A Sharon vehicle caring six passage was today involved in an accident on their way back from Abuja to Keffi. Eyewitness on ground said the. Sharon vehicle was hit from behind by a Jeep that was on high speed resulting to the Sharon vehicle spinning before summersaulting twice.

The resulted summalsault Lead to a lady been flung out from the vehicle through the side screen and luck was on her side, as another summersault would led to the car falling on her, he said.

The lady who was the only one seriously injured was however brought out of the vehicle by witnesses and was being prepared to be taken to the near by clinic before men of the road safty arrived at the scene twenty minutes after the incident after several callings made by the witness.

Although men of the road safety were able to come and take charge of the situation by administering some first aid treatment to the victim before taking her to the clinic. But more as to be done on how fast they respond to issues of his magnitude as it may result to the death of the victims.

Residents of the area Sabon Gari, however, complained that the government have to do something has to help curtail the rate of overspending of vehicles along the area, as this is not the first time such incident is happening as a result of restless driving.

There is every indication that Nasarawa State University, Keffi may conduct Post-UTME screening for candidate who applied for admission into the university.

A formidable source revealed that a tentative date of 23rd June, 2016 is being considered for the exercise, with candidates seeking admission into Faculty of Law taking the first shot.

The source added that the modalities for the exercise is not settled yet, hence the delay in the approval of the date.

Another factor that seems to be delaying the announcement, is the unresolved ASUU crisis.

It is feared that if the lecturers proceed on another industrial action, the exercise will be difficult to conduct.

The outcome of ASUU congress meeting scheduled to take place on Monday 20th June, 2016 to consider embarking on the strike or extending the deadline as pleaded by the Vice Chancellor, will also determine whether the exercise will go ahead or not, another source said.

It is also expected that unspecified amount of money will be charged for screening.

Candidates who applied for admission into the university should therefore be on high alert as the date maybe announced soon.

A total of 5,310 students were matriculated today, at the
14th matriculation ceremony of Nasarawa State University,
Keffi.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Muhammad
Akaro Mainoma who was represented by the Deputy Vice
Chancellor Academics, Dr. (Mrs) Sa'adatu Liman congratulated the new students and urged them to be of good conduct during their stay in the University. She disclosed that 24,606 candidates applied for admission
of which 5,310 scaled through.

Also, the Registrar of the University, Alhaji Dalhatu Mamman who administered the matriculation oath to the new students, directed them to sign the oath and submit to their respective Faculty Officers.

The occasion which took place at the university's
convocation square, had principal officers of the university
as well as all the Deans of Faculties in attendance.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities Nasarawa State University Chapter has officially suspended its three months old strike. The strike which began on the 7th of March 2016 after The Union had demanded payment of backlog of Earned Allowances and the repositioning of the university’s
infrastructure and laws.

This announcement is coming after Governor Tanko Almakura had while on Media Chat at Nasarawa Broadcasting Service Lafia, to commemorate Democracy Day on Sunday, disclosed that government has made available the remaining 20 percent of the Earned Academic Allowance, EAA, it agreed to pay the Union but with a strict instruction that ASUU will get the payment only when it suspends the strike, this necessitated ASUU representatives to hold an emergence meeting today 31 May 2016 where the strike was officially called off and lectures to commence immediately.

From the genesis of President Buhari's administration there have series of heartbreaking and also applaudable events; from the cold genocidal killing of over 700 Shitte muslims by the Nigerian army in Zaria Kaduna state, to the sudden removal of fuel subsidy without adequate palliatives in place, subjecting the common man to severe pains and anguish, down to the sharp drop in crude oil sale, annexed with the fall of the naira against the dollar and a sudden rise in unemployment rate, with epileptic power supply by Nigerian Power Holding Company (PHCN). With the most alarming been the gruesome killing of innocent farmers in the North Central, South West and South East region by Fulani herdsmen, coupled with the bombing of oil facilities by Niger Delta Avengers militant group, bringing Nigeria's oil exploration level to over 50percent low and crippling the economy further. Boko Haram militants are also not relenting in their indiscriminate killings of innocent citizens in the North-Eastern part of the country.

Despite all this human and economic disaster that has plagued our dear country, we have also witnessed a
tremendous transformation in the fight against corruption, as corruption is gradually been referred to as a thing of the past. The heavily dented image of the country by past administrations is gradually wearing a better look.

Today its no longer business as usual for corrupt politician and executives who are only after the looting the country and depriving citizen of their common wealth.

It is no longer news that the United Kingdom, Swiss and the United States of America have returned and are still returning huge amount of money stashed by our corrupt politicians in their countries.

With the President's introduction of the Treasury Single Account, the Federal Government has reportedly saved over #45billion naira. He also stopped the practice of government sponsoring private persons on holy pilgrimage thereby saving the nation some millions of dollars in the process. He further reduced the cost of governance by reducing ministries from 48 to 24.

Just recently two of the abducted Chibok girls were rescued, as the Boko Haram militants are constantly under severe fire by the Nigerian armed forces, as is evident in Operation Crackdown, a component of Operation Zaman Lafiya Dole. The Nigeria armed forces seems to have gained the upper hand in the counter insurgency operations now, carrying out daily clearance operations. Furthermore territories previously under the control of the insurgents have been liberated by the armed forces. Many victims mostly women and children held captive by the group have been rescued, with over 11,000 persons reportedly rescued by the armed forces from May 2015 to date.

One Colonel Hillary of the Nigerian Army probably forgot that military rule ended in Nigeria in 1999; or maybe he imagined himself 007 acting in one of James Bonds blockbusters, where he is licensed to kill.

The Colonel is now wide awake and reality has dawned on him as he is all over the place pleading that he should be forgiven for brazenly battering and infringing on the rights of a final year Law student in Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Annunihu Bethel Chiagoziem.

Bethel's offence was his kind request for the military officer to park his car well, so that his can be accommodated at the packing space in front of Diamond Bank Gwarimpa, Abuja, on May 18, 2 016 in company of his sister-in-law for a transaction.

The Colonel despite that he parked his Toyota Camry diagonally, blocking the remaining three spaces, refused to adjust.

Not in the mood to exchange words with him, Bethel said he decided to "squeeze" his car into the remaining "little parking" space.

"To my surprise, after parking my car at the little space left he said I should remove my car so that he can park his own at the exact same position I just parked.

"This was the same person who turned down my earlier plea to park well so that both cars can be accommodated", Bethel wrote in a Police statement.

Trouble began when Bethel due to the busy road couldn't repark his vehicle. Secondly, he wondered why the soldier, who was not in his uniform, would want to park at the same place he just parked after rebuffing his earlier appeal to the soldier to park his own car well so that both cars and even one more can be accommodated.

This action irked the Colonel as he ordered his details to handcuff the NSUK student.

The NSUK law student refused to be taken away fearing that he was being abducted since the soldier was not in his uniform.

He called the attention of the security officers manning the bank but they turned blind eyes.

While Bethel was in handcuff, the Colonel brought out Pistol from his car and hit him (Bethel) severally as he wreathed in agony.

Bethel was kicked and assaulted by the Colonel and his accomplices, sustaining several bruises and broken bones in the process.

Colonel Hillary capped his action by levelling the deadly Pistol on the forehead of the student threatening to kill him.

It was then that the bank manager, disturbed by the commotion in front of his bank's premises, came to save Bethel from an impending death.

The intervention of the Bank Manager and one Barrister Seun, was timely as the red eye soldier had corked his gun, ready to click the trigger while the gun's nozzle was starring Bethel in the face as bewildered crowd watched anticipating a blast that will silence the handcuffed man.

Bethel must have said his last prayer when his "saving grace" came.

The good Samaritans pleaded with the soldier to uncuff the law student.

By then Bethel had been beaten black and blue as his bruised face and entire body streamed of blood. Sensing that he may have bitten more than he can chew, the Colonel entered his car and zoomed off.

But Bethel had bravely copied the number plate of his vehicle and other necessary identification.

As he rose from where the Colonel left him for dead, he headed to the nearest Police Station in Gwarimpa and lodged his case, after getting himself examined at the hospital.

He has also reported the case to the National Human Rights Commission and the Defence Headquarters.

In a matter of days, Colonel Hillary was summoned from his base in Calabar to face disciplinary action at Defence Headquarters.

He has since been frequenting the family house of his victim begging for forgiveness, a plea the family is yet to accept.

The case is still raging and the family of Bethel seems determined to make the Colonel pay for his actions.

"If you allow him go free, who knows who his next victim will be; he needs to be reminded that being a soldier or anything related to it, is not a license for you to trample on the rights of other Nigerians", said Bethel.
