Reps member, Abdulmumin Jibrin on friday, stormed the Federal high court in Abuja to protest his suspension from the House of representatives. Jibrin who was the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation was suspended 7 months ago after accusing the House of reps leadership of Budget padding. The embattled reps member was in the company of his constituents and his lawyers numbering about 30 including his lead counsel, Femi Falana (SAN). Presiding Judge, Justice Tsoho, after hearing arguments for and against an application filed by two members of the House, Rep. Nicholas Ossai, and Rep. Oker Jev, fixed May 10th as the day to determine whether or not to put on hold, proceedings in the suit instituted by Rep. Abdulmumuni Jibrin challenging the legality of his suspension. Counsel to the lawmakers, Mr. Akeem Kareem, told the court that they had already filed a notice of appeal against the ruling of the court delivered on April 13, which prevented them from joining the suit as interested parties. The lawmakers’ counsel said that they were dissatisfied with the ruling of the court. The position of the two lawmakers in seeking the stay of proceedings was supported by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, and the House of Representatives. Jibrin’s counsel, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), asked the court to discountenance the motion for stay of proceedings. He said this was on the grounds that those seeking to stop the substantive matter had no “locus standi” (business) to do so. http://politicsngr.com/2017/04/29/jibrin-storms-high-court-30-lawyers-challenge-suspension-photos/

The prosecution witness, Mr. Musa Ujah revealed to the court that the money was paid into his account which he later transferred to the company's account. Although he confessed he did not have an idea the purpose of the payment, he said no goods or services were rendered to or received from "NIGEL AND COLIVE INCORPORATED" that warranted the transaction. Obi, SAN, did not object when the prosecution counsel sought to tender the statement of account as an exhibit which Godwin Obla was a signatory. The defense counsels however asked the court for an adjournment as to enable them file and serve their new intended applications after they both withdrew the pending applications that would allow both defendants travel out of the country for medical treatment and check. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday, April 28, 2017 arraigned a deputy chief registrar of the Ibadan Judicial Divison of Oyo State High Court, Mutiat Omobola Adio, before Justice S. Olagunju of the Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan on a 2-count charge of fraud to the tune of N9.2million. Adio allegedly collected the said sum as payment for a property located at Plot 10, Block XXIV, Bashorun Estate, Ibadan, sold to one Yekini Olonade, but failed to surrender the title documents of the property to him. Efforts of the victim to either recover the money or have possession of the property yielded no result. The offense is contrary to Section 1 (2) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the same Act. One of the counts reads: “That you, Ms Mutiat Omobola Adio on or about the 19th of December, 2016, at Ibadan within the Ibadan judicial Division of this Honourable court with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of Nine million and Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N9,200,000,00) only from one Alhaji Yekini Olonade through Kunle Abimbola by falsely pretending that it was part payment of the cost price of a building and land situate, lying and being at plot 10, Block XXLV, Bashorun Estate, Lagelu Local Government Area, Ibadan which you purported to have sold to him”. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. In view of her plea, counsel to EFCC, Oluwatoyin Owodunni, asked the court to fix a date for the prosecution to present its witnesses and for the remand of the defendant in prison custody pending trial. But, Adio’s counsel, T. O. Moneke, prayed the court for a short adjournment to enable her file application for bail of the defendant.Consequently, Justice Olagunju adjourned to May 5, 2017, for the hearing on the bail application. “The defendant is to be remanded in prison custody”, the judge ordered. http://politicsngr.com/2017/04/28/court-official-remanded-prison-custody-n9-2-million-fraud-photos/ cc : lalasticlala

The re-arraignment of Sule Lamido, a former governor of Jigawa State, and others by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, before Justice Babatunde O. Quadri of the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja was on April 26, 2017 stalled with fresh motions by Lamido's counsel, Joe Agi, SAN, who is seeking the return of the case to the former trial judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola. The prosecution had after the arraignment of Lamido alongside his sons: Aminu Sule Lamido; Mustapha Sule Lamido; Aminu Wada Abubakar and their companies, Bamaina Holdings Limited and Speeds International Limited, in 2015, called 18 witnesses in support of its claim against the defendants. However, further hearing on the case was stalled following the suspension of t Justice Ademola, by the National Judicial Council, NJC, for alleged breach of professional ethics. Consequently, the case was reassigned to Justice Quadri and trial had to start de novo. However, the re-arraignment of the defendants slated for Tuesday, April 11, 2017, could not go on as planned following an application by Agi urging the Chief Judge of Nigeria, CJN, to return the case to Justice Ademola following his acquittal by Justice Jude Okeke on the corruption charges preferred against him by the federal government. Agi argued that it was in the interest of justice and fair hearing to hear his application, which was brought pursuant to Section 98 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015. “My Lord, justice and fair hearing, according to our constitution includes the determination of rights within a reasonable time. The matter commenced two years ago, in 2015. The prosecution had already called 18 witnesses. It would be most unfair and bring undue hardship to the defendants for the matter to begin again and take another two years. Therefore, we humbly apply that your Lordship exercise your power by referring the matter back to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, for reassignment to Honourable Justice Ademola for a conclusion of hearing”, Agi pleaded. At this point, Justice Quadri confirmed the receipt of a copy of the letter addressed to the CJN applying for reassignment of the case and showed same to the prosecution. M.S. Abubakar, counsel to EFCC, opposed the application arguing that the defense ambushed them by not putting them on notice, after applying to the CJN. Both counsels subsequently agreed to return on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, for further mention pending further directive from the CJN. At resumed hearing, Agi notified the court of his intention to file another motion challenging the power of the CJN to transfer the matter to Justice Quadri for hearing. Citing Section 98 of the ACJA 2015, Agi argued that, “The CJN does not have the power to transfer a criminal matter in which witnesses have already been called. At the time I wrote to the CJN, I had not taken consideration of this provision. This is no longer an administrative matter. The law says he cannot do what he has done in this case and it is my duty to bring this to the notice of the court.” Responding, Abubakar submitted that the motion made does not qualify as a legal submission. He stated that the seal on the document expired on March 31, 2017, thereby rendering the document invalid. He urged the court to proceed with the arraignment pending further directives by the CJN. Justice Quadri, thereafter, adjourned to Wednesday, May 3, 2017, for hearing on the application. http://politicsngr.com/2017/04/27/ex-gov-sule-lamido-stalls-trial-seeks-re-arraignment-fresh-charges/ cc : lalasticlala

Ijeoma’s ordeal started after a petition was written to the commission alleging that sometime in 2014, he approached the complainant (General Overseer) with a business proposal to help raise funds to finance the importation of insecticide/ pest sprayer from the USA, to the tune of N10m, with a promise to pay back within three months, after the sale of the products. Akwa Ibom State Governor Mr. Udom Emmanuel has lauded the decision of the federal government to resuscitate the Aluminium Smelta Company (Alscon) at Ikot Abasi Local Government Area and other moribund national assets in the country. Governor Emmanuel gave the commendation while exchanging views with the Minister of Mines and Steel Development Dr. Kayode Fayemi, who called on him at Government House, Uyo. He expressed appreciation to the Federal government for inclusion of Alscon among the national assets to be revived describing the company as a fantastic facility with inherent potential for generating revenue, employment and growing the country's economy. His words: "... the minister's visit today underscores the seriousness of the Federal government at resuscitating the ailing Aluminium Manufacturing Company. This gesture is highly commendable and applauded by the government and people of the state because such a fantastic revenue and employment generating asset can not be left to rot just like that " He pointed out that facilities at the company were in good shape and that the country stands to derive a whole lot of benefit in view of the value chain derived from the industry. The Governor lauded the decision of Dr. Kayode to undertake an assessment of ailing national assets across the country with a view to effecting rehabilitation describing the tour as a bold step to diversify the economy and get the country out the present recession. Mr. Emmanuel passionately requested the Federal government to establish a clay Refinery in the state explaining that the state has the best quality of clay deposit which would produce excellent ceramic products and assured the Minster of a ready market for the products. He said, " the state is blessed with seven types of good quality clay which can produce quality ceramics and allied products. We have other solid minerals which I believe your further survey would reveal. I don't want to ask for too much, revive Alscon, give me the Clay Refinery, the rest can go to other states. The market will evolve immediately the product is available after all consumption is the function of availability" Governor Emmanuel told the Minister that his administration has fashioned out a roadmap for industrialization of the state by setting up a foreign Direct Investment Committee to scout for investors and guide them in their operations, provide adequate security, excellent infrastructure and enabling legislation to guarantee smooth business operation. Earlier, Dr. Kayode Fayemi said that he was in the state as part of his study tour of national assets in the country to ascertain the true state of Aluminium Smelta Company which has been grounded for a while. He explained that the company has been caught up by series of litigation which frustrates effort at bringing it back to operation regretting that the country has been denied the potential benefits of its products hence the decision of the federal government to undertake its rehabilitation. Dr. Fayemi indicated that diversification of the country 's economy would not make a headway if the ailing national assets are not rehabilitated for optimal use adding that the present administration has earmarked intervention fund for the solid mineral sector as well as access 150 Million US Dollars from World Bank to revitalize ailing national Assets. Dr Kayode Fayemi who was accompanied on the visit by Minister of Abubakar Bawa Bwari, said the visit would afford them opportunity to explore ways of cooperation with the state in the development of solid minerals and particularly commended the industrialization drive of the state administration assuring that "Aluminium Smelta Company would come alive in the shortest possible time" The highpoint of the visit was the presentation of souvenir by Governor Emmanuel to the Ministers Dr. Kayode Fayemi and Abubakar Bwari witnessed by the Deputy Governor Mr. Moses Ekpo, Secretary to the State Government Sir Etekamba Umoren, Commissioner for Environment and Mineral resources, Dr. Iniobong Essien and his works counterpart, Mr. Ephraim Inyang. http://politicsngr.com/2017/04/26/establish-clay-refinery-resuscitate-alscon-governor-udom-tells-fg/ cc : lalasticlala

Count one of the charge read: That you Fidelia Omoile on or about the month of March, 2015 at Asaba within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did Conspire among yourselves to receive cash payment in the sum of N 112,480,000.00 (One Hundred and Twelve Million, Four Hindered and Eighty Thousand Naira only) exceeding the statutory limit without going through a financial institution and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 18 (a) of the Money laundering (Prohibition) Act 2012 as amended and punishable under Section 15 (3) and (4) of the same Act. Count two of the charge read: That you Fidelia Omoile on or about the month of March, 2015 at Asaba within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did receive cash payment in the sum of N112,480,000.00 (One Hundred and Twelve Million, Four Hindered and Eighty Thousand Naira only) exceeding the statutory limit without going through a financial institution and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1 (a) of the Money laundering ( Prohibition) Act 2012 as amended and punishable under Section 16 (b) and (4) of the same Act. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to her. In view of her plea, prosecution counsel, Sadiq Hussaini, asked for a trial date and sued that the defendant be remanded in prison custody. However, counsel for the defendant, K. O Obamogie, made an oral application for bail of his client and urged the court to grant his prayers. Hussaini opposed his prayers. In his ruling, Justice Abang turned down the defendant' s application for bail, directing that the application be filed formally. He also adjourned the matter to 6 June 2017 for hearing and ordered the defendant to be remanded in prison custody pending the determination of her bail. http://politicsngr.com/2017/04/24/justice-abang-remands-inec-staff-prison-custody-taking-n112-million-bribe/

The attention of the National Caretaker Committee led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi, CON, has been drawn to another insulting and baseless accusation by one Mr. Cairo Ojugboh wherein he declared that the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff renegade group “will not accept stolen monies from Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State and Chief Nyesom Wike of Rivers State”. For the umpteenth time, we want to reiterate that Mr Ojugboh, the former National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has no locus to speak in the capacity of Deputy National Chairman of the PDP. He is an interloper and an impostor; and as such, any action or statement made by Cairo Ojugboh and other self-appointed members of the Sheriff renegade group is illegal, null and void and should be disregarded by all loyal supporters and members of the PDP. Let these irritants take note that Governors Fayose and Wike and indeed all Governors elected on the Platform of our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are men of integrity. Our Governors are responsible and trusted Party men that are working tirelessly in their various states to deliver the needed dividends of democracy. The people of Rivers State and Ekiti State can testify to the wonderful achievements of our Governors in their states and other states governed by the PDP. Again, regarding the purported campaign or mobilisation by the non-existing National Working Committee under Senator Sheriff, we wish to further state without any ambiguity that its actions are illegal, null and void. Faithful Party men and women in the South East and any other zones in Nigeria should disregard such meetings or gathering. The National Caretaker Committee led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi has appealed the Judgment of February 17, 2017, at the Supreme Court and in the eyes of the law, until the Appeal is set aside by the Supreme Court, the National Caretaker Committee remains in charge of the affairs of the PDP. So, Senator Sheriff and his co-travellers have no power to call for any meeting of Party members or supervise the affairs of the PDP forthwith. We, therefore, want to further call on Senator Ali Modu Sheriff to stop parading himself as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). We further call on all security agencies and other agencies of government to stop according him or members of his illegal team any support or assistance. Finally, We urge all our members and teeming supporters nationwide to stop attending any meeting organise by Senator Ali Modu Sheriff or any member of his team. They are illegal and have no place to function as such. Senator Ahmed Makarfi led National Caretaker Committee remains the only authentic National Exco of the PDP in line with the Decision of the May 21st and August 17, 2016, National Conventions of our great Party. The Lagos State Government on Sunday commiserated with the families of four Police Officers and one Army Captain that lost their lives in Ishawo area of Ikorodu after an ambush unleashed on them by militants. The gallant officers were killed after successfully rescuing kidnapped victims kept in the riverine area by the militants. In a reaction issued on Sunday by the State's Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, the government described the incident as unfortunate but insisted that it would only strengthen its resolve to root crime and criminalities out of the State. The statement said Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was deeply touched and condoled with the families and loved ones of the departed officers. "The Governor, however, assures the Police and the general public of his support and commitment to rid the State of every form of militancy, kidnappings, and illegal waterfront shanties that harbour criminals," Ayorinde said. Specifically, the State Government stressed that the unfortunate incident in Ishawo had further reinforced its resolve to go after criminal elements and their collaborators who are using coastal areas and illegal waterfront settlements as havens or escape routes to perpetrate evil and criminal activities. It added that every perpetrator directly or remotely linked to the Ishawo dastardly act would be brought to justice in the shortest possible time. "We wish to solicit the understanding and support of the public on the need to rid our waterways of illegal shanties that are not only an eyesore to our collective decency but have become a fertile ground for breeding illicit and illegal activities that constitute danger to the security and wellbeing of the larger public,” the government said. http://politicsngr.com/2017/04/09/ishawo-killings-lagos-commiserates-police-families/ cc :: lalasticlala

Operatives of Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command, have arrested a driver who connived with three other persons to divert 600 bags of flour belonging to his employers, before dismembering the truck for sale in pieces. The suspect, Garuba Lawal, 36, from Kwara State, connived with three others (now at large) to divert 600 bags of flour to Sagamu, Ogun State. The product was sold to a buyer, while he took the truck to Ilorin, Kwara state, where it was dismembered and sold in pieces. Garuba, who was recruited by the company (name withheld) the same day he was told to move the 600 bags of flour to a bakery in Ibadan, Oyo State, was baited with N2 million by his accomplices to do their bidding. The suspect, in his statement to the police, disclosed that after loading on Sunday at the Nigeria Flour Mills in Apapa, a young man, whose name was later given as Ismaila from Oyo State, approached him for a discussion. “He invited me close to my truck just as I was about to drive it out of the loading bay. He asked me how much I have made in my life since I have been driving truck. I replied him that I just joined the haulage company…. He asked again, have you ever seen money in your life? I said no. He asked me again "if you see N2 million, what would you do with it?" I answered him that I would quit this truck driving job. Then, he told me that he would introduce me to a deal. That was how we started.” Garuba continued, “While his two other colleagues were waiting in the Toyota Corolla they brought. He took me to a corner and brought a cowrie. He told me that I would have to swallow the cowrie as a sign of bond that anybody that divulge the secret between us would die instantly…. I took the cowrie and swallowed it. Immediately I did that, I observed that whatever instruction he gave me, I was just obeying it without a second thought.” According to sources, Garuba, in the company of the three accomplices diverted the 600 bags of flour to Sagamu instead of its scheduled destination on a Sunday night. They got to Sagamu around 2:25 a.m on Monday. “We entered Sagamu. It was very early in the morning and I couldn’t identify anywhere so much. All along, they acted as escorts for the truck to Sagamu. One of them was in the truck with me because the motor-boy didn’t follow us,” he stated. The source added that at Sagamu, Garuba was informed that the head of the truck had to be removed for a small one because it could not enter the warehouse the goods were to be offloaded. “We put a new truck head and they gave me N50,000. We agreed that I drive the truck head to Kwara State in the company of two other members of the team to sell it off…. We got to Ilorin around 7:15 a.m. on Monday. I took the two guys to where I live with my wife. They promised to return with my share on N2 million as soon as the bank is opened. They collected N15,000 for hotel accommodation from the N50,000:00 they gave me…. When I didn’t see them that day and the following day, I agreed with a buyer to knock down the truck into pieces. The tyres, engine, radiator, chassis, etc for N450,000. After we had dismembered it, the Rapid Response Squad Lagos arrested me,” he further noted. Sources at the haulage firm disclosed that they were yet to see the motor-boy that followed him on the said trip. This has fuelled the suspicion that the motor-boy might have been killed by the gang to pave way for a seamless execution of their plans. Garuba insisted that the motor-boy didn’t follow them on the trip. The motor boy’s phone has remained switched off since the incident. An investigation revealed that the gang that diverted the flour has been involved in several other diversions of products. Arrested along with him were Jimoh Adeleye, Wasiu Azeez and Adeniran Jacob. Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Olarinde Famous Cole, said that there would be no hiding place for those who come to Lagos to perpetrate crimes, adding that the police would fish them out of their hiding. All the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution. http://politicsngr.com/2017/04/09/driver-arrested-diverting-600-bags-flour-sells-off-truck/ cc : lalasticlala

A national youth corper is currently languishing at the Kiri-Kiri medium prison in Apapa, Lagos after a failed N3.5 million investment in Twinkas and MMM Ponzi schemes. Politics Nigeria discovered that the corper, a 2016 Batch B member of the National youth service corps, was arrested and arraigned for embezzlement after operators of the Ponzi schemes failed to return the money, which belonged to the company where he was doing his service. The young man had hoped to make a quick profit at the end of his service only to end up disappointed. His employers wasted no time in inviting the police into the matter after he failed to return the money. His plight was made public by a colleague, a lawyer, who missed the last community development service (CDS) and took advantage of the group’s WhatsApp platform to explain his absence. The lawyer, Augustine Ukpo, wrote: “I was in court representing our Corper member colleague who was arrested and arraigned today before the Agbomalu Magistrate Court involved in N3.5 million embezzlement from his PPA (Place of Primary Assignment).” Giving an update the next day, corper Ukpo wrote on the same platform: “I earlier posted you guys that one (of) our Corper colleague(s) was arrested and arraigned yesterday. He is now in Kirikiri Medium Prison pending the perfection of his bail conditions. While interviewing the corper member, I noticed bruises all over his body – evidence that he was beaten. He was kept in police custody for more than 24 hours. These got me furious as a lawyer. Even though the corper agreed that he used the money for MMM and Twinkas, his fundamental right should not be compromised. In this vein, I shall be filing a fundamental right action against the employer of the Corper. Corper Ukpo refused to disclose the name of his client but posted photos showing signs of torture allegedly inflicted on him in a police cell before he was transferred to prison custody. http://politicsngr.com/2017/04/09/corper-remanded-kirikiri-prisons-using-employers-n3-5m-mmm-twinkas/ cc : lalasticlala

Officers of the Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun state, on Tuesday 4th April 2017, seized a refrigerated Iveco truck conveying contraband goods into the Country. Politics Nigeria learnt that the items discovered in the intercepted truck were; seven hundred and twenty two (722) cartons of imported frozen fish comprising of soley fish, senrei fish of which they fall under water pelagic fishes (open-sea fishes), fifty-six (56) bags of imported rice of 50kg. The goods, in summary, have a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of Ten Million Five Hundred and Seventy-Three Thousand Naira (N10, 573, 000.00). Briefing the press on the success of the interception, the Area Controller, Comptroller Gangua said, it is pertinent to note that frozen fish has recently come under regulated product in Nigeria with vivid guidelines which every fish importer must fulfil before he or she can embark on an importation of such. “For the avoidance of doubt, apart from fulfilling all import guidelines, there must be a fishing license/permit from Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development by importing company and such importation must be subjected to National Agency for Food Administration and Control (NAFDAC) inspection/certification among others. Pursuant to the Federal Government Policy on fish importation, the Nigeria Customs Service is working assiduously at ensuring that our dear country is not turning into a dumping ground for not only fish but other restricted items. On contravention of the aforementioned rules and guidelines as contained in the government policies and extant circulars, the goods have been seized and the frozen fish will be destroyed accordingly. I will like to seize this opportunity to reiterate my appeal to the traditional rulers and eminent personalities in the state to deploy all necessary mechanism in discouraging the activities of their wards that indulge in smuggling. We believe that patriotism entails sacrifice and devoted service to our beloved nation”. A suspect by name Mr Seseh Idowu a native of Benin Republic has been apprehended in connection with the seizure and he is helping the Command with some useful information. http://politicsngr.com/2017/04/09/nigerian-customs-impound-772-cartons-frozen-fish/

-Urges Him to Emulate Wike On Security, Dev. Models As Prominent Nigerians from within and outside Rivers State, including Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, continue to visit the State and join Governor Nyesom Wike on projects tour, the Chairman, Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bro Felix Obuah, has extended an invitation to the Benue State Governor, Mr. Samuel Ortom, for similar undertaking across the State. The PDP Chairman, while commending the Vice President, Prof. Osinbajo, other Governors, Senior citizens, religious and political leaders, who have made out time in spite of their tight schedules to come and see for themselves the developmental projects in Rivers State, particularly lauded similar visits by some All Progressives Congress, APC, Governors, who have demonstrated high spirit of patriotism and statesmanship during such visits and tours of completed and ongoing projects embarked upon by Gov Wike across the State. Bro Obuah noted that apart from the landmark peace and security in the State, which is largely a product of the various deliberate and committed efforts and successful amnesty programme of Governor Wike, Port-Harcourt, the State capital, and its environs now wear a new look, following the Operation Keep Rivers State Clean initiative of the current administration through the Rivers State Waste Management Agency, RIWAMA. In addition to this, Obuah maintained, infrastructural, human capacity and institutional development have been top priorities of the Gov Wike administration for which Rivers people, residents and business operators in the State are happy about. Obuah however expressed grave concern over the insecurity leading to continued loss of lives of innocent citizens in Benue State under the watch of Mr. Ortom, noting that any government worth its salt should be able to provide security for lives and property of its citizens, a great feat that the Wike administration has achieved, even in the face of apparent distractions and politicization of insecurity by the opposition party in the State. The PDP Chairman believes that visiting Rivers State and embarking on tour of developmental projects will avail Gov Ortom the opportunity to tap from Gov Wike’s wealth of experience and success story. “This is a passionate invitation to Mr. Ortom, which should not be taken for granted”, Obuah insisted. “No man knows it all. If your style of leadership does not work, learn and adopt Gov Wike’s proactiveness in governance”, Obuah stated. He listed some completed and ongoing projects across the three senatorial districts of the State to include the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo Unity Road, Birabi Memorial Grammar School, Bori, Sakpenwa-Bori Road, Ecumenical Centre, Federal High Court, Civic Centre, Dredging and Reclamation work at Ogbunabili/Nkpogu Location, Nkpogu Bridge, Trans-Amadi Road, Woji Akpajo Bridge, Slaughter Road, Port Harcourt Pleasure Park, Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Rumigbo, Igbo-Etche road, Airport-Ipo-Omademe Road, General Hospital, Ahoada, Reconstruction of Edeoha-Ikata-Ochigba road, Ahoada-East LGA, General Hospital, Abua, General Hospital, Abonnema, General Hospital, Buguma, Zonal Hospital, Degema and General Hospital Omoku, Abonnema Link Road, Street and Traffic Lights, construction of New Jetties, amongst several others. “To end the pains of our brothers, sisters and fellow countrymen in Benue State, we call on Gov Samuel Ortom to visit Rivers State and tap from Governor Wike’s security and developmental projects concept and expertise,” Obuah stressed, appealing to him to stop the media noise and take governance seriously. Obuah regretted that the Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, was unable to pay monthly salaries of civil servants running into several months, after borrowing over N60 billion in 7 months. http://politicsngr.com/2017/03/27/ortomwike-feud-rivers-pdp-chairman-invites-gov-ortom-rivers-state-projects-tour/

In what has become a disgusting obsession with Benue and the current Governor of the State, Samuel Ortom, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, in the March 27, 2017 edition of Daily Sun, called for probe of his Benue State counterpart over Paris Club refund. He also lied that he is constructing two roads in Benue State. We find the two issues not only laughable but also diversionary. Governor Wike is apparently trying to use Benue to divert attention from the gross failure of governance and stinking corruption being witnessed in Rivers State. We hasten to state that Governor Wike is not constructing roads in any part of Benue State. We challenge him to publish evidence of the two roads he claims to be constructing in the state. Benue people are witnesses to the fact that the government run by Rivers Governor's political party, PDP abandoned 11 roads across Benue State. Governor Ortom has since assumption of office deployed funds and mobilized the contractors back to site. Some of the road projects have already been completed and others are at different stages of completion. Governor Ortom has also awarded six new road contracts in different parts of the state and more are being considered by the State Executive Council for approval inspite of lean resources. It is therefore ridiculous that Governor Nyesom Wike, a man who is clearly not interested in the development of his state; a man who is believed to be sponsoring thugs and cultists to occupy public offices; a man who has never won a free and fair election; a man who publicly swears with a sword in his hand to slaughter opposition members; a man who has no known antecedent of positive thinking; a man notorious for looting of public funds; a man who, since assumption of office has been on a voyage of destruction of education, health and economic structures built by his predecessor has now become an advocate of development and probity in another state. Governor Wike's call for the probe of last December's Paris Club refund to Benue is a poor diversionary tactic. It is on record that Governor Samuel Ortom was the first to declare the Paris Club refund to Benue and stated specifically how much the state was expecting many weeks before the funds came in. When the N12.7 billion was released to the state, the Governor made it public including the disbursement for workers' salaries. Governor Wike on the other hand has not made known to Rivers people the amount the state received as the first tranche of the refund. That's what he is expected to have done before calling for probe of the refund in Benue. Governor Wike's recent interest in affairs of other states including Benue, is a clear manifestation of an idle governor. It is an indication that unlike his counterpart in Benue, Governor Wike has so much time not only to spend planning how to rig the next election, divert public funds but also how to distract busy governors of other states. But what else does one expect from a governor who has abandoned governance? A quick look at Governor Wike's performance shows the demolition of a market at Mile One Flyover, Port Harcourt without making alternative arrangements for the relocation of the affected traders. Two of the traders died as a result of shock because they were not allowed to move their wares before the demolition. Examples of abandoned projects under Wike are the Kpobie-Bodo road, Sakpenwa-Bori road dualization, Bonny Jetty modernization, Phase Two of Mile One Market and renovation of 13 General Hospitals in the state. Work has stopped on all the named projects without explanation from a government that receives some of the highest allocations from the federation account. On corruption, only recently, a joint police panel that investigated violence during the re-run elections in Rivers State, indicted 23 electoral officers of INEC of receiving bribes from Governor Wike to enable the PDP win the polls. Also, several Supreme Court justices and judicial officers are either facing trial or being investigated for receiving bribes from Governor Wike to influence the judgment of the Apex Court which upheld his election as governor. Once more, we challenge Governor Wike to publish the evidence that he is constructing two roads in Benue State as he claimed. That a governor would abandon the provision of critical infrastructure in his state and make sweeping claims of constructing roads in another state without the knowledge of the beneficiaries and regard to the federal structures indeed indicates that Governor Wike needs deliverance from demonic influence that seem to be taking over his senses. http://politicsngr.com/2017/03/27/wike-needs-deliverence-demonic-influences-gov-ortom-explodes/ cc : lalasticlala

Senate president, Bukola Saraki appeared before the senate's committee on Ethics, Privileges and public petitions to clarify his position on allegations that he ordered the illegal importation of a bulletproof Range Rover sports utility vehicle for his personal use. Senator Saraki, under oath, denied the allegations adding that his name did not appear anywhere on the importation documents of the vehicle. Also, at the hearing, the importer of the vehicle, Mr. Tokunbo Akindele stated that the vehicle was not cleared for senator Saraki. His statements also tallied with those of the vehicle dealer, Mr. Lanre Shittu who also denied that the bullet-proof SUV belongs to Mr. Saraki, adding that the NASS advertised, they nodded & supplied. http://politicsngr.com/2017/03/27/breaking-importer-says-range-rover-vehicle-not-cleared-saraki/ cc : lalasticlala
