This lady like most ladies is beautiful if that is her natural skin color. But I think Africans have lost their sense of beauty. No matter how ugly a lady looks, once she is light in complexion, Nigerians go gaga over her. Whereas there are much more beautiful dark women we are missing on. That is why you cannot find most of them with natural hair anymore. Damn, can anyone remember beautiful and different hair styles of the past emulated among Diaspora Africans. |
Glad that this lady is out of prison again. Do not know for how long. She must act as advocate for those she left behind that had no opportunity for trial, rounded up at bus stops when police were hungry and those too poor to pay their bail. Many of them have spent more time in prison than their crimes if convicted. There is something called cruel and usual punishment and those not proportional to the crimes. So who in his right sense thinks Kemi punishment justify her free speech rights on social media even if we disagree with her? |
Impressive, especially the role of women bringing us together regardless of men prejudice and cultural norms. Women can still save us from ourselves. |
This guy deserves praise alright but those with high school physics may not be so impressed. One can also use a blowing fan in the desert high enough to catch enough air. My only problem is everyone with little projects asking government for money. Even if we do not have looters, there is not enough money for every little project. My humble advice is to start with villagers that can benefit from these projects. If it actually works, your neighbors would contribute money to get a piece of the action. From there, you can improve and if you do not have what it takes, once you start making money from neighbors, small tiny investor would join. This is how little projects turn big. Those doubting the project are not mischievous, they just have better knowledge of physics. |
How did this make front page? Seun is not a superman, he cannot monitor every topic otherwise there will be no need for monitors. But since his attention has been drawn, he should yank this from front page. |
Women have less baggage than men. They care more as women about well being and responsibilities which men care less about. We all know they are more discrete, so they keep their young lovers secret while men brag about theirs. |

Whoever started this topic got more than he bargained for. What Yoruba parents were too shy to discuss and even apologized for have now been provoked by children looking for the spoil of war from Yoruba children. Please note that this generation has been pushed to the limit. They have no choice but to fight back. Nevertheless, there are Yoruba and Igbo embarrassed by these dirty but necessary and provoked history. Why would anyone dare Yoruba known throughout world history? |
I am sick and tired of seeing every topic in and out of Marshland for or against Yoruba. You either love or hate them to death. Then the only comparison or measure others make is with Yoruba. What is this obssession with Yoruba everywhere? |
Don't pay too much attention or waste time or sleepless night on pseudo historians trying to revise cultural, genetic and archeological evidence. They will not stop until they divide themselves into clans, families and TRIBES as the Europeans label them. Imagine people not enough in population or less in population calling Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba tribes. Now you know their reasons and may be justified. It is the same with mushroom states and local governments. The case of Bini trying to colonize nations with propaganda including their cousins is paying off because those ones are learning from them and paying them back. oyatz: |
All these hatred for the West voting with the North once in the history of Nigeria while the East has done the same thing throughout the history of Nigeria since 1960. Haba! S. L. Akintola was right, Awo should have listen to him. |
I see a common trend here. Igbo guys are boiling mad that Yoruba men are taking their babes. But any Igbo man that can get a Yoruba woman to marry will be made a chief in his village. No complaints from Yoruba men. I see double std. |

We used to enjoy one another, our festivals even Oduduwa and Ekhaleran (in the city he founded) festivals right there in Edo State. Today division, insults and inferiority complex have overtaken our youths. We used to teach what Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo have in common. Today you cannot say what Bini and Yoruba have in common without being insulted. Imagine Oba of Benin went as far as Sokoto for solidarity without stopping at Ife for fear of the youths invented animosity. |
You all know the op is just trying to ferment trouble, divide and conquer who? These chedren no go stop. |
Ethnic Economic Sabotage Brewing Innocent Chukwuma, the Owner of Innocent Motors must be admired for bringing solid manufacturing jobs home. We are all praying or wishing that if more jobs are created in the any state, it would encourage more youths to stay home instead of leaving for greener pasture outside their enclaves. What we should do is encourage more Africans like Innocent Chukwuma to create more well-paying jobs at home throughout Africa. Those blaming Innocent Chukwuma for turning his disagreement with Guarantee Trust into ethnic fight are suspicious of his good faith and those faulting both ethnic sides for defending their interest are either hypocrites or ostrich hiding in the sand. This cliché of “both sides” instead of calling a spade a spade is a new norm so that we can be seen as fair and balance. This is a matter that is neither fair nor can anyone claim it is balance. Innocent Chukwuma unlike the politicians that loot and just pocket the money, created jobs for the masses. So masses interest were directly involved and Igbo youths were right to support him regardless of whose ox is gored. Claiming it is a fight between big boys as if the ordinary people did not benefit is actually dishonest. If many of you were Igbo, you would defend Innocent Chukwuma for bringing the bacon home, no matter how. M.K.O Abiola, though not an active politicians until he ran for President, was even more generous than Chukwuma. He created jobs, not only in the West, he did throughout Nigeria; and he was generous to a fault. Yet, his Yoruba people never shy from pointing out the bad company he kept until these same friends finally killed him. Unlike Chukwuma, he had more money than the bank. Majority of the clients, shareholders and owners of Guaranty Trust are Yoruba. In this case one may wonder or hide under “both sides” why the youths got into big boys’ business. Well, we have a history of banks going belly up. Nigerians in general and Yoruba youths saw another one coming that may affect their interest if people started raiding the banks. They remember how Society General, Bank of the North, and African Continental Bank e.t.c. were raided. However, in each of these cases, it was a matter of dogs eating dogs. Even then, many people lost money in these banks. By and large, Igbo banks were looted by Igbo; Yoruba banks were looted by Yoruba and Hausa banks were looted by Hausa. If you are following me, you will notice the difference here. Innocent Chukwuma tried to get loans from Igbo dominated banks but they saw him as a risk. They have now been vindicated. What we have here is a Robinhood or Ali Baba depending on whose side you are on. Any form of crime used to be a slight on the family. The country changed and the youths that are not well connected see how politicians that looted treasury get inducted with chieftaincy and praise singers; encouraging conspicuous spending habits. It got to a stage that when you reported our youths for 419 or drugs peddling, family’s response, unlike before, changed. Shey na your money he steal? The parents that used to beat us for little infractions like bringing your friends’ pencil home or “forgetting” to use the money given to you to buy books are the ones now asking: is it your business? We were in seminar one day at one of those Ivy League schools when a presenter named a state and town in Nigeria where drug money built up a whole section. Nigerians there could not lift a finger in defense! Before pointing fingers, there is an avenue in Lagos called Cocaine Avenue! Does it make a difference how Innocent Chukwuma got money to build a manufacturing plant creating jobs for the people? We know that he did not use drug or ritual money, he “only” borrowed money from the bank the old fashion way. It is called “OPM other people's’ money”. The difference here is that he got the money from a budding bank started by youths from scratch to equal the old generation banks in excellence. Yoruba and Igbo youths have been involved in internet war for a while. They can easily predict who is involved in rituals, drugs or 419 at home or overseas. Yoruba youths became sensitive to a financial institution within them being cheated and may be dragged into liquidation by no other than some businessman relocating back home. They are grabbed by fear of those taking it all but giving little in return. Guarantee Trust can go under if others acquire such bad loans. In this case, a debtor became the creditor on the order of a court by fiat, what is next? This is a case where Innocent Chukwuma is a hero at home but a villain at the home of his lender. You may not be able to move buildings, highways, industrial and agricultural areas away from a region but you can decapitate their operating incomes by liquidating their banks. Easier to justify at your home town than at the victimized bank head office. This is why there is credit rating so that banks can predict who is likely to default before lending money. Obviously, some banks regardless of which ethnic group dominated their firm, were already cautious enough not to lend to Chukwuma. But Guarantee Trust took a risk and lost big time. Majority of their clients see another Societe Generale brewing and cried foul! Claiming that this is between big boys neglect the interest of poor folks that may lose their life savings again. The poor folks that innocently applied and got good paying jobs at manufacturing automobile plant also have a stake in it. They are rightly defending their personal interest, not taking on the fight of the big boys. There is nothing worse than a damaged name brand. Most businessmen must expand their market beyond their base or ethnic group. The goal is for Innocent Motors to conquer African and later world markets through competition not by damaging its name using ethnic, race or religious overtone to protect his loan when and if due. Innocent Motors always has home advantage, cheap labor and access to raw materials of iron ore and plastics. Nigerian universities are turning out engineering graduates that can make or perfect latest form of plastics for cars. Our Indigenous car makers must face foreign completion head on by reducing their automobile prices, not by asking for market protection that will fail. The loss or absence of mother is irreplaceable. Learn to move on as she remains your guiding angel watching every step you make. Responsible mothers never leave their children alone. Stay close to your conscience and never do anything to disappoint her. You cope by knowing what she could have done during festivals. Even those with mothers may do less but others may do more. Live with what you wish she could have done and learn from those doing less. Mothers and women themselves cannot understand where their power comes from like lifting a car when a child runs under. It does make a difference at what age she left your life but her spirit is always with you. |

The poor have many children while the rich have much more money and less children. Can anyone believe that those living in African countries that see the problem of overpopulation first hand are still skeptical? The writer said it, climate change is a hoax, overpopulation is western propaganda. Make you kontinue o. |
AFRICA EXPLOSIVE POPULATION GROWTH BY 2050 Many years ago, a professor from Sick Children Hospital in Toronto asked health workers during orientation: who is going to feed them after saving all these children in African countries? It sounded callous then but after reflection for years, reality of that statement sunk in. It was a challenge not born out of indifference but genuine concern. By year 2050, annual population increases would be 42 million; from 1.2b now doubling to 2.4 billion, according to the UN. The alarm among world population experts is the pending Africa population explosion. By 2100, Africa would be 82% of total growth; who is going to feed us? Ironically, Africa has 60% of world arable land. Yet famine exists due mainly to manmade calamities, not natural disaster. Low GDP failed policies, mis-education, low storage of food and vegetables demonstrate lack of planning. Blame ethnic conflicts, terrorists’ activities and intolerance on one another for overcrowding? China solution of one child per family was harsh but we can empower ladies over their wombs to curb population: by small business and education. One of the hardest lessons we can teach children is to work twice as hard as others in order to get ahead with too many kids to feed. The notion that fingers are not equal belong to our days not their own days. Yet egalitarian societies teach us that everyone has equal opportunity as long as they work hard and play by the rules. Education and small business empowerment allow women to have some say in the amount of children they want. They would think twice on how to manage the house, family, job and how they would feed and provide better quality of life for their children instead of waiting for “God to provide.” Most men also appreciate women that help their standard of living and provide both economic and emotional support balanced with opportunity cost of childcare and nursery. The rate of economic growth in Africa is not enough to achieve poverty reduction. There are simply no control or constraints on population to deter explosive growth from our Continent in general and Nigeria in particular that will add more people to the world's population by 2050 than any other country. This is not sustainable even with mineral production in South Africa, Congo, Niger and Nigeria. South Africa growth from 0.6 percent in 2017 to 1.1 percent in 2018. Nigeria went from recession to a 1.2 percent growth rate in 2017, going to 2.4 percent in 2018. Indeed, African countries that depend mainly on agriculture have rosier GDP based on less corruption and better planning. Growth in non-resource- intensive countries is anticipated to remain solid, supported by infrastructure investment, resilient services sectors, and recovery of agricultural production. Ethiopia is forecasted to expand by 8.3% in 2017, Tanzania by 7.2 %, Côte d’Ivoire by 6.8%, and Senegal by 6.7%. We have heard stories about those who toiled and made it while others slept. There are also those that pulled themselves up by their bootstraps. Unfortunately, those days of hard work to get rich seem to be rare with unsustainable population. People work smart these days; cheat, loot, swindle or beat the system. It is even more so when young people believe that some are more privileged than others. While the rich tell everyone to work hard, their kids are favored. So why do some folks say we will always have the poor among us? Others said the poor work so hard, they hardly have enough time to think about how to make money. Working the hardest jobs, sometimes two or three at the same time. Since there are only 24 hours in a day, many work two or three part-time jobs. They are always on their way to or from one job or another. Husbands and wives switched children at the bus stops before getting home or to work. There are poor folks working from dawn to dusk. You see them when driving to work and on your way back home, to the recreation spots and back home at night. Many times, we wonder when they get to sleep. Well, it must be stated that poor people are not the only ones working long hours. Some students go to school full time and also work full time. Others do one part-time and the other full time. But only for a limited period, not most of their lives like the poor. The bigger fear of man is the threat or relief from hunger as in stomach infrastructure, followed by emotional appeal to ethnicity in Africa. We have some poor people living big, imitating the wealthy but ignorant of the way nouvelle riche make their money or their connection leading to their wealth. They soon run into trouble when they cannot keep up with the joneses. Since they want to be like them, they support whatever the rich do blindly. More wives more children! Make no mistake about the fact that politicians similarly swindle poor people in developing and developed countries whether they vote or not. Indeed, poor people in both worlds are very religious, so they do not believe in population control. They think climate change is a hoax or the makings of the gods. But in each case, it is the poor that suffer the consequences. Desert encroachment in Tropical countries, hurricanes devastating vulnerable poor in rich countries. Overpopulation and crowding in African countries has increased poverty and flight from the Continent. While it is true that population in the developed countries in Europe and Americas are aging with less young people to support them, that has not changed China and Japan policies on restriction of immigrants. Africans in any country are badly treated since they have failed to build a successful nation of their own or control hedonic tendencies for corruption. If anything, there would be more strenuous immigration policies in the developed countries even when it is obvious that they need more young immigrants to serve their aging population. It would be a double edge sword since they would pick the best brains and skills in Africa, only to be underemployed or sent to inhospitable areas and given undesirable jobs nobody wants. The statistics that 85% of trained physicians in Nigeria left for greener pastures while remaining 15% are still looking for their way out of the Country chills the blood. There is too many mouths to feed in Nigeria. On the other hand, all the Community Health officers remain in their posted areas in the rural parts of Nigeria. There is definitely something wrong with our planning and priorities. No country can afford such brain drain. We can imagine other professionals leaving. Overpopulation has many consequences beyond redemption. Farouk Martins Aresa Source |
AFRICAN OIL PRODUCERS CANNOT THINK BEYOND CRUDE OIL Why do Africans wait until it is too late for our rescue? Right now most African oil producing countries are still fighting about which regions produce more oil. Areas that are not producing oil are exploring other regions for oil. Many of us lost our thinking faculties in hedonism, greed and are spread all over the world beyond value to Africa. So, Not Thinking Beyond Crude Oil. Only in Nigeria do looters go to court to recover loot or oil blocks! Oil became a curse in Nigeria. Many now wished oil were never discovered around their areas because of devastating effect it had, leaving their land an environmental swamp. Farmers cannot cultivate crops and fishermen have been idled. Parent watched children restlessly forming gangs of kidnappers, thugs used by politicians and militias as a way to make a living and use the poor’s plights to enrich themselves. Yet, all the planning to divest away from oil have not materialized after many years. Right now, it is a race against clean energy. Many countries have promised to stop producing automobiles that are powered by oil in about ten years or less. While fear has griped right thinking Africans, we are still waiting for African innovation in automobiles powered by other forms of energies like electric, water, hydrogen or just air. Our scientists are too busy looking for the next meal. So, it is not that we do not have brilliant scholars and well skilled people in Africa that can see beyond crude oil. They are either unmotivated, underemployed or busy scraping or eking out a living. In other words, academics are far from their minds. It is cost-effective to keep scholars in their research space. But many of them would make a better living as politicians. This is the reason you would find many magnificent folks resigned to politics instead of using their brains. What is this writer, as any other Africans doing about it? God created all humans with talents to make contributions. We always leave the task to the other guy and preach to others. This writer would have to go back to school in his older age and train to become an engineer with specialty in digital field. This may not be a good excuse since there are some billionaires that can sponsor research into space or Car Company, called Tesla. Well, this writer is far from being a billionaire. You see O, you see how Africans make excuses? We all yap and yap. When it is time to put talk into action, we come up with variety of reasons; why we cannot. For a long time many of us have been thinking how we could make a difference but the tasks are so overwhelming, many do not know where to start. We helplessly watch Africa as those in power waste resources. Instead of leveraging the income from oil, hedonists decided to lavish it on themselves. We have many Africans working hard at home but they are overwhelmed; can’t form quorums. Luckily for this writer, he found a niche. Those of us that qualified in those days were lucky in the sense that Nigerian Government used to come overseas and recruit. Actually, most were called: it was time to go home before we killed our mothers. There was no reason to waste our talents elsewhere when it could be better used in Africa. The truth was we were only tolerated. We could not wait to go home in view of discrimination, some lack of respect and appreciation. All of us cannot be politicians. Okay, time has changed. Well-qualified Africans are now afraid to go home. Those that went were not gainfully employed. Many had to return and face the music of being under-employed, disrespect despite their amazing talents. Mothers no longer cry for their children to come home. Indeed, they ask you not to come home. Parents want returned tickets so that they can enjoy the “civilized” environment where everything works. Even, well-qualified folks at home are looking for ways to get out. The highly qualified or highly skilled are looking for ways to do anything overseas until they can pass regional examinations and work in their professions of choice. Many are disappointed because they had to seat those examinations many times. What some of them do not realized is that they actually passed the examinations but most professional bodies regulate the amount of workers allowed to practice. African countries spend a great deal of money to train medical and natural scientists. It is sad and disappointing when it was published that 85% of trained Nigerian physicians are lost to developed countries! There was a publication on social media teaching physicians that want to leave the country for greener pastures. It informed them of the process and the examinations they need to take before departing their shores. We are losing our most expensive investments. Many trained Africans in social and other sciences were given scholarships to train overseas. But once they finished, they were lost to Africa. During the first coming of Rawlings as a military officer in Ghana, he detained some scholars that came back on holidays until they could pay back their scholarships. He could have been less harsh, but he made a point on brain drain. The days most African politicians used their brains are over. It was used to get Independence and fight off colonialist powers. Once the next generation got into position of power, replacing those that oppressed them, African politicians started oppressing their own people. Africans politicians are so wicked, some people think they are worse than the colonial powers. There is no difference between the African rulers of Africans and the African chiefs that sold us into slavery in exchange for mirrors. When they ran out of slaves, the chiefs and kings started capturing one another to sell as slaves. As they were disembarking from the slave ships, slaves they had sold overseas recognized them. Humiliated chiefs faced subjects they had sold off. A few wanted to bow to their chiefs; other slaves kicked them in the groin. There is a difference between today’s Africans and those taken as slaves in those days. In those days, slaves revolted at home, revolted on the high seas, inside the slave ships and they also revolted in the New World. Many of them actually jumped into the high sea and die, than land on the shores of strange lands. They fought their oppressors as Mau-Mau, many as night marauders fought against night marauders that came to capture them. Yes, African slaves were brave and some lynched and used jungle justice against those chief and kings. Today Nigerians are so fed up; they take it out on poor hungry folks stealing food in the markets. They are beaten mercilessly and some are lynched. These are symptoms of angry folks that hate dishonesty and went too far to show their displeasure on poor soul instead of leaders. The Buhari/Idiagbon would have got those looters, worse than armed robbers, faced a firing squad. Nigerians recoil when asked to go after their oppressors. Jungle justice for politicians that loot us blind is undemocratic, contrary to the rule of law and due process. Even looters came out and said they loot because we allow them to. So, French and Russian Revolutions or Romanian executions were democratic, they followed the rule of law and due process, abi? Farouk Martins Aresa Source |

SO WE ARE ALL RACISTS Munroe Bergdorf was fired from her job and threaten on social media for: all whites are racists. Yet many whites stereotype all blacks as violent! Does that include white and black that die for the causes of all or were more generous to blacks than white? We need no synonym for blacks that were the worst enemies of blacks. We have since learned that racists come in different colors. Indeed, the notion that because you are black, you cannot be a racist is no longer valid. Black Massa during slave trade were more vicious to their own people than the white owners. However, white privilege is real and all white people enjoy it without questions or inadvertently take it for granted. Even when it is obvious, most white people would rather keep quiet than be bordered with the trouble of raising hell. In a competition for a job opening, would you .... .? What differentiates a racist, white or colored, from a nonracist or broad-minded people is the ability to constantly ask ourselves: am I being fair or seemed fair to others that do not look or belong to the same class as me? Others define racism as power to deny individuals: economic means of sustenance, life or happiness. Slave owners that fought against their trade changed sides until they became richer after denying their conscience at the expense of human trade. Can anyone justify exchange rate that makes Gold Coast(s) poor? We know that white privilege was created and built on the back of slaves to secure future of their children and in universities. Plantations were financed by big banks using slaves as collateral and insurance to secure their profits. In most multi-racial communities, those at the receiving end are people of color already experiencing loss of privilege taken for granted by most white people. When we deprive others of their rights, economic and social value based on skin color; that is the attitude of racists. The fight for Civil Rights was started by Black men who born the worst brunt of it including paying with their lives. However, (mostly) white and black women gained from the Civil Right championed by black men. While white and black women have since made progress or climbed the ladder, black men are still waiting to gain step on that ladder. Where is their helping hands? Nobody wants accusing finger pointed or directed at him, even when the accusation is true. A good answer from a seating black judge when a white man accused her of racism claiming all blacks are racists; needs examination. The judge said there is a difference between a racist and a person that examines his actions. A racist does not care one bit and would basked in depriving others of their God-given right. Some may be subtle others hiding under cover of law or culture. Regardless of real white or black skin colors, as the child grows older, cultures around him attaches privileges to pink and brown colors of the skin. Once a child discovers that pink dolls are seen as more beautiful than brown dolls, the old study of black children preference for pink (white) dolls are noticed early. In a culture around communities or homes where both colors are equally privileged, it is not uncommon to see white children choosing black dolls. Fair, light or white skin is a blemish in some black communities. Fortunately, governments in these few communities in Africa have to enact and promulgate laws of severe punishment to those that see Albinos as a curse. Some communities are still afraid of blue, green and other colors of eyes in their communities. Well informed people know how genetics works in any community. Until more black women gave births to blondes, some thought only whites do. When people say colors are only skin deep and no more; those that want to discriminate would still find a way to do so. In United States, white skin Anglo used to discriminate against Irish and Italians. Today, they all discriminate against white Hispanics. The point here is discrimination based on privilege goes beyond skin colors. It is a hierarchy to gain instant advantage without working for it. India has a caste system where the fairest people are on top by division of labor. Munroe Bergdorf created an uproar that all whites are racists and she got fired as a model. She could have said all blacks are racists and gotten away with it. After all, blacks are suspects until proven otherwise! Bergdorf experience and the point she was trying to make was just as whites thinking all blacks are violent. Black on black crimes in the ghetto, xenophobia in South Africa or religious and ethnic riots in Nigeria are based on the fight for privileges not color of the skin. Nevertheless, people who know all these still discriminate. Assuming we settled on superficial definition of race base on skin colors, racists are everywhere. We all learn to differentiate between colors as we get older, it does not mean we are racists. Left to children, they would appreciate dolls in rainbow colors, some preferring red or green to black or white dolls. Ms. Bergdorf, a person of white mother and a black father refused to back off or amend her declaration based on her experience. Her modeling employer fired her for that statement. She had to explain to her white mother before she understood her point. There was another point she made that did not gain much attention; which is the closer your skin complexion is to white, the better your chances and more access to privileges than a similarly situated darker skin. We all discriminate one way or the other. Indeed, it is human to discriminate and inhuman to generalize. We sometimes discriminate between our children without realizing it until one of them points or describes how he felt. Studies show female grade teachers give privileges to male students without realizing it. While race discrimination is far greater than casual attitude, we do exhibit discrimination in our choices and preferences. Blacks that are not conscious of their attitude towards white people based on past or historical experience could be deemed racists. So, when a white person declares that black people are racists, he may have a point based of his past experience. It is also true that all people, black or white discriminate unless they accept that fact and work against it. Yes, some experiences are so bitter, they scar us for life. But so are good experiences we must focus on to last us for life. We must also admit that bad experience makes more impression or carve deeper wounds. They can come from a close friend, relatives and spouses but if these bad experiences come from a different skin colors, are they racists? Farouk Martins Aresa Source: |
Surprise surprise surprise! THE OGISO OF BINI & IJAW CAME FROM ILE-IFE The most objective way to tell the history of a people or ethnic group like the Bini is to look at historiography from their perspective. In other words, in light most favorable to them: in Jacob Egharevba Ekhere vb' Itan Edo. No historian could have worked harder on Bini. Despite Jacob’s effort from the 1st to the 4th Edition of his books. The facts that Ogiso and Oba Dynasties came from Ile-Ife, never changed. Adumu as common ancestor of Ijaw, Edo and Yoruba was revealed! It was Adumu/Oduduwa’s folks, today’s Ijaw, Edo and Yoruba progenitor that intermarried with autochthonous Ooyelagbo in Ile-Ife, Efa in Bini and Oru in Delta. The relationship between Ile-Ife, near Nupe then, and Bini heralded the Oduduwa or Adumu Dynasty in Ile-Ife. Casting away myths or fantastic stories substituted with archaeology and other scientific facts as radiocarbon dated burial of Ogiso body parts in Ife, it became clear that both dynasties came from Ile-Ife. When the Ujo or Ijaw left Ile-Ife, Adumu or Oduduwa had established over the autochthonous Ugbo or Ooyelagbo. Adumu/Adimu/Oduduwa as a “multiracial” of Ugbo and Tapa from Nupe area and certainly had the blood of Ooyelagbo to rule. This was depicted in the power struggle between Adumu and Obatala descendants. It suffices to understand that the mythical Adumu existed well before Christ compared to his recent descendants in Bini, Ijaw and Yoruba history. It boils down to waves of migration from Sudan north and south, the builders of Egypt mixed with autochthonous Rain Forest people that claimed they never migrated from anywhere but were created on their land. So it is the Bantu that mixed with autochthonous Nri Ibo/Igbo Oru, Osu claiming they never left their land or had no king. Just as Ugbo/Ooyelagbo in Ife and Efa in Bini. There is a distinction between Oba or Obi ruling class and land owners they intermarried. Ijaw like others, mixed and left many lands of Kumoni, Efa in Edo to Bantu, Osu in Delta regions before the 2nd Dynasty of Oba from Ugbo Ile-Ife to Edo. Urhobo and Ijaw had left Aka (Edo) before the 2nd Bini Dynasty of Oba arrived. According to Prof. Peter Ekeh: Urhobo language yields clues to the profile of the society and culture which the Ogisos ruled. Urhobo know this king by his usual name Ogiso, without any other titles. He was their king. On the other hand, Urhobo know the kings of the House of Eweka more distantly as Oba r' Aka, the King of Benin. “Ogiso ma miemwe efiagba" Ogiso never convened meetings but in times of trouble or crises. Moreover, the Oduduwa/ Adumu that sent the Ogiso could not have been the same Oduduwa that sent Oba. Oba of Bini banished his son, Kaladerhan with his mother from the city instead of killing him and he eventually became the Founder of Guwatto (Ughoton) on the bank of a river, after wandering in the forest. Yet many Edo that celebrate the banishment of Ekaledarha with establishment of Ughoton have not spoken up that he was never lost to Ile-Ife and his time or that of his father could never have been the same with that of the ancient Oduduwa/Adumu. As this writer had asked in – The Father Of All Nigerian Ethnic Groups” – on their way from and to Egypt, Saudi Arabia or Israel, Nigerians never met one another? They all found themselves in the same location or split into sub-ethnic groups claiming suzerainty over one another. In the case of Bini and Ife, Ekalarhan son of the last Ogiso that fled and established Ughoton has been reincarnated in 2004 as ancient the Oduduwa/Adumu known to other ethnics before Ogiso. Note the migration waves of rulers as Ogiso, Oba and Obi to landowners: Eri, Osu, Efa and Oru. The Yoruba or Yooba today claimed the world started in Ile-Ife. But Bible writers claimed Eden Garden with Adam and Eve. Scientific evidence has brought the first humans closer to Ife closer to Sudan than the Bible story. This is important because Ile-Ife had moved 8 times according to Prof. Obayemi further away from Sudan and Nupe to the safer Rain Forest. The earliest date so far was the Yoruba artifacts in Iwo Eleru confirmed as around 10,000 B.C. This contradiction in religious belief leads to condemning infidel, kaferi as unbelievers by fanatics on religious opium. Foreign religious dates have changed African history pandering to European belief, be subjected to ridicule, denial of missionary hospitals and schools for those that refused to convert to Islam, Christian, or Jewish religion. Even when there is no radio carbon verified dates of Christian or Islamic dates of life origin based solely on faith. Compared to African oral history held up to scientific standard. Non-believers on faith could lose their lives in the hands of charlatans and extremists on religious opium or those seeking converts. In Ekhere, Egharevba wrote that the Obagodo, the first Ogiso, came to Benin from Ife with charm in form of a snail shell; afterwards cast in brass, containing some earth which vested power over land on him. He had written that "Ewedo was the one who put then reigning Ogiefa as the priest of the earth at the place the snail shell container of sand which Ogiso brought from Ife was buried and the place is also the shrine of the earth deity.” Ogiefa had repeatedly come from Uhe to Benin city for the practice of medicine prior to his accompanying his master Prince Oranmiyan, hence every member of the family of Ogiefa is flattered ever since by the title "Ovbiaronto" (child of the pioneer). This account was discarded as it does not fit into the Hamitic hypothesis account (that everything of value ever found in Africa was brought by Caucasians) on origin of the empire and kingship of his later editions. The foreign religions and ancestors infused in African history started with another fanciful claim by Sam Johnson. He earlier rejected it: Yoruba are certainly not of the Arabian family, and could not have come from Mecca -- that is to say the Mecca universally known in history, and no such accounts . . . are to be found in the records of Arabian writers or any kings of Mecca; an event of such importance could hardly have passed unnoticed by their historians (Johnson 1921: 5). Ogherevba also compromised his work to incorporate the committee's work-Intelligence Report on Benin City in 1938, it became the first application of the Hamitic hypothesis to Benin history by an indigenous elite. Jacob Egharevba initial story both in Edo and later in English changed to accommodate some of these foreign “contributions”. Every ethnic group seized on it claiming kinship to Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Israel ignoring the scientific data that it was Africans that moved around to those foreign lands. It is a case of old countries claiming to be from new areas: reverse migration contrary to scientific facts. Yet, some Africans still see themselves as Egyptians, Arabs and Jews! It is not surprising to see rich Edo sculpture and language compared to that of Egypt and claims that they came from Egypt. What did not change was sojourn through Sudan and Ile-Ife. So, it is not only the Edo that ignored their neighbors they mixed with in their Rain Forest, each ethnic group claim autonomy or not knowing the same neighbors they had inter-married producing what is now referred to as new ethnic groups! Olokun that Bini had in common with its neighbors as worship of the "Sea" (Olokun) was translated to Egypt: "Orao, Orao, Olokun N'oba as "Pharaoh, Pharaoh, the Red Sea" and is an invocation of King Pharaoh in the Red sea. ("Orao" as corrupt form of Pharaoh! Even the brass casting work common to Ife and Bini. Oba Oguola that had asked the Oni of Ife for a Brass smith and had Iguegha sent to him from Ife is now a matter of dispute between Edo historians. CHINA WILL DEFEND ITS INFLUENCE IN N. KOREA/USA WAR There are threats flying back and forth from North Korea to United States. Swahili say when elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers. China will not sit idly while United States bombs its influence or stakes in North Korea. The consequences of proliferation of nuclear waste polluting the environment will be devastating not only on those engaged in war but to African Continent. We have suffered enough in Africa from the climate changes as a result indifference abuse by super powers. The fear of limited or world war looms and world anxiety has been raised. President Donald Trump scored a rare victory with the cooperation of Russia and China in the United Nation on this embargo or sanctions. However, implementation has to be rigid by all of these countries in order to bite in North Korea. It is very doubtful though, if North Korea would give up on its development of nuclear weapons. Testing may be the negotiating point where agreement on all sides could claim victory. The rule remains that you must always leave some room for your negotiating partner to claim some victory also. Hyperbolic languages could be communicated through diplomatic channels or third parties but must not be repeated in public. It leads to grandstanding and miscalculation. North Korea is notorious for such public comments but not United States. The fear is United States may have overshadowed its victory at the United Nation by making public threats. There are vigorous diplomatic talks going on now. China and Russia went along with United State on sanctions which must not be taken as a sign of free reign on North Korea. The world remains a dangerous place and miscalculation could spell disaster because China will defend its interest in North Korea. Russia, no matter how friendly President Putin is with President Trump; would not let the balance of power in that region shift in favor of United States. Indeed, China and Russia may have conveyed their strong opposition to United States about striking North Korea privately through diplomatic channels. In short, letting President Trump know that their support at the United Nation was not a blank check to strike as President Bush did in Iraq. The consequences of that did not deter another; a Libyan strike spilling into Africa. Some Libya nuclear materials are still unsecured. African countries with less resources to deter inflow of terrorists have spent a great deal of the money they should use to ameliorate their citizens from crossing desert and sea. In addition to fighting terrorists as Boko Haram in Nigeria, Cameron, Sudan and Niger. The reasons refugees are crossing the sea and desert are because powerful nations are deeply involved and instigated their civil wars in the name of democracy. While the world is familiar with threats from North Korea, it is unusual that United States President would return such threat wondering who makes ego trips more. United States has no need to prove or remind the world of its might. The empty vessel here is the monkey North Korea pulling the tail of the Tiger. Mr. Trump must understand the world know as much. But the only way to join the Trading Club is to flex the nuclear threat to the Trading Club. It is not going to be a cake walk for the most powerful nations as demonstrated in conventional wars around the world. Nuclear war can be more devastating or even worse. There is no doubt that North Korea has been provoking and now at a stage where it has developed some form of nuclear capability. It has come a long way despite North Korea limited means or resources. But the people are determined to join world nuclear club as the only insurance to external threats. The threats exchanged between United States and North Korea may remind some of us of the label of “Paper Tiger” Mao Zedong labelled United States. Paper Tigers is a Chinese phrase of toothless tiger used to describe United States. Mao came to the realization that atomic bomb or nuclear bomb could be more powerful than the real tiger itself. This eventually led him in pursuit of China atomic bomb. Today China is a bona fide member of Nuclear and Trade Club. North Korea will not be locked out of Nuclear Club nor will it take a back seat despite the threat or warnings coming from different countries. In spite of the sanctions lately agreed to by United Nations, North Korea will survive even at the expense of poor folks that will be mostly affected. North Korea may be annihilated from Earth surface, survive or lack necessities like food. But the people have been starving in that country without this latest embargo. Trade incentive is next! North Korea must not turn its pursuit of nuclear arsenals into a contest with United States. But we also know that powerful nations do not confront one another because they understand the power of mutual or world destruction. So, powerful nations make example or send messages by using smaller countries as battle fields. Indeed, they notify one another to get out of the way. Since China will not give United States an open door into North Korea, the rest of the world may be conditionally hopeful that war would not break out. It is hard to imagine a situation where United States would defy China and bomb North Korea anyway. If United States makes the First Strike, it would be powerful enough to wipe out North Korea. A limited Strike would not prevent more Korean strikes than missiles can shield. If 1 or 2 penetrate, the job is done! Yet, the rest of the nations without nuclear power see North Korea as the David against Goliath. No matter how weak a country is, they do not want powerful nations threatening them and telling them what to do or not do the wishes of super powers. Cultures and customs support different ideologies. It does not have to be exactly like that of Britain or United States. Actually, the Electoral College in USA that overrides popular votes may be repugnant to some countries. The cabinet form of Government of old Oyo Empire worked very well among the Yoruba of West Africa just as Shaka Zulu of South Africa had to commit suicide, as dictated by their custom despite his war victory against the British. We should be fighting against injustice, slave labor and oppression by the filthy rich in the world; not against different forms of governments. Nuclear capability and destruction is knowledge based and a form of intelligence that cannot be monopolized by a group of people. Sooner or later, the evil knowledge will be acquired by more countries and people. There is no way one group of people can prevent another from acquiring it. However, there are ways we can live and trade peaceful with one another without threats. Farouk Martins Aresa Source |
