Magnoliaa: I thought this thing is just with me o. 😭😭
It happens like that sometimes.
That's why I leave my phone screen on whenever I'm scrolling through Twitter and I have to attend to something. Unlike before when I'll switch off the screen, leave it and come back to continue from where I stopped.
And then videos used you to automatically play when you open them. Now I'll click and click and click on the play button before it starts.
Tweets on your own profile are so scattered, it's hard to track. You will hardly get mentions.
That dude has just been taking Twitter from bad to worse. Imagine how many people have networked off of Twitter. People who needed jobs and prolly had no money and they just pitched to people's DMs. Now you must be subscribed to do so. Mtcheewwww. I have stopped responding to tweets. You can't get any serious engagement without the blue tick. Those with it are pushed to the top. As for the video thing, I always thought it was my network. Good to know I'm not alone |

Elon musk is a "scammer".
Who else has noticed that when you click back, instead of taking you to where you were, it takes you to the top of the tweet and you have to start scrolling down again. This means you're discouraged from clicking on comments under a thread. Makes it more difficult for people to meet 5M impressions. |

GloriousGbola: Look for the nnpc stations with Wayne pumps. The newer Wayne pumps are difficult to tamper with. Nnpc has a policy on pump adjustment (they all do) but it really depends on how easy the pumps meter is to tamper with. Apparently the newer model Wayne pumps are harder to Fk with.
By now you should have gotten the dual carburators for your gen so it can run on lpg. Though lpg is also increasing in price literally every day The NNPC stations here that I've tried are all crooks. No difference. You get better quantity of fuel in some filling stations than you get in NNPC. Some new ones are springing up though. Will confirm the kind of pump they have and try them out. I don't use my generator that much. Only used it once( today) in the last two weeks to watch Liverpools match. Not sure it's worth going the LPG way seeing as the gas is not even cheap as you have noted. |

Ibime: Izzou,, itsrm, this should be why fuel is "evaporating" in the tank. Dem done already mix the ethanol
https://www.nairaland.com/7884819/blending-petrol-ethanol-save-n49 On top of this, they will still adjust their meter. If you take a ten litre keg to five different filling stations to buy ten litres of fuel, the quantity of fuel will be different. When you ask them why the keg is not full, they will say your keg has gotten wide. At least, those in Lagos can point to a couple of filling stations where they don't engage in sharp practices, there's not a single station in PH that is left out. We dey suffer |

Anyway, finally the money enter house matter. In 2020, I had decent amount of money. I wanted to buy stocks at rock bottom prices but decided against it and built a house instead. It was the worst financial mistake of my life. Those stocks have now returned more than 300% since then. Meanwhile, I'm yet to fully collect rent of last year and the current year is almost running out. One day, I will cut my losses and sell off the house. Now I'm fully anti building a house for rent. It's pure waste of money. |

larride: They don't need any incentive. It's a matter of policy. Also CBN is their regulator, their operations will always reflect the policy of the CBN.
The current policy is that IMTOs source for their own dollar. Most of the IMTOs source for dollars from the parallel market. The CBN needs to change that policy.
You'll notice that most of these IMTOs exchange rate always mirror the parallel market rate because that's where they mostly source their forex from. Shey you know there's already a policy that states that IMTOs must not go beyond a set percentage of the I&E window. They are openly flouting it and CBN seems powerless to stop them. So when you ask the CBN to bring them in and they refuse because there's no incentive like I said, the next thing I believe is for CBN to ban them. That will only make the already bad situation worse. People will find alternate ways to move money and it still won't pass through CBN. That's the way I see it. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Itsrm(m): 9:03am On Oct 20, 2023 |
larride: You are not going to have an exporting nation overnight, that is a medium - long term policy planning.
My suggestion is simple, bring all the players into the official market which will stimulate the official market with enough liquidity. Currently there are billions of dollars outside the market that if injected into the official market can stabilize things in the short term.
My suggested solutions are simple
Ban BDC and digitalize all forex transaction, this is to enable the CBN to track all dollar transactions from both demand and supply side. It will also eliminate those who are mopping up dollar for abritage uses. BDC has done more than enough harm to the forex market.
Bring all the IMTOs into the official market, all these players like Sendwave and the likes that operate in cross border payment. This will bring the needed liquidity into the official market as most of the diaspora remittance are through IMTOs. If the CBN can bring them into the official market, it will help with the liquidity that the market badly needed. Only $2bn of diaspora remittance last year pass through the official channel out of over $40bn diaspora remittance.
Lastly they can look for a way to bring crypto exchanges into the official market as well, they can provide regulation framework and all as we have alot of diaspora remittance that comes through crypto also.
These are my own suggested ideas on how these issues can be tackled in the short term. But what is the incentive for the IMTOs? The CBN needs them, what do they need CBN for? |

Theflint1: 500K can barely sustain a family of four trying to live your middle-class life (I for say cannot, but lemme use barely). Cost of feeding, fuel and school fees alone don swallow that 500K finish. The cost of living crisis is very real. Family of four will struggle on a combined income of 500k especially if they live in big cities and the children attend private schools. It doesn't matter how frugal they are. We dey wait for "normalising" like larrides Did I just see intra-day high of 999? Unfortunately, CBN will have to eventually allow it find it's level. They can't keep defending it. It's only a matter of time. I hope no one here still keeps their money in naira. If not for anything, at least, you'll keep the value of your money. The time for blind patriotism is over. |

BlueRayDick: The same way u are making case for Umahi that there’s a gang up against him cos he has interest of the country at heart by building concrete roads; it’s the same way others can make a case that Umahi is only proposing a white elephant project like the airport he built in Eboyin where flights have not been landing for months .
Me I’m not for or against Umahi . All I’m saying is the reps thus far have not erred by temporarily suspending hasty adoption of concrete roads .
Let the Unahi’s proposal be critically scrutinized ; let him provide justification to the house as to the benefits inherent in adopting his proposal . Now let the house also compare it to that of Bitumen roads . Simple ! Well, where I disagree with you is the motive for the suspension. I think brown envelope has exchanged hands. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Itsrm(m): 7:16pm On Oct 19, 2023 |
GloriousGbola: Concrete IS NOT CHEAPER. I saw when they were rebuilding apapa oshodi expressway. All concrete roads have reinforcement. A LOT of reinforcement. And we do not fabricate steel in Nigeria. Some people will get very very rich off concrete roads.
A concrete road definitely costs more per km than a bitumen road.
https://www.perrinconstructionredding.com/blog/2018/9/25/concrete-vs-asphalt-roads-pros-and-cons-of-each You are looking at it wrongly. What you should consider is their lifecycle. If I spend 15k on an extension box that last 10 years, I have spent less money compared to someone who buys an extension box that lasts less than one year but costs 2k. The lifecycle of concrete road is 50 years while bitumen is 15 years. We know that in Nigeria, it lasts a lot less. Ore Benin road was done sometime around 2009-2011. Go and look at some sections of that road today. What of Warri-Mbiama Road? The less said the better. |
