RobbStark: This their desperate attempt at claiming Opobo n bonny started the moment Buhari said they are like a dot in a circle. Go thro the timeline, you will notice that. Don't worry brother, their noise ends in this forum, no be today dem start to claim lands. No where e reach. After all they yet to see anyone in this forum who claims to be Ibo at the same time from Opobo or Bonny I know. I'm not worried one bit.I just feel pity at this moment. They are pulling at everything to gain relevance. The Fulanis and Yorubas have reduced them to nothing in Nigeria.Like a woman who has been raped repeatedly and has lost every self esteem. |

Igboid: Then stop panicking
Let me tell you an example of effort in futility.
The useless attempt to implant the dead Kalabari language called Ibani in Opobo and Bonny. That's an example of an exercise in futility.
It has been on since 1990s and now a yearly jamboree and avenue for funds embezzlement for Opobo and Bonny politicians. I bet they would be earmarking huge state funds for it. And after the whole jamboree, they all go back home to speak their beautiful Igbo language with their wives and children, probably mocking you desperate Bayelsans in their bedrooms. But I thought at some time in the life of Nairaland you said Kalabaris are Igbos,so also are Okrika. All these were done to reduce the presence of Ijaws in the costal area. Are they now Ijaws? |

Igboid: Okay. So I'm back.
Finally, what we have been able to achieve in this thread is to establish that the Igbo presence in Bonny is Aboriginal and not only via slave trade.
This is very important, because no one have been able to argue this point convincingly and provide evidence for it before now.
The second stage is awareness creation. We have to find a way to put this information out there in the real world and make it a common knowledge! Social media would help on this. And I reckon this should move smoothly.
The next stage is to get the academia involved. Our professors in history at our universities in SE should earn their keep. We need them to ruin Alagoa intellectually by publishing books on Bonny and Opobo to correct Alagoa manipulations and force Alagoa into an intellectual debate. It would be interesting to see the old fox grasping at straws like JANK23H have been doing on this thread. Like Eastlink noted, Alagoa cannot be dragged by people like us. We need our big wigs in the Academia to do the job! Gidi gidi bu ugwu Eze. Ekelu Olu eke!
Then the most important aspect, we need a political will. And this can only happen when we start putting people who reason beyond women, drinks, parties, stashing of public funds abroad and jetting off to live abroad come the end of their tenure, in positions of power in Igboland. This obviously cannot be achieved with IPOB methods that shies away from taking control of Political power in SE and the enormous finance that this could give to us to finance a Better positioned and reformed Ohanaeze to do it's ground job of cultural unification of all Igbo speaking people. We have to start putting people of substance who reason beyond their clan , village, town and state and close ranks with counterparts from Igbo speaking regions in SS, SE and NC to achieve a purpose. Zik was Better in this aspect, that was how we got Osadebey to be the premier of Mid Western region.
In my opinion, this is the challenge facing us.
But we are already doing alot just by discussing this topic. Bla BLA BLA...... Aborigines in your heads.Nothing was proved here. All was effectively countered. By the way,you are mine now and will be know from henceforth as Porbeni. |

RobbStark: Nwaotam is a borrowed play in Opobo n Bonny. But it has come to stay as it is a play used to identify the people. That is not the only masquerade being played in Opobo. Every 25th of December, it is played in Port Harcourt (talking of the Opobo own) and 1st of January in Opobo. Bonny plays theirs on the 15th of December.
Now, after nwaotam is played on the 1st, it ushers in the celebrations in the town, where other masquerades play like Owu-tariah etc.
Don't take that to mean the town is purely Ibo nah! This is 6:30pm this is a pic of the waterfront. I am just chilling having a cool breeze to my skin I'm impressed. Endeavour to have time stamps on all images. You know how they twist things. |

Alabo7978: lol, confusion in the camp of drug dealing land grabbers. do you know how many Eze'ndigbo they have all over Nigeria? eze'ndigbo Lagos, Eze'ndigbo ogun, Eze'ndigbo Ondo. The igbos are known travelers, entering everywhere uninvited. they wanted to do that at cross river (Eze'ndigbo of Cross river) the cross river traditional rulers agressively halted it. if care is not taken, 9pluto, Ekealterego, Igboid, Bkayy, SlayerForever of the future in 400 years time will claim the igbos owned those states.
igbos who don't have affinity to water, who dread the swamp and mangroves now suddenly claiming to be Water people. Father lord! Igbos who were slaves in Bonny just as pepple and crowther said. igbos who were given freedom by Asimini because they showed they aided him in war.
funny enough, land grabbing clowns never want to talk about the ijoh enculturating ritual. (I will write a thread about THE ENCULTURATING RITUAL) where certain rites and spiritual practices are carried out before the spirits to change a person's ancestral identity. if ijohs weren't the land lord, why were igbos enculturated Ekealterego, 9pluto etc answer.
why were there enculturating rituals performed on Igbo slaves?? infact the igbos should stop seeing Jaja as Igbo anymore, he swore before the spirits, cleansed his blood, renounce his ancestry and tribe, even his name to be JUBO JUBOGHA. that alone is big prove that the ijos were the owners, lord and master of the Igbos, and bonny.
captain8 Putindbutt ditaridesciple2 how about we think of names to rename our slaves?
I earlier renamed Ekealterego OTONYE DOMOKUMA 9pluto, SlayerForever Igboid biafrarep bkayy needs to be renamed ASAP. we need to enculturate them like our ancestors did. Igboid: You are being ridiculous.
We are discussing Bonny history. Provide a source showing the presence of Jos men as Aboriginals in Bonny, you couldn't.
You went and provided a source showing that Ijaws were found in Rivers along the region, as if that was ever in doubt or part of the argument.
You are consciously obfuscating issues having lost the argument.
You are not a serious student. You entered exam and saw you have no answers to questions raised, you decided to set your own questions and Mark the exam sheet yourself while insisting the result must be recognized after all the questions you set can be found in same textbook your lecturer set the main exam.

Igboid: Writer was speaking of Aboh.
Before Aboh, there was Akili/Akarai, an ancient Igbo speaking group who used to occupy the exact spot you have Aboh standing on today. Aboh was formed in Akarai land. Until Akarai was vanquished and scattered all over Anambra (Ogbaru) and Rivers (Ogba and Ekpeye), there was no Aboh. Aboh were recent migrants to the place, they were Igbo speakers who lived in the vicinity of Bini, like IKa and Igbanke do today before they Left and settled in Akarai land.
The writer was not wrong on Aboh being recent migrants to the place. What he didn't state was that Akarai were already living there and were scattered and their land possessed by Aboh people. Still the same beer parlour gist. You made the standard, abide by it.Drop receipts. |

Nnaa, are you sure you are alright? I'm done with you! I would have used certain words, but I'll refrain. It's just like saying Igbos occupied villages around Otammiri river, but because no mention was made of Obinze or Umuchima that means Obinze or Umuchima are not Igbo villages, even when that river cuts right through them. Come on na,reason. |
Politics › Re: The True Identity Of Bonny/Opobo(UBANI) People Facts Versus Fiction by JANK23H(m): 3:28pm On Dec 05, 2021 |
Igboid: You are not making sense.
The Igbos were already in Aboh before another set of Igbos who were living in Bini came to meet them.
The Igbo group Aboriginals to Aboh were called the "Akarai/Akili", they were the ones who welcomed the Bini cultured Igbos who left Bini Kingdom led by Esumai to join them.
The Akarai people accomodated the Igbo speaking but Bini cultured Esumai led party to the land we call Aboh today. But trouble happened between the both, so the Bini party won, and chased off the Akarai/Akili people and possessed the land. The Akarai people were forced to cross the Niger and formed the Akili communities in Ogbaru LGA named Akili-Ozizor ( Stella Odua is from here), Akili-Ogidi and Akili-Atani (Osita Osadebey is from here). The rest of Akarai people were forced to travel further south the River Niger, they crossed the Orashi river and formed the Ogba and Ekpeye. When Ogba and Ekpeye claim their progenitor was Akalaka, it's actually Akarai/Akili that they corrupted.
Now the Akili/Akarai/Akalaka were called so because they use to have a distinct type of facialmarks (which in Igbo is called Akalaka).
Long story short, the Aboh didn't meet the land empty, they met the Akarai, an Indigenous Igbo speaking people on that land, who they fought, won and displaced. Some Akarai people stayed in Aboh and was assimilated, some of them are still scattered all over Ndokwa region.
This is the history of ABOH.
Stop meddling into things you know nothing about.
Isoko is basically a union of Edoid(Urhobo), Ijoid and Igboid speakers, who became Edoid with unique flavor I didn't dig that out of my ass,the writer stated that. Drop receipts of your own story, not beer parlour gist abeg |

But please can you circle the part of the snippet where it was written that the people of Bonny are people of Jos. Still the same comprehension problem I've been talking about. The essence of the map is to help you situate where the rivers are.The Rio Real is right in the middle of Bonny. If he said the Jos occupied the Rio Real,it means they were indigenous to Bonny. That Chapter was dedicated to the life and habits of the Jos. Stop feigning ignorance. |

Vintagepipes: ....Well summarised.
.....The Bini did the same thing in Delta state.
.....They told the story and put it in Ika and Ukwuani psyche that Igbo means slave. For the Biniphilic, people from these places, this is what they were told.
.......I now ask this intelligent question, why would Eboe mean slave, when the greatest kingdom in your domain, Aboh when your ancestors arrived was Igbo.
They have the same blueprint...
understand that the Ejors learnt from the Binis, until Algoa erased it, this was their belief. Actually, from the book Igboid was so eager to quote on Igbo metal smiths among the Southern Edo showed Igbos were migrants to Aboh.
