I do not know what you guys are arguing about. Most of the professors in African America Studies, sciences and medicine come mostly from one section of Nigeria |
POVERTY IN AFRICA NOT ROOTED IN ETHICS INTEGRITY OR LAZINESS If anyone ever comes to you claiming what distinguished “civilized” countries greatness is their hard work, integrity, honesty, responsibility, investment, savings, respect for the rule of law and their citizens; please tell him to get off your face. Before we says we are tired of Africans going back to culture and history; if they take these away from you, replace them with theirs, you will patronize them for the rest of your life. You are their consumers for life! Africa and the West Indies are their farms or plantations for gold, cocoa, sugarcane and banana republics. Ask anyone that has ever worked on their farms. By the time you pay for provisions, room and board, you end up owing these owners of the farms more than what they pay you. They will ask for your wife and children to work pay off what you owe, and still not pay them off. Their economic logic, operation and rules are no different. Most of the folks that work from dawn to dusk are poor people on two or three low paying jobs. One of the maxims, if it has not come to you, is to check what you wakeup on, drink, eat, wear, ride e.t.c everyday and ask how many of them are produced by Africans. Even if we had been left alone before our great Empires of Ghana, Mali, Songhai, Oyo and Kanem Bornu were destroyed; if Africa was on crawling speed, it would still be better off than we are today. We became “enticed patrons” of their finished goods made from our resources and slave labor in the Americas. Let’s face it, we got hooked on their finished goods. Instead of these addicts to accept that we are hooked, we looked at fine wines, exotic food, sex and praised the tastes and qualities of these drugs with all types of accolades. Some then come back and destroy our self-worth rather than what we are hooked on. African cultures and history have some blemishes that must be corrected to adapt to the modern age and improvisation. But please point to one culture that does not have some blemishes! We dare not speak “vernacular” in schools like “bush” boys and girls. People confuse civilization with invention. Civilization is simply the ability to live in peaceful coexistence with one another. While invention can better our lives, it can also destroy our progress and the very existence we are proud of. You ever heard about genetic engineering, robots and cyber wars on electric grid and water purification? How could anyone, especially the victims, glorify those that rigidly monopolize and enforce weapons of mass destruction while capturing others as serfs and slaves to achieve their selfish goals; be called ethical, civilized, hardworking, honest, people of integrity that respect the rule of law and citizenship? Okay youths, that was then, we are talking about now. They no longer burn our villages and capture us as we run for cover? So what are they doing and why are we afraid to negotiate trade with them so that our finished goods can enter their markets at our own price as equal? Not at their own dictated prices. We all know that we either abide by their rules or they would bomb the hell out of us. If they are not throwing fires into villages anymore, they are throwing bombs and contaminating our environment turning into deserts and oil polluted degradation while denying global warming! The Chinese have joined offering more favorable terms: land grabbing for agribusiness, mining gold in Ghana and diamond in East Africa illegally with the cooperation of leaders looking away. While it is true that we cannot blame problems on outsiders or the past anymore, political and economic independence cannot be separated. Powers that give political while retaining economic independence still have their ropes around our necks. Our “best” trained professional see all aspects of our existence from the perspective of their colonial masters. They explain African problems the ways their masters taught them. If Africans can only display more ethics, integrity, honesty, productivity, rule of law and democracy like their mentors, they opined. Most of them attended Oxford, London School of Economics, Harvard, Toronto and Wharton Business School. We are still proud of our Freetown, Kumasi, Lagos Brazilian quarters and (GRA) Government Reservation Areas. We saw GRA in Jamaica, Trinidad and Barbadoes; they were built exactly like those in African major cities. Africans are still proud of being the great grandchildren of slaves. Better still, if we have one drop of slave master blood in us, we are pretty with “good” hair and light skin. This is why we want to deny our past cultures and history while they fight to keep and celebrate theirs with us. See what happens if you get a small cage with male and female mice. As they grow, produce and increase their population, increase the size of the cage by dividing them into English, German and French territories and the amount of imported food you give them. They will follow you as “imprints” like chickens, even if you replace their mothers. If you let them loose, they would fight one another for dominance and space except you. When you bombed the hell out of them, they will cross the seas and deserts to your own territories despite Gadhafi warning to them. They call for regime change, democracy and the rule of law the way they want it but popular votes lose elections in the greatest country in the world, not once O! So face your problems like a man, get off your drugs and go cold turkey. Imported finished goods and services will never liberate you. Your destiny is in your own hands. Until we have an African country bold enough that other black countries can look up to throughout the world, we will continue to wallow in poverty, lose best brains and our leaders that want to be like their colonial masters, even as great grandchildren of slaves, will continue to sell us out for pittance. No please! The exploiters are not ethical or people of integrity that love hard work, save, invest and become more productive. They feed on the weak, the poor, working class and the ignorant. They depend and live on privileges. If it does not work out for them and their children the way they want, they bomb the hell out of you. If anything, it is the the poor and working class with 2 or 3 jobs that have little time left to think of how to get rich. Never forget the encounter between President Reagan and Mwalimu Nyerere. Reagan said if you teach a man how to fish, he would fish forever. True. Nyerere said if the cost of one tractor in the sixties would cost one ton of cocoa from African farmers; to buy the same tractor in the seventies, it cost two tons of cocoa; in the eighties three tons of cocoa to buy the same tractor. How many cocoa farms and farmers would anyone need to buy one tractor today? What we want today is to produce our own tractor. The TRYCTOR is a start. Africans must cut our coats according to our sizes and discourage ostentatious and conspicuous spending; since consumers copied those that have never worked for euro or dollar. Any politicians bragging about foreign contracts while abandoning uncompleted ones he inherited is a rogue. Foreign contract is their ways of stealing you blind. Don’t praise them for the job they were elected to do in the first place. Why are they keen on importing foreign contractors, goods and services after half a century of Independence? Our African cultures have been corrupted and the child has been thrown out with the bath water. We must start thinking in our languages about more homemade goods and services. Enough foreign projects, tax free zones areas and foreign investment portfolio in our stock markets that look for short term gain without creating any value in the country. Money making lacks conscience and ethics. We must encourage values with it. Look for those willing to commit their money to long term investments, local materials, labor with equal pay as the so called expatriates and be willing to train Africans, especially for maintenance. This hit me really bad. Secondary school girls? This is getting worse than slave trade. In this case we are selling ourselves. |
This is funny die. They want sold art work back. Why? So that they can start allocating bogus budget. People who cannot take care of the living, want to take care of the dead. Rescue and buy back all your children crossing the desert used for body parts, slaves and prostitutes first. Provide for them and home, they will grow rich to retrieve your pride abroad. BTW, this is for all Nigerians. |
No Law Can Prevent Physical Attraction Between Adults There are no other people more critical of Africans than Africans. However, we have African cultures that delivered Africans from evil and save them from temptations. When it comes to sexual deviants, Africans are stricter than most cultures. The problem with Africans is when they get confused between polygamy and serial monogamy cultures. Polygamy and polyandry understand sexual desires than hypocritical serial monogamy. Sexual harassment in the workplace kills careers of ambitious women regardless of their natural endowment more than it does that of men. Indeed, men are the main perpetrators since they are the ones in power most of the time. Nothing brings a powerful man down faster than drugs and illicit sex addictions. But as long as workplace remains where folks spent most of their time, opportunities for marriages do happen. So far, not so pretty women have been disadvantaged by the uproar caused by women of adult films and entertainment industries that went into the business with their eyes wide open knowing that they were prettier and heavily endowed than other women. It is simply not the same with jobs where you need skills like brows and brains to survive. Let us be sincere and face the truth, the reason some politicians get elected despite exposure is that voters know that these women are box-office attractions. A politician has to do more or be disliked for other reasons to become a poster boy. No man should spend the rest of his life in jail for nonviolent crime involving psychedelic drugs accepted among hippies culture years ago, as sexual enhancement. So far only one man, out of all of them, may spend the rest of his life in prison. Africans must learn from these experiences because some of our women are watching. If it can happen over there, it can happen here too. After all, it is a global world. There is a difference though; men are still privileged in Africa the same way white men are in Europe, America or Asian men are in Asia. No white man will suffer the same fate Bill Cosby does in America. He forgot he is a black man trashing the same youths he was. If you are wealthy or handsome enough, let women come to you. Understand that not every woman you like would like you, no matter how wealthy, handsome or “bad” you are. Indeed, you should be weary if every woman you see wants you. When you get to a stage in life, sleeping with every woman you see, diminishes your worth and the same women would talk ill of you behind your back. In polygamous communities of Asia and Africa, no man in his right senses would spend U.S multi millions dollars to pay off a lady as extortion and still land in jail for the rest of his life; when he could invest the same amount of money on many women and children. M.K.O Abiola was notorious for his many wives and children but he made each of them millionaire before he died. What and how they spent it is another topic. Selective enforcement of any law including immoral acts makes a mockery of a system. We know that in some countries where prostitution and alcohol are banned, the worst offenders are the highest class. Not only do they import prostitutes throughout the globe, they get drunk on the best imported wines and scotch drinks. It gets worse, in some other countries where same sex relationships are banned, some of their leaders do engage in such behavior. When two people are attracted to each other, trying to prevent, delay or promulgate law is a waste of time unless they are not determined. There are many situations where communities try their best to prevent such occurrence. It could be that workplace and culture would be disrupted. In some cultures, royals are not supposed to marry commoners and the wealthy may be afraid of being dragged into downtrodden poverty. However, we also know that once there is a physical attraction, bodyguards, drivers and house helps have penetrated the sanctity of marriages. So, no amount of law, cultural norms or class can prevent physical attraction between opposite sex. Yet if we do not have laws and cultural guidance on the rules of engagement, we may as well turn to the norms of the jungle, knowing that even lower animals have boundaries or forbidden fruits. There was a friend who accepted that he was short and ugly but could not understand why women would not love his money even if they did not love him. Well, he had not met the “right” woman. During our school days, there was this beautiful lady. She dated nobody but tall and handsome men. She got a few disappointments. We were all surprised when she came back with one ugly, short man from the old country. Wow sis! Women too have their own hidden agenda. When your woman tells you a guy is after her, you must wonder about the ones she wanted and never told you of. Even worse, the one she slept with. Neither men nor women would tell their friends or partner when they cheat but could make up stories when caught by others. Women are known to have gone after rich men for their money: Rupert Murdoch and Femi Otedola. Otedola dealt with those Canadian girls by letting police take care of them and Murdoch paid a heavy divorce price to the woman he snatched from one of his employees. The case of Bill Cosby and the fact that he might spend the rest of his life behind bars is pathetic. It is very difficult to understand why a wealthy and handsome man like Bill would drug ladies before sex, preventing them from working hard for his money. Unfortunately, wealthy and in many cases handsome men have become perpetrators as well as victims of sexual harassment. Wealthy men think they can buy any woman and handsome men think no woman in her right senses could reject them. Both wealthy and handsome men bring some of these problems on themselves, unless you are targeted. May God save men from a lady that would extort US $3.4m from a mentor and send him to jail for life! Wackie & Die: Government House Is Not Retirement Home Changee of entitlement mentality must start from the grassroots all the way to the top. If youths want a lasting impact in the country, especially in a presidential system, they have to get involved at the grassroots level shaping and wrestling primaries away from pillagers. Use local universities as staging grounds. Changes a president can make without support in both Houses at the Federal and states levels is limited; a benevolent dictator can be impeded or impeached. Jungle justice shows how angry you are but on the wrong types of folks. The cry of Onye oshi, Ole and Barawo may be getting louder. It is just a start. Not only do youths have to vote, youth must watch the ballot boxes from being stolen! We also have to watch out for those cunning politicians hijacking the crowd by paying them to shout OLE. The story of robbers disappearing into the crowd that is pursuing them; only to push someone else in front as the Barawo has been told and witnessed, but not enough to draw caution. It is not sufficient to vote out the looters and replace them with youths. Those youths must demonstrate how they are different from the likes of former Speaker Bankole that just wanted an opportunity to chop. However, the youth have less entrenched sense of entitlement, baggage of godfathers, born to rule mentality, parties of kickbacks and resource allotments or king makers. If we can really start afresh, youths will have opportunities to change mentality. Spent old politicians without vigor and vitality need to go to retirement home. Account for past previous achievement in the first place, after many false starts. They all wrecked the economy while celebrating false sense of grandeur with little accomplishment. We are so poor a country, yet politicians cancel contracts and pad up the costs of new ones without any consequences. Right in our face, their projects of roads, bridges or hospitals are the world most extravagant. So, who has ethnic leadership helped (epp)? Indeed, the whole country is a mess! Look at the environmental disaster in Niger Delta and the rate of poverty in North-West and East and tell us what their leadership have accomplished to alleviate people’s needs above subsistence living. Fishermen have lost ways of making a living and poverty is still concentrated in the North while the number of oil millionaires claiming arduous digging for oil increased in the North and South. We are already witnessing thugs, riffraff and political jobbers maiming one another or snatching boxes in the party primaries. This is not only to intimidate opponents but also to eliminate rivals and youths competing for the positions. This was how all militia started before they turned into religious and political terrorists that could no longer be controlled by their sponsors. Boko Haram was put on steroid to make Jonathan’s reign ungovernable. It came back to haunt us all. Ironically, it is the turn of Fulani herdsmen to make Buhari’s reign ungovernable. If Jonathan could not control Boko Haram, he deserved what he got and since Buhari could not control the Fulani herdsmen, he would get the same changee that kicked Jonathan out. Indeed, the recycling of sick old politicians by cabals that only care about self-interest, devoid their leader of control over their cabinet. Lack of peace and security is not conducive for economic growth or civilized activity. Buhari saw, hear and learn nothing from Jonathan’s changee? It was embarrassing that Buhari, in front of the President of United States that has more intelligence on the activity of Fulani herdsmen than him, said these were Libyan terrorists and Fulani herdsmen do not carry AK47! Instead of confronting Fulani herdsmen mayhem head-on, he was giving excuses for the destruction of life and properties as historical events. He became an apologist for perpetrators of havoc on innocent folks. So historical atrocities must continue? Not comfortable anywhere. Youths jump from fry pan inside African countries into fire outside. Most African countries got their Independence about fifty years ago. While the number of schools and hospitals have increased compared to the colonial era, the increase in the number of industrial, housing and agribusiness have not kept pace with population. Indeed, the vision of the leadership that fought vigorously for Independence as youths has been shattered, replaced by vagabonds that facilitated rapacious rape of Africa’s resources and people. The next election in Nigeria will determine if the youths that make up sixty percent of most African population will determine Africa’s future with votes they can get, not only from their cohorts but also from the grassroots that must be convinced that business as usual is working against their interest and future generations. It is not enough to cry that parents are losing their children and grandchildren to foreign countries and cultures: do something about it at home! Canada has joined many countries that have had enough of Nigerians. The projection is that by 2050, there may be more people in Nigeria than in European Union. Actually, immigration has become the bogey needed across the European and American countries to scare voters. Any country that does not take a hard line against immigrants will have its government changed. Asian countries have always been hostile to immigrants, even from fellow Asian countries. Nigeria is too blessed with brains to be stuck with so many bad leaderships. If we can only apply those brains to legal productive enterprises instead of crowding out political process as the only way to success, other avenues would be discovered. Brains that should be busy competing with youths worldwide are being wasted in unproductive and defeating endeavors across the world. There is nothing wrong with attracting foreign investments, as long as you understand that you get what you negotiate, not what you deserve. Like the slave trade, it is very doubtful if these renege politicians understand the art of negotiations as they are still exchanging uranium, gold, cobalt, and diamond for mirrors exercising their consumer mentality. Not only must we become producers, we must have affordable prices to compete and patronize our own goods. by Farouk Martins Aresa @oomoaresa The views expressed in this article belong to the author and do not necessarily reflect the editorial policy of NewsRescue https://theworldnews.net/ng-news/wackie-die-government-house-is-not-retirement-home |
So the Oba of Benin finally went back home to visit like a good son that made good outside. |

FILTHY RICH OLDIES PARTY & CELEBRATE MACE WITHOUT FEAR OF ATTACK When we were growing up it was a common wish that our children would do better and become more prosperous that we did in life. The youths must not be bamboozled. Mace is simply a symbol of distraction. No matter how you use it, you can never be British or American. Ask Igwe, Emir and Ooni for a copy of theirs if that will change your culture of corruption. Our children then meant every child coming after us since we wanted to leave the world a better place than we met it. Unfortunately, in our lifetime we are witnessing mad filthy rich old men dancing naked in the market claiming they are celebrating Mace, marriages and birthdays while the majority of the people they rule watch the opulence and ostentatious display of wealth stolen from them. There is nothing wrong with rewarding yourselves and your children after working very hard or multiplying money you met at home, loans or Esusu turned into multi billions successful corporate projects. We wish you well, emulate your hard work and want to be like you when we grow up. Hard earned money inspires youths, creates jobs and more important, fosters good morals character in the communities. A well-disciplined corporate practice produce ethical leadership for a variety of children including discipline from parents to children. On the other hand, unscrupulous businesses and political opportunists create, replicate and encourage youths that follow their path of greed, corruption leading to a society that becomes unstable, unable to sustain itself or even perish like an old empire mere in decadence. Most of their children develop a sense of entitlement, aimless and continue the moribund failures of their parents, even abroad; which looked like success to the blind or naïve observers. These are midnight marauders claiming success with nothing to show for it. When they go to Dubai, London and New York to celebrate: e wo ara yin ni awo rerin, won wo yin ni awo sunkun. Those people you are trying to impressed, are moved beyond tears for the plight of your people at home. In other words, we are in the midst of moral decadence as our looters dance and celebrate on the graves of women, children and helpless men just to amuse themselves. Ask each of them what they do for a living, they will claim some multi dollar or euro dealings in the skies that have never benefited the country they serve. Ask them how much they declared and pay in taxes, they will tell you the common man is not paying his share of taxes but expect services. We all wish they could practice what they preach when they deduct from common man’s paycheck. Pay As You Earn. What they have mastered, is how to milk the treasure legally. Therefore we watch as Vagabonds-In-Power crowd out struggling youths and compete with honest successful women and businessmen by celebrating new wives, birthdays, weddings and naming ceremonies for themselves and their children. Their friends, classmates or cohorts that are not so privileged cannot honor the invitations that may or may not have come their ways. If they decided to crash local parties without being stopped at the gate by protective armed guards, they certainly cannot honor the exalted occasions in London, New York, Caribbean or Dubai, even when formally invited. The cost of designer suits, exotic lace and gele are enough to deter acquaintances with limited means. You may wonder where some of your friends obtain money to dawn these expensive uniforms only to show up to collect food in plastic bags, tucking it in their handbags (nah take home doggie bag naow). If lucky to grace one of those auspicious occasions, they get to collect a suitcase full of goodies. When dressed to kill by wrapping tight in see-through dress, slim fit or with bleached skins, some of them may get sprayed with foreign currencies. Investment in aso ebi uniforms may or may not pay off at these parties! It is no longer where they get the money from, it is up to you to prove where or that they looted the Central Bank legally and illegally. Some of us do not understand the House Mace distraction, democracy, rule of law and due process. Police, lawyers and judges that are knowledgeable are positioned to interpret these as they do in “saner climes”. Only a fool would steal in moderation without dipping deep to pay-off for all these law men and women, taken into consideration. In short, steal enough to pay each of them off at every stage. If you chop alone you die alone. There are accusation flying left, right and center. Rogues accusing money launderers or cats waiting for their turns like former Speaker Bankole did. If a dog steal a bone, you may find it later somewhere, when these cats steal meat, there is no point of return. If you are not careful or claim to be above par, they will rope you in. Ask Prof. Tam David-West, Dr. Adenike Grange or Prof. Fabian Osuji. More Northerners stoned barawo. We have to be careful now. We do not want to antagonize our youths or label them lazy as none of them would bell the cat. Some are very comfortable with their IPhone, even without a job trying to cope with the children of the rich and famous. There used to be a time though, when youths would protest over bad food in the universities, lack of running water, rigged appointments or dirty environment. When, when, please when was that again? Ancient history! What is beyond reason is why the same youths would risk their lives across the sea and desert but would not risk confronting their oppressors at home: only snatched useless Mace in the House. Some admitted that they were willing to waste their lives where nobody knew them than die at home hungry and desperate. During the Bar Beach Show, some armed robbers confessed that bullets killed faster than hunger. Only a hungry belly knows where it hurts! These spent leaders are now positioning themselves as the champions of youthful presidential candidates for new leadership. They failed when they were in position to change the direction of their country and to provide for the future of the same youths. Never underestimate our youths, they may cast their differences aside and elect a young blood as the President. They may disappoint the filthy rich old men that are lining up for Any Party In Power! This is Africa where every close relative around your father's age is a father or uncle. The last time I heard this arguement about absentee father was outside. The father was fighting a good cause not frolicking and sleeping about. You cannot blame the mother either. But these days, a teacher cannot even touch a kid without the parents raising hell. Pray for a kid that would listen, no matter what you do. With lootets all around, and their children with a sense of entitlement, hold on tight. We are in for a rough ride. God will not come down to save Nigeria abeg. |
This discussion has been very informative. Even the jokes are enlightening. The disagreement here is not unusual. Medical and nutrition journals are of varied opinions and research. But a retrospective study over some years, I think about 30 years, came to the conclusion that emphasis should be placed on portion because there was no statistical difference in weight gain between protein and carb. diets. Until recently, Asians ate a good amount of carbohydrates without much increase in weight. Since protein has been introduced more into their diets because they are getting wealthy, they have seen increase in weight gain. Some of you may remember Atkins protein diet and Mediterranean diet. People lost weight on both. As for oil, there are saturated and unsaturated fat. None come solely without the other. Oil is essential for our body. To make it worse, there are people genetically programmed to get fat if they have fat parents. In those cases, they have a greater task than most people not to look like mom or dad. Yet, we blame and even laugh at them. It is not easy for them but better for them to get control of their weight. The amount of diseases that they are predisposed to make losing weight a better task. Of course, sugar should be labelled like cigarettes. The western world is now promoting palm oil after discouraging it for years. Eat less, as I indicated in earlier post, but varieties of African foods. Oats and wheat are promoted for western patronage and African inferiority complex. Preference for white bread is a good example; instead of cassava or cocoa bread; which are bought at a premium outside Nigeria. |
Those that told you to stop eating are right. But no one can completely adhere to a diet. The only secret is to eat very small portion in different varieties of food. Your biggest meal must be lunch and the smallest must be dinner. All the studies about protein and caborhydrate diets have been confusing and contradicttory. But you must include fruits and nuts. When you tell people not to drink alcohol, they cheat like they do with food. So take only one drink occasionally. Please include exercise. Note that all vegetable diet is not satiable. If you eat enough vegetable, you can still get fat. The biggest animals are vegetarians. |
See, see how NIGERIA is going down. See how they turn important topic to raslot. For centuries gold, diamond, tin, copper, uranium etc are being mined and stolen. Now they are using your own people to steal from you. Nigeria does not have the foggiest idea how much oil is going out or how to get flare gas converted to productive enterprise. Make una a dey fight o. Well done, udo. |
May God bless you. I pray that you get to a worthy and responsible position in Nigeria. Watch the beasts jet out of Nigeria shopping for so called well equipped laboratories. Since Independence, they have not been able to build machines and laboratories at home without subcontracting to oyibo countries so that they can get their chop. Simple Bursen burners and Petri dish they cannot copy, replicate or steal designs like Japanese and Chinese in Nigeria. Just watch that money go down the drain. For how long can a fool maintain a laboratory he did not build from scratch. Btruth: |
This Edo people are just like Judas. They love to take a beating. The more beating they get, the more they love it and keep coming for more. Una nor dey taya? Una wan hia word plenty plenty. For some years, you got away with false and fabricated stories that never added up. You were ignored for long but would not stop. Now that you are getting what you deserve, I feel sorry for una. Tomorrow, they are going to open another thread on Yoruba. |
If we only accept the way non-African see us and researched us as mostly from the same origin. It is not surprising that we borrow or copy from one another. Indeed, if you go to the East, you will note varieties of designs within each clan, village or ethnic group. The same is true in the North and and the West. The difference here is that Yoruba have been the pace setters because many had taken design as a profession earlier, changing and improving the styles. As these styles come into prominence or accepted by the majority, it spreads beyond the borders into all parts of Africa and Africans into Diaspora. The bottom line is that as long as you move up the ladder irrespective of where you come from, you can afford these new designs made popular by Yoruba but may have originated from Senegal areas as correctly pointed out. The new head tie by Yoruba women is a case in point. Even older women are now part of that fashion. I remember that omo-alata gele became even more popular and accepted when Okonjo Iweala adopted it. Even in retro looks, who else would dare put on something that was out of fashion or that old today? |
Rather Be In Foreign Jail Than Live Free In Africa Many Caribbean and African countries are going into agreement with developed countries to repatriate prisoners back to their countries. Countries or prisoners are either given lump sum of money or promised new prisons in their home countries. Some countries have signed on while other countries bark at the offer. The countries that barked at the offer see it as another form of slavery in disguise. Whatever we think is slavery, we must ponder and look at some points. Most of these criminals were youths, good people and law abiding folks before they left home. They were corrupted because they suddenly found themselves at the bottom of the ladder in the countries of their dreams. In other to survive, they did all kinds of odd jobs including some in criminal activities that landed many of those in jail. Some took to prostitution, drug peddling, forgery and those activities they would never have tried within their communities back home. African countries are not that bad but we have to taste life outside for some of us to appreciate some opportunities we could have taken at home. By the stories we hear, one would think there are no trying and debilitating times for some of those poor struggling in rich countries. There were many examples of suffering without smiling that are hidden from us but we say better there than here at home where everyone knows you. This writer carried phone books for delivery on his head and shoulder in a foreign country but would never have done it at home! Of course some Caribbean countries refused to take prisoners back as they have enough hard time dealing with criminals at home. In order to sweeten the deal, these developed countries have tied it to more “foreign aids”, bear the cost and expenses of building local prisons. The offers have been taken by a few African countries, they are just waiting for implementation. We may be surprised to wake up one day and find out some prisoners were secretly returned. We know animals would swallow any money given. There is nothing more toxic to a developing country than some “exalted hard core criminals” they have no idea how to handle. Many of us were surprised that, just as toxic criminals, toxic waste we have no expertise to neutralize were dumped in African countries. Well, this are humans and they are still alive and well. If anyone can deal with them, it should be the countries that were well endowed with resources to do so. Recently, Israel followed the pattern of other countries by offering illegal aliens that considered themselves Jews by right, money to go back to their countries. Many refused the money stating that they would rather stay in Israeli jails than go back home. They claim that the situation in Israeli prisons would be far better than the civil wars going on in their countries. Others claimed their countries were no better than those already described by another President as sh.tholes. We are even hearing some suggestions regarding the return of the Europeans as colonialists since Africans politicians have proved that they cannot govern a single African country with any reasonable expectation of success. As distressing as this may sound, those suffering and others that have been marginally effective in saving good money; use it to pay fraudsters to ship them to any country of their dream. So too are professionals leaving if opening present itself. What is ironic about this is that we comfort ourselves by claiming Africans are one of the most educated and successful ethnic groups in Europe and America. We brag about many physicians, engineers and professors in percentage than citizens of those countries. What they fail to tell us are the numbers of professionals that could have challenged their local oppressors but would rather waste their locally developed talents in these developed countries, stuck with odd jobs. Others work so many hours, they hardly have enough time for their children and wives. By the time they finish their professional jobs in the day, they run to other jobs at night to pay bills and other expenses for the luxuries they hardly enjoy. They mortgage nice homes, cars and the kids go to private schools while sending money to extended families at home. We hear about those that succeeded but not about those that slumped dead in the process. They might as well die trying than live and strife for success at home! There is more to making money to live a stressful life at home or abroad. Nobody wants to make the money that would be consumed by weakened immune system subjected to opportunistic diseases. The purpose of making money is to take care of number one in order to take care of others. It is a vicious circle, money is worthless in the face of body ravaged by depression suffered at the bottom. It might take a while to register in our youths but we cannot wish it lasts into our older years. It is one thing to use extreme analogies of rather dying across the deserts and drowning in the sea than stay hungry in African countries. But preferring to live in prisons abroad including Israel say more about those exporting Euro orU.S dollars out of Africa. Dollars, pounds and currencies of other countries are earned in African countries with blood and sweat of miners, farm workers and poor folks working from morning until dusk or professional on double shifts. Those that claim that Africans are lazy have never witnessed majority of Africans at work, they ignore young men, women and in many cases children hawking on the street throughout day and night wondering when they go to sleep or wake up. The survey of happiness are being used in different ways, even misinterpreted as suffering and smiling. It was a comparative survey and in no way reflect relative happiness in Africa. Nevertheless, the top 10 Happiest Countries In Africa according to UN Happiness Report are: 1. Mauritius 2. Libya 3. Algeria 4. Morocco 5. Nigeria 6. Somalia 7. Cameroon 8. Gabon 9. South Africa and 10. Ivory Coast. No matter how they justify their indicators, it shows that happiness is comparative. Africans are optimistic. A marginal living in Europe and Americas is a luxurious form of living in Africa if you can afford food, your own water and electricity by generator. Are we taken for granted suffering and smiling in our misery perpetrated on us by our leaders in collaboration with their enablers where they save and spend our foreign currencies? Most folks have actually given up and would rather spend time making sure they and their family are not victims of poverty ever again. There is no other place poor people are disrespected as in Africa. Nigerians never ceased to amaze me. Properties of a looter is seized, he still has supporters. |
If anything Yoruba tolerance is surprising to foreigners at home and abroad. Abuses is making it difficult. |
See me see trouble o! I was just trying to make peace, the guy descended on me with insult. If you are bereft of reason, fact and logic, you throw insultive missiles. A begi, nor fes. AxxeMan: |
The Oba's book that started all this claimed that both Ooni and Oba Bini could be right as father and son. Which one is yours? Are you crying more than the bereaved? AxxeMan: |
This is a shame. A real shame. Yoruba and Bini that have known one another as brothers and sisters are not only different ethnic group but different races just because of suzerainty. Look at Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo that have lived and intermarry for ages at one another's throat. The Oba that started this is dead, buried and gone. The children are fighting. Fight as long as you want, Nigerians know you as the same. |
It was good grades for sex that some students decided to fight. Then came expired education on top of too many strikes and long graduation periods. We also heard about lecturers in one university jumping to become professors after one year in another university. All these are sad and unfortunate. But they can be cured, especially in the university environment which is still better than curing corruption in the whole country. Just as it is easier to clean up corruption in the judiciary. Those that are suppose to effect the solution are looking for way out of the country - jumping from fry pan to fire. As someone rightly pointed out, who do you think is waiting to receive you in United States or Europe after failing to stand up and clean your own country. The old saying that when Nigerians are driven to the wall, instead of fighting back, they melt into the wall is very apt here. Do you know how many students, blacks and other people of goodwill die fighting for their country? It is one thing to claim most Nigerians are helpless. If the same is true with students within your universities, you need to examine your head. May be you are the problem, not your country. mvem: |
What a pity. There is a civil war within Bini internet warriors. Some are denying Ogiso, others denying Ogiamen while most cling to OBA they never had until 12th century. The fight has just begun. Let us watch. |
He should have turned himself around when his father was alive. Quite an embarassment. What can he say to his children? |
I'm having a hard time believing this is their mother. For one, she looks too young and two; nobody can hit his mother so hard and strip her naked. |
Look I hear your frustrations. There has to be some inbuilt guidance to weed out unproductive professors with or without tenure. The easiest way to tell is if the professor is publishing his research. Some good teachers have been let go because they are not publishing. I still remember one in my days. He was one of the best teachers but he was not publishing enough. We tried to protest out of ignorance. My earlier post and point still stand though. |
I cannot believe what I am reading here. A half illiterate with zero understanding or information of the role of education in science and arts was invited here to tell you white, he said it, white education is modern. Inplicitly, black education has expired. Most of you here buy the crap. I do not know who told you that there are no lazy professors in America teaching with old notes until they are booted out. You guys do not know the difference between lazy and hard work? Has Chinese, Russia or even North Korea education expired. They are at par with American nuclear force, the main power behind their economic and trade negotiations used to dominate the world. When your teachers are running around, hustling for food and their children hustling for ipads and other foreign toys instead of inventing their own, you blame expired education. How much education do you need to invent, plagarize inventions and invade world market with plastic? Nigerians, the giant of Africa, your mumu too much. Go after your oppressors instead of running into walls. Think more and cram less of what others like this ignoramus from some irreputable university imploy you. As usual asking for follow-follow. You can never catch up. Most inventors quit universities to consentrate. Africa has the biggest field in the BUSH for research and inventions. BTW, when hunger catch Biafra, na who teach dem to invent? Na where all the invention dey today. Oh, before I forget, where una FIRST IN AFRICA dey after Awo? |
Ignorance is a bigger disease. The kid can be easily treated in Nigeria. |
It is a shame that religion upon all our problems dominates our psychic. This is another reason why religion is tearing the country apart. The greatest disappointment is with Yoruba. You were all taught that - Oloun maje ka gba were mo esin. Of all people worldwide, there is no place where different religions are tolerated more than among Yoruba. Which of those families and yours do not have Christians and Muslims within? |
Olu317, Thanks. It is not only Yoruba complexity. What you just split wide open was what gave rise to Adam and Eve, even when we know the contradiction that their children wondered away to marry other people. Different groups have filled this same void created by Eledumare with Buddha etc. Yoruba, as the Bible, Koran or Hindu religion, filled this void with their earliest man or woman. In the case of Yoruba, it was Oba-tala and later Oduduwa. Oduduwa is not only recognized by today Yoruba alone, Oduduwa is known as Adumu by Ijaw and close names from Benin Republic to the West Indies and South America. So it is not like Yoruba just woke up in 2000 and invented Oduduwa. This is why some historians stated that if Oduduwa followed Obatala, he must have been here before Christ. Thanks for opening up the void again. |
No, you can't be serious. Fulaman198:Go back to your history lessons and review the persecution of so called Middle Eastern religion in the hands of Rome. Better still review the rejection of the Pope or Rome well before Martin Luther. Learn what gave rise to Archbishop of Canterbury. If I may ask, do you think the Egyptian Coptic Christians and Ethiopians think Jesus Christ came from Middle East? |
