What a freaking shame!

One word - IGNORANCE!

When I read some of the posts on this forum and I see nothing but ignorance. Ignorance is bliss! I see a plethora of evidence that many Nigerians do NOT even know anything about the true history of their own country. Somebody was even asking; "What is the Asaba massacre?" And another person asked; "What did the hundreds of boys and men in Asaba do for them to get lined up and murdered by soldiers of the Nigerian Army who were under the command of Murtala Muhammed?" What did they do? Seriously? Have you taken a look at history? Another person is asking for some evidence of the Asaba massacre! Wow! What do you want? You want to dig up the mass graves of the murdered people so you can smell their decayed bones? What evidence exactly will convince you? A video or audio recording?

And this is the biggest reason why Nigeria still remains the same poor, low-life, mediocre, under-producing country that it has been for many decades ever since Independence from colonial Britain. You can see all the glaring evidence of ignorance from many people who post and comment on these boards. Many Nigerians and Nairalanders know more about American artists and Hollywood stars and you know more about your local Nigerian stars and celebrities than you will ever know about the history of your own country. What a SHAME!

And you wonder why Nigeria is in the same condition that it is today, and Nigerians continue to allow mediocre, vision-less and those of average intelligence to govern them and rule over them over and over again? And you wonder why the country does not make progress?

1) Begin by learning the history of your country and take note of the lessons from that history.
2) Take those lesson notes and use them to fix the problems of Nigeria today.
3) Use your vision and creative energy and resources to develop the solutions for today, and plan for tomorrow.
4) Select "only" good leaders. Get rid of all the bad ones - every single one of them "bad ones" gotta go! Punish the corrupt ones.
5) Take the country back from the rogues. That is how you change the country.

People, you need to remember your own history.

The man was banging another woman. You don't have to be an expert detective to put this simple puzzle together. It should be clear as night and day. An easy one for the police to solve.

But why would an educated, successful career woman turn into a raging mad woman like that? Why not just break off with the man and leave him? Jealousy, Hurt, Anger, Hate, Rage.

It is clear that she made the decision that if she can't have him, then no other woman will. This is insanity. No person (man or woman) is worth that kind of anger, emotion or energy. One single moment of madness. A lifetime of prison. Now she will get her pricks only from the prison guards. And when she starts to get old, the prison guards will just abandon her for some fresh, younger woman. So what will she do then? Kill the guards too? Cut the guards' pricks too? This was just a case of stupid, senseless rage. Hope she is happy now that she murdered him senselessly.

You have a point. The "Irabor" name by itself is something that refers to celestial or godly praise and the name by itself, has an Edo or Ishan (Ẹ̀sán) ring to it. However, the "nehi" ending part of it is similar to suffixes of words ending with "erhi" or "rhieri" which are commonplace in the Urhobo language.

The writer and philosopher - George Santayana, once said that; "Those who cannot remember their past are condemned to repeat it."

It is clear that too many Nigerians are completely ignorant of their own history. This is primarily why things continue to be the way they are today. Nigerians worship and praise the wrong people while they condemn and persecute the few good and noble people.

Gowon's era paved the way for downfall of Nigeria. It essentially spelled the beginning of the end for the "Lord Lugard" British-led experiment known as Nigeria which began in 1914. And things have never been quite the same ever since then. In fact, things have gotten regressive and way much worse over the decades.

The fact is that Nigeria still had a chance to progress when Gowon came to power but due to lack of vision, good governance and a lack of proper direction, it regressed. And thereafter, under consistently poor, incompetent, dishonest (military and civilian leadership) gross corruption and moral decay took over and the country kept on tumbling and totally took the opposite direction, becoming what we have today - an under-achieving, completely mediocre, law-breaking, corrupt, poverty-stricken, no-conscience, spiritually-lame, morally-bankrupt, money-worshiping low-productivity poor nation where 98% of the country's wealth is lying in the hands of a mostly-corrupt 2% of the population. Senators make millions that they do not deserve. Governors make undeserved millions. And the masses choose to suffer in silence! Too much waste in government!

Yet year after year, they continue to vote for the same robbers to govern over them. Can you blame the robbers if the people keep 's'electing them and allowing them to rule and rob them? This country has a serious problem. It should me a much better country than this. Something has to change very quickly.

Gowon was the beginning. Where and When will it end?

The dashing young man is a Lieutenant or the rank described in (formal) Army terms as a First Lieutenant.

Example, in ARMY ranking order below, you have:
1 star = 2nd Lieutenant ......... (is Lowest)
2 stars = 1st Lieutenant ......... (is Higher)
3 stars = Army Captain ......... (is Higher than the previous two) *

NOTE: *A Captain means a totally different rank in both the Air Force and the Navy and in the Navy, Captain denotes an even much Higher rank.

Though born in another Delta town, he was a native of Onicha-Olona (the Anioma Area of Delta State). That's where his parents hail from.
Ras was on his way to the US to attend to some pressing medical condition but unfortunately, he couldn't make it to his destination.
Nigeria leaders need to build up-to-date hospitals and invest in power and needed infrastructure instead of embezzling millions of Nigerian money.
