Hi, Has anyone moved to the UK recently on the new Skilled workers route (replacing Tier 2)? I don't see any major changes from Tier 2. What am I missing? Just curious. |

Hi guys please help me answer this: Can I get a Tier 2 Visa for a part time job? More specifically, the job offers 0.5FTE for 3 years. This means I would be working for half the total work hours in a week, I am wondering if this position is eligible for Tier2 sponsorship? |

Hi everyone, I am currently on my Doctorate Extension Scheme visa after completion of my PhD. The following is a summary of my situation. Summary: Point 1: I'm currently enroute a comfortable 6 years in UK continuous residence and hope to make the 10 year ILR. Point 2: I have spent 5 of this 6 continuous years studying without breaks. the 6th current year is on a Doctoral extension scheme (1 year visa) expiring next year. Point 3: I now need to earn 4 years more to qualify for the 10 year ILR. However, Point 4: The UK has an 8 year maximum study cap. As I have also held a previous (since expired) tier 4 visa on a masters course for 17 months (i.e the standard 1 year 5 months visa), it doesn't count towards continuous residence now. This is because I went back to Nigeria after I completed it and spent more than 180 days there before returning to the UK to study again. Even so, this study period is still counted by the UK Home Office as 1 year 5 months used towards the 8 year study cap. Therefore, Point 5: My total study period in the UK so far adds up to 6 years 5 months, which leaves me with 19 months (1year 7 months) left to use on the 8 year study cap. (But remember point 3 above) At Present: I learnt about the return of the Post study work scheme, though it isn't yet in effect, I heard it would only be valid for those graduating from 2021 onwards. My Intention: I plan to leave the UK after my DES expires next year for 6 months and return in less than 180 days to start the MBA. (This gives me 6 months of continuous residency even though I wouldn't be present in the UK for that time as long as I return within 180 days). After the MBA programme: 6months (outside UK) + 18 months (MBA) = 2 years Post study work visa = 2 years This adds up to the 4 years that I need to qualify for ILR. Questions: Will the new PostStudyWork visas start automatically after 2021 Masters completion, or these would have to be applied for? Is it possible for me to apply for an 18 month MBA course, even though I now have a PhD? Does anyone know any UK universities that offer 18 month MBA programmes that begin in March/April 2021? Would there be any issues with my current situation and intentions above? Other suggestions are welcome. |

justwise:That's what I'm not sure of. I know for sure I can't do another masters in a science field because it wouldn't demonstrate academic progression (considering I already have a science PhD). While an MBA is more business inclined. I would like to know if I can still do an MBA given my circumstances. |

esterella:I just know, you have to find another Tier 2 job quickly or risk returning to your home country if you can't switch or you do not already qualify for ILR on the Tier2 route or any other route. 1 Like 1 Share |

justwise:Hi thanks for your response Justwise, If the new 2 year PSW will be applied directly to the Tier4 visa when its initially granted for the MBA, then I see why it would take me past the 8 year study limit, and hence I wont be getting it. but if i am issued with 18months only Tier 4 visa and required to apply separately after completion of the course for the PSW, then I should be safely within my 8 year limit right? (I am not currently studying, as i'm on DES, my current total study period is 6years5months and I still have 19 months before I use up the 8 year study cap). I know Tier 2 is what everyone says, but I am worried about where to get the 1 year from if the employers refuse to extend past the 3 years. Also I have heard to switch to another Tier 2, the new employer needs to conduct RLMT. So I might as well just do the MBA for 18 months, start PSW and get any job i want free of sponsorship and RLMT for 2 years then apply for ILR. |

Dee282:Thanks for replying to my post. Now people have suggested to keep trying for a Tier 2, but we know how that can be, you literarily have to stay with the company for 3 years then hope they extend it further to cover the 5 years. After what happened to a friend of mine that lost her job on a Tier 2 visa and had to return back to base, I don't want the uncertainty associated with it. I already have 6 years in the bag, i just need 4 more and want as much flexibility as possible to move between well paying companies without the hassle of RLMT if I want to switch to another company while on T2. That's why I'm keeping an eye out for what other options are available. I am also considering Tier 1 routes, but I want to see if an MBA would give me exposure to business for that, as I am not really currently business inclined. I can then choose either to go for Start-up afterwards or just sit in with the new PSW depending on how it is applied (both of which last 2 years with no obligation to be attached to a company that may or may not decide to keep me after 3 years of labour). 1 Like |

umarwy:Thanks, I am currently in a research position but even that is just for the duration of my DES. Now people have suggested to keep trying for a Tier 2, but we know how that can be, and after what happened to a friend of mine that lost her job on a Tier 2 visa, I don't want the uncertainty associated with it. I haven't really looked too much into the requirements for start up visa, but I heard its only for 2 years. I need 4. I am also currently learning about the exceptional talent visa and that may eventually be what I go for, but I heard (and i may be wrong here) that it works better for those already on Tier 1, 2 or 5? Thats why I want to also investigate this PSW route. |

Eraytee: Thanks. Do I get invited for sure if my score is higher than the cut-off? I'm currently at 449 and i see the lowest score as of 16th october was 357. What do you think are my chances? If I get ITA, won't a sudden increase in my bank statement raise eyebrows? As for IELTS I still need help with this so please anyone help. Also how can I get a police certificate in Nigeria? I'm currently in the UK. And how do I go about getting an alternative document for work experience as my previous work place (Nysc) people have refused to give me a letter due to God knows what's wrong with them. Sorry for too many questions |

Hi all, I have all my WES documents now. And I have IELTS band score 8 which expires in December this year. The only issue is I don't have the funds to show ready yet. Can I submit to enter the pool without the money in the bank just yet? I plan to get the money immediately I am invited to apply (ITA) by the Canadian authorities. Also would I be required to still have a valid IELTS result after I have been invited?. Example: my IELTS expires 6th December 2019, and I am invited to apply November 15th 2019, would I still need another IELTS test result? 1 Like |

Hi, I am inviting my brother for my graduation here in the UK, it is next month. However, I have never invited anyone before. So I need a bit of help with the cost. My brother is married but he would be coming alone, he doesn't know how much it would cost him to come here and what documents are required. Could someone help me with an estimate? |

If I apply now my score is 439 If I apply in 2 months after WES verification, my score would be 434 If I do in 3 months with PhD my score would be 449. What do you think are my chances of getting called up before December when my IELTS expires? |

Please still on this NYSC thing. I served in 2010, so i have till the end of this year to apply for this Canada thing. Must the reference be on letter headed paper? Also the only person I know who used to work at my PPA said he is no longer with them. What alternative do i have? How did you guys cope with the payslip or proof of payment salary thing? Will the low minimum wage they paid us then be a red flag? Also i was paid separately by the PPA and the Federal government. I no longer have access to the bank account I received both payments with. My IELTS is 8.0 band score but it expires this December. I have an MSc BSc and PhD should come in about 3 months time. WES has evaluated other certificates but my Bsc transcript has been the culprit, it's taken my university over a year to process it but they will get it done in at least the next 2 month's. Help a sister oh. I beg you. What do I do? |

vcole:Hi vcole, I saw your reply to someone about using NYSC for work experience. I have contacted my ppa for the letter and they asked me to send the details for it. Now I understand from your reply to that post that it's best to use the NYSC official dates i.e camp date to date of ppa on the cert to get 1 year. Did you have to include your nysc cert as supporting document to this effect? What did you do about the salary part? My ppa only paid N5000 a month as it was in government. Do you think this would affect my application as regards the normal expectations for NOC? |
