maclatunji: Jarus, I could have told you for free that you would do this. Let me give you advice that is worth at least N100,000. Start with http://www.jarushub.com point your current blog to this domain name and save yourself time and effort.
I have domain name www.jarushub.com already, to point to it today.

Thanks. That was the first thing I did. I have secured jarushub.com already.
Webmasters › Why I Am Going Into Blogging by Jarus(op):
Dear friends,

I wish to formally inform you that I have gone into semi-full time blogging.

I have privately blogged for almost 4 years actually, but the blog (www.jarus..com) was majorly to archive my political interventions.

After giving it so much thought and consulting techies (Seun has been one of my pillars and advisers, I have decided to launch my own blog.

This is different from my old blog and my goal is to break into Nigeria's top 5 blogs after one year, and by the end of second year by God's grace, we want to be mentioned in the same breathe with Linda Ikeji, Bella Naija, Sahara Reporters and Nairaland and formidable forces in online Nigeria.

I know that's a very tall ambition, given the failure rate of similar blogging dreams in the past. But is there anything wrong in trying?

But something keeps telling me that I can be a successful blogger. I have been doing some readings in recent time and consulting with elders in the trade. Seun has especially been very supportive. Almsot every single action I have taken so far I sought his advice.

After so much considerations, I settled for Jarushub as the name of the blog.

I have assembled a couple of savvy friends to assist in getting content (although so far, save our Jega scoop, every other content is entirely mine)

Our style is to blend political news with analyses. We also want to make career and mentorship our niche. I'm not an entertainment buff, but unfortunately, entertainment is what sells blogs most in Nigeria ( I met an American blogger while researching whose blog is solely on Christian Personal Finance - very narrow to me but the guy is making cool cash from the blog and resigned his daily job to face the blog which is what he does full time now. Can such narrow topic ever sell in Nigeria?. Although we know entertainment blogging space is saturated in Nigeria with the Linda Ikejis of this world, but we still want to try our hands on that too, while trying to carve a niche on career/mentorship and analyses.

I bank strongly on my modest network to scoop news and exclusive interviews. I also believe my penchant for this Top 10 this, Top 10 that (which you all know me for here) can be put to professional use there.

So dear landers, I present to you JARUSHUB.......Nigeria's block on the blog: www.jarushub.

I'm still working on it.

PS: Can I leave my O&G job for fulltime blogging? Let's get to the brdige first. But never say never.

I welcome your comments, advice and opinion. I solicit your support in making JARUSHUB the next big thing in CyberNigeria.

Health › Re: When Last Did You Go For A Comprehensive Medical Check-up? by Jarus(m): 10:10pm On Mar 18, 2013
My former company used to carry out annual 'comprehensive' medical tests for staff.

However, I'm not sure what is called comprehensive check-up is comprehensive.

I have had the habit of doing more detailed check-ups for myself. I'm quite health conscious (although my dietary and sleeping habit are not so health-conscious). I try to do check-ups if possible anytime I'm outside Nigeria (for reliability purpose, and also cheaper sef). I also do in Nigeria. I keep eyes on all my major organs - kidney, liver, heart etc. I did renal function test just last week.

I do liver function tests too. I have even done CT scan sef - 2010. I have done ultrascan many times. I do check my heart function as well.

Anytime I suspect anything or feel any unusual symptom, I subject myself to tests beyond GP's descriptions. Maybe because I read a lot about health. I once paid 60k to do colonoscopy (in 2011, I think) because I found blood in my stool. Colonoscopy is examination of one's intestinal tract for an tumour (blood in stool can be a symptom of colon cancer). Nothing was found. Never had blood in stool again since then ( 2 years ago). So it may just be I chop something bad that time.

I do do cholesterol check too. Last one I did was about 2 weeks ago. My ldl normal but hdl just at the lower boundary.

I'm ultra-health conscious. I do a lot exercise as well. Play football every Saturday and Sunday. My major problem is dietary discipline. I eat anything. I also don't take enough sleep, sleep late (no thanks to NL) and wake up early (no thanks to working in Lagos).
Christianity Etc › Re: What Would Make You Change Your Religion? by Jarus(m): 12:24pm On Mar 17, 2013
okechukwu2013: I put it to you that while you were professing christianity you never practiced it. As a passive member may be you found yourself in the midts of fanatical musilems who brainwashed you to accept their faith. If you are conversant with theological history you find out that a lot of musilems who changed to christianity are more zealous and committed in the christian faith because to them they have finally seen the light. I seriously pity someone like you who was born into a real relegion only for you to abandon it and is now chasing shadows.I pray that your lost soul be retrieved before it is too late
Bros, it is also same for Christians than change to Muslims. They practice more.

And for those blaming the Channels TV presenters for 'ridiculing' him... It's either:
-you are subsidiaries/beneficiaries of a rival media station
-or you are subsidiaries/beneficiaries of NSCDC
-or you are simply learning learners
-or your thinking faculties have been encrypted by 'the Oga at the top' and he has misplaced the access code...

shurlermoz: His ego pushed him not the journalists, he kept shouting "wait, wait, wait"
His 'wait, wait' wasn't ego but defence mechanism. He had to be defending with 'wait, wait' to avoid further pushing.

I won't call it unprofessionalism, but I agree with Ruggedman that the man was pushed too far. Haba, it was obvious that he didn't have an answer but they kept harping on that question as if they were out to ridicule him.

Teachable moment. Beyond the comedy. What if you were in "oga at the top's" shoes? How would you have answered a simple question you don't know in a public space? For example, I had been using BB for 3 years before I knew the full meaning of DP? What if I was on live TV, discussing 'politics and the social media' and one thing led to the other I was required to tell the full meaning of DP (e.g I mention DP and the presenter asks me to enlighten him on what DP means). How would you have managed such situation? If I was in such situation I would have played with words. For the DP case, I would have played with words and answered like this: "Maupe, one interesting thing about social media is that a number of abbreviations fly around, that people are even less interested in their meaning, but the message they pass. For example, popular as it is, we still have people that don't know the full meaning of lol. In essence, people are more concerned with what DP is about. I know the P-part means picture, but you will be surprised I may not be able tell exactly what the D stands for. Definitely, me and you know what DP is about - the picture in the short data page of your BBM. And that's the most important."

I need suggestions on how to manage our "oga-at-the-top's" situation. What is the least embarrassing way to manage such situation i.e being asked your organization's website on live TV and you don't know it?

How do you salvage such situation? How do you minimize, if not outrightly eliminate, the embarrassment?

And generally, how do you manage embarrassing situations in public/interviews etc?

Not surprised. Paid less than $100/night for a 4 star hotel in Dubai. You can't get a 4 star hotel at less than N30,000 ($200) in Lagos or Abuja. Same for transport, although Abuja a little better in that regard. Cost of living in Lagos and Abuja are too unfriendly joor.

lacicrips: Simple: integrate your dining section into your living room.

Now tell me why anyone would leave this to eat elsewhere.
It doesnt matter to me. Using the dining set, sitting, is too boring, irrespective of where it is located. Floor, or sometimes sitting room chair with food on top of stool, does it better for me.
