Yes oo. It is a 4 bedroom house we are getting for 140k.
This is awesome! Sounds ridiculously cheap. More info please. Is it for a new build, old house or derelict house needing renovation? I’ve got a friend that turns around cheap BTL properties in Liverpool, but not heard of opportunities like these in Nort East. Please shed more light. Thanks

You wouldn't be asked to leave if your application was refused as you're still on a valid PG visa.

How long do you have left on your PG visa?
If more than 1 year, it might be worth getting a new entrant visa as that would give you around 3 years more?

Would your new employer agree to issuing another CoS indicating new entrant and with revised sponsorship dates?
Sorry for the digression. Please what happens to someone on a 5yr visa on shortage Code is 2114 (Hydrogeologist), when the spouse applies for a dependant visa? Is there a salary threshold to meet? Thanks

The bolded is applauding mediocrity. Do you praise your UK employer for paying your salary at the end of the week/month, so why is it commendable in Nigeria? They should also be paid on time and in full, it's their right if they've done the work, and not a privilege.
Just google how many states are owing salaries and pensions or how much Alex Otti’s predecessor was owing, then you’ll understand the context and know it’s a BIG DEAL. This is Naija where you can rig elections and getaway with it, nothing like voters will remove you from office. Impunity everywhere.

You are better off if you have a deposit starting the process and learning along the way. I got told I couldn’t get one before staying for two years and I did it in a year. I got rejected from a couple lenders but eventually one came through. A sound broker is the most important element as they will help you navigate things.
Who was your broker/lender please?

@house, is two years stay in the UK compulsory before one can access mortgage? Rent money is dead money😀 and I'm mot happy seeing my money going to one small boy every month. Now my rent will expire this weekend and the guy has sent me a mail that he want to increase rent by 100 quid
Most lenders will ask for 25% deposit to offset the risk.

Greetings everyone, Please I need your help. I created an online survey to be used as an assignment (Market analysis) in my course. 10 questions, will take less than 5 minutes.

The deadline is before noon Monday week, I am aiming for at least 50 responses. Ejo, biko please come to my aid.

Here is is the link to the survey:

Thanks!

If it’s not too much to ask, please like this post so I can have an idea of the number of responses I’m getting.
Done. Actually took less than two mins. Interestingly enough, it’s an app I’d like to use if developed. Tired of driving long distances to play 5-a-side football. Good luck!

Hello Everyone,

Please mortgage expert in the house should kindly advice on the following:

Can I get a mortgage in the UK with work visa?
If yes, what percentage will I need as deposit?
Yes you can. Most lenders will need you to have been in the country for 2yrs to access 10% deposit mortgages, otherwise they might ask for 25%. You’ll also be subject to affordability and other checks.

Never applied for a German Schengen visa but used successfully for Netherlands and Portugal in the past. I see no reason why it shouldn’t work though as it’s a valid reservation. Those agents have their ways of making the flight booking.

It's a Business visit visa.

Are those tickets fully refundable?
I use the below website for dummy Flight reservation for visa purposes. Paid approx 30usd via PayPal. Once visa is approved, you can then buy the real ticket.

Good morning house,
Thank you for all informations here.
Please help a sister, I am looking for where I can do fibroid surgery more affordable, here in the uk.
The NHS procedure is not encouraging.
Please the pain am going tru now it's too much, and its start affecting my job.
Please help a sister.
Sorry to hear about your predicament.

From my experience, I’ve been to a Women’s hospital where a Naija lady had multiple fibroids removed. Consultants were joking she’d lost so much weight post-surgery. I don’t know whether it was a scheduled procedure or if she came in via A&E. If you’re that much pain/discomfort, I’d suggest going through A&E. Maybe talk to Doctor friends for advice on trigger words to use etc. Hopefully you get seen soon. Good luck!

Hello. Thank you for your reply. However, I browsed about this and I could only similar thing written for tourist/visitor visa to the Netherlands i.e that you’re allowed to stay for 3 months in a 6 months period but that it can be shortened at the discretion of the issuing authority…so I wonder if there is a particular way you made the application to be granted a year visa validity ? Also did you mention plans to enter other countries apart from Netherlands to be granted the multi entry allowed visa ?
Further, I curiously noted requirements to procure a health insurance for ur visa application. How did you go about this too ?
I’d really appreciate your assistance.
To answer your questions
1. Nothing special about my application. Provided all the documents, booked flights/hotels, itinerary etc. I watched videos on social media of recent applicants as a guide.
2. You need to get travel health insurance, just google it. Lots of providers. I paid less than £50 or so for annual coverage.

In all, it’s not that daunting, just read up on the requirements and go from there. Good luck!

You may find this NL EE thread helpful: https://www.nairaland.com/6829885/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled#107239666

NOCs can be edited, no need to delete the profile - FAQ 26 covers this.
Post 2 on page 1 of the EE thread also has the history of draws since 2015.
There have been only 2 STEM draws since CBDs were launched, but multiple Healthcare, Agric and French draws have happened. Healthcare dropped to 422 and French to 336 - a viable plan B for some.

Study the links marked HERE on the first page - very straight forward process.
Thanks for sharing. How many transport sector draws?

Hello. Is it possible to apply now and be waiting for biometrics dates even though I don’t have financial account ready for the application until April ending ? I am considering having a visa that will be valid through the Olympics period.
Go for Netherlands Schengen. They typically give one year multi-entry. It starts counting from your intended travel date. Some other countries only give 3months single entry.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/submit-profile/rounds-invitations/category-based-selection.html

This lists the professions eligible for a category based draw. Worth noting the job codes can be manytimes flexible. If you can't see yours but see related fields, it'd be worth reading the description of the job code to see what it actually entails.

With Canada, their process takes time. Visit visa took me about 8 months. Applied as a tourist, filled online form + showed funds and booked a refundable stay for my duration (cos I knew I'd need to cancel it later). After a month or 2, they asked for my biometrics. Took several more months for them to ask for my passport. I had just got a 10yr validity visa before commencing the process so overall multiple entry visit visa valid for 10yrs was worth the wait.
Thanks for the link, very helpful. I’ve just seen an NOC I can use. However, I have a five months old EE profile with a different NOC. Can I update the NOC to this new category one? Or should I just delete the old profile and create a new one? I also saw there was a draw for 975 people recently (March 13), how often do they return to same NOC code after a draw? Thanks a lot. Canada PR process can be so complicated Mehn.

Yeah... so I thought. But with the new category based entry draws (which includes STEM), age has much less of an effect on the outcome. Moreso the cutoff for the category based draw is falling round by round (which could change soon as folks become more aware). For those near the cutoff, provinces would usually send then letters inviting them for a nomination which if acceptedand followed through essentially guarantees a PR. With UK experience in IT, one should be able to apply for tech jobs there which would give a work permit.
Considering the time and effort put you have put in and you being certain you'd want to continue in IT, the UK should work out but if it doesn't, it's worth not being boxed into a corner.

I'm above 30 and applied mid-last year- got a provisional nomination within a month (didn't accept it) and was picked up by the next federal draw a month afterwards. A bit of a wait and many docs requested and have now been invited to send my passport in to conclude the process. Overall, it was pretty straightforward.

Alternative could be to apply for a visit visa and get a feel directly- long wait but their visas are valid for the duration of the passport. I.e 10yrs for a 10yr passport validity.
Thanks for sharing. For the new categories, any opportunities for supply chain professionals? Any links with more info as well?
Also how long is the Canada visitor visa process take? End-to-end, i.e. from submitting application to their request for your passport?

Bot - https://visabot.eu/uk

When applying, you'll fill out a form, called Videx. On that form, they'll ask which country you are entering first, which other countries you intend to visit, and the number of entries you want (single, twice, multiple). As I was applying for the first time, I selected Germany only, tourist, 3 days, single visit to increase my chances of getting it. However, just because you pick multiple does not mean you'll get it. How many entries you get is solely at the discretion of the embassy.

And if you are applying for a visa to travel to multiple countries in the Schengen area, it is advisable to apply at the embassy of the country you are entering first or you are spending the longest time.

When you get the visa, you can travel to as many Schengen countries as you want within the validity of that visa.
Thanks again Samguine for sharing this bot. Finally got an appointment after many weeks! For all those interested, there’s Netherlands Schengen slots from May onwards. I got the notifications last night. Good luck!

Just read that an arrest has been made by the police. It was really disheartening to watch the video yesterday.

I have been thinking hard since yesterday on how to educate my kids about handling bullies.
Heart wrenching video indeed. Lots of cases on WhatsApp groups and social media of bullying in school. Some parents have responded by saying they’ll teach their kids self-defence or telling their child to target one of them in the group and the others will scram. But I’m not buying that solution. I feel it could end up badly. Please let’s have an open conversation on other options for kids facing bullying/racism, very horrible situation.

I read it's not a legal requirement to get a driving instructor before going for practical driving test.

So do you think practicing the routes, studying a lot of DGN videos and putting the car in order (no dashboard lights on) would be enough?
You can go with your own car as long as it meets the requirements. I wasn’t comfortable with that option though. Wanted an experienced instructor that was familiar with that centre/examiners.
I also wanted to get feedback on my driving with mock test.

Hi People,

Please I am in dire need of a driving instructor in Leeds. I have done driving lessons in Bradford, however, the earliest test date I could get is sometime in July. I have changed to a closer date (23rd of this month) and just need an instructor in Leeds for about 3-5 hours lesson so as to familiarise myself with the route. The test is for an automatic car and I already have 5 years experience back home.

Please recommend a good instructor as I don't want to move dates. I have contacted a few driving schools from my search online and they said they don't take in candidates with less than a month to the driving test.

Please please.
Hmmm strange no one wants to take you on. Have you driven in the UK with your 1yr “allowance” ? If so, I think you might be able to do a crash course with some of the independent driving instructors. Just try and convince them you’re almost ready and just need touching up as you’re rough around the edges, especially as your is automatic which is a lot easier. Some might do a mock test to ascertain your level to see if you’re worth taking on. You could also go the test centre and source instructors from there. Some desperate trainers are usually lurking around.

For me personally, the driving experience was easy. (I even felt over-prepared at the end of the day, after all the warnings and scare mongering). Maybe it’s because I:
- have driven for many years in Nigeria
- drove in the UK for one year with my Nigerian drivers licence (manual)
- passed theory test (first time)
- passed practical (first time with only one minor)
- did a bunch of crash courses with 3 different instructors. First two instructors, said I was NOT ready or not available for my target date and wanted me to push it backwards. Found a 3rd guy who was very calm and reassuring. He told me my driving was at a very high standard and just needed to brush off some minor bad habits, took me for 3 or 4 mock sessions and that was it.
- also watched a lot of DGN and other YouTube videos
- I practiced all the test routes in my local area multiple times (by myself).

To anyone reading this, it is possible!

Congratulations on your new offer. Your employer should be able to request an ECS check from the Home Office and you'll be able to work full time.

I had a similar situation last year, got 2 offers while awaiting decision on my psw application and both employers requested an ecs check with the HO using my application reference number. Home Office respond within 1 week and I was able to start one of the jobs before I got a decision. The ECS check is valid for six months.

Here's what an ECS looks like, it was addressed to the employer and I downloaded a copy from one of the employer's application portal.
Some employers won’t accept this because your ECS CHECK in Section 4 says you’re limited to 20hrs a week. If the offer is for a full time position, it will contravene the section.

Happy Sunday, below is my situation, I got a job offer(application /interview process was faster than anticipated) and I initially told them I will be resuming next week but my issue is, have already applied for my skilled worker dependant visa but not out yet and I supposed to submit it with my documentation.

I can't resume the work with my student visa hence why I applied already to switch.

My question is: can I write the company to change my resumption date?
Or what's your advice?
This your situation just gave me de ja vu. I’ll tell the whole story then maybe you can pick one or two lessons to apply.

Few years ago, like you, I was on a student visa and in the process of switching to a dependent visa (skilled worker).
The Home Office website stated standard processing time was 2 months or so. In the end it took 4+ months (I applied in July, got the decision late October). In retrospect, I should have paid the extra money for express visa (extra £1 or 2K can’t remember again).
I applied for the jobs in advance; got several offers. Some bounced me at the point of share code check because of student visa limitations of 20h/week. And dependent visa was taking time without any concrete timescales.
Finally got a managerial offer with £50k+ salary based in London. These guys were wiling to wait but not indefinitely. They were calling regularly just to check up with the visa. I just dey bobo them every week just to buy time.
I sent Home Office all kinds of emails/letters/calls. Nothing positive, just auto or generic responses…High volumes of applications, Ukraine & Afghanistan were priority etc.
Then I went to my local MP to complain.
He took my details and wrote to the Home Office stating my predicament (loss of jobs, potential loss of £50k job and loss for the economy as my job was in high demand etc.)

Within weeks Home Office responded to him, telling him there’s backlog blah blah blah.

I kept following up, going to his Constituency office/surgery monthly and calling his office as well. Then his staff would chase Home Office again.

Long story short, I got a decision late October to resume Nov. Just at the point the employer was about to withdraw my offer after waiting a whole two months for me!
I was so grateful to them all. Bought MP Christmas card, bottle of wine and chocolates for his staff. Gave my all for my “new” employer as a gesture of appreciation.
So yeah, I know how you feel, try and be diplomatic with the new guys and escalate your visa application through all channels..
Happy to help if you need more info privately.
Goodluck

@ the bolded..I know cases where people planned well and still got the burnt end of the stick. Its not really a one size fit all. Someone I know after being sponsored for 3 and half years, His organisation filed for bankruptcy and when under. That's how dude found himself without sponsorship and with just 90days to find another. Despite being a software developer he was unable to get a job to sponsor him within the time period. He got several offers but just not one that would sponsor. Bobo was well established here, bought his house, and all. Luckily he already had plan B else na back to Tibunu and sundry. He still feels burnt on how he had to leave the country. May life not happen to us despite all our plans.
Exactly. Man proposes, God disposes. Few days ago, I caught up with my coursemate from over 10yrs ago in a Russell Group uni and we were discussing escalation of tuition fees. In 2010, middle class families could plan with 5 or 6m /annum to send their kids abroad. Now same undergraduate degree is about 60M per annum!!! Which kind of planning do you want to do to afford that dream now? It means only politicians or extremely wealthy people can sponsor their children abroad. It’s totally crazy. Not to mention those caught in the crosshairs of £1/2000+ from £1/500+ CBN rate two years ago.

I do not have first hand experience buying a show home but I know people who have and in each case they were happy with their purchase. I had to opportunity to buy a show home last year unfortunately my finances weren't in order, now I am the process of getting same type of house like the showhome but I can see that the showhome had a lot of extra in the build that I wish It was still available to me, I wouldn't mind paying more for all the extra's. In the case of the people I know that got show homes, some were able to negotiate very good discounts as the show home was the last to sell off in the development while others paid slightly more for the extra. I guess it depends on the developers and varying circumstances
Thanks for your insight. Based on your experience/perspective. What’s a reasonable/avg amount to set aside for the extras apart from the deposit? Extra 10k? 20k? I’m trying to plan as well so as not to be “shocked” at the additional costs involved. Thanks

Staying 6 months doesn't violate any rules, however she will be scrutinized if she shows up at border with 6month ticket or any length longer than what you put in the application

Lastly her next visa application her length of stay on previous visit will come under scrutiny unless there's like a long interval between both visits
What’s the recommended interval if I may ask? I know someone who’s got 2yr visa. Can the person spend 6mths, 2 months interval, the come back for another 6mths? Any risk of being turned away at Border Control?

1. Has anyone bought a new build “show home” before? How much extra was it? Just feel a lot more stress-free than furnishing to the same standard.

2. Any concerns in buying a house in a 99% white community? Most new builds are in less urban areas with lots of non-immigrants as majority, kinda looking for a mix to get a good community vibe. Any tips on this?

Thanks ahead
