Spy360: Ok. SE can't get a port. But there is a port in PH and Onne.
So why is Lagos congested as everyone is going there for importation? Why aren't the Onitsha and Aba importers using PH and Onne? What is the volume of goods going to Aba and Onitsha from China? That's the first question you should ask yourself Are you telling me Onitsha and Aba importers can fill up a 1000 container vessels at a go? These things are beyond having a port in every LGA. Do you have the required number to convince a Shipping vessel to berth there? Or you want a vessel to berth in PH because of 20 or 30 containers? FYI, Vessels berth in PH. Oil companies, and companies around there use it. Ibeto is still in business and expanding |

There are better things to negotiate for, than to be asking for every single project to be replicated everywhere.
The SE probably has the highest number of traders, but the region is not the highest consumer of goods...Lagos remains the highest, not because of its population alone, but the access to more than 5 countries.
So if an Igbo man imports a Container load of shocks at Onitsha port, you are suggesting he takes it by road back to Lagos to go and sell it? |

Illimitable: You are playing a game of draught with the truth.
The main limitation is inconsistent water levels and siltation on the River Niger, requiring regular dredging for reliable year-round access.
The concessionaire has stated the port infrastructure is ready, but without sustained dredging it remains a “seasonal stopgap” rather than a full multimodal hub.
This shows the Federal Government (via NPA concessions) have tried, but maintaining navigability on major rivers is expensive and technically demanding.
Ports are among the most capital-intensive infrastructure projects. They need constant dredging(billions of Naira monthly), quay walls, handling equipment, terminals, access channels, and environmental safeguards.
Attracting private investment (PPP models) requires strong feasibility studies, clear ROI projections, and de-risked environments. Many proposals to have an Inland Port in the SE stall at the study/approval stage because full funding and technical partnerships are hard to secure without proven cargo volumes and supporting infrastructure.
To cut the long story short, a fully-functional SE port is NOT feasible. I can bet you that he knows that already, but he would not agree with you. |

Spy360: Ok. You're wrong or uninformed.
The River Niger is good enough for cargo ships if dredged. Also there are already existing ports but they are dilapidated and require government intervention. So you're completely wrong or ignorant about the prospect of ports in the SE.
Secondly, most imported goods are not only raw materials for industries but also finished goods for consumers. When did Nigeria start importing raw materials? 😂
Finally, this argument isn't about ports but why Lagos is congested. Which existing port is in the SE? The way you guys throw this dredging thing around is funny. The money that will be used to dredge River Niger to accommodate cargo ships will build more than 5 seaports from scratch. It is possible, but it cannot be funded. That is why the SE port will always be a story Ibeto, an Nnewi man ran to Port Harcourt to build a port. What does that tell you? Nigeria imports raw materials. Most Flour mills are located at Apapa, because Wheat is imported even up till tomorrow. I did my IT at the then Dangote Flour, so I know what Raw wheat looks and smells like. Many of the companies in Ogun state and Oyo have their raw materials shipped from Apapa |

Spy360: Port concession means that the government can restrict the development of ports.
There is a reason FG over the years have been unwilling to allow the upgrade the ports in the SE.
They know that Lagos will lose it relevance. Where is the water to develop the port in the SE? I believe that all these talk about building a seaport in the SE na just talk. The possibility is little. How do you want to dredge River Niger, to accommodate one RORO? Even Ibeto went to PH to build his own And yes, Raum is right. Apart from Lagos having the larger market, it is also nearer to more than half of the manufacturing industries in Nigeria. Also, shipping lines trust Lagos as a safer place to berth, than other states. Its the same reason why every airport is "International" in Nigeria, but Delta, United and many foreign airlines will either land in Lagos or Abuja. You cannot force them to land anywhere else |

Spy360: Honesty 😂 Shebi when it came up the last time, his apostles and members defended it. I haven't seen any comment since he said this one. What is more worrisome is how they put the barest minimum for the President; The same standard that RCCG cannot allow in their church or it's businesses. "The Grand Commander of the Armed Forces should not be blamed for the rising insecurity" The same person that has the sole power to hire and fire. His words are final. That's the same person Adeboye thinks should not be blamed? It is well oh. |

Thank you sir for this honesty. |

It is actually looking like those videos of lokoja flooding. Gbagada was flooded yesterday. But I think it's all those flash floods where the water drains gradually as the rain stops |
