Politics › Re: Pope Francis: The Corrupt Should Be Tied To A Rock And Thrown Into The Sea by ISpiksDaTroof: 7:40am On Sep 26, 2014
Aktor365: In what happens to be one of his strongest-worded homilies, the Argentinian Pontiff, Pope Francis said Christians who lead “a double life” by giving money to the Church while stealing from the state are sinners who deserve to be punished.

While quoting a verse from the Book of st Luke, where Jesus said some sinners deserve to be tied to a rock and thrown into the sea.

“Jesus says: It would be better for him if a millstone were put around his neck and he be thrown into the sea.”, he said

While he did not allude directly to corruption within the Catholic Church, his remarks come just days after a scandal erupted inside an ancient religious order linked to the Vatican, and as he forges ahead with a determined effort to root out cronyism within the Holy See and financial irregularities in the scandal-tainted Vatican bank.

The Pope described people engaged in corruption as “whitewashed tombs”, explaining that “they appear beautiful from the outside, but inside they are full of dead bones and putrefaction.” A life based on corruption is “varnished putrefaction”, the Pope said.

Pope Francis made the remarks during his daily morning Mass inside Casa Santa Marta, the Vatican guesthouse which he has chosen to live in after spurning the much grander apostolic apartments on the other side of St Peter’s Basilica.

It is believed that the sermon may be to address the latest scandal to have hit the Catholic Church.

Accerding to reports, last week, the head of a 440-year-old religious order was arrested on suspicion of bringing trumped-up charges against rivals in a bid to be re-elected.

Renato Salvatore, 58, was allegedly so desperate to be re-elected Superior General of the Camillians, also known as the Order of Ministers to the Sick, that he invented false charges against two rival priests who were opposed to his nomination.

The unfounded charges resulted in the two priests, Rosario Messina and Antonio Puca, being hauled off to a police station in Rome, with the result that they were unable to cast their votes against Father Salvatore at a general assembly of the order, which was founded in 1582 and recognised by Pope Sixtus V in 1586.

chimzyblack: THIS THREAD HAS FINALLY EXPOSED HOW STUPID AND IDIOTIC NAIRALANDERS CAN BE.
MANY OF U LACK COMPREHENSION SKILLS.
NO WONDER WE KEEP HEARING OF HIGH WAEC FAILURE IN NIGERIA. SOMETIMES WHEN I READ COMMENTS ON NAIRALAND, MY HEART BLEED FOR THE FUTURE OF NIGERIA BECAUSE THE MAJOR PROBLEM OF NIGERIA ARE ITS CITIZEN. U ALL TEND TO BLOW TINZ OUT OF PROPORTION WITHOUT GETTING UR FACTS RIGHT. IF A NON NIGERIAN SHOULD GO BY THE COMMENTS BEING MADE HERE DAILY, ONE WOULD ASSUME THAT THE COUNTRY IS TOTALLY DEAD BUT THE REVERSE IS THE CASE.

NOW ONTO THE TOPIC: THE 1BILLION LOAN WILL NOT BE IN CASH, THIS MEANS THAT MILLITARY HARD WARE WORTH 1BILLION DOLLARS WILL BE SUPPLIED TO NIGERIA AND THE MONEY MIGHT BE PAID TO THE SUPPLIERS OF THE HARD WARES BY THE IMF OR THE SOURCE GIVING THE LOAN TO NIGERIAN. SO NIGERIA WILL NOT HAVE ANY CONTACT WITH THE MONEY. AND IT WILL BE REPAID OVER A PERIOD OF 7YEARS!!
Let me ask you a few questions, dummy...

1. When a loan is being requested who sets the terms of repayment, interest rate, and period it needs to be repaid: The borrower or the loaner?

2. How do you or the Nigerian Senate---at this point--- know which arms are to be bought and from whom?

So, tell me, why is Nigeria setting terms for repayment, interest rates, period it needs to be repaid etc as if the ball is in its court in this kind of transaction.

Roflmao you guys are so dumb it's unbelievable.

They are scared of Buhari, that's the truth. Buhari has never had a brighter chance than this and they know it. The North --- Christians or Muslims--- will NEVER vote for GEJ, neither will the South West. So, who's going to return him as President, the South East?

All APC has to do is look for an electable South Westerner and GEJ is toast.

With aggressive sensitization of the masses and a public commitment to only rule for one term (from Buhari), even a Buhari/Fashola ticket will blast GEJ/Sambo way back into the ozone layer.

Politics › Re: Yes Nigeria Has What It Takes To Protect Her Airspace(pix) by ISpiksDaTroof: 6:35pm On Sep 25, 2014
xwolverine: As funny as it sounds, the reason given is that Nigeria is in breach of their so called senator Leahy laws. This to me is selective double standards, because Nigeria has shown itself over the years as dependable ally, even when we had the tyrants in power (Abacha), our alpha jets were used extensively to end the Liberian and Seira leoninan wars, if we look at the Israeli conflicts with Palestines, there were numerous cases of human right abuse, but the Yanks turned the blind eye.

The sanctions, though unofficial from the yanks, is what our ogas are giving as reasons for not getting the right hardwares, which to me is a blessing in disguise and it further buttresses my point that we should turn East for our military assets. The Cobras blocked from the Israeli deal does 150 mph, the Mi 35m does 150mph and its relatively cheaper. They both have night fighting capabilities, why do we keep on crying about the yanks blocking our purchases?

Our foreign policy is inherently weak and we lack national defence/security strategy, that's why we are constantly being bullied. Would South Africans Handle the $9 million like that if it was the yanks that owned it? Look at Algeria and the debacle when about 60 expertriates of which most were from powerful countries were kidnapped, the Algerians made sure that no fly from any foreign country dared enter their airspace, putting it in lockdown. We on the other hand had to invite the yanks to our country, because of the chibok saga. The yanks were practically left to gather invaluable Intel about our nation and military assets, heck they even refused to share intelligence with our boys. The French who colonised Algeria were practically beg to go near the Algerian border, with a lot of diplomatic negotiations and pleading. After locking down their airspace, the Algerian special forces went in guns blazing and killed almost 20 of the hostages yet we didn’t ear any crap from the west about that operation till today, the only thing the Algerian foreign minister had to say was "we couldn’t allow ransom money to enter the terrorists hands to torment algerians so something had to be done”. After everything, the yanks packed their gears and left without doing jack.

We wouldn't be in this position if after the Biafra wars we had started to harness those inventions from the Ibos. We could have upgraded Dicon to enviable standards , unlike what obtains now, where the only meaningful manufacturing going on in Dicon is reproductions of AK47 in this day and age where college students are manufacturing drones, heck we can't even manufacture military protective gears. Who are we deceiving.

As predicted, GEJ is currently in the US, cap in hand begging the yanks to have mercy, where is our national pride and respect? I'm sure he would be smiling sheepishly while the yanks and Other African countries would be making fun of us. even ordinary Cameroon that doesn't have an airforce are claiming that they carried out strikes inside the Nigerian territory. I don't care whoever occupies the Aso Rock next year, as long as the person has balls of steel.
What freaking "Intel" about your porous country are you talking about? You really think we need to be on ground to know everything happening in your official circles? If you became a fantasy writer you would become a very successful one in a very short period...at least if you learned how to spell "Sierra Leonian" properly

P.S: What the hell is a "Breach of so called Sen.Leahy law"? Stop pretending like you know more than you do. Everything you wrote up there was crap, and you know it.

xwolverine: These acquisitions are highly classified, getting the images are nearly impossible. But trust me, these acquisitions are confirmed part of the NAF inventory.

Nobody knows the exact number of the 4th Gen fighter jets, I can only tell you the number of assets on ground based on my sources, I wouldn't include some assets that are still expected. e.g the Kfir is being muted as well, some NAF pilots were sighted evaluating them, another one is the Orders for Tavors for our Army boys and Night vision goggles as standard gear for the 7th division boys and further standardisation across the other divisions. These are not confirmed, but the 4th Gen Jets and Helos are in town.

The information released on the US debacle was because of the attack helos, the plan was to get 40 units of helos for Ground assault and special forces/troops/hardware movement. We were considering the Cobras and Apache from Israel, but was blocked by the US. Before this, an initial 6 Mi-35M was due for delivery in August, me thinks the further request for more was based on the US sabotage.
You're probably the biggest bullshiyyter and liar I met since I joined this forum.

A whole defense chief cannot effectively communicate with his subordinates IN THE SAME COUNTRY! You would think the girls were being rescued from Afghanistan.

To you supporters of GEJ, this is the effect of corruption. See that $9.3million the Chief Pastor, GEJ, and the Israeli funneled to South Africa, it could've been used to upgrade the communications equipment for your fighting forces.

Basically, Boko Haram can overrun anywhere in Nigeria if they so desire because the first line of defense---Signals and Communication --- is virtually non existent.

OneNaira6: I know I honestly believe this isn't his first ID. Idk if you did like me but when I first joined NL, I was curious to see what started the animosity on NL so I went through old threads. We had a black Britain, whose never been to Nigeria, know Nigeria so much he can diiferentiate tribes by names. Likewise, we had a Latino who also never been to Nigeria, associate with Nigerians know so much about Nigeria that, like the black Britain, he also can differentiate tribes by names, regions they live and each city that belong to who along with language. One thing all this ID had in common, they defend Yoruba with all their might. We also had a black american that used to attack Yoruba and defend Igbo but for him, the only way I knew he really was a non Nigerian is because the dude would post non Igbo that are well famous and call them Igbo and the reason he thought they were "Igbo" is based on his own theory of face shape, color, etc of igbo. He rarely knew which cities belongs to which groups, excluding Lagos. Like your typical black American he was clueless in a lot of things regarding the country...I thought he was an Igbo too ashamed of himself until I noticed a pattern with him.

As for the other two, amazed me how non Nigerians can differentiate tribes without any help ironically, they've never been nor interacted with nigeriams except on NL. Also, like the spikes guy, they stayed on NL 24-7. I'm a member of two AA forums, majority of time I'm not on their unless it is football season. Amazing how a "non Nigerian" with no feelings to Nigeria, infact he sees it as worthless, is here 24-7 starting and conducting tribal tactics. On top of that, he claims he lives in Nigeria for years now. Ironically, we have Indians, Lebanese, Chinese, even whites living inNigeria how many are here and how many are so obbessed in trying to promote a political party and leader in that party like our idea "white, non-nigerian", like you know who.

The sad thing about him is that he thinks he's fooling anyone with his "I'm not Nigerian claim".
Stop with the victim Mentality. Youve been out here, what, 10yrs u said?Live here another 20yrs and work your way up to the White House, then let some dummy question why you have an affinity to the U.S.

My little sister came here when she was 7 years old and till this day, her Igbo accent is still with her. We refused in hell to remove it. The sad thing about Africans is that they don't realize their accent is a pride. It shows you're different. You are unique and to top it all off, you are multilingual.. which in fact a GOOD thing. Idk why Nigerian parents honestly believe having their children learn just English is a better option. Smh.
You know you just told a damn lie. 11 and 7yr old black African kids, beaming with African pride and flaunting their African accents to the faces of American kids?! Roflmao you will get eaten alive with taunts and insults and your formative years would be nothing short of depressing.

Seriously, what's with a certain section of Nigeria and eternal lies?! You "refused" to remove your accent indeed. YOU COULDNT LOSE IT! Because I use 12yrs old as a threshold, now all a sudden he's been in the United States since he was 11yrs old. Even the rap artiste, Wale, who's never stepped foot on African soil till this year--- and is an All American boy through and through--- regularly tells how he was constantly teased because he had an African name, not to talk of a full ibo Nigerian with a thick accent claiming "I was 11 but I refused to lose my accent". Even my daughters got teased in Nigeria all the time because they talked different and your here telling all these lies?

I know several Africans who you would mistake for American because they perfected their American accents even when they immigrated as adults.

Is this supposed to be an insurmountable feat or something?

Dude, calm down. It's not that serious!
You would mistaken them for Americans BECAUSE YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT AN AMERICAN ACCENT SOUNDS LIKE. You know what its "Supposed" to sound like, but not "what" it sounds like. Do you know how many times I've watched interviews on Nigerian entertainment stars or News Media and you hear viewers say: "Oh, he sounds American", or "Look, hes faking an American accent but he got it down pat" and I just smile to myself because they have no idea what theyre talking about?

What is the big deal about this?!
All that nonsense yall Nigerians roll your tongues, stuff up your nose and damn near spit in people's faces when you try to pronounce words like "Worcester" in attempts to sound American because you think it sounds just like its spelled?
