The Presidency on yesterday commended the senate for their opposition to the impeachment plot against President Goodluck Jonathan by some members of the House of Representatives, stating that the issue of attention at moment was to win the war against the insurgency and not to unnecessarily heat up the polity.



In a statement, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, said, “We strongly trust and believe in the leadership of the present Senate and the unwavering patriotism and commitment that have been shown by the distinguished members and we trust that ultimately, it is this tendency towards true nationalism that will prevail in the Senate.

Okupe said the recent purported attempt by some senators to prepare impeachable offences against the president, as reported in some sections of the media, was seen by the presidency in this light.

Accordingly, he said, “It is our view that there are at present, serious fundamental issues of national importance such as winning the war against terrorism and stabilising the economy in the face of dwindling oil revenue which requires the full attention, commitment and swift action of distinguished members of the Senate.”

“We are of the opinion that all political matters can and will be resolved politically in the overall interest of our democracy and the wellbeing of our people.

“We strongly trust and believe in the leadership of the present Senate and the unwavering patriotism and commitments that have been shown by the distinguished members and we trust that ultimately it is this tendency towards true nationalism that will prevail in the Senate.

“It is our view that there are at present, serious fundamental issues of national importance such as winning the war against terrorism and stabilising the economy in the face of dwindling oil revenue which requires the full attention, commitment and swift action of distinguished members of the senate.

Okupe said the Senate in the last four years has conducted its legislative functions and responded to issues that are of great national importance with commendable political sagacity.

He commended the Senate and said it has functioned as a stabilising force within the polity, employing much political maturity that is required to guide and protect the nation’s nascent democracy.

The President’s aide said that confrontation and strong disagreements are not uncommon phenomenon in executive-legislative relationship world-wide. (Thisday)

And when you ask him about dreams, he says, "Whatever you want, honey." Always look at his actions. If there aren't any, if he's all talk, he's not husband material.

4. The "bear with me" guy. He finds nice, logical excuses that seem acceptable. You know, he can't take action now because he's busy with his career, or his weight loss, ior his parents' needs. You name it, and the statement is "Bear with me."

5. The "let's have fun first" guy. He sticks around for the thrill of the game. When the fun is out, he's onto a new adventure and a new thrill. He's not here for future plans or kids or family or even settling down and confiding in one woman. He wants and talks about fun and about sex. Whenever you talk marriage, the face changes, the fun ends, and the statement he repeats is, "You are spoiling the moment," hoping you'lll eventually drop the subject. If you don't, soon he'll be out and about for another thrill.

The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), allegedly banned the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Major General Muhammad Buhari (rtd) from landing in Makurdi, Benue State.

Vanguard collected from a certain source that Buhari, together with his associate was travelling from Bayelsa State to Makurdi to pursue delegates of his party ahead of the APC delegates congress scheduled for December but had their flight barred permit to land in Makurdi Airport.

He said “the flight was earlier granted landing permission but we were all surprised when half an hour to his arrival a counter directive was issued mid-flight thereby forcing the aircraft to head to Abuja.

“What they did was evil and dangerous, what if the plane was low on fuel, what do you think would have happened? Desperation has set into our politics, and it is posing grave danger to our democracy.”

Thee Benue State Chairman of the APC, Comrade Abba Yaro, during the telephone conversation with journalists proved the development describing it as regrettable.

He explained that loyalists of the party who had laid siege at the airport Wednesday morning were disappointed and had to disperse when they learnt of the unfortunate development.

“We will certainly react to this ugly incident because what they have done was not only callous and wicked but also unacceptable in modern day Nigeria.”

[size=21pt]Niger Delta former militants have issued a dire warning to members of the House of Representatives over the alleged plot to impeach President Goodluck Jonathan.[/size]

The warning was contained in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Friday by Pastor Reuben Wilson, President of the Leadership, Peace and Cultural Development Initiative, a body of former leaders of militant camps in the region, ThisDay reports.

He said such move would be seen as a direct attack on the people of the region, stating that the legislators had no moral right to begin any impeachment moves against the president.

The ex-warlords insisted that the House should not start impeachment proceedings against the president over the handling of the defection of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

They sincerely advised the house to shelve any move to impeach the president and assured that they were prepared to resist such moves.

The former warlord, Wilson, who said many Niger Delta people were strongly behind the president, promised that they would take all legitimate steps to resist attempts to embarrass Jonathan.

According to him, following Thursday’s crisis at the National Assembly, the lawmakers have lost the respect of Nigerians, adding that they (ex-militants) were observing the happenings in the country and would take necessary steps at the appropriate time to ensure that the nation’s democracy was not desecrated.

Tsambido Hosea-Abana, the chairman of Chibok community, where nearly 300 girls were abducted in April by Boko Haram insurgents, blasted US President Barack Obama over his recent remarks.

Reacting to Obama’s condemnation of the last week’s attack on Chibok, Hosea-Abana said that they needed the real action in the fight against insurgency, but not words.

A Fulani socio-cultural group known as Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore has revealed that it would mobilise 23 million voters for President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 general elections.

This was made known on Monday in Abuja by the national leadership of the association led by the chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello Bodejo and secretary, Saleh Alhassan Kubah.

Leadership reports that Bodejo claimed that 23 million registered voters belonging to the association have decided to support Mr. President because of his Agricultural Transformation Agenda.

Bodejo further explained that both the ethnic Fulanis and pastoralists have been able to mobilise more than 23 million voters for Jonathan, adding that they have an efficient means of mobilising their kinsmen whom they directed to register in all the places they live and have done so. He said these are the votes they promise President Jonathan in the 2015 general election.
The chairman, who listed the prominent Fulani pastoralists serving in the Jonathan administration to include the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Adamu Mu’azu; the private secretary to the president, Alhaji Umar Tukur; political adviser to the president, Prof. Ahmed Alkali and the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Alhaji Balla Mohammed, distance themselves from involvement in Boko Haram activities. He said they were elated as well as support the agreement reached between government and the sect.

Speaking on the effects of the ongoing Boko Haram insurgency and the continued conflicts between farmers and herdsmen in the country, Bodejo called on government and other relevant stakeholders to immediately wade in and end the violence in the northern region.

Speaking also, Engr. Kubah debunked reports of suspected Fulani herdsmen involving in sectarian crises, especially in Nasarawa and other northern states.

“The crises you spoke about are multi-faceted and stems from the struggle for power in the states. Former IGP, Mohammed Abubakar instituted a high-powered committee comprising of DIGs to unravel the root causes of the crises and they had since submitted their report. The Fulani pastoralists were exonorated but unfortunately were caught up in the political crises,” he said.

Engr. Kubah further explained that the Egon people, unleashed the Ombatse Cult against the Fulanis and others, but following JTF’s intervention, the crises was quickly stemmed. He said what they have left in Nasarawa state is cattle rustlers and miscreants parading themselves as Fulani pastoralists.
He condemned the fact that they (Fulanis) were being victimised and targeted for unnecessary profiling and criminality which he claimed security reports have exempted them from.

It would be recalled that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday, September 18, decided on a sole candidate for 2015 presidential elections, and it is Incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan.

Also a group known as the New Dawn Nigeria (NDN) promised the highest number of votes to President Goodluck Jonathan from the South-West in the 2015 presidential elections.

Why with all the states military hardware including weaponry have not been deploy to fight this war if govt doesn't have a hand in it?

With the informations available to us, boko haram is a game of chess deployed by Jonathan and his cohorts to displace majority of northeastern part of Nigeria from voting in 2015 general elections. This assertion, is widely and common believe amongst many northerners.
