smoothlips: Mulatto is offensive "don't go and call someone Mulatto"
BigRuckus: 'Mulatto' is a more appropriate term, or biracial like tchidi pointed out... 'Half caste' is considered derogatory.
Both Mulatto and Half-caste are offensive. Biracial is definitely the preferred term- that is for those who care to know.
As for the feminism stuff and the surname change, that is for her and her husband to decide. I don't think I'll allow my wife to keep her surname though - she should be proud to adopt mine. But, let me get to that bridge before crossing it.

Christianity EtcRe: Why Is Apostolic Faith Church So Quiet Among The Pentecostal Churches? by itslordmoh: 5:30pm On Sep 21, 2013
Chi Eluse: If your product is good you should be able to advertise it, more so that it has to do with the salvation of souls. If you know that you have better things to offer than other churches you have mentioned then why not flood the media with advertisements. You have that instruction right inside the Bible you claim to be holding.
I want to paste my comments on the other thread about this church here as some of the true reasons why you are quiet may be found there.
"
I dont know if this thread is meant to advertise the Apostolic Faith Church or not and as much as I am not out to criticize those that have painted a picture of perfection of the church, I saw some untruth and hypocrisy in the statements they gave.
I know this church very well, and the fact is that they preach against going to the hospital or taking medication and up till now the doctrine is still being upheld, though we now have more and more of their members contravening that doctrine. Up till now their pregnant women are not expected to visit the hospital and they are made to deliver their babies at home or in the church. As a result many have lost their lives.
It is regarded as sin for you to have TV at home, and before you are made an officer in the church it will be investigated if you have TV at home. If you do you can remain an ordinary member of the congregation for life.
You cannot marry from outside the church, you are virtually excommunicated.
The fact that some members of the church deny all these goes a long way to tell how secretive the church is. And am sure that doesnt portray
holiness at all.
I know about the case someone mentioned earlier of their pastor at akoko who impregnated a girl. There are cases of immorality like this in the church even up till now. A current wave also indicate two of their senior pastors (one in lagos and one in osun)scattering the marriage of their daughters.
I think God wants us to preach the Gospel, to preach Christ, and not the church and the doctrines of men.
The church is not perfect and in fact nowadays among the senior managers of the church are servants of the devil falsely calling themselves servants of God. They have an outward appearance of humility but in them are filthiness of dead men bones.
We all need to turn back to God as the end time is very near, And mind you the Bible says judgement will start from the house of God.
"
I believe alexleo and salt1 addressed those issues in the other thread. What are actually trying to achieve by re-posting this here?
You brought up personal issues like taking medication. You can go to the headquarters of the church in West & Central Africa at Anthony Village or the International headquarters in Portland Oregon. The doctrine is the same: God heals (if you want to take medication or not, that is a personal decision) also Without Holiness, you can't go to Heaven (if a pastor has committed immoral acts, its between him and God. If its confirmed, then he can't be a Pastor in the church). As for advertising, there are a few radio and tv programs. There is definitely development in the way evangelism is carried out but the message of holiness should not be corrupted just because there is a need for more members.I don't know how you could possibly come about the information that the heads of the church are servants of the devil. Did God reveal that to you? Please I would advise you not to make statements you are not sure of. God bless you
Christianity EtcRe: Apostolic Faith Church: Na Wa For This Kind Church by itslordmoh: 5:16pm On Dec 20, 2012
d light: From your description of the church it's a perfect place for a heavenly-minded person but as for the tithe, the bible isn't against tithing but rather commands it. My reservation for the church however has to do with their opposition to the use of drugs I wonder then if they have doctors in their congregation.
We all know that God alone can heal. But expects us to take care of ourselves well instead of temting the devil. Herbs help to take care of our bodies whether in natural or refined forms. That's what we believe in. I still know there are instances though when God heals diseases without taking one pill talkmore of operation. That is not to say we shouldn't seek medicare because God heals through those means as well.

Boomark: It means that the church people should continue to see him as their means of salvation even though all are sinners/fallible including the infallible.
But why exactly do I need a fallible man to get salvation when infallible Jesus paid the price for my salvation on the cross. I think I know a place in the Bible where Jesus says he only is the way the truth and the life. I never heard him say;'As I live, I'm transferring that power to the pope'. Don't to argue but its somehow. #smh

Ubenedictus: and bishops have be known to rebuke popes, well type d name st catherine into google and u will see d story of a woman wu had the habit of rebuking popes. Papal infalliability doesn't say the pope can't be rebuked and it doesnt say d pope is faultless either.
Try another one.
So what exactly does it mean. I'm confused here.

I know that the Church isn't very involved in joint christian or pentecostal programmes and don't allow preachers from other churches to feature in their programs.

PoliticsRe: 2 Hours Shut Down Of Airport For Patience Jonathan Caused The Crash - Breaking by itslordmoh: 12:13am On Jun 06, 2012
It is quite obvious that the First Lady was not the cause of this particular plane crash. Also, we know that the 'VIP' passage ish happens in Nigeria and air crafts have to hover for long periods of time. The VIP passage thing shouldn't take as much time as it takes in Nigeria and should be stopped. The cause of this plane crash is state of the plane. There is no need to spread rumours about our president. We all know that he is a very big disappointment to Nigerians but lying about him is pretty low-down and uncharitable. I suggest the OP removes this thread.
PoliticsRe: Abiola's Family, Oyegun Express Shock, Dissapointment At UNILAG Protests by itslordmoh: 11:51pm On May 30, 2012
The fact is that the protests are a result of popular opinion. Many Nigerians feel that Abiola didn't really have the masses in mind when running for the election. Nigerians wanted anybody but the military and so voted him. Naming a very popular and highly acclaimed university like Unliag after such a man is taken as insulting by many people. Same thing happened in Imo state when the Imo state university was named Evan Enwerem University by the former governor. It is true that the university is not among the Ivy league insitutions in Nigeria and although there were protests, they were relatively small. If an institution is named after Dim Ojukwu for instance, it would not be protested by anyone because he actually is worth immortalizing in such manner. Considering the state of affairs in Nigeria, I would have advised Jonathan not to bring up such a controversial topic. Anyway, the deed is done and we just have to hope for the best.

easier 2 call some 1 names. GEJ inherited war frm yar'adua, boko haram has been b4 d death of yar'adua. He came 2 power when 9ja was already in crisis and some of us promised not 2 alow him settle down 2 do anything. GEJ would start working when sabotours and terrorists drop their evil plans.
You fail to realise that he has been given ample time to remove those saboteurs from administration. If he cannot overcome the challenges he is facing as a president and Nigeria's challenges as a whole, then he isn't fit to be president of our great country.

Christianity EtcRe: Here Are A Few Churches In Nigeria That Still Preaches The Real Message Of God by itslordmoh:
Zikkyy: I want to believe he is a pastor.

And where is the evidence?

Good question, why really do you think people pay tithe? Do you think it’s because they want to spread the gospel? Or do you think it’s because they want to be the next Bill Gates or Warren Buffet?

It was never Christ’s intention that the gospel be expensive, you made it so. Apostle Paul spent very little to spread the gospel. His letters are read by billions of people today in different part of the world. How do you think he achieved it? Do you think Apostle Paul was collecting cash (fraudulently or legitimately) to spread the gospel you read today? Read the bible to discover his approach, adopt it and you might be able to take it further at very little cost.

So you must hoodwink the congregation into supporting/funding your so called gospel. You don’t preach the gospel, instead you teach people to be greedy, selfish, to lust for material wealth e.t.c. If you preach the true gospel, you won’t need tithe to spread it. You know why? People would give (contribute) in excess of what you collect from tithe to meet any need.

And those that don’t pay tithe are also mightily blessed of God. So what exactly are you saying?
Paul's ministry was still financed by some people. Read Phillipians 4:15-19
....when I departed from Macedonia,no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving but ye only.
v 16
for even in Thessalonaica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.
v 17
not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account
v 18
but I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God
v 19
but my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

What I'm saying is simple. Whether we like it or not, money is required for the gospel to grow. Dwelling on the money and not actually preaching the undiluted word of God is bad and should be abhorred. The Bible clearly states that if we fail to bring our tithes to the house of God, then we are robbing Him (Malachi 3 v 8&9). If we obey his commandment, we will be blessed immensely(Malachi 3 v 10).
