A001: It has never worked in the past and will never that English or any of these languages today is used as a universal language.
Do you even know what that means? Do you know the number of planets in our solar system alone let alone the Universe?
There are infinite planets in the Universes. The elements of the Universe, including humans, languages, and tons of others, are infinite.
No single element of the Universal can lay claim to anything universal. So, English, a tiny and almost negligible element of the Universe, can never be a universal language.
It has never happened before and will never happen.
On this planet, the languages are fighting for survival and domination.
If na mumu people full your language/culture, a language with smarter people will colonize it and drive it into extinction.
An African promoting English language at the expense of his own native language in this day and age na mumu person I am currently in Ogun state. Please what language do you think i need to survive and converse here? Nota Bene: My indigenous language is Anambra. |

BlueRayDick: That's the mistake most people make. They don't even know how ethnically diverse this country is.
A friend of mine during NYSC told me that in his LGA alone in Plateau state they have as much as 13 different languages spoken by different tribes/ethnic group. He said the funny thing is they don't even understand each other's language so they have no choice but to learn Hausa to sue to communicate to their neighbors All they do here is bully everyone into thinking this nonsense makes sense. An Anambra man will struggle to understand the native language of an Ngwa man, and both will struggle to understand an Izzi man, all in the same SE. We are just setting up more barriers with all these. Our indigenous cultures and languages must be upheld, but we need to settle for a universal one primarily. Na the truth be that |

What language should a multi ethnic society like Nigeria adopt ? Will the language be created afresh by selected linguists or the peope who belong to Idoma, Egun, Eggon, Ikale, Ebira , Junkun tribes be forced to adopt either of the 3 major languages (Yoruba, Igbo & Hausa) In Nigeria as a language of instruction/learning?
Let's be real here, let's talk about the practicality of these lofty ideas. No sir, we cannot be practical. We will rather use countries where they have 5 different languages as samples. |

Like I said earlier tho, I have mixed reactions because I know what it means to the struggling local manufacturer. Now that cement is no longer banned, let's see if the price will crash or not.
The policy might work or might not work but we have used 8yrs in the protectionist policy of Buhari (which I actually supported) but we are nowhere near 10% production capacity and food inflation wants to wreck the country, make we try another avenue abeg. The truth is that something needs to be done fast about this food inflation. Buhari policy has been running for 8yrs and we are not even seeing the impact as expected.

larride: Well on this some thread, it was said that Buhari ruined the economy. This issue is not as straightforward as it looks like.
The reason why the black market is thriving is because of those 43 banned items, those that trade those 43 items were sourcing their forex from the 3rd party, that's why the rate kept crashing (apart from the fact that we dont have enough liquidity to meet demands).
Look at all the items on the banned list since 2015, how many of them are cheaper? The prices just keep soaring and soaring with no end in sight. Food inflation is almost 75% nationally, most people are using their salary/wages in food alone. It is not sustainable. Something needs to be done.
If Buhari methods didnt work or yield the desired impact, it makes no sense to continue on that line. It definitely means we will not produce shi shi. Nobody will leave available forex and start suffering to produce from scratch. |

Let's see how things pans out in 6 months first. One of the revelations of this regime is that they actually don't have any plan when they entered. The trial and error is becoming too much. One of the reasons our local productions could see the light of day was because CBN was not providing forex for some items. that are good in history.. Make you read anything like this ?

Her history is very distorted. Firstly she says Muhammad could only recruit his family and friends to his religion in the first 12 years. Then Muhammad went to Medina to convince the Jews to join him. The Jews refused, then he began to kill them and then Jews and Christians became second class citizens. Then Islam began to grow. So my questions are: 1) How did a man that just had his family as members suddenly have the nerve, and resources to start killing people? Something she has indirectly admitted he didn't do initially. I could go on, but let me stop here. I don't know history sha, but this presentation no get foundation. |
