Oya post numbers, will make things easy to comprehend, it's not impossible to live on 200k or some other lower income, but na very spartan lifestyle e go gats be. I'm talking in Lagos...reason am, for those Jonathan era, na like 200k men dey use run family...8 years later and the price of everything almost quadrupled, it's not out of place for 600k not to cut it. No be even big man matter sef, Naija don spoil.
You are assuming a lot, my friend.

I have not said anything about 8 years later, or whether na E-money lifestyle the person go live.

I said depending on how you cut your coat, 600k will take care of you well. You have agreed.

So what is all these drop numbers, location, data and food expenses?

I have a friend who drives Uber and lives in Sangotedo with 3 kids. I am absolutely sure he doesn't earn 600k a month, but they are okay.

Cut your coat and 600k will take care of you well.

Abi all your neighbours dey earn 2 million per month?

It depends on your lifestyle, the amount you claim is not enough, Some family survive on less than half of it in a month
Only that they wont enjoy the luxury you enjoy

Even the 600K some people finish it in a day
Na laugh i don dey laugh since

At some point, I see them making my point for me. In another way, they create bogus realities to counter it.

I have not said it is the ideal amount for luxury.

I simply said 600k can take care of you depending on how you cut your coat.

Which one come be rent for Surulere, 80k fuel, Data of 50k is not enough, blah blah blah.?

Maybe every single person driving a 2003 Corolla is earning 950 to 1.5 million monthly....Just maybe.

Big men full this thread, I tell you

You were the one who mentioned me being surrounded by rich people to justify your argument.
Coz I don't know how you think 600k is alot of money for a family man because you have families who are surviving on less.
You said the reality was based on poverty.

So a man not driving a car is poor....According to you.

If you can have this mindset, then just tell us the zeros in your bank account

Which is my point.
I specified that a family man will have difficulties with 600k monthly and gave examples of the increase of things.

I was very specific to a family person.
Not a single person.
See what a known family man here typed.

This is a poverty reality abi?
Itsrm:
For married people with kids, if you mean just paying bills and driving a 2003 corolla, then 600k monthly will be just enough.

If you have to save for the rainy day, take flight when you need to travel, go on vacation with the family and lodge in hotels, you're on your own.

There are people surviving with 120k salary.
So when someone who earns 200k complains, does it mean they are not cutting their coat according to their size?
Did anybody ask you how much you are earning?

The question was whether people can survive with 600k, and the answer was yes; DEPENDING ON HOW YOU CUT YOUR COAT.

Instead of you to cut the coat, you started adding other lengths of material to it.

Surprisingly, both of you are correct to an extent.

None of you, however, wants to understand that.

This is the danger in certain discussions.

What is more perplexing is not even whether 600k, for example, is enough for a person or not, it is whether the constant price increase will ever stop.
The discussion from the beginning was whether 600k is enough for someone monthly.

And i can remember saying "Depending on how you cut your coat"

It can be enough and it cannot be enough.

What i find funny is how he uses his reality of a family person to conclude. Which one be certification and 40 people begging?

People are surviving with less than 600k a month. That's enough proof to argue against

Then don't claim 600k will take care of you well when your reality is limited to poverty.
What is poor about what i wrote?

So a man not driving a car is poor?
Or a man that doesn't want a certification?
Or a man that decides to use his gen for 4 hours?

See as you dey expose your gross ignorance.

If you are rich, stay there and don't come and rub your realities and expectations on people who are doing okay.

Still thinking of how you added 40 people begging as a responsibility..SMH

Millions of family persons are not earning 600k monthly and they are not begging for bread.

So, no need to dey draw realities. It is already evident and possible around you

This is not about cutting your coat.
More people have gone under.
Things are alot more expensive.
Which means your spending has gone up and your purchasing power has been cut badly.
The amount you spent to fix a car in 2022 isn't the same you spend today.
The amount your spent on fuel in January 2023 is almost 300% more now just price. The volume you consume has increased because of terrible power supply and even poor quality petrol that burns off faster.
The money you spent on food in 2022 is alot more now.
School fees has gone up alot more.
The things you buy for the house that are necessities are now 3 times more expensive.
Should I talk about the cost of medication?

Now let's talk about the parents you support, do you reduce the money or increase it with the price of things?
There's a surge in poverty meaning if 20 people were begging you in 2022, 40 people are probably begging you now.
Lets now face personal development if you are a career person.
How much is the cost of certifications now compared to last year? Probably 2 times or 3 times depending on if it's a UK or US certification.

Like I said, 600k is not much if you are a proper family person
I don't want to have a car.
I will only give 1 person begging me money every month
I don't want to have any certifications
I will use my gen from 7pm to 10 pm everyday.

Oya rephrase this fantasy and tell me 600k is still not enough.

40 people are begging me automatically means i will be catering for 40 people abi?

As per USAID wey i be?

Lmao.. As a single person, yes.

As a family person especially with black tax.
How much car fixing and fueling dey collect each month?
How much be the new rent you dey pay?
How much be the new price of food?
Imagine you come get new baby nko.
How much to run the house Daily?
The help you'll render to people nko?
What about unforeseen billings in a month?

600k nor big Bros. Nor worry😂
I have not said 600k is big, but if you cut your coat according to the size of today's economic realities, you will be more than fine.

So you wan tell me say all the family men in Lagos and Nigeria are spending above 600k monthly?

If you want to chill as an Odogwu and Game changer, 600k no reach.

The main problem is this. CBN is still not allowing us convert Naira to Dollar at the bank. So what happens when people need dollar for importation? They go to the black market.

I just pray this thing does not backfire. If not, we will soon see N2500 to a dollar.
