wesley80: Would you be surprised if it had to do with discontent over your handling of Afam's suspension? I know we r over it but I can't help but wonder if lessons have been learnt, what with this apparent willful ignorance? My brother, "Denial" isn't only a river in Egypt, it could sometimes be a well respected Mod in Nairaland!

BTW, congrats to Katz.
Yes, I know a few disgruntled people pulled out, but you guys are not up to 20.

Open ballot still account for the most.

Too bad some supposedly enlightened folks don't know the simple principle of journalism.

Don't know what is wrong in using words like Ogun born, US based, Kano prince etc which are all innocuous descriptions .

And hypocritically, nobody has raised eyebrow over my using Kano legislator in profiling Faruk Lawan in the shame thread.

OAM4J: Yes a few protested by not voting but I think its more of the later, the open balloting did not give room for multiple handles voting. I will suggest open balloting system should be encouraged in all our elections going forward.
Yeah.

2010 was poorest. We had less than 40 votes, but it was because we were mourning Bawomolo during the period.

Politics › Re: *~ Katsumoto Voted The Politics Section Poster Of 2012 *~ Congratulations by Jarus(op):
I agree there was low turn out this year, has but I won't be surprised if it's because of open ballot system that did not give room for multiple handles voting.

Andre Uweh: Very poor turn out this year. Last year, Gbawe 107 votes, Onlytruth 103 and Katsumoto 36 votes.
Mods, though the polls here have never produced the real poster of the years gone, but the incessant disqualifications is not good for a healthy poll
From the 4th half of this year, I think the best poster of 2013 will be between Obinoscopy, Afam, Tomakint and Naptu.

NPEC co-chair, Jarus, on behalf of co-chair OAM4J and the entire Nairaland management, climbs the podium. Opens his note to declare result. But a brief speech:

We thank everyone that participated in this exercise in the last three weeks. Despite the initial hiccups, the absence of polls, you will agree with me that this year's election is still a success to a good extent. This is the first time we are using open ballot system.

This year has been a very good one for our section. We retain our position as the most visited section. Despite the incursion of garri activists and the first-to-posters, our section was still a delight to visit.

We acknowledge the challenge of tribalism that pervades but you will all agree with us that it is a societal cankerworm that is only reflecting here. We however assure you that we are on top of the situation and are not relenting to bring ethnocentricism to barest minimum here.

A lot of people agreed that we actually got quality finalists for this award this year, unlike last year when tribal slant almost marred the exercise. Thank you all.

It should be noted that the finalists and the eventual winner are by no means the only quality posters here. Every poster here is valuable to us. Even the garri team added fun to the party, although we don't encourage such.

We the management continue to assure you of our impartiality and fairness to all as members of this section.

Thank you for making this section tick in 2012.

that man na thief jare. an unforgiving tribalistic and religious bigot.he wants revenge
How much was the whole Federal budget in 1978 that you think one man would have stolen 2.8billion in 1978?

And just a quick clarification, the mods did not pick the nominees, it's simple majority in the open nomination thread that ended yesterday.

ortopazz: What in God name is this, I mean i Cant shout o! Have always supported Keshi, Martins exclusion is very annoying, there is no one on that striking list that can poach like Martins, Dike bright is Keshi kidding me! Whats his purpose, well i bel4eve he wnt make the cut, buh I feel for Martins, his situation is quite crazy, rabium Ibrahim I hope he 3inally stares for the team, he his becoming a wasted asset due tothe slavery of the whites, i wish us well o! But am nt too impressed, martins would have been great.
The racist comment is uncharitable.
Drogba is black for God'sake. Nobody stopped him from ruling Europe. The white is in no way Rabiu's problem.
