@POLITICSNGR The Kaduna division of the court of Appeal today, December 18th, 2017 upheld the judgment of the Kano State High Court which convicted and sentenced an Ex-Bank Manager, Samuel Owoleye to 19 years imprisonment in 2012. Owoleye, a Manager at the Union Bank Branch of Bank Road Kano who was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for offences bordering on Obtaining by False Pretence contrary to sections 1(1) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and section 371 of the Penal code law, had pleaded not guilty and the prosecution, through its counsel A.T Habib, presented ten witnesses and tendered numerous exhibits in order to prove the case against him during his trial. On the 20th day of June 2012, the Kano State High Court presided over by Honourable Justice Dije Abdu Aboki found the accused person guilty on the three count charge that were preferred against him by the commission and convicted him accordingly. The appellant was subsequently sentenced to 10 years imprisonment on count one, 7 years imprisonment on count 2 without option of fine. However, on count three, he was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment with option of N300,000 fine. While the sentence in count one and two were to run concurrently, the appellant was to serve consecutive sentence in count three. Owoyele's road to prison started when the commission received a petition from one Ashiru Munzali Gambo that the convict obtained the sum N27,000,000 (Twenty Seven Million Naira) under a false pretence that he had $185,000 (one hundred and eighty-five thousand United States Dollars) to sell to him. Being dissatisfied with the judgment of the trial court, the convict approached the Kaduna division of the Court of Appeal in a bid to set aside the judgment of the lower court on three grounds. In a judgment delivered by Honourable Justice Bdlya Ibrahim all the issues raised by the appellant were resolved against the appellant and in favour of the respondents. The appeal was dismissed for lack of merit. The convict was immediately rearrested by officers of the Commission and conveyed to Kano Zonal Office of the Commission. https://politicsngr.com/2017/12/18/former-union-bank-manager-gets-19-years-prison/

@POLITICSNGR Nigerian dancehall star, Damini Ogulu popularly known as ‘Burna Boy’ on Friday submitted himself to the Lagos State Police Command to state his side of the story over allegations of his involvement in a robbery attack on a fellow artiste, Mr. 2kay. He was subsequently arrested, interrogated and detained and is expected to be charged to court on Monday alongside four of members of the gang earlier arrested. Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal, after the interrogation, said the State Police Command has zero tolerance for all forms of crime and would not hesitate to prosecute anyone found culpable in any criminal offence perpetrated in the State. “There would be no sacred cows. This Command is poised to ensure that every resident can feel safe wherever they are and carry out their businesses without fear or favour. Anyone therefore found to be involved in this case would be made to face the law to clear his or her name or face prosecution,” Imohimi said. The pop musician, who was declared wanted by the Lagos Police Command in connection with the robbery attack on another popular musician, Mr. 2kay at Eko Hotel and Suites early last month, reported to the Command headquarters in Ikeja at about 5pm. PoliticsNGR learnt that Tunmise Omotore, gang leader of the suspected robbers, had confessed on how they disguised as room service to rob Mr. 2kay at Eko Hotel and Suites on the instruction of Burba Boy’s Road Manager, Joel Kantiock. @POLITICSNGR The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) on November 27, 2017, arraigned the duo of John Zino and Festus Otoigiaghae before Justice Josephine Oyefeso of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, obtaining by false pretence and impersonation to the tune of N1m (One Million Naira). The petitioner, Victor Adoji, an employee of Zenith Bank Plc, alleged that the first defendant, Zino, told him that there was a "stinking petition" against him with the Commission for keeping foreign currencies at home. Sixty-two-year-old Zino, who claimed to be a lawyer with the Commission, also allegedly requested $100, 000.00 USD(One Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) from Adoji for him to “settle EFCC boys in order to be given soft landing". The first defendant also allegedly admitted to have met the second defendant, Otoigiaghae, who wrote the petition against Adoji, through a church member. The petitioner(Adoji) who suspected a foul play, was said to have approached the Commission, where he was told to play along with the accused. The accused were eventually arrested in a sting operation by operatives of the Commission. The accused persons pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to them. In view of their pleas, the prosecution counsel, Zainab Ettu, asked for a trial date and prayed the court to remand the accused persons in prison custody. Consequently, Justice Oyefeso ordered the accused persons to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to December 18, 2017, for the hearing of the bail application and February 27, 2018, for commencement of trial. https://politicsngr.com/2017/11/28/fraud-efcc-arraigns-man-impersonating-zenith-bank-topgun-photos/

@POLITICSNGR Ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan has replied the chairman of the presidential committee on Anti-corruption, Professor Itse Sagay, who stated recently that Nigerians would have been going to Libya through the Sahara desert if Jonathan had remained in power for 3 more years. Jonathan, in a statement through his aide, Reno Omokri, dismissed Sagay's statements adding that the country's economy was much better under his administration. "The World Bank says our economy was better under Jonathan than it is now. Transparency International says corruption is worse today than under Jonathan. The Global Hunger Index says Nigerians are more hungry today than under Jonathan. Nigeria moved from 4th most terrorized nation in the world in 2015 to 3rd most terrorized nation in the Global Terrorism Index for 2017. Furthermore, under President Muhammadu Buhari, the United Nations reveals that there has been a massive increase in the number of Nigerians fleeing Nigeria via the desert with 602,000 leaving annually and 27,000 dying every year either in the Sahara Desert or the Mediterranean Sea. So by what parameter is Sagay using to make his jaundiced judgment? Furthermore, under former President Jonathan, Nigeria was the first nation in the world to evacuate her citizens from Libya during the Arab Spring. Dr. Jonathan would never keep quiet if Nigerians are being sold as slaves in Libya. If President Buhari can call Nigerians “criminals” to the Telegraph of U.K, why should Nigerians be surprised when he does not act to free us from slavery in Libya? Professor Sagay spends too much time poking his nose into other people’s affairs and too little focus on his own business, that is why under his watch as chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-Corruption, PACAC, Maina got recalled, reinstated, double promoted and still received salary (according to his lawyer). That is why the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Maikanti Baru, was able to award $25 billion worth of contracts without due process. That is why $40 million was found in an Ikoyi apartment and Nigerians still do not know who the money belongs to.That is why there has been unbridled looting around President Buhari to the extent that the Presidential Clinic at Aso Rock does not have ordinary Panadol, despite the billions allocated to it under President Buhari." https://politicsngr.com/2017/11/28/nigerias-economy-better-administration-jonathan-fires-fg/

@POLITICSNGR A prosecution witness, Abdul-Rasheed Bawa, an investigator with the EFCC, on Monday, November 27, 2017, told Justice Hakeem Oshodi of the Lagos State High Court, how the Managing director of Eternal Oil and two others forged 30 Documents to defraud the federal government in fuel subsidy. The trio of Mahmud Tukur, Abdullahi Alao and Ochonoghor Alex and their companies Eternal Plc and Axenergy are being prosecuted by the EFCC for defrauding the government to the tune of N3,121,393,098 ( Three Billion, One Hundred and Twenty- one Million, Three Hundred and Ninety- three Thousand, Ninety- eight Naira). The defendants had previously been arraigned before Justice Lawal Akapo on December 10, 2015, for allegedly diverting the money obtained from the Federal Government for the purpose of importing Premium Motor Spirit, PMS. Counsels to the accused had subsequently filed a joint application seeking to quash the charge preferred against their clients by the Commission. The defence counsels had argued that the State High Court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter on the grounds that the allegations against them were oil and gas related, which could only be heard by a Federal High Court. The accused, through their counsels, had also argued that the prosecution could not establish a prima facie case against them. In his ruling on the application, Justice Oshodi had dismissed the application and upheld the argument of the prosecution. The Judge also held that the prosecution had successfully established a prima facie case against the accused persons and described the application as “premature”. At the resumed hearing before Justice Oshodi on Friday, November 24, 2017, the defence, again, argued that the prosecution did not have the fiat of the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, to prosecute the case. In his response, the prosecution counsel, Rotimi Jacobs, SAN, however, submitted that he did not have to show the defence the fiat of the AGF to prosecute them. Jacobs further submitted that he could only show his client, the EFCC and the court the fiat and not the defence counsels. Justice Oshodi upheld the argument of the prosecution counsel, thereby setting the stage for the prosecution witness, Bawa, to give his evidence against the accused. The accused, among others, claimed that they had imported and discharged PMS sometime in September, 2011 at a tank farm in Lagos, First Deep Water Discovery Limited, for which they were paid the sum of N626m subsidy. Also, the accused said they received the sum of N595m from the government after claiming to have imported and discharged PMS at the same tank farm in Lagos sometime in October 2011. However, the witness, in his testimony, told the court how the accused, without any fuel importation, forged over 30 documents and submitted same to the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA, to fraudulently obtain the subsidy for the importation of PMS in 2011. Led in evidence by the prosecution counsel, the witness said: “The owner of the vessel, MT Deepwater EX MT Valle Di Castiglia, and the claimed tank farm of discharge, First Deep Water Discovery Limited, denied the usage of their vessel for the transaction and also confirmed forgery of documents submitted by Eternal to PPPRA. “The EFCC had access to Lloyds List Intelligence and search conducted for the movement of MT Valle Di Castiglia revealed that the vessel was at the Republic of Turkey all through the period that Eternal claimed to have taken PMS from it with MT Deepwater. So, how can a vessel that was in Turkey give products to another vessel in offshore Cotonou?” Giving further evidence on both MT Fulmar Ex MT Emirates Star and MT Panther EX MT Emirates Star, the witness said the modus operandi employed by the defendants to defraud the government was alteration of bills of loading dates resulting in higher costs of importation. He said: “The claimed MT Emirates has a bill of lading dated 28 April 2011 which gave Eternal a loading cost of about N151. “However, an investigation revealed that the actual mother vessel for the transaction is MT GonHild Kirk, which had a bill of loading with the date of April 3, 2011, with landing cost of about N141. “The government, acting on forged importation documents indicating MT Emirates Star, paid Eternal about N3.3bn instead of N2.9bn. ” He added that search on LLyods Intelligence on Emirates Star indicated that the vessel sailed out of Doven Strait, United Kingdom and arrived New York, USA within the period that the Eternal documents claimed that the vessel was discharging its products into MT Fuliman and MT Panthern. The case was adjourned to February 26, 2018, for continuation of trial. https://politicsngr.com/2017/11/27/subsidy-fraud-eternal-oil-md-others-forged-documents-defraud-fg/

@POLITICSNGR Pro-Yoruba group, Afenifere has weighed in on the alleged 2019 presidential ambition of Ex-governor and National chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. While reacting to claims that the Tinubu's recent visit to its leader Pa Reuben Fasoranti in Akure, Ondo state was political, the group stated that it was unaware of Jagaban's ambition. A member of the group, Sehinde Arogbofa, told Punch; "People can give any interpretation to the visit. But from the Afenifere’s point of view, we are not aware of his (Tinubu) political ambition and his visit was not political. He came on a private visit and sought to be reunited with his socio-political source, which is Afenifere. In the past 15 years, he has not been very close to us and if for this time, he felt it, as a real Yoruba man, to pay homage to the leader of Afenifere, I think it is commendable. So his visit has nothing to do with politics." https://politicsngr.com/2017/11/26/not-aware-tinubus-2019-presidential-bid-afenifere/ cc: lalasticlala, mynd44

@POLITICSNGR The Southern Senators’ Forum has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to convene a meeting of the leadership of the National Assembly, state houses of assembly, and governors. The forum said the meeting would brainstorm on the implementation of the 2014 National Conference report. The chairman of the forum, Hope Uzodinma, made the call in a communiqué he read at the end of a retreat of the group in Calabar on Saturday. The retreat had the theme: “ National Unity and Restructuring’’.According to the chairman, the forum resolved that its members will liaise with their colleagues in the National Assembly to kick-start a legislative process that will ensure the implementation of the report. He also said the group urged the leadership of the National Assembly to bring up the report for consideration. “After presentation of papers, contributions and general brainstorming, it was resolved that Nigeria and Nigerians have come a long way. “As such, it has become imperative and in the interest of all to live together as one united family under one indivisible and indissoluble country with justice, equity and fairness. “While the unity of Nigeria should not and cannot be compromised under any circumstance, it has become apparent that the foundation upon which Nigeria was built at independence in 1960 has been eroded. “There is a need to return to the original dream of true federalism which was a product of negotiation, compromise and accommodation,’’ he said. The retreat witnessed presentation of papers from prominent Nigerians on various subject matters, including “Sustaining National Unity in a restructured Nigeria’’. Others are: “Provisions for National Unity in the 1999 Constitution (Amended), Between the Dreams of pre-Independence Nationalists and Restructuring: A Critical Look at the Past and Present, Imperatives of Restructuring in Multi-Religious Nigeria.(NAN) https://politicsngr.com/2017/11/25/restructuring-2014-confab-report-must-implemented-southern-senators/ cc: lalasticlala, mynd44

@POLITICSNGR More photographs have emerged showing a group of Kidnappers shot dead in Ikom by the cross-river state special anti-robbery squad(SARS), alive during the time of capture contradicting a report by the Cross-river police that the kidnappers were killed in a gun battle. One of the photographs indicate that the kidnappers were not killed in a gun battle but were likely murdered as a young man is seen dragging the body of one of the kidnappers out of a bush. Other photographs show the kidnappers alive and well after their arrest. The development is now being tagged an extrajudicial killing of the suspected kidnappers. The CRS Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Irene Ugbo insists that the suspects were killed in a gun battle with the police, but these pictures clearly show that they were arrested and killed without resisting. https://politicsngr.com/2017/11/11/ikom-killings-photos-emerge-showing-kidnappers-captured-alive/

@POLITICSNGR The Nigerian police force has reacted to a viral report stating that it is the worst rated Police outfit in the world. In a statement signed by Police PRO, CSP Jimoh Moshood, obtained by PoliticsNGR, the Nigerian police counters the report stating that it is 'One of the best in the world and the best in Africa'. The statement read; · Nigeria Police Force is the best in UN Peace Keeping Operations, Best in Africa, One of the Best in the World. The Force rejects the report as unempirical and absolute falsehood, should be disregarded and discountenanced. · IGP Assures Nigerians, International Community and Stakeholders Of Policing with Integrity and International Core Values and World Best Practices. The attention of the Nigeria Police Force has been drawn to The Cable News Online of today, 10th November, 2017 captioned “NIGERIA POLICE RATED WORST IN THE WORLD”, on the 2016 World Internal Security and Police Index (WISPI) credited to two (2) bodies, The International Police Association and the Institute for Economics and Peace. The report claimed to have measured the ability of the Police to address Internal Security Issues in 127 Countries in four (4) key areas of Capacity, Process, Legitimacy and Outcomes. 2. The Nigeria Police Force after a careful study of the report and the news items emanating from it, wishes to state categorically that the report is entirely misleading, a clear misrepresentation of facts and figures and essentially unempirical, considering the area of coverage of the report which was said to have been carried out in 2016 by the above-mentioned associations. 3. The report did not take into cognisance the significant improvement in the areas of Capacity Building, Training and Re-training of the entire personnel of the Force as provided for by the current Federal Government of Nigeria and other Foreign and Local NGOs which has greatly improved the efficiency and service delivery of the personnel of the Force throughout the country. 4. It is pertinent to state that the instruments used to evaluate the performance of the Force vis-à-vis that of other countries is absolutely incorrect and grossly inadequate and therefore a plain distortion of facts and figures. The strength of about Three Hundred and Seventy Thousand (370,000) Police Personnel in the country stands at around One (1) Policeman to less than Six Hundred (600) people in population estimates of One Hundred and Eighty Million (180,000,000) Nigerians. 5. It is equally significant to state that the current recruitment of additional Ten Thousand (10,000) Police Personnel into the Force by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the request by the Inspector General of Police to Government for approval of the recruitment of Thirty One Thousand (31,000) Police Personnel yearly for a period of 5years will definitely increase the strength of the Force to meet up with the UN ratio of One (1) Policeman to Four Hundred (400) citizens. 6. Furthermore, in the UN Peace Keeping System, the Nigeria Police Force is rated as the best in UN Peacekeeping operations in the world. This clearly shows that the Nigeria Police Force is not and cannot be the worst in the world under any known scientific yardstick or measuring instrument. 7. Currently, the Nigeria Police Force is one of the only two African Delegates representing the whole of Africa continent on the executive committee of Interpol, a position the Force attained based on high performance, merit and sustained good track records. 8. For avoidance of doubt, since the inception of the present Police administration in July 2016, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris NPM, mni, he has introduced and implemented diverse internal reforms aimed at improving capacity building and efficient service delivery of the personnel of the Force, which is yielding positive results in the standardization of the capability of the Nigeria Police Force to deal with violent crimes and terrorism throughout the country. The establishment and take-off of a world-class Terrorism Investigation Bureau for the Force with state-of-the-art equipment and technical support from foreign partners has greatly improved the capacity of the Force to deal with threats posed to internal security in this regard. 9. However, it must be pointed out that the Nigeria Police Force sees the report as a clear demonstration of mischief, ignorance and calculated attempt to distort the feat being recorded by the Force in ensuring adequate security and safety of Nigerians. Nowhere in the report were references made to either the improved capacity or achievements recorded by the Nigeria Police Force across the country in the recent time, the Force, therefore, implores all Nigerians and international community to disregard the report as unfounded and misleading. 10. The renewed determination of the Force to adhere to Internal Police Reforms for greater efficiency in service delivery and conform to standard principles, building trust and confidence in the citizenry for their safety remain unequivocal and unwavering." https://politicsngr.com/2017/11/11/not-worst-police-force-world-nigerian-police-reacts-report/

A member of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) board of trustees, Buba Galadima has tagged the agricultural policies of the Muhammadu Buhari led administration as 'Mere Propaganda'. PoliticsNGR learnt that Galadima, a former close associate of Buhari made these statements while disagreeing with reports that the federal government used the CBN to grants loans to farmers. He lamented that the policies of this administration were not being felt by farmers. Speaking to Sun, Galadima said; "No, no, there are people from certain parts of the country that can never get loan or assistance from the government. I have been looking for some amount of money, I gave out my C of O, certificate of my farm and office that amounts to over N500m, yet no bank was able to grant me N16m loan. I had to sell my property to get some money. So what government is doing in the area of farming is mere propaganda, I have not seen anything on ground.I wrote to the Minister of Agriculture that I needed to buy certain farm equipment and agricultural facilities, he is yet to reply my letter four months after. I had a late planting and I am suffering that as the rain has suddenly seized. If this type of treatment is being given to me, how about the man in the village who cannot reach the minister of agriculture or anybody?"

The Nigerian presidency has detailed reasons why President Muhammadu Buhari remains silent on the several cases of corruption under his administration, PoliticsNGR has learned. According to President Buhari's special assistant on prosecutions, Chief Okoi Obono Obla, the president has been quiet because he wanted to follow due process. He pointed out that the Ministry of health and Senate panels that Investigated the Executive Secretary of the National health insurance scheme and the secretary general to the government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal lacked the powers to investigate crime. In his words; "The Senate that attempted to investigate it did not have the power (to do so). It cannot investigate crime; the Senate can only carry out its oversight function to expose corruption, inefficiency, maladministration in the process of lawmaking. It (Senate) should report to the ICPC; it should report to the EFCC. An administrative panel of enquiry (the Osinbajo-led panel ) has submitted its report to the President. After that, a committee would be set up to review and then come out with a White Paper. It is not automatic. A White Paper would be the government’s position on the issue. The committee can make 10 recommendations and the White Paper may accept two. So, the President is in that process of coming out with a report. So, the President must follow due process before coming to a conclusion. Even if that report comes out, the President does not have powers to investigate the crime. The Nigeria Police Force, EFCC, ICPC, and so on are the only bodies that have powers to investigate the crime. That matter has to be investigated and if a prima facie case is established, then that person can be taken to court. Nigerians must just be patient." https://politicsngr.com/2017/10/28/reasons-buhari-remains-silent-corruption-cases-presidency/

The Anambra State governorship election fixed for 18th November this year expectedly topped the agenda at the first quarterly consultative meeting of the Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs), held at the Independent National Electoral Commission’s headquarters, Abuja on 28th September. But the Commission’s Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu also seized the opportunity to inform the audience that the timetable and schedule of activities for the end-of-tenure governorship elections of Ekiti and Osun states would be announced on 5th October, in accordance with the Commission’s tradition of giving all stakeholders ample time to prepare. The announcement is coming on the heels of a similar declaration earlier in March, that the next Presidential and National Assembly elections would hold on 16th February 2019, while the Governorship, State Assembly and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections was scheduled for 2nd March. PoliticsNGR gathered that the INEC helmsman also gave an update on the on-going Continuous Voter Education (CVR) exercise that began in March this year. He said: “So far, 2,786,405 citizens have registered in the ongoing CVR, out of which 1,619,513 (representing 58%) are male, while 1,166,892 (representing 42%) are female. In addition, 108,752 unclaimed Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) were collected. The Commission has also recorded 132,431 requests for transfer from original places of registration to new locations, as well as 261, 429 requests for replacement of PVCs that were damaged, defaced or had wrong entries of personal and other details.” Prof. Yakubu also told the RECs that the Commission’s important responsibility “is the conduct of free, fair and credible elections.” He observed that since the time the RECs were sworn-in, the Commission had conducted a number of by-elections, “ the latest being the Dukku North State Constituency in Gombe state.” According to him, “the next by-election is the Eti-Osa State Constituency in Lagos State this weekend.” He added: “Only yesterday (27th September), we received the official declaration of vacancy by the Speaker of the House of Representatives for the Kware/Wamakko Federal Constituency in Sokoto State. The Commission will conduct the by-election before the end of October. The timetable and schedule of activities will be released next week.” The INEC Chairman assured Nigerians that the Commission would continue to explore ways to improve on the processes associated with the CVR exercise. http://politicsngr.com/2017/09/30/2019-almost-3-million-nigerian-registered-voters-card-inec/

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has called on Nigerians to use the 57th Independence Anniversary to completely detach themselves from the uncontrollable lies of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Addressing market women at the Mile 1 Market in Port Harcourt on Saturday after inspecting ongoing projects, Governor Wike said that the APC has failed Nigerians and there is no need giving them another chance. He regretted that APC promised Nigerians several projects, but none has been actualized after more than two years in office. Governor Wike pointed out that the Mile 1 being built by his administration was one of the failed promises of the immediate past APC administration in the state. He said: "APC is a party founded on lies and deceit. They make promises without any intention to keep the promises. They lie without remorse. "Take this Mile One market for instance. The immediate past APC administration in the state promised to construct the market, but they failed the market women. We promised to build the market and work is progressing." The governor said upon completion of the market, the administration will not allow street trading in that axis. "I want to inform you that when we finish this market, street trading will not be allowed along this road. This market will accommodate all of you", he said. He charged the market women to observe basic sanitation and support the contractors to deliver on schedule. He said the market will come on stream by next year. Governor Wike inspected ongoing completion work at Woji-Akpajo Bridge and road, Dualization of Elelenwo-Akpajo Road, Slaughter Road, Garrison-Trans-Amadi-Elelenwo Road, Produce House And Mile One Market . http://politicsngr.com/2017/09/30/independence-day-detach-apc-wike-tells-market-women/ cc: lalasticlala, mynd44

Former vice president and chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress has detailed reasons for saying that Northern Nigeria was not prepared for the restructuring of the Nation. In a statement signed by his media aide, Mazi Paul Ibe, obtained by PoliticsNGR, the former VP pointed out that restructuring was not just a northern issue but a challenge of nationhood that cannot be sept under the carpet. Atiku came under fire recently for saying that those who opposed the restructuring of Nigeria were lazy. The statement, however, clarified the position of the politician pointing out that he was referring to the Lazy elite who opposed restructuring because of political power they perceived as a permanent source of economic advantages. "Atiku Abubakar is a Nigerian of northern origin. If he puts down the North, doesn’t he put himself down? His value as a person is irrevocably tied to that of Nigeria and the region that God chose to originate him from. It is a historical fact that northern Nigeria, and more specifically, the Kanem Bornu Empire and southern Nigeria, more specifically, the ancient Benin Kingdom, are the birthplace of some of the oldest civilisations on earth. What does that teach us? It teaches us that the North and the South have a great history which should be a stepping stone to an even greater future. Northern Nigeria can learn from other regions, just as other regions can learn from northern Nigeria. Northern and southern Nigeria are in symbiosis with each other, not competition," he said. http://politicsngr.com/2017/09/26/attacked-restructuring-atiku/ cc: lalasticlala, mynd44

Ovation publisher, Dele Momodu has debunked a report that he was deceived by APC chieftain, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor of Ogun state, Ibikunle Amosun to support President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential elections. Momodu, took to Twitter on Sunday to state that he voted president Buhari our of his own volition adding that he would wait for 4 years before scoring him. He wrote; "My attention has been drawn to a message on social media claiming I said Tinubu & Amosun misled me into supporting BUHARI. Such stupid lie! I don't blame others for decisions I took of my own volition. Even if BUHARI is facing challenges, I owe him four years before scoring him! There was never a time I discussed BUHARI with TINUBU or AMOSUN; I, like many Nigerians, got fed up with PDP and it was as simple as that! In a true democracy, mistakes are corrected every election cycle & I will be patient enough for four years before knowing if BUHARI FAILED!" http://politicsngr.com/2017/09/24/tinubu-amosun-not-deceive-support-buhari-dele-momodu/ cc: lalasticlala, mynd44
