Austindark:The bullshit every layman on the street spouts as excuse for African underdevelopment is "bad leaders". I found such expression to be meaningless. It is the time we throw of that useless line of thinking. A country's development depends on the citizens. If the citizens love the current state of their country (as most Nigerians currently do), then it remains stagnant. Leaders are not magicians or angels, they are a product of the Nigerian populace which celebrates mediocrity, tag corrupt people as "sharp", teaches short-sightedness and has a strong love for magical expectations without work. The latter part of your post address some of the secondary problems of development but without a change in orientation of an average Nigerian we shouldn't expect any meaningful progress. |
khalhokage:We need more educated people, you seem to be confusing being a student and being educated. At least 50% of our uni students have no business being in college in the first place. The majority of our leaders in this country are degree holders, but we're still in this mess, what we need are intelligent and compassionate people.Intelligence without education is useless when it comes to solving modern problems. Nigeria's mess is as a result of a complacent uneducated population who are easily fooled An idiot will remain an idiot educated or not.Any educated person cannot be an idiot. It's like an acquaintance of mine, This guy has a very very good memory, so school work is a breeze, but he lives on weed, always makes stupid decisions and has a ignorant world view, education can't help such a person. He is just a degree hustler like many Nigerians who have no business in tertiary institutions. Education can help anybody! You should change your mindset and be more open minded, education can never be the measure of a man, because we have Youth corpers in this country calling themselves corpses and wishing heart attack on themselves because basic English spelling eluded them.Education is a valid measure of a persons' class, thinking style and worldview. I determine a person's level of education from their conducts since nobody people don't inscribe "degree" on their forehead. |
crixuss:The analogies are not in any way flawed. Individuals have preferences and they have the right to pursue them. There are people who can't marry a police officer for the reasons best known to them, they are not wrong for their choice, the same way you are free to like or dislike a certain group of people. My focus on tech experts is to illustrate to you how you are drawing a false equivalence between education and having a degree. A degree is merely a written statement that one has acquired knowledge or skill in a certain area. Now if one doesn't have that written statement, it doesn't mean he or she hasn't acquired such knowledge or skill.I think you are being a literalist. If I say that ex-convicts have at one time done something wrong and I don't want to have anything to do with them, it doesn't mean that there aren't some tiny percentage of them are actually innocent. Degree holder in this context can be taken to mean educated. Please note that intelligence and education are not the same. There are intelligent uneducated men and there are also educated men with below-average intelligence. A college educated man is more exposed and has a progressive life experience than an average non-degree holder. It doesn't matter if there are some unicorn non-degree holders that are very educated, after all, there is hardly anything in life that is absolute. But your discrimination on the basis of having or not having a degree excludes people who might have education in a particular field, but without the written statement. Like there are lots of courses today that can be self thought. Take for instance a course like history. What's the difference between someone who decided to study history on his own and someone who spent four years in the university studying history? At the end of the day what matters is the knowledge gathered and the person's ability to retain that knowledge and apply it.There is a clear difference between someone who studies history at the university and the unicorn who studied history on its own. The former acquired more than just knowledge, he gained different perspectives, absorb various ideas and learned different cultures from student-student interactions and lecturer-students interactions. Finally, he isn't just someone who studied history but one who has been certified by intelligent people that he actually understood what he studied. You should understand that there are different categories of non-degree holders just as there are different categories of degree holders. There are non degree holders who are inarticulate, uninformed and without any marketable skills, while there are those that are smart, informed and "educated in various marketable fields."The overwhelming majority of non-degree holders can't hold a meaningful non-mundane conversation with their educated counterpart. To avoid frustration or suspicion, it is advisable that one dates within their class(whatever it means to an individual). It is bad advice to consider every group because some outliers might exist in a non-desired group even if one could miss out on some rare gems. But the problem is that you are painting them all with a single brush. You aren't even considering the SSCE holders who were smart enough to gain admission into good schools but dropped out along the way. You don't box everyone into the same category.Sound generalizations are useful human tools, without it, we would be paralyzed in our decision-making process due to too many choices. Being a degree holder is a non-issue since most people won't start discussing academic thesis in their first meeting. It is easy for an educated person to weed out the uneducated(degree or non-degree holding) from a few minute interaction. I am not aware of anyone wearing a "degree" badge on their head so it isn't even part of a first impression. |
lefulefu:What some people lack in education they make up in class and power. |
yeyerolling:If this was all you did during uni days, then you are not really educated, you just happen to have a certificate. |
UnknownT:Timi is saying trash. When did he become an all powerful god that can stop people from behaving like humans? Timi say they should stop? Is that a joke? If humans haven't adhered to the basic principle of not killing each other why will anyone expect that a simple goodwill advice will have any effect on an abusive spouse? |
ElPadrino33:Why? |
Decsions should be jointly made. |
Lordygram: ![]() Why are you so pained? |
ofuonyebi:The boy looks like someone still being fed by his parent, so their is no purse to drain from. The mother knowing that she will bear the responsibility for the pregnancy decided to confirm the story. |
WaffenSS: ![]() Yes, the police are still investigating that he lied to police. |
Welcomme:Go and learn technical skills, Graphics, Design or Programming. You can get many lessons on Youtube for free. |
Organizations reserves the right to weed out candidates using whichever method they so desire. If a company is recruiting the wrong candidate, then it is headed for bankruptcy, so if a company keep using a non-intuitive way of screening candidates, then it must be working for them. I once saw a stage 2 screening questions for an accounting role which 90% were current affairs. It looked weird and stupid but I realized that the company probably think any of the candidates can do the job and opted for an unusual screening method. |
Begging culture is widespread in Nigeria. I remember some bank's security men begging and harassing anyone who came to use the ATM. |
WaffenSS:Why don't they charge him to court? I bet it is the fear of being ridiculed by a sound lawyer. In fact, anybody with a sound mind can defend themselves without a lawyer in this case. |
MicroBox:When did the court clear maina? Maina's corruption case is still in court. You must take everybody here for an illiterate. |
starchris:More competitors will change nothing, people hardly abandon their old network for a new one unless there is a mouth-watering offer. What we need is better service from other operators. |
teflonjake:Some people think that Russia is some kind of invincible country which can solve any security problem within a day. They forgot Afghanistan and the current Syria crisis. |
BadBlaize:Russia can't handle ISIS. Tough talk can't defeat those terrorist because it just take one single man to cause widespread havoc. Remember that ISIS isn't written on member's forehead. |
highchief1: anthony533:It is a male behind that handle, so his job is scamming randy men. |
Olalan:Prosecuted for what exactly? Witnessing a drinking competition or his car being used to convey Tagbo to the hospital? Just because innocent poor men rot in police detention for a crime they didn't commit doesn't make it right. |
Of Course, the new CP has to show that he is working and what better chance than he gasping at straw in attempting to nail a high profile suspect. The so-called lie is becoming a comic. First he was accused of lying that he didn't know the hospital Tagbo was taken to, how was he to know when he didn't follow them. Now the lie has been changed to "he didn't know who took Tagbo to the hospital. Even if the CP claims were to be true, lying to the police is not a crime. It is a waste of public resources to pursue a fruitless case just for sensationalism. |
I hope the teachers will also be "World Class". |
nnokwa042:It is illiteracy and religious conspiracy propaganda that make some northerners reject polio vaccine. It is the same illiteracy and political propaganda that made some people swallow the monkeypox vaccine lies. The saying that "illiteracy is a disease" is very much alive! |
gidgiddy:I am not aware of any law prohibits military from carrying out exercise in any part of Nigeria, if there is, kindly cite such laws. Insurrection is the violent uprising of a group of people. No such thing existed in Abia stateIpob member were terrors to the public and security agents As for aiding civil authority, there was none to aid since nobody asked for military interventionShutting down a state with illegal protest and rendering civil authority powerless with constant harassment warrants a military aid. Even if we are to believe that Operation Python dance was a way of aiding civil authority, they announced it would start on the 15th of September. The Army invaded Abia state and Kanu's house and killed several people before that dateThe military is under no obligation to give you a date for their exercises. Given the penchant of ipob to link all recent deaths to politics, I do not believe any army killing story unless with hard evidence. |
modelmike7:Any case involving human life must not be done in a hurry so as not to convict an innocent person of murder. |
Touchey:It is better you talk about what you know but if you are still skeptical please send your card no, name and cv v as pm. I guarantee that you will get alerts. You obviously know very little about prepaid cards and online shopping. |
saydfact:Any bank, master or visa card. |
saydfact:It doesn't, I have purchased items countless of time online and my pin was never requested just the card name, number, and Security. Don't ever let someone have your card, they do not need your pin for purchases. |
gidgiddy:So you cannot differentiate between a military exercise and military deployment? Even if I were to agree with your false claims that the military was deployed for combat, they did tick off both reason 2 and 3. |
cbngov01:They don't need to withdraw. Online purchases require no pin and the fraudsters can buy as much as they want. I read that there is this "card cloning" technique that fraudsters use to make withdrawals possible without pin, I don't know if it is true. |
gidgiddy:Nigeria can go after any suspected trouble maker. There is no law in our constitution mandating the government to only go after armed suspect. In fact, most of the arrest carried out by law enforcement agencies does not involve armed suspects. It is quite a shame and cowardly of the Nigerian Army to be still invading someones house as if we are still in military rule. The Army is going to fight an unarmed man and you people are praising them? What is there to praise? The only cowards here are the Nigerian Army who embarked on an illegal exercise to to attack an unarmed man in his house. But sheka has been in his house fir seven years and nobody can get him. So the Nigerian Army is only good at attacking people with no guns? So what was all that training for?Again unarmed does not equate saint or blameless. Cowards cower under their beds or flee instead of confronting their problems so you can't have "coward" and "invade" in the same character. We can clearly see who is the real coward here. Army exercises are perfectly legal, if it isn't please point to the part of the Nigerian constitution which barred Nigerian army from carrying out excercise in any part of the Nigerian territory. I hate pseudo-authoritative arguments, just because you said so does not make the Army Excercise illegal By bringing in shekau into an unrelated issue, you are just like a pickpocket who berates police for arresting him instead of going after armed robbers and murderers. You can see the fallacy in such argument. If you suppport the reigning in of people using unconstitutional methods in a democracy then you dont mean well for anyone.Again, cite the part of the Nigerian constitution which bans the Army from carrying out excercises in any Nigerian territory. Don't bother restating your point if you do not have evidence to back yourself up. Dangerous elements in a society must be reign in. Again this has nothing to do with being armed. |
