Food / Anti-aging Diet: Foods That Fight Wrinkles by jannydear(f): 2:23pm On Nov 10, 2017
According to a recent national survey by Allergan, Inc., approximately 60 percent of women 21- to 65-years-old said they would rather have a younger-looking face than a younger-looking body.

Now researchers have claimed that the basic key to aging beautifully and gracefully is to eat healthy, not the expensive creams and procedures. So, let’s take a look at which foods to avoid and which to add to your plate for beautiful, younger- looking skin.

Leafy green vegetables

Green leafy vegetables also help in keeping your skin healthy and hydrated. Excellent choices are broccoli, spinach, kale and mustard greens will keep your skin hydrated and healthy. Green juices are also an easy way to help absorb the nutrients more quickly.
Avoid Inflammatory foods.
“Foods that causes inflammation work against aging,” said Dr. Frank Lipman, an integrative and functional medicine physician and author of “The New Health Rules.” Get rid of packaged, processed and fast foods, as well as gluten, dairy and sugar. Lipman says consuming excess sugar will make you more susceptible to wrinkles.

Antioxidants

Spending too much time out in the sun cause of aging. The sun creates free radicals that can permanently destroy healthy skin cells. Yet the sun is not the only culprit— an unhealthy diet can do the same. Consume a variety of brightly colored, antioxidant-rich foods that contain carotenoids and which can protect the skin and reverse some damages. Examples of such foods are carrots, pumpkin, tomatoes, and kale.

Omega fatty acids

A good way of preventing wrinkles is to keep your skin well-hydrated from the inside out. Omega fatty acids -3, -6, and -9 found in healthy fats and oils are important in preventing wrinkles because they become part of the skin cell walls. “If the cell walls of skin are plump, the skin will look more hydrated,” said Paula Simpson, a beauty nutritionist. Go for salmon, walnuts, flaxseeds, chia seeds, coconut oil, olive oil and avocado.

Potassium-rich foods

Dark circles under your eyes may be genetic, but they can also be caused by water retention or eating foods rich in sodium. The sodium in your body can be counterbalanced by eating lots of fruits and vegetables, as well as potatoes, nuts, beans, legumes, meat, poultry and fish. Reducing your consumption of salty foods is also good for your skin.

Fermented foods

Lipman said probiotics regulate digestion and put the good bacteria back in the gut, which can also help skin look healthy. Probiotic-rich foods includes Kimchi, Sauerkraut, kefir, and fermented vegetables.

Phytoceramides

“As we age, the outer layer of the skin called the ‘epidermis’, thins and weakens, making it susceptible to dehydration and wrinkling,” Simpson said.
Also, production of ceramides (molecules that keep the skin firm), begins to slow down. Phytoceramides, plant-based ceramides found in wheat germ, brown rice, spinach and beets, can help to protect the outer layer of the skin.

Amino acids

The weakening of collagen and elastin in the skin is another cause of wrinkles as we age. Amino acids found in protein sources can help restore damage. Meat, fish, eggs, tofu, nuts, and seeds are all excellent sources.

Rooibos tea

Rooibos tea hydrates the skin and is an excellent alternative to coffee. The tea is high in polyphenols that help protect the skin from premature aging.

Health / 8 Signs And Symptoms Of Kidney Stones by jannydear(f): 6:05pm On Nov 09, 2017
Kidney stones can be described as hard collections of salt and minerals which consists of calcium or uric acid. The formation of a kidney stone occurs when excess of certain minerals in your body accumulate in your urine. They form inside the kidney and travel to other parts of the urinary tract.

Kidney stones vary in size, some are as small and others can grow to a few inches. In some rare cases, some kidney stones can get so big that they occupy the entire kidney.

READ ALSO: Kidney Stones: Symptoms, Causes, Types, Risk factors, and Treatment

When you aren’t well hydrated, your urine becomes more concentrated with higher levels of some minerals. A kidney stone will likely form when levels of minerals in your urine are high.

People with high risk of developing kidney stones are:

Men, though it can form in women too.
Obese people
Those with diabetes

Smaller kidney stones left in the kidney don’t cause any symptoms. You might not notice anything is wrong until the stone moves into the tube that urine travels through to get from your kidney to your bladder called ureter.

Kidney stones are very painful, but it is possible for some stones to pass out on their own during urination without any symptom. However, you may need a procedure to remove stones that don’t pass.

8 Signs and Symptoms of Kidney Stones

Here are eight signs and symptoms that you may have kidney stones.

1. Pain in the belly, back or side

Kidney stone pain is also called renal colic. It is probably one of the most severe types of pain. People who’ve one experienced kidney stones liken the pain to that experienced during childbirth or a knife stab pain. The pain is extremely severe enough to account for lots of yearly visits to emergency rooms.

READ ALSO: 11 Bad Habits That Can Damage Your Kidneys

Kidney stone pains usually begins when a stone moves into the narrow ureter, causing a blockage, which leads to pressure build up in the kidney. The pressure triggers nerve fibers that transmit pain signals to the brain. Kidney stone pain often starts suddenly. The pain usually deepens and changes position as the stone moves.

The pain fluctuates in waves and deteriorates as the ureters contract when they try to push out the stone. Each wave may vanish for a few minutes before returning again.

You may feel the pain along your side, back, and below your ribs. The pains may also radiate to your belly and groin area as the stone moves through your urinary tract.

Note that the intensity of pain doesn’t necessarily relate to the size of the stone. A little stone can equally cause severe pain.

2. Pain during urination

You may begin to feel pains during urination once the stone reaches the junction between the ureter and bladder, a condition described as dysuria. The pain may be felt as a severe burning sensation. You might mistake the symptom for a urinary tract infection. Sometimes an infection comes along with the stone.

3. Urgent need to go to the convenient regularly

Needing to go to the bathroom more frequently than usual is another sign that the stone has moved into the lower part of your urinary tract. You may experience frequent and urgent need to pass out urine throughout the day and night.

4. Blood in the urine

Kidney stones is also associated with blood in the urine, a condition called hematuria. The color of the blood may appear as red, pink, or brown. Sometimes the blood cells are too small to see without a microscope (called microscopic hematuria), but your doctor can test for this symptom.

5. Cloudy or smelly urine

Healthy urine is clear and doesn’t have a strong odor. However when your urine becomes cloudy or with a foul odour, that could be a sign of an infection in your kidneys or another part of your urinary tract. A condition called pyuria (pus in urine), can also make urine appear cloudy. The unpleasant odour may be caused by bacteria that cause urinary tract infections.

6. Urinating small amount at a time

In some cases, large kidney stones get stuck in a ureter, blocking, slowing or completely stopping the urine flow. You may only urinate a little each time you go if you have a blockage. Urine flow that stops entirely needs urgent medical attention.

7. Nausea and vomiting

People with kidney stone can also have a wave of nausea and vomiting. These symptoms are caused by shared nerve connections between the kidneys and the gastro-intestinal tract. Kidney stones can trigger nerves in the gastro-intestinal tract, thereby leading to upset stomach.

8. Fever and chills

Fever and chills may mean you have an infection in your kidney or another part of your urinary tract. It can also be a complication to a kidney stone or other serious problems besides kidney stones. If your fever is accompanied with pain, see your doctor immediately.

Health / Early Symptoms Of HIV: Symptoms In Men And Women by jannydear(f): 3:39pm On Nov 09, 2017
Your immune system begins to react to the rapidly multiplying virus as soon as you are infected with HIV. This is known as the acute stage. Some people have only very mild or no symptoms at all.

Others have symptoms that include:

Sore throat fever
fever
headache
upset stomach
swollen lymph glands
general body aches
skin rash
Symptoms may be recurrent or last for weeks. Because these symptoms are similar to common illnesses like the flu, you might not want to see a doctor. Even if your doctor suspects the flu or mononucleosis, HIV may not be considered.

Your viral load is likely very high during this period when it is still undetected. It can be easily passed to someone else during unprotected sexual intercourse.

READ ALSO: Facts To Know About HIV, AIDS: Symptoms And Treatment

Initial symptoms usually resolve within a few months as you enter the chronic, or clinical latent stage of HIV. This stage can last many years or even decades with treatment.

Even if caught early, HIV cannot be cured. However, early treatment with antiretroviral medication can keep your immune system healthy longer to prevent AIDS, and make transmission less likely.

HIV symptoms in men

HIV Symptoms vary from person to person, but they’re similar in men and women. During the first two to four weeks, the virus reproduces at a high rate and you may experience flu-like symptoms such as:

fever
chills
swollen lymph glands
Symptoms can be mild to severe and usually go away within a few weeks. Following the acute stage of infection, it’s not strange to be without symptom for a long time.

As the infection progresses, other symptoms may include:

headaches and other aches and pains
night sweats
fatigue
skin rashes
oral infections
pneumonia
nausea
vomiting
persistent diarrhea
weight loss
These symptoms can be recurrent or get progressively worse. If you’ve been exposed to HIV, you may also have been exposed to other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Men are more likely than women to notice symptoms like sores on their genitals. But men typically don’t seek medical care as often as women.

Without treatment, HIV can advance to AIDS. At that stage, the immune system is so weakened that it cannot fight off the killer disease.

HIV symptoms in women

For the most part, symptoms of HIV are about the same in men and women. The virus reproduces rapidly in the first two to four weeks. Temporary flu-like symptoms in this stage may include:

fever
chills
swollen lymph glands
As the infection progresses, other symptoms may include:

headaches and other aches and pains
night sweats
fatigue
skin rashes
oral infections
pneumonia
nausea, vomiting
persistent diarrhea
weight loss
In addition, women with HIV are at increased risk of:

vaginal yeast infections and other vaginal infections, including bacterial vaginosis
sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, and trichomoniasis
pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
infection of the reproductive organs and menstrual cycle changes
human papillomavirus (HPV), which can cause genital warts and lead to cervical cancer
Another gender difference is that women are less likely than men to notice small spots or other changes to their genitals.

Pets / Should You Have Pets In Your Bed? by jannydear(f): 3:19pm On Nov 08, 2017
Pets especially puppies love sleeping with their owners. No matter how warm and comfortable their crate is, they would prefer snuggling into your covers. In such a case what do you do? Is it safe to have pets in your bed?
Sleeping with pets isn't uncommon. According to a recent survey of pet owners by the American Pet Products Association, nearly half of dogs sleep in their owner's beds. From the survey, 62% of small dogs, 41% of medium-sized dogs and 32% of large dogs sleep with their owners.
The survey also found that 62% of cats sleep with their adult owners, and another 13% of cats sleep with children.
Derek Damin of Kentuckiana Allergy, Asthma & Immunology in Louisville, Ky., says people who suffer from pet allergies or people who are asthmatic should not sleep with their dog or cat or even allow them in the bedroom.
"Use a HEPA filter and keep them out of the bedroom to give your nose a few hours a day to recover," Damin says.
Damin says most pet lovers won't kick out companions, even if they discover their pets are causing allergy problems. For those people he recommends allergy shots to build up a tolerance to the pet dander that causes allergic reactions.
Damin, who has had his miniature dachshund says there’s no issue with having your dog in bed with you as long as you aren’t allergic.
"It's fine as long as it doesn't disturb your sleep."
Pets Can Disturb your sleep
Which brings up another problem with sharing the bed with a pet -- they can disturb your sleep. A study released by the Mayo Clinic Sleep Disorders Center found that about half the patients in the study had a dog or cat, and 53% of those pet owners said their pets disturbed their sleep in some way nightly.
"I've had patients that I've spent visit after visit going over their insomnia problems, trying to figure out what's happening, then I find out they have a dog that's scratching all night," says Lisa Shives, MD, medical director of Northshore Sleep Medicine, a sleep center outside Chicago,
Shives recommends that people who find it hard to sleep at night should consider keeping pets out of the bedroom.

Can Pets Help Sleep?
But for people with no problem falling or staying asleep, Shives says it's fine to allow a dog or cat in the bed.
"There are all kinds of medical benefits to having a pet," says Shives, who sleeps with her 45-pound dog. "And some people might feel safer or calmer with a dog in their bed."
Candace Hunziker of Kennesaw, Ga, says that's exactly why she sleeps with her Labrador retriever mix.
"She sleeps against me and she has very rhythmic breathing and it just puts me out," Hunziker says. "I have insomnia, my whole family does, and we all sleep with dogs. She helps puts me to sleep."

And then there's the whole matter of intimacy, with a pet in the bed. Can it interfere with your sex life? That depends, say Elizabeth and Charles Schmitz, love and marriage experts who wrote "Golden Anniversaries: The Seven Secrets of Successful Marriage."
"Many, many of our successful couples have pets and many sleep with them," Elizabeth Schmitz says.
But how they deal with the issue of intimacy varies, she says.
"Some put them outside the bedroom because they don't want them to watch," she says. "Some give them a treat to distract them. Some don't mind if the pet stays on the bed."
Charles Schmitz says the biggest issue is how both people feel about the pet being there.
"If one person is fine with the dog, but the other isn't, then you've got a problem," he says. "You absolutely have to talk about it and make sure both people are comfortable with the situation."
And it's also important that pets don't physically come between a couple at night, they say.
"The snuggling and the holding and the touching is critical," Elizabeth Schmitz says. "It's one of the seven secrets of a successful marriage. It's more important than sex."

Getting a Cat Out of Your Bed
And even when people finally make the hard decision to eject their pet from the bed, most find it's not an easy task.
Ingrid Johnson, a veterinary technician and consultant on feline behavior at a clinic in Marietta, Ga., says she advises clients to never let their cat in their bedroom if they don't want to sleep with the cat. She says for cats it's all or nothing, so the door must always be open to them, or never open to them.
"If you suddenly shut a cat out of the bedroom, they can get very frustrated and start displaying destructive behavior," Johnson says. "Cats don't react well if you take away territory."
But if a cat that sleeps with its owner must suddenly be banned, Johnson recommends giving the cat something else to do at night. Try giving kitty foraging toys to play with that feed her kibble, or put a cat condo by a window with a light outside.
"All the moths and bugs flying around the light right outside that window is like reality TV for cats," she says.

Getting a Dog Out of Your Bed

Dog trainer Victoria Stilwell says if your dog has no behavioral problems then it's OK to let him sleep in your bed. In fact, from the dog's standpoint, it's a compliment.
"Dogs only sleep with people or dogs they trust," says Stilwell, star of the TV show "It's Me or the Dog."
Stilwell adds that aggressive dogs should not be allowed on beds, stating that if pets become a problem, they have to get off the bed.
That was the case with a couple that Stillwell worked with who slept with three giant, male mastiffs. One of the dogs started lunging at their toddler when she approached the bed, so Stilwell bought three extra large dog beds and taught the dogs to get off the bed on command.
"Make it a game to get off the bed, using lots of praise and petting," Stilwell says. "They get no attention on the bed. Only on the floor."
After a while, when the dogs were ordered off the bed, they got down, although Stilwell says it was at least two weeks before the dogs didn't attempt to get back on the bed.
"You're going to have a few sleepless nights," she says, "but you've got to stick with it."

Health / 7 Exercises To Build A Bigger And Better Butt by jannydear(f): 10:49am On Nov 08, 2017
Choosing the right fitness routine for your butt can help give you that perfect Brazilian butt lift. However, this depends partly on your body type and genes. But what’s important is that everyone can shape up to look better in different outfits. These pictures show you the moves.
1. Work on your Glutes
The shape of the buhind is defined by muscles known as the glutes. They include the gluteus maximus, gluteus medius, and gluteus minimus, as well as the fat that lies over them. Walking, running, and climbing all work the glutes. Use strength training to target these muscles to give you a tighter and rounded butt.
2. Squat and Tone
Squat moves is one of the most vital exercises for sculpting butt. It directly works the glutes. You can improve the outcome of this exercise by holding weights on your hands, and increasing them gradually. Keep feet parallel, shoulder-width apart. Lower your hips slowly as if sitting in a chair, then return to standing. Avoid pushing your knees out in front of your toes. Keep your torso tight and back straight.
3. Ball Squat
A large ball can help with balance while you get used to the form. Do three sets of 15 reps for each exercise on your list. Try to do each exercise thrice a week with exercises focused on other parts of the body. The ball should be placed between your low back and a wall. Perform the classic squat slowly. Walk your feet out in front so that the knees remain behind your toes.
4. Forward Lunge
Forward lunge also helps in toning the thighs and calves, apart from building butt. Take one giant step forward with your feet parallel and hip-distance apart. Slowly lower your body, bending both knees, and return back to standing. Repeat on the other side. Bend your knees no more than 90 degrees. Don’t rest your back knee on the ground.
5. Side Lunge
The side lunge targets the muscle on the outside of the hips, the glutes, and also tones the inner thighs. Bend one knee from a wide stance. Keep the shinbone under that knee straight up from the floor. You can use a shorter stance if the knee falls inside the foot. Lean forward slightly. Put your hands where they help with balance.
6. Leg Lift on the ball
Leg lifts done while you balance on an exercise ball will strengthen your glutes as well as your shoulders and abs. Try lifting both legs at the same time. Keep your abs tight and back flat. Squeeze your glute muscles tight as you lift one leg. Make sure you don’t use your lower back muscles.
7. Bridge
Bride is a super exercises for the glutes, the hamstrings and hips. Lie on your back with knees bent and feet apart. Slowly peel your spine off the floor from the tailbone. As you do this, tighten your glutes and hamstrings. Hold for few seconds when your body has formed a long, slanted line. Then lower slowly and repeat.

Health / How Taking Birth Control Pills Affects A Woman’s Menstrual Flow by jannydear(f): 12:42pm On Nov 07, 2017
Birth control pills, popularly called, ‘the pill’, was unquestionably one of the most remarkable and liberating innovations in the history of medicine. Before now, women weren’t able to separate sex from pregnancy and childbearing.
However, the creation of the pill has given lots of women the freedom to exercise greater control over their own bodies and to make sensible choices about their reproduction.

Birth control pills are synthetic hormones that are very effective when it comes to preventing unwanted pregnancy. Sexually active women rely on the potency of the pill to avoid pregnancy. The pill helps to prevent pregnancy by inhibiting the process of ovulation. Most birth control pills contain potent levels of synthetic hormones that mimic the two sex hormones, estrogen, and progesterone.
These pill trick the body into believing that it is pregnant, thereby foiling the release of the egg from the ovary.

However, pills function more than just preventing the process of conception. According to a new study, a huge proportion of women take birth control pills for reasons other than avoiding unplanned pregnancy. The most common reason why most women take the pill is to ease menstrual-related issues.
The pill affects you’re your menstrual cycle by:

1. Irregular Periods

A woman’s menstrual cycle is mostly influenced by the fluctuations of different hormones in the body. These hormones prompt the lining to thicken in preparation for the possibility of receiving a fertilized egg every month. However, when fertilization fails to occur, the uterine lining is shed in the form of menstrual flow. Now, ingesting the pill introduces synthetic hormones into your system which subdues the pituitary glands to inhibit ovulation or the release of the egg from the ovary. They also stop the uterine lining from growing.

The pill causes changes in hormones which in turn affect the regularity of your period. There is little or nothing to shed if your uterine lining fails to thicken, so you end up bleeding less.
However, when you’re on the control week, no hormones are in the pill, so you end up seeing your period. You may experience irregular bleeding when you are on the pill. This may cause you to bleed between periods, or you may not even see your period.

2. Skipped Periods

Menstruation is often seen as a sign of good health and a reason to celebrate womanhood, but some women consider it a constant source of agony.
Being on your period can be very uncomfortable and upsetting, especially if you are enjoying a weekend at the beach, spending your honeymoon in a beautiful and serene setting, or looking for a new job or on your wedding day.

However, you can delay your period or totally skip it by going on the pill. Presently, a lot of women use the pill to prevent the pains and discomfort that accompanies their cycle.

Some women are now wondering whether it is safe to skip their monthly flow once in a while, even though they have reasons to do so.
Well, reproductive and fertility experts say it is absolutely okay to do so, as long as you are qualified to be on a birth control pill, you are physically and emotionally healthy, do not smoke, and you are not above thirty-five.

There are different ways to overwhelm your cycle with conventional birth control pills.

One is by taking only the active pills with no breaks in between if you are on combination pill pack.
Take the active pills continuously and you will no longer have to worry about the discomfort that comes with menstrual periods.

3. Less Painful Cycle

Most females find it difficult to manage the painful symptoms of menstruation. This is perhaps one of the most common concerns women face in their reproductive years.
It is actually a normal part of the cycle. However, when the pain get too severe, it becomes abnormal because it can affect the quality of your life.

Health / How To Get Rid Of Vaginal Odor: Causes And Effective Home Remedies by jannydear(f): 7:04am On Nov 06, 2017
Vaginal odor is one of the major problems of most women globally. Every woman wants to have a healthy and happy vagina. We don’t just invest in expensive lipsticks and brushes, but we also invest in good feminine hygiene products to feel clean and refreshed.

Let’s discuss some common causes of vaginal odor before thinking about trying out odor treatments.

Causes of Vaginal Odor

Infection– Women who have bacterial vaginosis, also known as vaginal bacteriosis tend to have an unpleasant emanating from their privates. This infection is mostly experienced by women of childbearing age. Having a sexual intercourse with a new partner is one of the reasons of acquiring the infection although it’s not considered a sexually transmitted infection. Yeast infection can lead to discharge, soreness and itching.
Foods you eat– According to research, if you love consuming foods with strong unfamiliar scents such as broccoli, pepper, garlic, onions and cheese, then you’ll surely notice a change in the smell of your vagina. Although some researchers suggest using garlic to treat unwanted vagina odor, instead of eating it, you can try putting fresh garlic inside your vagina for a few minutes. If irritation occurs, then it’s advisable to discontinue.
Sweat –The odour from your V area tends to be smelly if you are sweaty down there. Like your armpits, eyelids and ear canals, your vagina also has apocrine sweat glands which secrete fluid with the presence of bacteria which can cause fishy vaginal odor.
Hormones– During ovulation and when you’re having your period, your hormone changes. During menopausal stage, you may experience a smelly and watery discharge because your estrogen level is low.
Effective Home Remedies To Get Rid of Vaginal Odour
Apple Cider Vinegar

Bacteria presence is one of the reasons why vagina smells, so you need something with antibacterial and antiseptic properties such as apple cider vinegar.

Apple cider vinegar is one of the best choices to eliminate vaginal odor, either by drinking or having a warm bath with it. For menopausal women, it’s natural to have low estrogen levels and less acidity.

ACV contains the much needed acidity and antiseptic quality to combat the bacteria.

What to do:

Mix a glass of water with two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar daily. If you don’t like the strong taste of vinegar, a tablespoon is okay. Or you can mix it with honey.
A warm bath can be comfort your vagina. Try mixing two cups of apple cider vinegar in warm bath water and soak in it for 20 -25 minutes to kill the bacteria.
Yogurt

Yogurt is healthy not only for you but for your vagina too. Yogurt contains lactobacillus bacteria, a good kind of bacteria that help fight candida infection, considered one of the common reasons of having vaginal odor.

What to do:

Eat unsweetened plain yogurt every day. Try probiotic supplements.
If you don’t like the taste of yogurt, you can try soaking a tampon in your yogurt and insert the tampon in your body. Rinse and remove the tampon after two to three hours.
Baking Soda

Aside from being useful in baking cakes and pies, baking soda is also used as a cleaning agent to absorb odors by neutralizing pH levels.

Baking soda neutralizes your vaginal pH level, eliminating yeast infection and foul odour.

What to do:

Add one-half cup of baking soda in your warm bath water and soak in it for fifteen to twenty minutes.
Citrus and Vitamin C

Apart from boosting our immune system, eating citrus fruits such as oranges, pineapples, grapefruits, lemons, cranberries, is also beneficial in flushing out toxins from your body and combating vaginal infections. Bacteria could not survive for so long in body with strong immune system.

What to do:

Eat Oranges, grapefruits, lemons, pineapples, cranberries and lime.
Fenugreek

Fenugreek helps balance your hormones which helps lessen vaginal discharge and its unpleasant odor. Another health benefit is it helps in regulating your irregular menstruation cycle.

What to do:

Make a herbal tea out of fenugreek seeds. Just boil the seeds, strain them and drink the tea with an empty stomach.
Soak fenugreek seeds on the water overnight. Strain the seeds and drink the water early in the morning.
Vaginal Health Tips
Here are additional tips to feel fresh and get rid of foul odor down there;

Avoid sugary and caffeinated drinks

Sugary foods and drinks can encourage overgrowth of candida. Candida is a type of yeast infection that causes irritation, itching and unpleasant vaginal odor. You also have to consume less pasta and other foods that are rich in carbohydrates because they promote yeast growth.

Drink lots of water

Drinking lots of water has many health benefits. It helps flush out the bad bacteria and the toxins present in your body.

Less bacteria means less infection and no more worries about discharge and vaginal odor. Stay hydrated.

Wear cotton panties

You sweat in every physical activity that you engage in. You are aware of your sweaty armpits, wet back and your sweaty groin. Cotton fabric panties and absorb your sweat and allow for air circulation.

Keep your vulva ventilated and avoid moisture as much as possible. Keep your vaginal area clean and dry.

Avoid using scented feminine wash

Romance / 7 Signs Your Partner Is Still In Love With Their Ex-lover by jannydear(f): 6:59am On Nov 04, 2017
Some people jump into a new relationship even without realizing that they are yet to get over their ex-partner, while some actually get into new relationships to get over their exes. Even after being in a new relationship, some persons may still continue to be in love with their past love.
Here are 7 signs that will help you know if your partner is still in love with their ex:

1. Meets their ex without your knowledge

When your partner secretly books appointment with their ex-lover secretly without your knowledge or consent, then it may just point to the fact that they are still yet to get over their past love.

2. Over-secretive behavior

It may be a sign that your partner is still into their ex, when they shy away from talking about their past relationship. However in some cases a person may just want to maintain privacy over their past relationship which may not necessarily point to being over-secretive. It may be time to think twice if your partner appears uncomfortable and avoids the topic whenever you ask about their ex flame.

3. Emotionally Unavailable

When you are not getting the expected emotional support from your partner when needed and they never tend to understand you, it means they are not even into you yet. Your partner may be physically present but emotionally distant.

4. Seeks opinion of ex-lover on important issues

There are people who still seek opinion of their ex-partner’s regarding their personal or professional issues. This means they know each other so well that mutual opinion greatly matters. This obviously may mean they are still in love.

5. More than just friends

Some couples prefer to remain friends even after they split. However, it can be a big nuisance when their ex-partner is a part of every occasion, be it a birthday celebration or a wild party. Sometimes the thin line that separates a lover and a friend gets more indistinct, if a person is yet to get over their ex.

6. Compares you to their ex

When your partner deliberately or unintentionally compares you to their ex-love, and placing their past in a better light than you, then they may still be in love with their ex.

7. Stalks their ex

Your partner may still be in love with their ex if they constantly stalk their ex on social media platforms. They do that because they are still snooping about to know what’s going on in the other person’s life. This isn’t a good sign.

Pets / Should Your Pet Eat Raw Food? by jannydear(f): 5:19pm On Nov 03, 2017
There has been a lot of debate still ongoing on online forums concerning feeding your pet raw food instead of packed dry food. People against pets eating dry food argue that animals in the wild hunt and eat raw food, so, the body of your pet is structured to basically consume raw food to help keep them in best health.

Many studies are beginning to condemn the nutritional value of packaged commercial pet food, claiming that kibble consists little moisture, low protein quality, and 60% carbohydrate.

According to a Swedish study, young animals who were fed a cooked, processed diet appeared to be healthy, but once they attain maturity, they began to age rapidly and developed deteriorating symptoms of disease. The control group that was fed raw food did not age rapidly and showed no symptoms of disease.

Is Raw Food Best for Your Pet?

A canine behaviour counsellor has been feeding her pets only raw food for about 10 years. It all began when a golden retriever she adopted named Caesar, was given not more than three years to live, because he had multiple health issues. While carrying out research to find out what could help Caesar, she came across the concept of raw food; till then, she had fed her pets homemade food and kibble.

Caesar had joint and bone diseases, but a meal of raw food was able to keep the diseases at bay. The doctors said that he would require supplements for life, but she declined from giving him any. Though his condition wasn’t completely cured, but his body was strong; he never limped, his weight was good, as was his blood,” she says. All thanks to a diet of raw food.

Raw food can cause infection

Just like Devisri, there are others who swear by the benefits of feeding their pets raw food diet.

However, two veterinarians heatedly disagree with feeding pets raw food.

Dr Shahid Vaseem says that although raw food can boost pet’s immune system, clinically, it has been found to cause severe infections. “Consuming raw food can cause bacterial infections, such as salmonella. While dry, packed food isn’t too ideal for your pet, it is best to avoid raw food. Pets can be fed with human food to get nutritional benefits, but it shouldn’t include the spices included in human food.

READ ALSO: How to Train Your Dog to Sit

Vaseem says you should boil your meat first before feeding your pet, so as to destroy bacteria.

Dr Anil Kumar, another veterinarian, agrees with Vaseem. According to Kumar, even milk has to be pasteurized. It’s best to boil meat and vegetables before feeding your dog. You can feed your pet chapatti, idly, dosa, ragi malt and the likes of them, so as to derive the nutritional benefits from human food. Feeding your dog excess protein such as chicken and beans is not too good. So, give your pet chicken once a week, and other meat, such as beef, mutton and pork, once a month.

Raw food versus Homemade food

However, Devisri disagrees with this. “Vets abroad who have studied nutrition and recommend raw food for pets. If the argument is about infection, then cooked food can also contain salmonella,” Devisri argued.

“The stomachs of dogs are much more acidic than ours and can handle bacteria. Wild animals don’t have access to fresh meat every day. So, they hunt once and eat same meat over several days. Dogs usually bury bones and eat it later.”

Dogs will eat the food you feed them, be it a chapatti or kibble. However, when you give them raw meat, it gives them something to do. They have to chew, tear and gnaw at the meat and bones, thereby giving them primary usage of their jaws. As a result, they are less energetic and destructive. Gnawing on the bones gives them much-needed jaw work that they would otherwise take out on your furniture should they get bored,” says Devisri.

Call when you say you will.
Call to say you’ll be home late.
Carry your fair share of the workload.
Don’t overreact when things go wrong.
Never say things you can’t take back.
Don’t dig up old wounds.
Respect your partner’s boundaries.
Don’t be overly jealous.
Be a good listener.

Though there are always going to be glitches in a relationship, but both partners can do things to curtail marital crisis to avoid separation or divorce.

Be realistic, don’t think your spouse will meet all your needs and will even be able to figure them out without your asking; that’s absurd. Also be humorous. Endeavor to let things go and enjoy each other’s company.

Finally, you must be willing to work on your relationship and to rightly look at what needs to be done.

Pets / Serial Killer Of Pets Mutilates Cats Across Britain by jannydear(f): 10:06pm On Oct 29, 2017
A serial killer may be mutilating cats and various pets across Britain, Police reports. Pet owners across Britain and the police believe serial killer of cats, who has eluded arrest for two years now may be expanding his/her ambitions.
Scooter slipped out her home on the south coast of England one night in the summer, BBC News reported. The next morning, Scooter’s body was found on a nearby lawn — sliced down the length of her belly and disemboweled.
Also, another pet cat, Rusty was found 150 miles to the north - dumped in a bag on a teenage girl’s doorstep, headless, limbless and earless.
Still another cat, Topsy, mutilated in Northampton on Sept. 7; and Squiggles, found partially skinned with her tail cut off in an Addlestone car park on Tuesday. These are just a few of the victims.

More than 370 animals are believed to have been killed and mutilated by the same sick suspect since the first killing in late 2015 of the carcass found near the alleys of a Croydon neighborhood south of London, BBC reported.
Most of the victims are pet cats, though foxes and the occasional rabbit or puppy are sometimes reported — even a baby owl, once. As Peter Holley wrote for The Washington Post last year, the so-called “Croydon Cat Ripper” has certain symbols to his work: “Decapitated, with their tails and ears cut off, stomachs slashed and organs removed, the tortured remains sometimes drained of blood.”
Police have only confirmed a fraction of the hundreds of mutilated animals to be the work of one human mind.
Andy Collin, a Metropolitan police detective in Croydon, told the BBC; “It’s quite possible other people have got on the craze — copycats, if you like,”
However Collin has no doubt the killer exists and has even worked up a psychological profile. “Cats are targeted because they are associated with the feminine. The killer can’t deal with a woman or women who are troubling him,” Collin alleged.
The detective worried that “at some stage he’ll intensify or feel brave enough to move on to defenseless women and girls.”
The killings have already started to spread from a single London suburb in a widening ring, which by now extends from the coast to miles north, east and west of the capital city.
One night in August, the BBC reported, witnesses near the scene of a cat killing in Caterham chased a man with a headlamp or some sort of torch from the area. This led police — through an animal protection group they’ve partnered with — to release a possible description of the killer, and animal rights groups subsequently offered more than $10,000 as a reward for information leading the killer’s arrest.
“He strikes mainly at night in residential areas, often luring his victims with pet food, crab sticks or raw chicken,” the BBC wrote. “He kills them quickly with some sort of blunt force then waits at least half an hour for their blood to coagulate before mutilating their bodies.
“He then tends to display the bodies close to where he’s hunted them down, sometimes in public spaces such as playgrounds.”
The dead cats were first ignored by police, a Vice reporter wrote last year. They were written off as the work of predators or traffic, until news stories went national and made authorities pay attention.
Now, police meet frequently with leaders of South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty, whose volunteers try to explore each reported killing as a crime scene.
Police call it Operation Takahe.

Tilapia is one of the most commonly consumed seafood globally. Tilapia, a mild-flavored fish, refers to numerous species of freshwater fish that belong to the cichlid family. Many people opt for tilapia because it doesn’t taste very fishy. Tilapia is an easy fish for farming because it grows quickly, thrives in a crowded environment, and consumes a cheap vegetarian diet.

However, scientific studies have highlighted concerns about the fat content of tilapia. Also, several reports also raise fears surrounding the farming practices of tilapia.

Many people claim tilapia may be unsafe to health, hence should be avoided. China is by far the world’s largest producer of tilapia. They produce over 1.6 million metric tons annually and provide the majority of the United States’ tilapia imports.

Dangers of Eating Tilapia
It May Lead to Inflammation

One of the main reasons that fish is considered the healthiest foods on the planet is that fishes like salmon, trout, albacore tuna and sardines contain large amounts of omega-3 fatty acids.

Omega-3 fatty acids are healthy fats that lower inflammation and blood triglycerides. They have also been associated with a reduced risk of heart disease.

Sadly, tilapia contains 240 mg of omega-3 fatty acids per serving, which is ten times less omega-3 than wild salmon. It’s Omega-6 to Omega-3 Ratio may cause inflammation. Tilapia contains more omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3.

Omega-6 fatty acids are generally regarded as less healthy than omega-3s. Some people even believe omega-6 fatty acids can be harmful and increase inflammation if eaten excessively. Experts caution against consuming tilapia if you are trying to lower your risk of inflammatory diseases like heart disease.

Reports of Farming Practices Are Disturbing

Several reports over the past decade have revealed some unpleasant details about tilapia farming practices, especially from farms located in China.

Tilapia are often fed with animal feces

One report from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) revealed that it is common for fish farmed in China to be fed feces from livestock animals. This feeding method is unhealthy since bacteria like Salmonella found in animal waste can contaminate the water, thereby increasing the risk of foodborne diseases.

Tilapia May Be Polluted With Harmful Chemicals

According to several reports, the FDA rejected over 800 shipments of seafood from China from 2007–2012, including 187 shipments of tilapia.

It stated that the fish did not meet safety standards, as they were polluted with potentially harmful chemicals, including “veterinary drug residues and unsafe additives”.

The Safest Way to Consume Tilapia

Considering the hazardous farming practices involving tilapia in China, it is best to avoid tilapia from China and look for tilapia from other parts of the world instead.

When shopping for farmed tilapia, the best sources include fish from the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Ecuador or Peru.

Fishes like salmon, trout and herring may be safer and healthier to consume than tilapia, and they contain much more omega-3 fatty acids per serving than tilapia.

Strengthen communication between you and your teen to help them feel comfortable and secure in opening up to you, advises the Teens Experiencing Abusive Relationships (TEAR) website. Open the door to invite your teen to open their heart to you by listening effectively, showing care and resisting the urge to condemn or judge.

Step 2

Explain the features of a healthy and unhealthy relationships to your teenager so she can begin to comprehend the difference. A healthy relationship involves reciprocal respect between both parties, freedom outside the relationship for other activities, compromising to make decisions, effective communication to resolve conflicts and a predominance of positive times over negative times, advises Auburn University. An unhealthy relationship involves abusive arguments, overt control, isolation, fear tactics and physical abuse.

Step 3

Ask your teenager if anything you’ve just outlined about both healthy and unhealthy relationships appears to apply to her relationship with her boyfriend. Your teenager may feel obliged to confide in you or she may resist. If she confides in you, take her feelings seriously. If she resists, don’t force communication, just continue to be available as a supportive listener until she feels comfortable opening up to you.

Step 4

Encourage your teenager to get a break from her boyfriend to see if she feels happier and safer without him. This space doesn’t necessarily need to have a designation of “breakup,” but it might give your teen the strength and resolution to move in that direction. Space may involve seeing other friends, spending time with family, taking a class or becoming busy with a new hobby or activity.

Step 5

Monitor the temperature between your daughter and her boyfriend with the introduction of space. It’s possible the boyfriend will feel angry with this new space. Ask your daughter how things are working out. If developments are such that the boyfriend is threatening to harm himself or your daughter, pressuring a return to the previous status or possible stalking behavior, call local police and a domestic violence hotline number to get help.

Step 6

Continue to encourage more space between your teen and her boyfriend if the initial change doesn’t result in a treacherous situation. Over time and with your positive support, your teenager will hopefully realize that she has options outside of staying with an abusive boyfriend.

Your daughter is likely to see that she is worth more by building your daughter’s confidence about her strengths and value. Seek counseling for your daughter if you have trouble inculcating this self-confidence.

Health / Symptoms Of Type 1 And Type 2 Diabetes by jannydear(f): 3:24pm On Oct 14, 2017
Diabetes is a chronic condition linked with unusually high levels of sugar (glucose) in the blood. It occurs due to absence or insufficient production of insulin, or an inability of the body to properly use insulin causes.

Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by high blood sugar (glucose) levels that result from deficiency in insulin secretion, or its action, or both. Diabetes is a chronic medical condition, meaning that even though it can be controlled, it lasts a lifetime.
Diabetes mellitus, commonly referred to as diabetes was first identified as a disease associated with “sweet urine,” in the past. Elevated levels of blood glucose (hyperglycemia) lead to spillage of glucose into the urine, causing the urine to be sugary in taste.
Normally, blood glucose levels are controlled by insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas. Insulin lowers the blood glucose level. When the blood glucose elevates after eating food, insulin is released from the pancreas to normalize the glucose level by promoting the uptake of glucose into body cells.

The two types of diabetes are referred to as type 1 and type 2. Former names for these conditions were insulin-dependent and non-insulin-dependent diabetes.

Symptoms of diabetes

Symptoms of type 1 and type 2 diabetes include;

Frequent passing out of urine
Loss of weight
Excessive thirst
Hunger and fatigue
Wounds takes long to heal
Skin problems
yeast infections, and
tingling or numbness in the feet or toes.
Blurred vision
Risk Factors

Some of the risk factors for getting diabetes include;
Leading a sedentary lifestyle
Being overweight or obese
Family history of diabetes
Hypertension (high blood pressure)
Low levels of the “good” cholesterol (HDL)
Elevated levels of triglycerides in blood
Common differences between type 1 and type 2 diabetes

Despite the improbability that often surrounds a diagnosis of diabetes, there are a few common characteristics of each diabetes type.

Type 1 diabetes can be controlled without taking insulin while sometimes it is possible to come off diabetes medication in Type 2 diabetes.
Type 1 Diabetes is associated with higher than normal ketone level while Type 2 is often associated with high blood pressure and/or cholesterol levels at diagnosis.
Type 1 is often diagnosed in childhood while Type 2 is usually diagnosed in adults over 30 years.
Type 1 is not associated with excess body weight while Type 2 is associated with excess body weight
Type 1 can be treated with Insulin injections or pump while Type 2 is usually treated without medications initially

Health / Infertility In Men And Women – Causes And Treatment by jannydear(f): 1:42pm On Oct 14, 2017
Infertility is not being able to get pregnant after one year of having unprotected sex. Women who do not have regular menstrual cycles, or are older than 35 years and have not conceived during at least a one-year period of trying, should consider making an appointment with an infertility specialist.

To conceive;

A woman’s body must release an egg from one of her ovaries during ovulation.
A man’s sperm must join with the egg along the way, a process called fertilization.
The fertilized egg must go through a fallopian tube toward the uterus (womb).
The fertilized egg must get implanted to the inside of the uterus
About 6% of married women aged 15-44 years in the United States are unable to conceive after one year of unprotected sex (infertility).

Also, about 12% of women 15-44 years of age in the United States have difficulty in conceiving or carrying a pregnancy to term, regardless of marital status.

A woman is not always responsible for infertility, both men and women contribute to infertility.

Many couples struggle with sterility and seek help to become pregnant; however, it is often thought of as only a women’s condition. A CDC study analyzed data from the 2002 National Survey of Family Growth and found that 7.5% of all sexually experienced men younger than age 45 reported seeing a fertility doctor during their lifetime – this equals 3.3-4.7 million men. Of men who sought help, 18% were diagnosed with a male-related infertility problem, including sperm or semen problems (14%) and varicocele (6%)

Causes of infertility in men

Infertility in men can be caused by different factors and is normally evaluated by a semen analysis. A specialist will evaluate the number of sperm (concentration), motility (movement), and morphology (shape). A slightly abnormal semen analysis does not mean that a man is infertile. Instead, a semen analysis helps to establish if and how male factors are contributing to infertility.

Conditions that can contribute to abnormal semen analyses include –

Varicoceles, a condition in which the veins on a man’s testicles are large and cause them to scorch. The heat may in turn affect the concentration or morphology of the sperm.
Medical conditions or exposures such as infection, testicular failure, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, trauma, or treatment with chemotherapy or radiation.
Unhealthy habits such as smoking, heavy alcohol use, testosterone supplementation, steroid use, and illicit drug use.
Environmental toxins including exposure to lead and pesticides.
Causes infertility in women

Women need functioning ovaries, fallopian tubes, and a uterus in order to conceive. Conditions affecting any one of these organs can contribute to female infertility.

Ovulation: Regular periods that occur every 24–32 days likely reflect ovulation. Ovulation can be predicted by using an ovulation predictor kit and can be confirmed by a blood test to check the woman’s progesterone level. A woman’s menstrual cycle is, on average, 28 days long. Day 1 is defined as the first day of “full flow.”
A woman with irregular periods is likely not ovulating (anovulation). This may be because of several conditions and needs an evaluation by a doctor. Potential causes of anovulation include the following:
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). PCOS is the most common cause of female infertility. It is a hormone imbalance problem that can interfere with normal ovulation.
Functional hypothalamic amenorrhea (FHA). FHA relates to excessive physical oremotional stress that results in amenorrhea (absent periods).
Diminished ovarian reserve (DOR). This occurs when the ability of the ovary to produce eggs is reduced because of surgical, congenital, medical, or unexplained causes. Ovarian reserves declines with age.
Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI). POI occurs when a woman’s ovaries fail before she is 40 years of age.
Menopause: This is an age-appropriate decline in ovarian function that usually occurs around age 50. It is often associated with hot-flashes and irregular periods.
It is important to note:

Ovarian function. Several tests exist to evaluate a woman’s ovarian function.
No single test is a perfect predictor of fertility.
The commonly used markers of ovarian function include follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) value on day 3–5 of the menstrual cycle, anti-mullerian hormone value (AMH), and antral follicle count (AFC) using a transvaginal ultrasound.
Things that increase a woman’s risk of infertility

Female fertility is known to decline with;

Age: Ageing decreases a woman’s chances of having a baby as well as increases her chances of miscarriage. About 20% of women in the United States now wait until their 30s and 40s have their first child and this leads to age becoming a growing cause of fertility problems. About one-third of couples in which the woman is older than 35 years have fertility issues. Aging decreases a woman’s chances of having a baby in the following ways;
Her ovaries become less able to release eggs.

She has a smaller number of eggs left
She is more likely to have miscarriage
She is more likely to have health conditions that can cause fertility problems
Her eggs are not that healthy
Smoking
Excessive intake of alcohol
Extreme weight gain or loss
Excessive physical or emotional stress that results in amenorrhea (absent periods)
Some medicines used to treat infertility in women

Some common medicines used to treat infertility in women include –

Clomiphene citrate (Clomid®*) is a medicine that causes ovulation by acting on the pituitary gland. It is often used in women who have polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) or other problems with ovulation. This medicine is taken by mouth.
Human menopausal gonadotropin or hMG (Repronex®*; Pergonal®*) are medicines often used for women who don’t ovulate because of problems with their pituitary gland-hMG acts on the ovaries to fuel ovulation. It is an injected medicine.
Follicle-stimulating hormone or FSH (Gonal-F®*; Follistim®*) are medicines that are usually injected, it work much like hMG. It triggers the ovaries to begin the process of ovulation.
Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (Gn-RH) analog are medicines often used for women who don’t ovulate regularly each month. Women who ovulate before the egg is ready can also use these medicines. Gn-RH analogs act on the pituitary gland to change when the body ovulates. These medicines are usually injected or given with a nasal spray.
Metformin (Glucophage®*) is a medicine doctors use for women who have resistance and/or PCOS. This drug helps lower the high levels of male hormones in women with these conditions. This helps the body to ovulate. Sometimes clomiphene citrate or FSH is combined with metformin. This medicine is usually taken orally.
Bromocriptine (Parlodel®*) is a medicine used for women with ovulation challenges because of high levels of prolactin. Prolactin is a hormone that causes production of milk.
*Note: Use of trade names and commercial sources is for identification only and does not imply endorsement by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Many fertility drugs increase a woman’s chance of having twins, triplets, or other multiples. Women who are pregnant with multiple fetuses have more problems during pregnancy.
