Mr_TA:
People seriously need to stop perpetuating the myth that Arsenal play the best football in the EPL.
How is it a myth, do you mind telling us who plays the best brand of footie in the epl.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by jalether(m): 3:32pm On May 25, 2010

Ronaldo has been more influential.
FFS, Real Madrid copped 96 points in La Liga and scored some 130 goals throughout the season.
What success has ronaldo's contribution produce for madrid?, that's the crux of the debate.

Robben inspired his team to bundelsiga title and UCL final and Sneijder did one better by winning the treble. what more do you want from a player.

make no mistake about my position, ronaldo is better than these 2 players, ability and performance wise, however, I'm merely attacking

your undervaluation of them. they have been nothing short of outstanding this season and I don't think there have ever been doubts about their ability.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by jalether(m): 1:31pm On May 25, 2010
~Sauron~:
Comparing Robben to Ronaldo is like comparing Ricardo Fuller to Didier Drogba.
There's a universe of difference between the two.

Ronaldo is 100000 times better than Robben can ever be.
When Robben was developing, his coaches failed to instruct him to use his right foot.
Who has been more influential fo their respective teams this season, back up your points with real achievement/outcome. (pay attention to the highlighted

part)

arsenal demanding £80 million transfer fee for Fabregas shocked shocked shocked shocked, the board must be having a laugh, fab 4 and CR9 are now

on the same level. anyway, I blame madrid for inflating the market in the first place because no player dead or alive is worth that amount

Both were before now bit-part/stop-gap players. How do you offload bit-part players who have shown you genuine promise. If there was any time Fletcher shoulda been sent away, that time has passed. He's become integral to the United side.Same with Nani.
Carrick has earned the right to play for another season.3 straight EPL titles is proof of that.
Yes, we both share the same sentiment. I have a feeling Nani will be unstoppable next season, my only doubt of him is consistency issue

if he maintains the form he showed in the latter part of the season, then other teams better watch out

@jalether,
13 games is by no means a guide to judge any form.period.
13 games is sufficient to judge a world class player's form, if an average or shitty player was in question then that assertion may have applied

world class players earn their status based on "consistency". that is the key factor that separates the men from the boys

as a footie fan you expect these players to atleast give a decent/acceptable level of performance each time they take to the field.

tkb417:
you call the debut seasons for Evra and Vida off seasons? how? they were just coming to terms with the realities in EPL and it took them time to adjust

RIO has always been erratic and as we are now, we dont have adequate replacements. when we do, we can offload and besides, RIO brings a lot of experience to fore whenever he plays

Fletcher has always been like Oshea. neither here nor there. hes just raising his game. i can safely say Fletcher is just playing like a UTD player should play. He was never up to scratch so why label him as if he was ever a brilliant player.

can you remember how Keano described him and some others? they were never good enuff just until recently so your off form theory wont hold here

Carrick on the other hand has always been a good player. Spurs and his first 3 years in UTD. but what he displayed this year was abysymal compared to his past efforts.
Carrick has performed fantastically for utd until this season, helping the team win 3 epl titles in a row yet he should be offloaded based on 1 awful season,

totally disregarding his previous valuable contributions. but players like fletcher and nani who only recently stepped up to the plate should be retained.

I don't get that logic

add Rio 09/10 and berbatov 08/09+09/10 to the list as well.

@DK, epl's failure to produce notable wc winners . . . . . stems from the fact that MOST world class players, in their prime, have never really gravitated towards

the epl.

Arshavin has been inconsistent on the wings this season, but people have forgotten he isnt a winger by default. . . In the only game he played in his natural position this season, he copped 3 assists.
And no, he's not "replacing" Cesc. Do they play the same position?
Jalether, is your brain on gardening leave? cheesy
He played mostly on the wings at zenit, he scored and created most of his assist from the flanks.

Not Necessarily. Iniesta is injury prone(always been that way) plus Xavi is nearing the autum of his career.
Also not taking into account that Iniesta could always play as a wide forwrd in barca's 4-3-3 formation.
I guess you have a point there on xavi getting old and may need a predicessor sooner or later. however, he is still going strongly. (think he still has abt 2 yrs left

in him ) .Pedro seems to have sealed his place in that team and rightfully so, which means iniesta can only play in his fav position in the midfield

now what happens to Fab 4 when ini isn't injured?, you don't expect a player of his calibre to warm the bench, that will surely give pep something to think about

Best keepers.

Iker Cassilas, Sebastian frey, Julio Cesar, Manuel Neuer, Rene Adler, Igor Akinfeev, Hugo lloris, Samir Handanovic, Petr Cech and Diego Lopez.

These are the top 10 keepers in Europe at the moment In no particular order
If it's based on this season's performance and not just reputation then surely, Joe hart, Shay Given and Victor valdez must be in anyone's top ten.

P.s. casillas has been average this season.
