order to protect the constitution, not the person of Jonathan. We retained a cordial relationship during his tenure. However despite some attacks I felt compelled to launch on him – and his wife. Jonathan committed some truly alarming errors of governance. He was propelling himself towards outright fascism.

“Asked by the interviewers if Jonathan was caged, he answered, “Correct. There are forces around Jonathan, you put your fingers around it, which he himself does not understand and that is why I stressed that, you’ve got to choose your circle of advisers very carefully, when you are in charge. He’s been caged; things are going on in his ministry that he did not know about.”

He stressed, for instance, that the former President did not know that King of Morocco had withdrawn his ambassador to Nigeria in March, 2015 until a week later.

He further stated that the former leader surrounded himself with corrupt individuals.

“When it comes to the issue of corruption, Jonathan surrounds himself with certain unsavoury characters and that is something you don’t have to do if you are in charge,” he said.

Soyinka said that a leader dedicated to the fight against corruption should ensure that the agencies entrusted with the responsibility to fight the scourge were strengthened.

According to him, he told pioneer Chairman of the EFCC, Ribadu, that he was being used by Obasanjo but he did not believe it.

He stated that the former EFCC boss admitted to him when he was sent on exile in the UK that he did realise very late that OBJ was using him.

Soyinka stressed that it was imperative to remove the link between power and corruption in Nigeria.

He said, “Why should a President involve himself in what is already structurally established and dedicated to that purpose?

“I warned your former boss, Ribadu, I told him that, your task will be done when in the course of your investigation; you discover that the source of the problem is the very person who appointed you.

“He looked shocked a bit, and eventually he and I met in London, after he was removed and (the current Governor of Kaduna State Mallam Nasir) el-Rufai was also in exile after they tried to kill him. We met and Ribadu refused to sit down. I asked him to sit but he said no, that until I accepted his apology, he won’t sit down. I asked what apology? And he said ‘I should have listened to you. I failed to listen to you.

“Something you have said to me and I failed to listen’ Ribadu admitted that he realised very late that Obasanjo was using him.

“So we have to destroy that link between power and corruption. Audu Ogbeh confirmed what I am telling you. Then, it was ‘go after this one, go after that one, ahh you did not arrest him? Arrest his mother! I am challenging Obasanjo to deny it.

So, when you are looking for corruption, you should look at the entire stratum of the society, while some forms of corruption are direct, others are indirect.

The professor also criticised the former President on his choice of campaign managers during the presidential elections, noting that he phoned Jonathan and cautioned him on his choice of former Ogun State governor, Gbenga Daniel, as one of his managers.

“Do you need somebody like that? What about somebody like Gbenga Daniel who closed down a legislature for almost a year? When I heard this, I called Jonathan, I asked him, ‘is this your understanding of democracy.”

“A governor closes down an assembly with the aid of the police and the place is under lock with ‘Mopol’ guarding it. When Jonathan selected this person as his campaign manager in Abuja, I telephoned him; I said does this support democracy that you choose this person. It is not a question of this person is a governor therefore come to my party, I can work with him. No, when a president picks somebody for a particular duty it means you are pointing that person out as an aspect of government so you see, it is impossible for me to pick Jonathan as a candidate,” he said.

Christianity Etc'white Garment' Prophet Dies While Having Sex With Church Member's Wife by Islie(op): 3:39pm On Aug 10, 2015
A white garment prophet has reportedly died while having sex with a church member's wife.

A prophet with a 'White Garment' church in a suburb of Lagos, identified simply as 'Woli Adesoji', has reportedly died during sex with the wife of his close friend and an elder in the church.

It was gathered that the 'Woli', was actually expelled from another church where he was a prophet after he was caught with a member's wife and he later opened his own church and seemed to continue in his indulgence.

Being the leader of the church, Adesoji had a free reign and slept with any woman he deemed fit, both married and single, especially those who sought for fruits of the womb or husbands.

A church member who revealed the deed to Pulse, said:

"It was a thing of shame when Prophet Adesoji, a married man with several children, died while making love to another man's wife. And the woman is married to an elder in the church.

We all know Woli to be very randy and had been suspected by many but since he was the founder of the church, no one could confront him. It seemed the woman's husband had planted 'magun' (a Yoruba voodoo meant to prevent a woman from committing adultery), on his wife and behold, it was Woli that was caught in the trap.

He died in a very shameful way in his private room in the church. The woman has since fled the area while church members have been trying to come to terms with the ugly incident."

CrimeFather In Court Over Killing Of 6-day-old Son by Islie(op): 12:15pm On Aug 10, 2015
A Borno State High Court sitting in Maiduguri is to continue hearing tomorrow in the case of culpable homicide against a father accused of killing his six-day-old son.
Daily Trust gathered that Auwal Usman, who is standing trial before High Court 11, Maiduguri, presided over by Justice Wakkil Gana, was accused of injecting his six-day-old son with a poisonous substance.
The late child was said to have been delivered out of wedlock by his long-time girlfriend, one Habiba Mohammed.
Before closing its case on Friday, prosecution counsel, B.R. Balami, led Habiba in evidence before the court. She said she was not married to Usman, but bore him a son.
She told the court on oath that Usman visited her six days after delivery under the pretext of arranging naming ceremony for the deceased child.
Habiba said when she left the accused to check up on something in her room, the child was hale and healthy. She added that when she returned a few minutes later, she found the child lying on the floor unconscious while the father was nowhere to be found.
She said she then reported the matter to police in the area.
Professor Haruna A. Ngadda, a lecturer at the University of Maiduguri and a medical consultant, told the court that he was assisted by Dr. Abba Kabir, in carrying out autopsy on the deceased.
He said based on investigation, the baby died of Asypxia, occasioned by cerebral haemorrhage (bleeding). He said they also found blush discoloration of lips, finger and nails with fractured neck bone.

CrimeBus Trader Cuts Colleague’s Belly, Spills Intestines In Knife Attack by Islie(op): 3:49am On Aug 08, 2015
A gruesome attack on a 33-year-old bus trader, Dennis Nwaize, has landed two of his colleagues, Felicia Emmanuel and Victor John, in the custody of the Department of Criminal Investigation, Lagos after a fight over whose turn it was to hawk inside a particular vehicle.

Saturday PUNCH learnt Nwaize was stabbed with a knife that tore his belly, spilling out his intestines.

Police investigators at the DCI, told our correspondent that on July 5, 2015, 27-year-old John, who works for Emmanuel as a salesman, went to Ibadan to join a luxury bus coming to Lagos as they usually do, in order to advertise and sell her herbal products to passengers while in transit.

According to the traders, they have a schedule with the bus operators on which of them should join specific buses daily.

But on that particular day, John was reportedly ejected from the bus at Ibadan, as the driver said he was not the trader on the schedule.

He was said to have got to Lagos and reported to 31-year-old Emmanuel that he was thrown off the bus and that another trader, Margaret Okpala, was said to have taken his spot.

“Emmanuel and Okpala had previously had quarrels about the issue of bus scheduling. So, as soon as John reported Okpala, Emmanuel went to challenge her,” a source familiar with the case told our correspondent.

The traders deal in herbal medicine and take their stock from their head office at 2, Ikorodu Road, Lagos, where they also remit money after making sales.

Emmanuel, who lives in an apartment in the same building housing their office, reportedly monitored when Okpala arrived at 10am that day and decided to go and challenge her in company with John and another trader.

The police source said, “When they got to the office, they met Nwaize, who is their overall boss. He was preparing for church. In his presence, they challenged Okpala, but she said she knew nothing about what they were talking about.

“Okpala asked John if he indeed saw her in the bus to know that she was the one who took his spot. While this argument was ongoing, Emmanuel, who had brought some bottles to the scene as a weapon, broke one of the bottles and threatened to stab Okpala.

“People at the scene instantly rushed on him and prevented him from using the bottle. Unknown to the others too, John had a plan of his own. He had brought a knife to the scene. While attention was on Emmanuel, he stood up from his seat and attacked Okpala trying to fight her with the knife.”

When Nwaize noticed the weapon, he reportedly tried to intervene and disarm John but in the process, he was stabbed three times, and his intestines spilled out.

Police investigators said that he was rushed to three hospitals, which rejected him as a result of the severity of the injury. He was later accepted and admitted at the Military Hospital, Yaba, Lagos. Nwaize survived the attack and is currently under intensive care at the hospital.

The police have said Emmanuel and John are both in custody and would be charged to court for attempted murder as soon as investigation is complete.

HealthNAFDAC Uncovers Factory With Expired Condiments (Photo) by Islie(op): 3:34am On Aug 07, 2015
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered an illegal factory within the Trade Fair Complex in Lagos, loaded with various expired food condiments worth millions of naira.

It arrested a 24–year-old, Mr. Victor Ebuka Okeke, in connection with the expired products.

The factory, which was originally a one- shop, was said to have been used to stock, re-validate and distribute expired products. Some of the expired products discovered in the factory include expired Maggi Sauce with manufacturing dates: 15/08/2011 and expiry dates: 15/08/2014, Amoy Dark Soy Sauce, Costa Corned Beef and Exeter Corned beef, among others.

For the Costa Corned Beef, whether expired or not, the 24-year -old suspect, changed their labels to Exeter Corned Beef, which, according to him, was to attract patronage because it was a fast moving brand in the market.

Addressing reporters shortly after the exercise, the leader of the NAFDAC team and Assistant Director, Enforcement Operations, Mr. Shaba Mohammed, said the agency had been on the trail of the alleged owner of the factory, following intelligence report.

He said the suspect, who also claimed to be the managing director of the factory, was caught re-validating the expiry dates of Maggi Arome sauce and Amoy Soy sauce, smuggled into the country from Ghana, from 2014 to August 2016.

According to him, the products expired in August 15, last year.

“The suspect was also caught changing labels of Costa corned beef to Exeter corned beef,” he added

Mohammed, who said the suspect had refused to provide information regarding the whereabouts of over 902 cartons of expired Maggi sauce, said the agency would charge him to court for counterfeiting.

“We have arrested the suspect and evacuated the remaining products in the illegal factory. We are also charging him for counterfeiting. Some of the products were not registered by NAFDAC. The products were smuggled in from Ghana. What we found cannot be consumed. We saw two drums filled with ordinary water which he used to immerse the products and the labels will remove without any trace and are replaced with re-validated labels.”

He added that most of the re-validated products had been pushed into the market.

Mohammed said consuming such products could lead to terminal diseases, such as liver and kidney ailments, which are on the rise in the country.

He said the sauces are sodium-based products that could cause hypertension, if consumed.

The assistant director also said the suspect would be arraigned in court.

“Every single thing that is here is dangerous to human health.”

Okeke, who claimed to hail from Njikoka in Anambra State, said he was forced to re-validate the dates to recover the money he spent in importing the products.

“The goods expired after I have sold over 100 cartons. I don’t supply but people come and buy from me.”

Asked why he was changing their labels, he said: “When the products got expired in my hands , in order to recoup my money, I decided to change the products’ details.”

On the people he supplies the products to, he said retailers come to his shop to buy them.

“It is not a factory or a warehouse. All my products are from Ghana. I bought the labels from somewhere,” he said.

The Director-General of NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii, said the current law, which stipulates a fine of N500,000 or 15-year jail term upon conviction, was inadequate.

He stated that the new law sought life jail term and confiscation of assets upon conviction and compensation for victims where the counterfeit product was found to be the proximate cause of severe bodily injury.

Orhii said the new law would also make counterfeiting a non-bailable offence, adding that a whistle-blower clause was also included in the new law.

CrimeMan Killed While Negotiating With A Commercial Sex Worker by Islie(op):
By Esther Onyegbula
Lagos—Operatives of the Lagos State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Yaba, are currently investigating the death of a middle-aged man, identified as Anuoluwapo Saheed, who was reportedly stabbed to death at a hotel in Abule Egba area of Lagos.
It was learned that the victim, Saheed was attacked by hoodlums led by a one Emmanuel, on July 30, in front of Buffalo Hotel, located along Akerele Street in the Abule Egba area.
Vanguard gathered that the hoodlums traced the victim to the hotel where he was drinking with his friends. He was lured outside the hotel by a sex worker attached to the hotel before they pounced on him.

It was gathered that the victim was later rushed to a nearby hospital, but bled to death.

Why is it always expected of men to be sexually skilled and exceptional but never same for women? Countless times we see women seeking for the dissolution of a marriage on the premise of a poor sexual performance by the man but never have men seek to dissolve a marriage sighting same grounds.

In light of this, one is compelled to ask if the desire for a contented interco*rse or to please each other in coitu*s is an exclusive tasking for the men? What roles does the woman play in the bedroom in ensuring that the man is equally satisfied? Why are women always rebellious when a man doesn't fits in to their sexual expectations when they most of the time lie like a log of woods during sex?

We men, craves for sexual satisfaction too and we demand that women must seek to enhance their skills to ensure we are equally contented during sex. BusinessEx-bankers Jailed 91 Years Over N114.6m Fraud (Photo) by Islie(op): 5:44pm On Aug 06, 2015
The Kebbi State High Court has jailed three former bank staff for 91 years over N114.6million fraud.

The convicts, who were jailed by Justice Ibrahim Mairiga, include Suleiman Ibrahim Musa, Bilyaminu Usman and Lawal Suleiman.

They were convicted on 16-count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery, theft and criminal breach of trust brought against them by the Economics and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and subsequently sentenced to 91 years in prison.

The convicts, who were former staff of FinBank Plc (acquired by First City Monument Bank Plc in 2011), Birnin-Kebbi branch in Kebbi State, were first arraigned on July 21, 2010, and had pleaded not guilty to the charges.

A statement by the Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said: “Musa, who was then the head of operations, defrauded the bank of N101, 707,000, Usman and Suleiman, both tellers connived to defraud the bank of N6, 627,500 and N6, 267,500 respectively.

“The crimes were committed between 2008 and 2010. They had at different times debited the bank’s customers by carrying out unauthorized withdrawals.

“They were arrested by EFCC operatives following a petition by the bank’s management, after several customers lodged complaints alleging fraudulent deductions from their bank accounts. They had backed up their claims with various documentary evidence – stamped deposits and investment certificates.

“After five years of trial, Justice Mairiga, having been convinced by the evidence brought before him by the prosecuting counsel, Aisha Habib, found the ex-bankers guilty of the charges.”

The trial judge said: “By considering the amount involved and weight of evidence presented before the court by the prosecution, which was never challenged by the defence, it shows that their wrongful act caused a great injury to the bank.

“I therefore, find the accused persons guilty as charged, and so convict and sentence them to 55 years, seven years and 29 years imprisonment respectively without an option of fine, with the jail term to serve concurrently.”

The judge also ordered the convicts to return the stolen money to the bank.

“We have been living separately for over four years now because he refused to find solution to his problems.
So you left him alone to find solutions to his problems...... Seems some women don't understand what it take to be married....

Aren't you two suppose to be together to find solutions to what ever problem that was wrong with the man and be a shoulder to cry on forthe man to move past his problem
