Family › I’m Pregnant For My Best Friend’s Husband by Islie(op): 1:00pm On Aug 01, 2015 |
Dear Agatha,
About three houses away from where I stay, there is a very secluded guesthouse where men wishing to hide their affairs come to now and then with their dates.
But for the heavy traffic in the evenings to that place, nothing about the house gives the impression of what it is used for. Being in a very responsible estate completes the camouflage of secrecy.
On my way from work one evening, I noticed a very familiar car. Since it was about three cars ahead of mine I couldn’t be sure by the time I drove through our estate security.
I know it entered into the guesthouse. There was no way I could go and check since I had work to do. Being a single mother of two daughters from two men, I take my job seriously.
I almost forgot until my friend called me around 11.30 that night to complain that her husband isn’t back from work yet. According to her, he was busy with a new project. I almost told her I saw a car like that of her husband in my estate but I kept quiet. In the first place, the husband didn’t like me too much he thinks I am a very bad influence on his wife because of my two failed marriages. Secondly, he doesn’t even know where I lived and for some strange reasons I don’t want him to find out because around him, I can’t trust myself to behave. His maleness is that potent.
I immediately knew what his new project was. That night, I didn’t sleep but kept vigil in the bedroom that looked directly over the compound. He left at about 12.30 a.m.
For a month, I kept tab on him. I didn’t know what I wanted to do with the information I was gathering because I would be the last to tell his wife anything.
The wife remains my oldest friend and we have been through some wildlife together, boyfriend swapping and all those naughty things young women did, visiting spiritualists to make men fall and stay with us as long as we wanted. It was this charm my friend actually used on him the first time they met.
I honestly didn’t mean anything to happen until one night I gave in to the temptation inside of me. I called him and gave him the name of the guesthouse on my street. Since I knew when he would be coming, I waited for him outside my gate. That started the illicit affair between my friend’s husband and me.
It is been a year now. My friend unknown to her tells me everything happening between her and her husband, how he doesn’t come home anymore. I am always the one visiting her to prevent her from coming to my place.
Seeing how old and depressed she has become I want to end it all but I discover that I am deeply in love with me and don’t ever want to let go of him unlike all the other men in my life.
I deliberately got pregnant to keep him. He was happy at first but in these last couple of weeks, he seems to be withdrawing and don’t pick my calls. I know he is my friend’s husband but I have always wanted him.
You may condemn me but try to understand that I love him too and help me overcome this.

Business › Man Dies After Losing Money To Lotto by Islie(op): 1:21pm On Jul 31, 2015 |
A man who staked a large sum of money on 'Baba Ijebu' has slumped and died when the results did not go his way.A middle-aged commercial motorcyclist identified as Marcel Okorie, reportedly slumped and died at a lottery point popularly called 'Baba Ijebu', after he realised that he had lost a huge sum of money which was said have run into several thousands.
The incident which happened somewhere around Akute, a suburb of Ogun State, according to eyewitnesses, saw the shocked stakers running helter-skelter after Okorie rode on his bike to the spot and on checking the board, realised he had lost his money and was heard moaning to himself, lamenting that he had lost the money meant to pay his house rent after he was given an ultimatum to pack out of his rented apartment by his landlord.
A witness who did not want his name in print painted the picture:
"It is very sad. I knew the man very well. We used to do 'okada' work together from Ogba to Akute and once in a while, we staked 'Baba Ijebu' at the same place.
On the fateful incident, Marcel said he had a dream where his late father gave him some numbers and he played with over N45,000 and would have won millions if they had played.
But unfortunately, the numbers did not play and he slumped when he saw the result. We tried to revive him and by the time we were able to take him to a nearby hospital, he was already dead.
I really pity his family!" http://pulse.ng/gist/baba-ijebu-man-dies-after-losing-money-to-lotto-id4029791.html |

Crime › Man Rapes His 11-yr-old Daughter by Islie(op): 9:18am On Jul 31, 2015 |
By Peter Duru MAKURDI—A middle-aged man (names withheld) has been arrested and arraigned before a Makurdi Court for allegedly having sexual intercourse with his 11-year-old daughter.
Vanguard learned that the accused was arrested a few days ago after allegedly engaging the girl in days of repeated sexual abuse whenever his wife was away from home. He was, however, caught in the act by a neighbour, who heard the cry of the girl, while she was allegedly being sexually abused, in one of his escapades. The neighbour was said to have called the attention of his wife to the development. She examined her daughter and, convinced that she had been defiled, reported the matter to the police. At the hearing yesterday, police prosecutor, Inspector Hyacinth Gbakun, told the court that the accused contravened Section 91 of the Penal Code and the laws of Benue State. However, no plea was taken for want of jurisdiction, but the prosecuting officer asked for an adjournment to allow the police carry out further investigations. In her ruling, the presiding judge, Mrs. Cecilia Bakara, ordered that the accused be remanded at Makurdi Federal Prison and adjourned the case to September 29. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/07/man-defiles-11-yr-old-daughter/ |

Crime › Man Butchers Friend In Akwa Ibom (warning: Graphic Content) by Islie(op): 11:27am On Jul 30, 2015 |
FOR residents of Itu Road, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, on Wednesday, woke to a horror sight, following the murder of a middle-aged barber by a close family friend and supposed boss. Steven Onowa, a graduate of Federal Polytechnic Oko, from Anambra State, was later arrested by men of the Akwa Ibom State police command over the murder of Daniel Bassey Solomon, his close friend and barbing salon employee. Nigerian Tribune gathered that Onowa, who tried to escape after allegedly butchering his friend and dismembering him, was arrested with the aid of a GSM tracking device employed by officers and men of the Force. Explaining the incident which led to the gruesome murder of the said barber, who hailed from Uruan Local Government Area, the state Police Commissioner, Mr Gabriel Achong, said the culprit confessed to have invited his friend to his house and offered him a drink. “At about 3.00 a.m, I decided to kill him. “I gave him the first cut, the guy got up; I gave him a second one and he died and I butchered him to parts,” the suspect confessed. The commissioner, who confirmed that a quarrel had been on for the past two years between the ‘butcher’ and his victim, even as their case file was still with the SARS department of the command, said the police were successful in tracking down the culprit through the assistance of his landlord, who kept contacting him on phone, as the police kept tracking the calls. “After stabbing him to death, he used matchet to chop off his hands, head and two legs. He packed the parts in a sack, pulled it out of the house to the major street of Itu Road.” Apparently tired of evacuating the corpse to a safer place, he was said to have abandoned the deceased in a bag, removed the vital parts, including his two hands, which he dumped in a place along School Road and the head, which he hid in abandoned dump site on the same Itu Road.
The suspect, who confessed to the crime, said he had called his victim on phone for urgent meeting in his house, where he drugged his Orijin beer. When the late Dan arrived, his killer entertained him with the drugged beer and it was not long before the deceased dosed off, giving his killer the opportunity to tie him, before stabbing him to death. The suspect’s landlord, Mr Celestine George, who spoke to journalists at the police headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, said the police was called after the incident was reported and he had to put a call to the suspect and demanded for the balance of his rent. “The suspect said he was about travelling and that he was with the balance which he would pay me before travelling. I then asked him to meet me at Itam junction, within the premises of a church where I had already told the SARS men to lay ambush for him. “I kept calling him until he arrived at the premises of the church where I tricked him to. He came in a car with three armed mobile policemen and I hinted the men of the SARS formation, who had laid ambush for him within the premises and he was apprehended and handcuffed. “The three mobile policemen were eventually overpowered by the SARS men and the suspect was arrested and taken to the police headquarters at Ikot Akpanabia,” he said. What pained the angry residents of Itu Road the most, according to a neighbour, “is the fact that the suspect, apart from being a close friend of the deceased, was also having an affair with one of the late Dan’s sisters.” He disclosed that such close relationship led to the suspect opening a barbing salon for his victim along Urua Ekpa Road. When interrogated by newsmen, Onowa confessed to the crime and claimed to have killed his victim for daring to raise his voice at him over his N750, 000 he had refused to account for. “We reported the matter to SARS about two years ago and he agreed on a timeframe to pay up the N750, 000. Till today, he has refused to pay the money, so when I invited him to my house that day, he started shouting at and getting angry with me, so I killed him. I am not dealing in body parts. I only cut him to pieces to be able to carry him,” the suspect added. http://tribuneonlineng.com/man-butchers-friend-akwa-ibom-warning-graphic-contentThe picture of the killer and the head of the victim lalasticlala

Crime › NDLEA Nabs China-bound Man With Drugs In Lagos by Islie(op): 4:56pm On Jul 29, 2015 |
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a 44-year-old man, Chide Chibude, for attempting to smuggle 1.185kg of cocaine to China.
This is contained in a statement issued by Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, Head, Public Affairs, NDLEA, on Wednesday in Lagos.
The statement said the NDLEA commander at the Lagos airport, Mr Hamza Umar, noted that Chibude was arrested by NDLEA officers at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.
It said the arrest was effected, while the suspect was attempting to board a Qatar Airways flight to China where drug trafficking is punishable by death.
According to the statement, the suspect ingested 1.185kg of whitish substances that tested positive to cocaine.
“We discovered from our investigation that the suspect sold his property in Enugu and invested the proceeds in drug trafficking due to wrong counsel from friends.
“He was apprehended during outward screening of passengers on Qatar flight. The cocaine found on him weighed 1.185kg,” it said.
The statement said the NDLEA Chairman, Ahmadu Giade, described drug trafficking as criminal and warned that those who seek wealth from criminality shall end up in prisons.
“NDLEA is combating drug trafficking with every resource at its disposal. Drug trafficking is criminal and the gains of a drug-free society is priceless.
“The lesson to be learnt from this case is that those who seek quick wealth from drug trafficking will end up in prison,” the statement quoted Giade as saying.
It added that the suspect’s case was particularly instructive because he invested N2m in drug trafficking which would have led to his untimely death if he was caught in China.
The statement said confessing to the crime, the suspect who hails from Enugu State, said he invested N2m in drug trafficking because he wanted to earn N4m profit in return. http://www.punchng.com/news/ndlea-nabs-china-bound-man-with-drugs-in-lagos/ |

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, said on Wednesday that the newly appointed service chiefs would be screened during plenary on Thursday by 11am.
The Senate president, who did not explain whether the screening would be done in either closed or open session, urged members to be seated on time in order to effectively do justice to the assignment before them.
President Muhammadu Buhari’s letter, seeking the confirmation of the upper chamber for the appointment of new service chiefs, was read by Saraki on Tuesday.
He said the letter for confirmation of the appointments was in accordance with the provisions of Section18 (1) of the Armed Forces Act, 2004.
Buhari, on July 13, announced the appointment of Major General Abayomi Olonishakin as Chief of Defence Staff; Major General Tukur Buratai, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, Chief of Naval Staff; Air Vice-Marshal Sadique Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff; and Air Vice-Marchal Monday Morgan as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
The president also appointed retired Major General Babagana Monguno as National Security Adviser.
Also on Wednesday, the Senate president appointed three standing committees and one ad hoc committee, adhering strictly to the rule on geopolitical spread.
The committees are Senate Services, headed by Senator Ibrahim Gobir (Sokoto East); Rules and Business, which has Senator Babajide Omoworare (Osun Central ) as Chairman, and Ethics and Privileges, chaired by Samuel Anyanwu ( Imo East ).
Saraki also named Senator Dino Melaye (Kogi West ) as Chairman, Ad-hoc Committee on Information and Public Affairs, with Senators Eyinnaya Abaribe and Ben Bruce, among others, as members.
Meanwhile, Saraki has asked senators who are interested in serving in the 8th Senate to pick forms from the Clerk to the Senate and indicate five committees which they wished to serve as soon as possible. http://www.punchng.com/news/senate-to-screen-service-chiefs-thursday-saraki/ |
