this is not SUG politics o,politics requires brilliance if you really want to serve your people no matter your age.
You missed it entirely, surviving Nigerian politics is about eating with elders and being
loyal and it requires being cunning.

He is simply following a tested and trusted strategy.
Culture › Re: History Of Oduduwa (photo) by ivolt: 9:19pm On Oct 29, 2017
Wrong title: "Oduduwa Mythology" would be more apt.

Aside his reign and struggle with the traditionalists, Oduduwa's
life still remains a mystery.

Neither Samuel Johnson's middle-east theory nor the deity hypothesis has any
validity.

But one thing is certain, he was not a foreigner.

Daviddson:
That's it. If these things are just African stuffs, where did Hollywood get the inspiration to write horror movies involving supernatural power depictions?! Nigerians who deny these things on Nairaland are being hypocritical.
Rosskii:
That is not true either. Americans spend billions of dollars per annum on consulting spiritualists like tarot readers, palm readers and psychics who help them communicate with their dead relatives. They even have TV programmes televising it! In fact Africans are the ones dropping all those things due to Christianity and Islam.
I see many people exhibiting inferiority complex on this thread while accusing
others of inferiority complex. And many of the pro-superstition arguments
are a textbook examples of false equivalencies.

First, America is a land of absurdities, with a population of 300 million and
strong church influence, you are bound to find enough people who engage
in extreme superstitions.

Just because some white men engage in irrational thinking does not make
such thinking rational! There are a lot of gun violence in the US and extreme
racism in some quarters, yet, it will dumb to use this example as the reason
why high-level of violence and tribalism is okay in another country.

Even at that, witch hunting others for lack of progress is a staple of African
belief. People who abandon or mistreats their old parents or kill their kids because
they are wizards are not in the same league with someone who believes that
luck amulets help them pass exams even though they are both superstitious.

While the former which is the specialty of many Africans, are creating more problems
for society and breeding lazy and dangerous thinkers, the latter is merely a burden
to themselves and most people don't care.

Albinos are under siege in Tanzania because some fools believe that they are ticket
for riches even though the witchdoctors making them "rich" is living in abject
poverty. Even in Nigeria, hunchbacks are being targeted for their "spiritual" value.
While some superstitious graduates believe it is their uncle, stepmother or an hater
that is responsible for their joblessness even though large-scale unemployment
is a natural result of poor governance.

Churches are even championing these absurdities by holding witch hunting programs
blaming "village people", old wicked men for poverty and lack of husbands.

You can worship a stone, devour live snakes, eat red candles and all that, it is your choice, but if
you try to sell such bizarre acts as evidence of witchcraft to others or victimize a set of people
for life misfortunes, you will get shut down by people
who think rationally.

A belief is not sacred because there are believers!

BrutalJab:
Only Nigerians tend to know more than their parents and ancestors whenever an issue bout there heritage and traditions are mentioned.

It baffles me whenever I see small children on NL here saying that there is nothing like Witchcraft.
The bold part of your text is ironic because children are naturally
gullible and believes almost everything they are told while rational
adults are able to question ridiculous beliefs. In all honesty which
group do you think you belong?

Cos of little education,
You are right, half-education is what makes an adult promote ridiculous beliefs even
though he knows nothing about it and have no evidence to back up such claims.

they believe the Whites are their saviours.
Since you are a christian who literally believes that a jewish man died for your sins.
Don't you think you are insulting yourself with this line?

Leave Ignorant Nigerians alone. Even Seun from Ogun state dey claim rubbish. SMH
I bet you are the ignorant here, knowledge comes with assurance and applications
while the ignorants wallow in fear and despair. We both know who is in perpetual
fear of innocent "village people".

EWAagoyin:
There's a saying which states that: person wai never born before no go know how he dey feel to get pikin

Someone that's lucky not have encountered anything spiritual before will find it so easy to type and call people who believes in witches and spirit "backward, illiterate and so on..... Whenever I see them I just look at them like someone who ignorant of his/her environment.

If you think witches and ghosts doesn't exist go to osun river and kill a fish... The rest they say will be history.
I am sorry, you are very ignorant of your environment and are still in the dark.
Electricity is dangerous but most people still use it because they understand
its usefulness and how to work with it.

Yet, none of those who claim to be spiritual understands its working, they always
hide behind mystery and secrecy while accusing others of ignorance when they
themselves no nothing about what they supposedly believe.

Your last statement is even more pathetic,
it is like saying if you don't believe in witches, throw a stone at a
perching bird and the rest will be history.
This is a meaningless argument because neither birds nor stones
have anything to do with witchcraft, the same thing that applies to
your Osun. Neither fishes nor the water in the river is any proof
of witchcraft.

The word witchcraft isn't African in origin, is neither necromancy. Infact in summary, Africa dey learn work when it comes to the other side.
The world slavery is not of African origin, neither is ritual nor murder
but I doubt you want to be subjected to any of those or actively
participate in it.

A practice or belief is wrong if it is irrational, right or wrong doesn't
depend on where it originates.

At least the parents were not treated like animals. Unlike in Albania, the first officially declared atheist nation. The atheist state would imprisoned and tortured anyone who had a name related to any religion. If your name was peter, you had to change it, or else you would be imprisoned, tortured and then killed. Changing your name of course wasn't enough to keep you alive, you had to renounce God and convert to atheism. If you refused, you would be executed.
Liar.

Do you know that witches are burned at the stake in the Vatican?
Of course, this is no longer true except in the imaginary world of rekinomtla.

There is nothing like dark witchcraft, just a bunch of magicians

Secrecy and ignorane is the refuge of such trade because no one will be foolish

Reminds me of a man who collected "jazz" from a witchdoctor to poison his brother,

the same thing with sniper or get a prescriptive drug from a pharmacist.
But with all the dramatic displays of the witchdoctor, he was fooled into thinking

Superstition and Ignorance is a dangerous combo
as it makes the victim susceptible to every ridiculous
beliefs and conmen antics.

What is even more disturbing is that the purveyors of this nonsensical
beliefs seem to think their opinion is superior to all others because
they "experienced it" when it is nothing but an extension of their
confirmation bias rooted in lazy thinking.

An innocent bird which missed its way was killed to assuage the anger
of a man who refuses to take responsibility for his own life.

There's more female Than men in all the society.
Men engage in deadly activities than females:
Driving truck, working in the army, stealing...send to prison, join cult...kill each other.

Check around you see in any family men tend to die or be in prison than females
Worldwide, more males are born than females and from age 25-50, there are more
males than females in most countries including Nigeria.

Most men don't die under 35, they are well pass the marriage age by the time
they die.

I know a woman who lost her 47 years old husband, would you also claim that
the man would have married a single lady had he not died?

Even if a country has a perfect 50:50 gender ratio, many men and women will
still never marry due to choice circumstance or lack of an eligible partner.

There are millions of unmarried men out there above the age of 30. Why do
you think they are single?

It is all about money.
