Obatide: Good day fellow members of this Great forum, May God crown all our efforts with success. Thank God for all the success stories we have been hearing, May His name only be praised and I pray that GOD will favour the rest of us. About the issue of Sharing cantacts, I so much like it but we should not Forget the primary purpose of locating this forum, which I think to many, is: to get information which will aid our successful interview whilst Running away from Agents. EVERY BODY COULD REMEMBER his/her FIRST EVER POST/READING ON NAIRALAND as evidence of my claim. In view of this, I suggest we present issues here for different opinion and suggestions (There is safety in multitude of cancel) then PM any member you wished to have personal chat with, this will make the thread grow the more and serves as Reference to future members. However as G2glory points, We should look beyond issues of interview and discuss FLIGHT BOOKING, CARRER IN USA, ACCOMODATION, HOW TO SETTLE IN QUICKLY and so on, to make the forum more lively
on this below, im in for Good
If we can do PART 1, in 9ja now then we plan ahead of 2014 Thanksgiving day in USA and continue from there. may I chip in this; those who have secure their VISA, pls migrate on time so as to settle down fast in other to be our secondary hosts Any more suggestions? @Obatide...very much on point my good brother..... |

ekwynox: Sorry this is coming very late but it is because of some exigencies. My visa was approved yesterday 3rd December. My interview time was 10am. I arrived at the embassy around 9.15am. One of the policemen on duty at the gate almost got me off my foot when I asked the way i should into the embassy. he told me i was already late but i should go and try my luck. On getting to the gate, the attendant there told me that those for 10am appointment are told to wait outside until 9.30am. This gave me a big relief. So before you ask questions, try to ask a reliable source to avoid unnecessary panic. At 9.30am, we were ushered in under tight security one after the other. The attendant collected my appointment letter and tore off the front page, gave back the remaining pages to me. She also gave me a blue card and some papers for payment. Please, try and keep those papers intact. They will ask for it later. From that point, i passed through four security gate, the last one being an automated scanner. Please avoid coming to the embassy with powder, liquids, make-ups, snacks, metal objects and phones because you won't be allowed to take them in and disposing of such may cause you some panic. I dropped my phones and other gadgets at home before coming. At the last door, i was issued a number B429. After some time, my name was called and i was asked to go and make payments before the submission of documents. After that, my documents were submitted and then waited for the interview proper. the interview came around past eleven or some minutes before twelve. Before the interview, i saw the CO, a beautiful black lady, scrutinizing my degree certificate, he even called another CO to help him do that, the man immediately confirmed to him that the seal is for authentication. I think that was because my certificate has some seals from the federal ministry of education, abuja, when i intended going to austria for my masters. Not quite long, my number beeped at that window and the interview went thus: CO: Good morning Me: Good morning CO: Are you blah blah? Me: yes CO: Do you swear to say the truth Mes: Yes, yes CO; ok, sign this form Me: signed CO: i want to take your fingerprints Me: i obliged CO: have you traveled out of Nigeria before? (I know it was because of the seal on all my certificates from the ministry that made her ask that) Me: No, i haven't CO: cool, what is your highest level of education Me: University degree in blah blah blah CO: sorry please, started discussing with another CO, after some time, he called the short form of my first name, nonso. at that point, i suspected she is ibo. when did you finish your university education? Me: 2011 CO: Have you done your NYSC? Me: yes CO: where? Me: blah blah blah CO: What was your primary assignment? Me: Teaching CO: what did you teach? Me: biology and chemistry CO: what was the age of your students? Me: smiles, say between 15 - 18 years, the normal age of ss3 students CO: good. what are you doing now? Me: blah blah blah CO: where? Me: blah blah blah CO: Are you married? Me: No, of course, am single CO: have you any kid? Me: smiles, not all CO: you have satisfied me, you visa has been approved. brought two white papers and started explaining about how to pay USCIS fee and how to pick up visa. I was happy, though i was listening to her but happiness couldn't allow me to hear her well unlike when she was interviewing me.
So, my fellow forumites help me thank God. I equally pray that the God that did it for me will do so for all of you. the VISA is all yours in the mighty name of JESUS! Amen. Congratulations to you! i wish you God's favour in all your preparations IJN - Amen. |

G2Glory: Congratulations my brother. God will definite perfect what He has started in Jesus name.
For others, your testimony shall surely come & we shall celebrate everyone that was selected for DV 2014.
I have a suggestion & if we don't mind. Can we ensure we keep close contact & extend our discussion to post-visa issuance.
We need to get connected more even after visa has been issued. In term of useful advice to help in logistics arrangement to USA. Getting connected with those forumities that already travelled.
Six (6) months is all needed to leave the onshore of Nigeria & relocating to USA will definitely have its associated challenges. It will be good to learn from others & not necessary re-inventing the will. @G2Glory....i am full in support of this suggestion, it's also in line with what Kewve and Obatide suggested earlier. but my concern is; how do we maintain this close contact since we are not allowed to drop personal contact details within the forum? my suggestion: can we open like a group forum in any of the social medial and advise interested members to register ?....there we can exchange personal contact details and discuss more freely? it's just my thinking - others may have better suggestions. |

Darhmee: Hi guys.. so here was how it started.. I did the visa lottery for myself as the principal and my mom as the principal back then. So when my mom won, the only the only thing i have was the confirmation number.. i wasnt sure if i registered my dad and my siblings with her but with faith, we continued the processing. My dad didn't want to go with us because he has businesses he is running here in NIgeria and also, my older brother is over-aged. So, i and my mom decided to do the processing for just the both of us. However, because of the rareness of our case, people said we will be turned down, they said we will be rejected bla bla but i and mom paid them no listening ears.. That really helped!
So today, our interview was for 7am, we got there 5:45am, and at about 6:15, we were told to line up, we did security checks, people's powder, phones, sharp objects, liquid, charger, containers were disposed..(please do not bring any of these with u to the embassy, its an lot of trouble finding how to dispose them).
So at about 8am, we were inside the hall, my mom paid for the both of us and when it was time for submission of document, the woman in charge told my mom to go out and take another passport photograph because the one she has with her was with a blue background. So my mom went out and the cheapest rate she could find for 6 passport photograph was N2000!! Can u imagine?!.
So she brought the passport and while we were submitting our document, the woman asked why my dad wasnt included in the first submission and my mom said it was because he wasn't interested, the woman shook her head! Right there, i had thought we would be rejected.
So at about 10:15, our number beeped on window 17.. the CO was a beautiful and young black American She told us to swear, took our fingerprints and then the conversation below ensued CO: what is ur name ma'am My Mom: xxxx CO: Did u fill the lottery form urself MM: Yes CO: So why is ur sister here with you: MM: She is not my sister, she is my daughter ((we both laughed) CO: OMG.. Im so sorry.. Wow madam.. u look so young and she is gorgeous MM and I: Thank you, u look beautiful too CO:. Who is philip and why is he not going with u MM.. he is my husband and bla bla CO: what is your highest level of education MM.. bla bla So she excused herself for a minute, came back, typed some things into the computer, gave us 2 sheets of paper.. (i was already jumping by then lol). She then said, your visa has been approved, pick up this this this that.. i wasnt listening anymore
So guys im not gonna lie to you, i and my mom prayed and fasted for days before attending that interview.. we even went to a 7 nights vigil that ended last SUnday.. If not for prayers and God's favour, we wopuld have been denied. Please lets prepare ourselves and pray to the God/gods we believe in.
I thank every member of this page.. i dont want to mention names cos i appreciate you ALL.. God bless and i wish the people who are yet to go for their interview SUCCESS SUCESS SUCESS..
Cheers!
PS: Malcom 28 and ayodim.. big congrats to your family.. we were at the embassy the same time, can you describe yourselves? i was the lady with the cream blazer and my mom is the one with the african fabric jacket @Darhmee......i'm soooooo happy at your victory...particularly because I knew a little of what you went thru! Congratulations to you and your young looking mum (lol). I'm sure she is feeling very happy. The Lord shall Favour you all the way even after your arrival at the USA IJN - Amen! Thanks also for opening our eyes to the spiritual angle. God be with you in all your preparations. Congratz dear. |

ayodim: I have been following this thread from the begining as a guest. My family visa has been approved this morning. We got to the embassy at 5:30am , went through all security checks and finally entered the hall some minutes before 8,made payment and waited to be called. Our number was finally called where a beautiful black lady welcomed us with a smile. She asked us to thumb print and take oaths. Then she askedthe following questions: 1. What do you do in Nigeria? 2. What's your highest education level? 3. Is this your only child? 4. What type of wedding did u have? 5. Do u have family phorographs? She took the photographs and said"u have a lot of family pictures Then she said " congratulations your visa has been approved" and gave us two forms for visa pick up.
My advise for is that you should dress the way you want to be addressed and be bold (look straight with smiles). Most importantly, PRAY a lot. The visa is yours.
Finally, I want to thank all forumites for all questions and answers shared so far,it was really helpful. God bless you all Congratulations to Malcolm, Dahrmee and Ayodim!!!! The Lord shall dip your feet in oil in your new land IJN - Amen! |

ukemeglitter: @ Adeboy007,
I actually posted this because of you, so I want to hear you say something!
What I'll like to tell you is that cases like this sometimes does not always need prediction cos anything good can happen, i.e bulletin can increased by 2000, 2500, 3000 and so on by God's grace.
Consider this: Bulletin for April (2013 DV Winners) was 14,500 Bulletin for May (2013 DV Winners) was 17,000 Bulletin for June (2013 DV Winners) was 17,000 Bulletin for July (2013 DV Winners) was 17,775
What you need to do is always pray and relax your mind about it and before you know it, the 2NL is right there with you.
Hope it helps! @ukemeglitter: without sounding faithless.....that same year, the bulletin for November was 8500 and December was 10,000 compared to this year's bulletin that has November at 7,500 and december at 8,000....what would you have to say? note: i'm also one of those trusting the Lord for a miraculous speed of the bulletin because my CN is also high. thanks for your encouraging words anyway...... |

seye4God: Our interview experience!!!
Praise God!!! Rejoice with my family. The LORD has done a wondrous thing once again.
It was on Wednesday, 23rd January 2013. We got to the Embassy some minutes passed 8am.
We waited under the tree rented a seat for my wife at the rate of N150. My younger brother was with us. I was told we would need Four Passports Photograph each. The requirement we met already. At exactly 5minutes to 10am, we were told to come in for our interview. We queued to verify our entry with other diversity visa lottery winners.
After our confirmation, we were ushered to the screening security machine where we put off our shoes, belts, wrist watch, etc. In fact, we went with many luggages as if we were travelling to America that very day. I noticed we were the only applicant that came with many luggages. My wife named was called for submission of documents and instructed to pay for the VISA Fees at other cubicle. I paid for 5 people - my wife, three daughters and self (almost N280,000 non refundable).
Our documents were sorted and collated. Our submitted forms to Kentucky had been thoroughly and carefully reviewed by officers of the embassy and recommendation had been made. Just to submit your original and photocopied documents for verification and cross examination. Reviewing of one’s submitted form before the interview makes the task easier for the Consular Officer who will then use his/her discretion to check if truly one deserves the visa. Mind you, the internal officers would have suggested to the Consular Officer those errors and mistakes noted in conformable with the DV instruction as stated therein – click to read for your perusal and necessary action. (http://www.travel.state.gov/pdf/DV_2013_instructions_ENGL.pdf). Most of the applicants do not often read this instruction before applying. Most believe so much on “I heard and they said”. It is better we go through the DV instruction ourselves without falling victims.
At exactly 12noon, my wife number: (B-347) was called. We went to window 16 (a place where most Nigerians pray not to go). I see nothing difficult in that lady. She speaks clear and simple. Successful Applicants do not need to entertain any fear. Keep your receipt very well ooooooooooo. I could not find where I kept the receipt. Meanwhile, it was inside the envelope where I kept the balance of N280,000 (I later saw it when we got home). The lady said we should not bother to search we should just come for the interview. After we promise to say the truth by raising our right hands; she then requested to take our finger prints – both left and right.
Thereafter, our interview went thus:
CO: What was the date of birth of the twins?
My wife: nnnnnnnnnn
CO: Where is your first child?
My wife/I: She was disturbing other applicants where they sat and I went to carry her
CO: Okay. She is the one.
CO: In your original entry you said you have only one child; but after you won you included the twins; that means they were born couple of months before entry for the DIVERSITY VISA.
My wife: YES
CO: According to the policies and law of the DV section so and so….. you application has been disqualified. Madam, I am very sorry. There is nothing I could do at this juncture. I did not make the law. I am very sorry. My wife: I travelled when my husband played the lottery. The twins where delivered at home….nanana and nanananana
CO: Madam, I said I am sorry. I have many clients to attend to. Please leave now!
My wife/I: FATHER! (Immediately we heard her instruction to leave, we started praying at her presence) We thank you for this successful interview. We just want to thank you despite being denied. You are our GOD and we would continue to serve you more in respective of what must have happened today.
We saw, conquered and overcame the tricks of devil who thought we may be sick or died as a result of this disqualification rather many blessings were later discovered. Our GOD is a strong tower. He is our shield since we put our trust in Him. Proverb 30:5.
LESSON TO LEARN: • Put your trust in GOD!!! • Pray and fast • Be yourself and speak confidently (God made my wife to speak confidently despite being denied) • Read the instruction thoroughly • Visit https://www.nairaland.com/927190/dv-2013-winners-meet-here/415 to follow detailed experience from Nigerians • Be organized • If you are successful, assist other applicants who know nothing about this • It is by His grace that you won the VISA Lottery and your interview was successful; so, do not turn from GOD. • American is a place of comfort i.e. a comfort zone. Do not go there to forget GOD.
OBSERVATIONS: • Applicants should not be made to pay before interview. It is supposed to be after the interview since the fees is not refundable. • I am sure many will be granted and still the number of people that would be denied will be more than those that will be granted. Multiply that money of those denied with the charging fees. • Many families sold there belongings, properties, etc and even borrowed to pay for the visa fees (at least I know a family that did so) • If you are not successful, please don’t kill yourself. God knows the best. The Christ in us is far better that the crisis of this world. • Keep serving and worshiping God. My family and I have known God more!!! • But still we were extremely glad after the rigorous interview. Today, we were denied; only GOD knows tomorrow. Americans may be begging for us to come there. There is nothing our GOD cannot do. I will encourage those that were denied to often share their testimonies and experiences for other Nigerians to be conscious of them.
We have learnt our lessons. We know GOD more; during this struggle we knew those people that truly love us. We knew people that could only eat with you when the deal is done. We did what we thought we could not be able to do. AMERICA is our dream; ONE-DAY we shall be there by the special grace of GOD.
Best of luck to those applicants going for their interview. If you are in America; endeavour to help the needy. Share your wealth with people that are less privileges. 1Samuel 2:5-8 (it is not your power that made you rich) If you are not successful; share your experience with people that have not gone for their interview. Who knows? Your experience may be of help to other applicants. Finally, even you make all requirements and obey the laws and policies of DV; if God says NO; it will still be NO. I am very sure many will still be denied and many will be surely granted; whichever way, remain with GOD and never stop serving and worshiping Him.
I wish you all the best!!!
I learnt many have pay many thousands to Visa Processing Agents before their interviews. Whereas, the agents have no say of granting one visa. DV is what you can play yourself. I played it freely for my family and few friends. It takes nothing from me.
You bad DV Agent that is exhorting money from Nigerians; you better change your mind before it is too late!!! Repent and turn a new leaf. May God forgive us!!!
If you need any advice or you want to make inquiry feel free to call me. It is purely FREE. Call me any time any day. I will share more of this stories with you. My wife can also pick the call to share same experience with you. Please learn from our testimony!!! May GOD continue to be with us all.
