Whenever politics in Nigeria is discussed so many issues come to fore, with the most prominent been the issue of partisan. I have never been a fan of the PDP neither do I associate myself with the APC (I belong to nobody and to everybody). For sixteen years Nigerians lived under the clutches of the PDP led administration, who looted and sucked us dry to the bone. Despite the kleptomanic nature of the PDP, some significant changes were exhibited and witnessed. But if anything defines our current political predicament, it is that we have a government that, in the middle of an economic and security crisis, does not have a clue of where it is headed or what to do. Before the electioneering process, Nigerians were already fed up and tired of Goodluck Jonathan's administration, who they vehemently saw as a weakling and a push-around president. Ecstatic with joy we were when we heard the "change" mantra. Been humans that we all are, change is one constant thing we all long for. The change mantra came with so many appetising and mouth watering goodies. The perfect depiction of the Nigeria we all longed for, a land flowing with milk and honey. They promised to transform our dear country into a mini-heaven in no distant time. We were promised that on dollar would be equal to a naira in a matter of days. We were promised heaven on earth. We believed them based on past glory, we thought to ourselves "since they once did it in 1983, why not give them a chance in 2015". Just when we thought there was a ray of light and the "messiah" had been sent to us. Suddenly!! it became glaring that we had all been scammed. The "change", was never what it promised to be. Buhari and his APC cronies had promised us a purified ministerial cabinet, devoid of corrupt individuals, as a matter of fact it took the president over three months to select the "perfect" ministerial candidates that would aide in catapulting our beloved country instantaneously into an heaven. Suddenly!! to our bewildered amusement, most of those who contributed to the "destruction of the country during the PDP era" are currently in the APC cubicle and now they are all regarded as saints. Alias! we were scammed. In less than three hundred days in office, President Buhari had visited over 24 different countries. Which according to the president's Senior Special Assistant on media and publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, as at November 2015 the presidency had engulfed over N2.3b for his international trips alone within six months. Shehu further ascertained that the number of aircraft on the Presidential fleet was ten. Here is a country with zero budget. Yet again we were scammed. In bid to win the hearts of wailing Nigerian youths, the APC during her campaign days had promised to pay the Nigeria youth 5,000 naira each as monthly stipend. Only for Buhari to dissociate himself from the promise and pointing it as a mere campaign promise from his vice, Osibanjo. Again we were scammed. One might be wondered to ask, why the sudden silence? Why the sudden chills, why are Nigerians so patient and enduring during President Buhari's administration unlike former President Goodluck Jonathan's administration? So quickly we have forgotten how we protested when fuel price pump was increased and subside removed, yet nobody is complaining when Buhari's government does same. Innocent citizens were murdered in cold blood by the Nigerian army, who had sworn to protect lives of her citizens, yet no body seems to be complaining. Even the blind knows if it were during President Goodluck Jonathan's administration issues like this might have brought about religious tension. Just the way El-Rufa'i had lamented and called it genocide when two of Shiek Zakzaky's son were murdered during president Jonathan's administration. The same El-Rufa'i kept mute when over 270 Shii muslims in Kaduna state were murdered in cold blood, in his capacity as the state governor. You need no pastor or imam to tell you a lot of religious sentiments would had been put to play if it were during Jonathan's administration. Many religious fanatics would had even personally blamed Jonathan for the killings. Why is everybody suddenly quite at the full glare of genocide? And the renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana is not screaming to the ICC to investigate this crime against humanity. We were again scammed. It is therefore pertinent to ask "can the Chibok girls ever return home"? President Buhari who had in September 2015 vowed to ensure the safe return of the kidnapped Chibok girls to their families, is yet to keep to his words. In a similar circumstance President Buhari had declared on 24th of December 2015 that the Nigeria military had "technically" defeated Boko Haram. President Buhari had told the BBC that the Boko Haram could no longer mount "conventional attacks" against security forces or population centres. And that Boko Haram had been reduced to fighting with improvised explosives devices (IED) and remained a force only in its heartland of Borno state. Suddenly!!! there was twin suicide bomb blast on the 28 of December 2015 in the town of Madagali in Adamawa state with over 50 reportedly dead. This is coming few days after the President had declared that the war against Boko Haram militants had been "technically won". If Boko Haram has been "technically" defeated why are the young girls yet to be recovered? To make matters worse, economic analysts are predicting a 7 years low in oil prices. 7 years ! The schmitta began in September 23, 2015. Which means that in the next seven years Nigerian will go through severe famine all because our government has chosen to abandon our farmlands in order to chase crude oil. Because we are too lazy to produce what we use in Nigeria, we import almost everything, including toothpicks. Jonathan the "ineffectual buffoon" has evidently gone with his goodluck. A pregnant woman, Kafayat Somoye, and her five-year-old daughter, were on Thursday killed when a ramshackle building at Onifufu/Aderupaba compound in Oke-Ijeun area of Abeokuta, caved in on them. A witness said the mother was taking her child, Ganiyat, and her brother, Ganiyu, to school, when a cracked wall of the building located near their home suddenly collapsed and fell on the duo. The wall of the over 70-year-old building killed the two before any help could reach them, witnesses said. Neighbours said the mother was a petty trader, while the child attended Methodist Primary School, Ago-Oko, Abeokuta. Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike told newsmen in Port Harcourt on Sunday that the Personal Assistant to his Chief of Staff, was killed by security operatives. Wike said a group of men escorted by security operatives, had gone to Ikwerre Local Government Area to hijack election materials and one of the people who went after the men was the personal assistant to his aide. The governor stated that the man was shot while trying to ensure that the stolen election materials were retrieved. Mr. Emeka Woke is the Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt. Though unconfirmed report has it that Woke has been arrested by the DSS, an insider in the security outfit told our correspondent that he was not aware of the arrest of any state government official. Earlier, there was confusion at the Mile One Police Station in Port Harcourt on Sunday when the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike; the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi; the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime and Safety Agency, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, suddenly appeared at the station. It was gathered that an ad hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission, suddenly disappeared with a result sheet and other election materials on Saturday. The woman, according to sources unexpectedly appeared at the Mile One Police Station, a situation that raise suspicion among supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress. The huge crowd of party supporters and soldiers that later came made the atmosphere within the place to be charged as the state governor went inside to inquire what went wrong. It was learnt that the INEC ad hoc officer, Mrs. Ekwi Adebisa, was said to have claimed that she was kidnapped on Saturday. The crowd at the station had thought that Adebisa, who was a collation officer during the state and National Assembly election was planning to rig election. The crowd, however dispersed when Wike, Amaechi, Peterside and other top politicians in the state left the Mile One police Station. www.divineloveudorji..co.ke/2016/03/my-aides-personal-assistant-was-killed.html?m=1 |
Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, yesterday, said their members had been pushed to the wall by the policies and actions of Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, and warned, “Enough is enough”. The two bodies also directed Kaduna State government workers to converge on the state secretariat of the NLC for a “super congress” where they said a decision would be taken on a matter that borders on the interference of the state government on union matters. The two unions were reacting on the Verification Form given to workers with a clause on whether they wanted to belong to unions or not. The President of NLC, Comrade Ayuba Waaba, and his TUC counterpart, Comrade Shehu Ayuba, addressed a joint press conference, yesterday in Kaduna on the issue. “The workers verification exercise carried out by Kaduna State government was an aberration. This is the first time such an exercise would be carried out without a representative of workers. We have also heard of many things he has been doing here that are not in the interest of workers. But, we cannot understand why he now wants to interfere in the affairs of labour unions. “He tried breaking the ranks of workers when he was the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, but we resisted him and he failed. One would have thought that he would have learnt his lessons. Yet, this is a man I respect as an intellectual. “For the governor to produce a form and ask workers to indicate if they want to belong to the NLC, is a clear interference on union matters,” Wabba said. www.divineloveudorji..co.ke/2016/03/enough-is-enough-nlc-tells-gov-el-rufai.html?m=1

Nigeria has been ranked the 103 happiest nation of the world, and 6th in Africa in the World Happiness Report. The World Happiness Report 2016 update, which ranks 157 countries by their happiness levels, was released in Rome on Wednesday, in advance of UN World Happiness Day, March 20th. As indicated by the report, Nigeria dropped from its 78th position in the World and 2nd in Africa in the 2015 happiness ranking. Denmark emerged the world’s happiest place, while Algeria, standing at 38 at the global level, maintains its position as the happiest place in Africa. Mauritius is now the second happiest country in Africa, followed by Libya, Morocco and Tunisia respectively. According to the report, eight sub-Saharan countries were among the 10 least happy places on earth to live. The bottom 10 were; Madagascar, Tanzania, Liberia, Guinea, Rwanda, Benin, Afghanistan, Togo, Syria and Burundi, South Africa and Ghana stood at 116 and 124 respectively on the Global happiness ranking. The World Happiness Report, an initiative of the UN, is a landmark survey of the state of global happiness, aimed at influencing government policy. The report reviews the state of happiness in the world and shows how the new science of happiness explains personal and national variations in happiness. It reflects a new worldwide demand for more attention to happiness as criteria for government policy. According to the report, leading experts across fields – economics, psychology, survey analysis, national statistics, health, public policy and more – describe how measurements of well-being can be used effectively to assess the progress of nations. Healthy years of life expectancy, GDP per capital, social support , perceived absence of corruption in government and business, freedom to make life decisions and generosity are some of the factors the report considers. The first world happiness report was published in support of the April 2, 2012 United Nations (UN) high level meeting on happiness and well-being. The report was prepared by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and the Earth Institute at Columbia University. Prof. Jeffrey Sachs is the head of the SDSN and special advisor to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. www.divineloveudorji..co.ke/2016/03/nigerians-no-longer-happy-drop-in.html?m=1 |
An eight-year-old pupil of Prospect Primary School, Akute, Ogun State, Oyindamola Onimole, has been detained by the Ajuwon Police Division. Oyindamola, who was held by the police between 6pm on Wednesday and 12pm on Thursday, was arrested by a policeman from the station for reporting a teacher in the school, identified simply as Mrs. Oni, to his mother. PUNCH Metro learnt that Oni, who is the wife of one of the policemen at the station, had maltreated Oyindamola at school and the pupil reported her to his mother, Mrs. Nimota Onimole, who subsequently stormed the school and complained about the assault. After the mother left, the teacher was said to have descended on the child again for daring to report her to his mother. A source in the school said, “After school hours, the teacher called her husband and he stormed the house of the pupil and arrested the minor. “When Mrs. Onimole (Nimota) returned from work about 10pm, neighbours told her about the ordeal of her son. She left for the police station to ascertain what had happened. The mother, who went to the police station to bail her child, was also detained.” Oyindamola’s father, Olalekan Omole, confirmed on Thursday that his wife and son were detained by the police. He said, “At about 6.30pm, the teacher and her policeman husband, went to our house and forcibly took my son. They used okada (motorcycle) to pick my son. “When my wife returned about 10pm and got to the station around 10.30pm, requesting to get her child released, she was equally detained at the station. All this happened because of the influence of the teacher, whose husband happened to be a policeman at the station. “My two remaining children slept alone at home that night. I had to consult a lot of people to wade in and get justice for my family. “But today (Thursday), at about 12pm, my son and my wife were released by the police.” Olalekan, who expressed outrage at the detention of the minor, said he would contact his lawyer to take the matter up. Oyindamola’s father added that he had informed the school proprietor about Mrs. Oni’s alleged misconduct. www.divineloveudorji..co.ke/2016/03/policeman-in-ogun-state-arrests-8-year.html?m=1 |
Ex-beauty queen, Ibinabo Fiberesima, has urged the Supreme Court to set aside the judgment of the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal, which last Friday affirmed the five years’ imprisonment imposed on her by a Lagos State High Court. The actress is also seeking to be released on bail pending when the Supreme Court would hear and determine her appeal against the appellate court’s judgment. In a six-paragraph affidavit of urgency filed in support of her bail application, one Victor Eden said Fibresima had just undergone surgery to remove breast cancer. Eden said the surgical wound had yet to heal, adding that the actress was afraid that her life might been endangered if kept in prison custody. Eden said, “Her (Fiberesima) wound has not fully healed and, as such, she is afraid that her continued stay in the prison may endanger her life as she will not have access to a proper medical attention. “It will be in the interest of justice and for her health and safety for the appellant to be admitted to bail pending the hearing and determination of the appellant’s appeal before the Supreme Court.” But the bail application suffered a setback on Thursday as the Court of Appeal decided it was ‘incompetent’. Fiberesima’s lawyer, Nnaemeka Amaechina, had told the appellate court panel comprising Justices U.I. Ndukwe-Anyanwu, Samuel Oseji and Tijani Abubakar that he had served the bail application on the Lagos State Government, which is the respondent in the appeal. But Justice Ndukwe-Anyanwu, who led the panel, observed that copies of the court judgments leading to Fiberesima’s conviction and sentence were not attached to the bail application. The judge said failure to attach the judgments had rendered the application incompetent, adding that the options left to the court in the circumstance were to either strike out the bail application or adjourn for the appellant to do the needful. Amaechina opted for an adjournment to enable him to “do the needful”. The panel consequently adjourned till April 7 to hear the application. Justice Deborah Oluwayemi of the state high court had in 2009 convicted Fiberesima of manslaughter, holding that her reckless driving was responsible for an auto crash which claimed the life of one Dr. Giwa Suraj on the Lekki-Epe Expressway. While sentencing Fiberesima to five years imprisonment, Justice Oluwayemi overruled the decision of a Lagos State Magistrates’ Court which earlier ordered her to pay N100,000 for the offence. Last Friday, the Court of Appeal upheld the Justice Oluwayemi’s judgment. But Fiberesima, through her lawyer, Nnaemeka Amaechina, has approached the Supreme Court to challenge the appellate court judgment. Amaechina, in the grounds of the appeal, described the appellate court’s judgment as unreasonable and one that found no support in law in view of the evidence presented before it. He contended that the Appellate Court erred in law when it affirmed the judgment of the high court that set aside the N100,000 fine imposed on Fiberesima and sentenced her to five years imprisonment. The lawyer also contended that the Court of Appeal erred in law when it affirmed the inference by the high court that the magistrate’s court misused its discretion by giving Fiberesima N100,000 fine option for the manslaughter offence. www.divineloveudorji..co.ke/2016/03/ibinabo-fiberesima-seeks-bail-on-health.html?m=1

A drunk policeman, Stephen James, on Saturday shot dead three male customers at a hotel in the Ketu area of Lagos State. SUNDAY PUNCH learnt that among the deceased were twin brothers identified as Taiwo and Kehinde Oyesunle and their friend known simply as Jeje. The twins were the only children of their mother. The tragic incident; which happened outside the premises of Paulson Hotel on Anibaba Street around 4:20pm, threw the entire neighbourhood and its environs into chaos with passers-by and residents scampering in different directions. According to eyewitnesses, trouble started when the police sergeant with Force number 217884, threatened to shoot customers if they failed to buy him an alcoholic drink. The policeman, who was said to be a habitual smoker of marijuana, however, felt offended after the victims – Taiwo, Kehinde and Jeje – cautioned him to comport himself as an adult and a responsible policeman. The eyewitnesses said the policeman ambushed and killed the three young men, who were in their early 30s, as they stepped outside the hotel premises where they had gone to celebrate Jeje’s birthday. When the gravity of his act dawned on him, the policeman reportedly shot himself in the chest. A guest at the hotel, who witnessed the killings, told SUNDAY PUNCH that the policeman had boasted about wanting to kill people hours before the incident happened. The customer, who identified himself only as Femi, said all efforts to pacify the policeman proved abortive as he kept fomenting trouble and harassing visitors with his gun all afternoon. “I was in the bar when the policeman first came in and threatened to shoot customers if they failed to buy him drinks. He boasted that he felt like killing someone today, but other customers. and I pleaded with him. “When the three guys walked in and sat, he went to them and threatened them too. But the guys told him to calm down that they would take care of him but he should comport himself as a responsible police officer. “Nobody knew he took offence with their statement. The police officer shot the three guys one after the other as they stepped outside the hotel before killing himself. The whole thing happened like a movie,” he said. Another resident Ladipo Idowu told our correspondents that the policeman was known to foment trouble in the area. He said James usually fired his gun indiscriminately and the residents had warned the hotel authorities to caution him but nothing was done about it. Another eyewitness, Dada Salawu, said, he was passing by when he saw the policeman and the three friends exchanging words. He said hardly had he left the area when the policeman opened fire on the victims. A former girlfriend to one of the slain twins told SUNDAY PUNCH that they were the only children of their parents. The lady, who was inconsolable as she spoke to one of our correspondents, said the twins were still mourning the death of their father who passed away in June 2014 when their lives were cut short. Refusing to have her picture taken, she said, “I called them very early on Saturday morning not to go outside their compound after I dreamt of seeing blood. I called them again at about 2:00pm to warn them. The twins, however, decided to drive a vehicle a relation had just bought at about 3:00pm. They drove to Paulson Hotel.” The Sports Utility Vehicle which the victims drove was still parked in front of the hotel by the time our correspondents left the scene. An angry mob, which later gathered at the scene of the tragedy, attempted to burn down the hotel and destroy properties within its premises. As irate youths threw bottles and stones at the hotel, lodgers ran out of their rooms with their luggage and fled the scene. As at the time of filing this report, the hotel had been completely deserted by staff and guests. The youths also wanted to burn the corpse of the policeman, but policemen, who later got to the scene pleaded with them. Policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer of the Ketu Police Station arrived at the scene at about 5.30 pm to carry the corpses away. The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Joe Offor, confirmed the killings to our correspondents on the telephone. However, he said he had not yet received the full details of the incident. DSP Joe Offor said, “The policeman was on duty at that hotel. He was attached to Mopol 22, Ikeja. He was drunk while on duty and he acted under the influence of alcohol.” Efforts to speak with the management of the hotel on the incident proved abortive as it was deserted as of 6.30pm when one of our correspondents left the scene. When one of our correspondents visited the home of the twins at No. 3, Dairo Street, Ketu, a sea of sympathisers were gathered, while friends of the victims vowed to revenge the killing. The entire neighbourhood was in tension with nearby hotels, drinking joints and shops closing for business earlier than usual. www.divineloveudorji..co.ke/2016/03/tragic-lagos-policeman-kills-twin.html?m=1

“The new nation called Nigeria should be an estate of our great grandfather Uthman Dan Fodio. We must ruthlessly prevent a change of power. We use the minorities in the North as willing tools and the South as a conquered territory and never allow them to rule over us and never allow them to have control over their future”- Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Saurdana of the Sokoto Caliphate and Premier of Northern Nigeria, Parrot Newspaper, 12th October, 1960, recalled by Tribune, 13th November, 2002. These are interesting words from the most reverred, prominent and powerful Fulani leader in the history of modern Nigeria. The Saurdana's world-view, vision and intentions are well-encapsulated here and they are self-evident. They need no further explanation or analysis. To add to the Saurdana's contribution and to butress his point, in August 2001 President Muhammadu Buhari, a proud and ascetic Fulani man whose mass appeal, popularity and following has reached cult-like proportions amongst the working class Fulani population in Nigeria said the following: "God-willing, we will not stop the agitation for the total implementation of sharia throughout the federation". Finally to emphasise the point, on January 27th 2013, Mujahedeen Ibrahim Shekau, the young and brash leader of the most dreaded, most powerful and most deadly islamist terrorist organisation on the African continent called Boko Haram said "By Allah, we will not stop fighting until every Nigerian is living by sharia law. If you don't abide we will kill you". When one hears and reads some of these things one can only look up to heaven and say ''may the Lord deliver the people of Nigeria''. Here you have a classic case of anything and everything, including religion, being used to effect an ancient ethnic agenda of conquest and subjugation. It is not even subtle: it is brazen and real. Worse still most Nigerians are fully aware of it but they find it difficult to voice it let alone resist it. Yet despite our awe and trepiidation at least a few questions must be asked such as the following. Who exactly are the Fulani? Where did they come from? What is their story and what is their history? What is their purpose and what are their intentions for the rest of Nigeria? I shall attempt to answer some of these questions in this two-part essay. Futa Jalon is an area made up of beautiful plateaus and breathtaking mountains which is situated in modern-day Guinea. It is a confluence that is known as the "bitter waters" and it is the location of the Vulture mountain where, up until today, thousands of vultures gather. It is also the source of no less than five major African rivers including our very own River Niger. The people that live in that area are known as the Fula Jalons and it is from that ethnic stock that the Fulanis evolved. From there they migrated to other parts of West Africa and settled down in what was originally known as Sakkwato but what is now referred to as Sokoto in northern Nigeria. The Fulanis were actually the product of a beautiful racial mix and generations of cross-breeding between the Arab-like and nomadic north African Berbers and Tauregs on the one hand and the local black indigenous Fula population of Futa Jalon on the other. That explains their unusually light complexion, their well-chiseled and refined visage, their height, their unusually slight frame, the soft texture of their hair and their essentially non-negroid features. If the truth be told, generally-speaking, they are a physically attractive people. In terms of temperament they are proud, patient, calculating, subtle, courageous and they have very long memories. They are capable of masking their thoughts and emotions very well but they will never forget a sleight. Most importantly, unlike most, they are capable of recognising a common group cause and consequently they are in a better position to further the political and economic interests of their people more than any others. To the Fulani what is most important is what is the interest of his people and their collective cause than anything else. It is interesting to note that the Tutsis of Central and East Africa come from the same racial root as them and they share similar physical features and characteristics. They are also both essentially nomadic in nature and traditionally they both have an intense fascination and interest in cattle and cattle-rearing. As a matter of fact the old-fashioned way of establishing a Fulani mans wealth is to find out how many cows he owns. The more cows he owns the richer he is considered to be. It was after their mass migration to our shores and after they successfully infiltrated the Hausa kingdom of Gobir that Sheik Usman Dan Fodio, the father of the Fulani Caliphate, unleashed his violent and very bloody jihad, established the various emirates and conquered much of what is now known as northern Nigeria in the name of his Islamic faith. That is the history. Permit me to enrich this contribution with the following words which I keep hearing in my spirt and which I believe shall prove to be prophetic. "O ye sons of Futa Jalon and ye daughters of the Vulture mountain and bitter waters: your princes and kings shall be exposed and brought to heel, your yoke shall be broken and you shall pay a heavy price for your wickedness and many sorceries". Many have been killed in the most hideous manner or falsely implicated and wrongly jailed in our country for sharing such knowledge and for exposing what I am about to expose in this write-up but I have no fear because I know that my Redeemer liveth. I know that He shall stand with me even in my day of trouble. As long as Jesus lives I know that He will never forsake me and that, until my work on earth is done, I cannot be cut short and neither can my enemies overwhelm or destroy me. Please fasten your seat-belts and consider the following. On March 3rd 2016 there was a violent clash between Yoruba and Hausa-Fulani youths in Orile, Lagos state. A number of people on both sides of the divide together with some of our security agents were killed. Homes, chattels, property and places of worship were burnt down as the fighting raged. This came just one day after a similar clash between the same two ethnic groups took place in Ikorodu, Lagos state which also resulted in the loss of life and destruction of property. Again on 5th March in Ogere on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway yet another clash took place between Yoruba and Hausa-Fulani youths which resulted in even more casualties and a terrible bloodbath. A number of days before then over 300 Idomas were killed by well-armed Fulani herdsmen in Agatu, Benue state. At a so-called peace meeting, when asked why they did it, they told the Inspector General of Police that it was because some of their cows had been killed! After the meeting instead of being arrested for genocide and ethnic cleansing there and then they were allowed to go home quietly. Not even their AK 47's were confiscated from them. To make matters worse it was later suggested that those that perpetuated the atrocity were not even Fulanis at all but rather aliens from Chad and Niger Republic. The question must be asked: who is fooling who? Sadly there are many other examples of mass murder, genocide, official impunity and similar atrocities. Over the years the same thing has happened in Jos, southern Kaduna, Zaria, Zangon Kataf, Kano, Bauchi and many other places. Throughout the country Fulani militias and herdsmen are wreaking havoc and are slaughtering their compatriots for one reason or the other. Worse of all is the fact that our Fulani-led Federal Government and Fulani-led Armed Forces are killing thousands of young igbos in the east simply because of their support for Nnamdi Kanu and their call for the establishment of the independent sovereigh state of Biafra. Again a few weeks ago the same Armed Forces killed over 1000 shia muslims and shot and abducted their leader, Sheik El Zakzaky, who has not been seen in public since. As all this is going on our economy has ground to a halt, our people are suffering untold hardship and difficult times and the war against Boko Haram and islamist terror is still raging. Today Nigeria has the dubious distinction of having within its borders the first and the fourth "most deadly terrorist organisations" in the world according to the Global Terror Index. According to the Index the first is Boko Haram and the fourth are the AK 47- wielding Fulani militias herdsmen. People are being slaughtered, abducted, pillaged, kidnapped and raped all over the country on a daily basis by these heartless terrorists simply because they believe that one of their own is now in power and that they can get away with it. All this yet no-one appears to be prepared to do anything about it or to call a spade a spade. In the light of all these facts the question on everyone's lips is what is to be done? We all hope and pray for peace and unity in our country but judging by the way things are going perhaps the first question that we have to address is whether we really have a country at all and, if we agree that we do, whether it will or can remain united and as one for much longer. If we ever needed the elders and great men of wisdom and knowledge like President Olusegun Obasanjo, General T.Y. Danjuma, General Yakubu Gowon Alhaji Maitama Sule, Chief Emeka Anyaoku and Chief Alex Ekweume to pull us back from the brink and bring healing, peace and unity back to our land it is now. The rise of radical islam and the use of terror to achieve the objectives of those who espouse and believe in it has changed the world forever. Our country cannot be exempted or left out of this. We have changed forever as well and things can never be the same in Nigeria again. Those that are in power in our country today appear to have a soft-spot for the terrorists and for reasons best known to himself our President has simply refused to condemn the murderous activities of the Fulani herdsmen and militias. This is probably because he is, and has been for many years, the Life Patron of the Fulani Cattle Rearers Association: which is the umbrella organisation of the Fulani herdsmen and militias. To make matters worse our President told the world, as recently as 2014, that "an attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the north". One wonders what purpose that was designed to serve and why he had to say it. Then came the sad and pitiful case of Ese Oruru in which the Fulani Emir of Kano played an unspecified and unclear role in the abduction, forced islamisation, rape, torture and kidnapping of a 14 year old southern christian girl whilst our security agencies turned a blind eye to the whole thing and refused to rescue her for months. It has been alleged that the girl was kept against her will at the Emir's palace and that one way or the other she was used as a sex slave and she came out pregnant. Despite all this the police have refused to pick him up and compel him to answer the necessary questions that could have cleared the air. All this because "his" people are in power and they believe that thay can get away with anything and everything, including pedophilia, slavery and, in many cases, murder. Worse still there are hundreds of other cases, five of which have been exposed by Miss Toyosie Ogunseye, the editor of Nigeria's Sunday Punch Newspaper and her incredible team of investigative reporters and one by the famous high society blogger Miss Linda Ikeji on her blog in the last few days. These cases are all similar to Ese Oruru's and they involve the abduction, islamisation, rape, sodomy and enslavement of young southern christian girls (some as young as 9) who ended up in royal palaces and hareems all over the north. In each of these cases those that carried out the abductions have refused ro return the girls back to their families despite all pleas and efforts and the police have been unable to do anything about it. In one case in Bauchi in which the southern christian girl was just 12 years old and in which she was abducted whilst on her way to church, her family was told that if they wanted her back they would have to "negotiate with the Sharia Council"! In another case in Zamfara state the family of a 14 year old christian girl who was abducted as far back as 2009 were told by her abductors that if they persisted in asking for the return of their daughter their entire family would be killed and their home would be burnt down. As a result of this threat the girl's father and his entire family had to leave their home and flee from Zamfara for their lives. They were compelled to leave their young daughter behind in the clutches of her merciless abductors. Nothing reflects the degeneration to which our country and our values have been reduced to better than this. A Nigerian man killed his friend in India after an argument on who is the better footballer -Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. According to a report in the Times of India, the incident occurred on Sunday morning at Mahesh building, Ostwal Nagri, Nalasopara. Michael Chukwuma Nwabu (22) was part of the 34th birthday celebrations of Obinna Durumchukwu (victim) on Saturday night. The party went on till 9 am in the morning. Both of them proceeded to play football in the common balcony on the building's third floor. The two were drunk and some time between 9.30 and 10am, an argument broke out about who was the best footballer. Obinna supported Argentina and Barcelona striker Lionel Messi, while Nwabu argued that Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid and Portugal star) was better. Verbal abuses began to fly thick and fast, and Nwabu hit Obinna, who threw a glass tumbler at him in retaliation. The tumbler missed Nwabu’s head and smashed on the wall instead. Incensed, Nwabu picked up a broken glass shard and rammed it into Obinna's throat, reports TOI. On hearing the commotion, the flat owner woke up and saw Obinna lying in a pool of blood. He called the police and the hospital, but it was too late. Nwabu, who ran to the fourth floor of the building, was then arrested by the Tulinj police, while the body was sent for postmortem. www.divineloveudorji..co.ke/2016/03/nigerian-christiano-ronaldo-fan-murders.html?m=1

Popular actress, Ruth Kadiri’s Instagram page went ablaze this week when she posted this picture of herself with a friend. While a few people did not see anything wrong with the picture, others felt that it was her way of coming out of the closet. Many who commented on her page tagged the young damsel as a lesbian who is looking for cheap publicity. Unlike many of her colleagues who would ordinarily lash out at insulting fans, the actress chose to keep mum till Saturday Beats reached her via the telephone to hear from the horse’s mouth if she is truly a lesbian. When asked, the actress laughed and said: “I am not a lesbian, it was just a harmless picture I took with my friends while we were about to set out to a private beach to have some fun. I think the picture was taken during the Valentine season or one of those festive seasons. The ironic thing is that our boyfriends were there when we took the picture. I am not a lesbian and I can never be one.” It would be recalled that in 2014, the delectable actress had once revealed that a lesbian lecturer had made passes at her while she was in the university but she was able to wriggle her way out of the situation by becoming friends with the lecturer’s daughter. www.divineloveudorji..co.ke/2016/03/ruth-kadiri-screams-i-am-not-lesbian.html?m=1

An aggrieved housewife, Awele Nwani, 35, has allegedly bathed her husband, Frank Nwani, with hot water, claiming that her hubby denied her sex for three weeks. The incident happened in Ibusa, Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State. The mother of six children, now on the run, also alleged that her husband had been having sexual affairs outside and threatened to make life unbearable for him. But the victim (husband) dismissed her wife’s claim as untrue, saying his wife had been sleeping around. He said, “My wife has been sleeping around, hence I stopped sleeping with her for three weeks. It is a taboo in my tribe and she violates the laws.” Frank stressed that his attempts to stop her illicit affairs outside proved abortive when he took the decision to starve her of sex. Trouble started last Thursday when the victim returned from a visit to a friend’s house during nightfall and in his usual jokes, called his wife a lazy woman, leaving her in wide anger as she fired back to call the husband a wizard. Sources said while their quarrel lasted, the woman disguised to have put the quarrel behind her, dashed to the kitchen where she allegedly boiled water and unknown to the husband who was relaxing in the parlour, bathed him with the water and disappeared. Police officers at the Ibusa Police Division, who did not want their names in the print, confirmed that the woman disappeared with the sum of N200,000 being daily contributions the husband received and kept in her custody. The police said they were on the trail of the suspect while the victim is said to be receiving treatment in a private hospital. www.divineloveudorji..co.ke/2016/03/graphic-photo-housewife-bathes-husband.html?m=1
